I haven't found a Feb 2007 thread yet so thought I'd start one. Just found out I was pregnant on Monday so it is very early days still - but so exciting nonetheless. The due date calculators generally say I am due on 1 Feb, with on churning out 31 Jan and another 4 Feb. I thought it was more like 15 Feb but I will find our more at my first doctor's appointment on 15 June.

My stats:
me 28
dh 35
first baby
due 31/01 or 1/02 or 4/02 or 15/02 ???? (take your pick!)

Anyone want to join me?

good morning - hope everyone is feeling better than me
Still feel very queasy and my boobs feel like Jordan's on a bad day.....

ChaCha · 11/07/2006 12:14

How is everyone today?

DS and I are just back from a nice refreshing walk. Afraid to say that I came backed armed with magazine, can of fizzy drink and crisps

Today's one of the better days, everday is different. When are our next scans booked in?
Can we put them up on stats?

Rubyandbeansmummy · 11/07/2006 15:20

Hi - thanks for the EDD info ladies. Am feeling sick with worry today as small boy at work hit me in the belly with a metal bar. Achy for a while but OK now so i'm just hoping eveyrhting's OK. I rung my hospital but they said i can;t do anything about scans until the mw has booked me in and she is AWOL so far. Ho hum.
Glad everyone else is having better scan luck anyway

sshhh · 11/07/2006 19:23

Hi there

Welcome Bow, nice to have you join us.

I'm feeling rough. Feel sick all day long, although think i'd prefer that to vomitting in mornings. I feel really bloated and uncomfortable all the time. I'm amazed at how similar i feel to last time - feeling constantly full of wind.. i remember having to get dh to rub my back through meals to get my wind up . feel the same this time.

was in a small car accident today, and although i feel fine, was wondering if i could use it to get me an early scan - what d'ya think? sympathies to rubysmummy and hope you manage to get a scan soon to alleviate your fears.

i have appointment with doctor tomorrow about pregnancy, so will mention it then.

it's good to be able to talk online isn't it? especially when few people in RL know...

talk soon.

peachygirl · 11/07/2006 19:23

RubyMummy try to rest, I work with little ones too and worry about all the tugs and pushes etc today has seemed to me to bee a particularly bad day for having to move children about. I'll be thinking of you
Teabags thats great we have the same date. Although if the baby decided to come on the 18th I will be shouting for you all to come and push it back in

sshhh · 11/07/2006 19:26

lol peachygirl - have the visual image!!!!

soundbites · 12/07/2006 08:57

Working from home today (utter bliss) so I can see the midwife (for the first time) this afternoon. I feel so much better just knowing I don't have to be well behaved on a train for an hour and keep up appearances at work. At least I don't have to contend with children headbutting my tummy at my work! Nausea for me still is vaguely there during then day then hits really hard late afternoon / evening so DH gets me for the worst part of my day, poor thing. Away at a holiday cottage next week and making that my focus.

Hope you are all keeping well. Thanks for all the posts - it makes such a difference chatting to people who at this stage too.

i am utterley fed up - i'm soooooooo tired i just want to sleep all the time and after a nights sleep i don't feel like i've slept at all - i fell constantly sick (although luckily i'm not being sick, keep bursting into tears and generally rubbish and feel like i'm never going to feel human again - i know i'm being a baby but i can't help it and needed to rant to someone who'd understand how i feel. My scan is next monday 17th at 1.30pm and i'm hoping that when i see the baby on the screen all the negative thoughts about how bad i'm feeling will give way to the excitment of the baby coz at the moment it doesn't seem real that its actually there. Sorry for the long post and the big rant

suzi2 · 12/07/2006 09:29

Lucy - you have my sympathies. I had a scan done privately on Monday and I'm only 8 wks but since then I've felt a lot better. I think that anxiety was making me feel sicky too.

Soundbites - you've just reminded me that I need to call the midwife before 10am, I have forgotten the last 3 days!

Rubyandbeansmummy · 12/07/2006 12:27

Thanks for the thoughts everyone. feeling better today - no ill effects from the metal bar incident i don't think. Think the worst part was not being able to say anything as I don;t want work finding out yet that I was pg when i went back to work after my year maternity leave! Not gonna be popular.

I am constantly either nauseous or ravenous though which is driving me mad. Think i have found a good remedy for M/s though - tictacs! Believe it or not.

Am itching for a scan though - just so i can confirm dates and know where i am. Its really annoying because last pg i knew af to the day as we'd been ttc for 12 mths. This time i was bf til 4 mths ago and have only had two af since so know idea where i'm at. All in good time i suppose.

Anyway so glad i have somewhere to vent! Thanks ladies and best woshes to all xx

sshhh · 12/07/2006 13:18

ok, i need to rant.

i called into the docs the other day to arrange apt re pregnancy. i didn't know whether to ask for gp or mw apt, so just told the receptionist i was preg and needed to make apt. she booked me in with a locum. i asked her if it was def right to see gp first as wasn't sure etc. so she went off and checked and said that she actually needed to make me a double appointment & gave me a new time. when i got home she phoned to say that she hadnt realised that she needed to make me a double apt and could she re arrange!!!?? So i then got given a third appointment which was this morning. i went for the apoointment and it was with a locum. when he finished writing in his notes, he said that he would just go and double check how to book me into the antenatal system, as he hadnt worked in that surgery before. (!!) when he came back, he said that he was sorry but there had been a mix up and i needed to fill in lots of forms about being preg, and what i actually needed to do was book a double ante-natal appointment on my way out to be 'booked in'.

gggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

How bloomin' annoyin. i was spitting mad by the time i left.

so, i now have another appointment booked for the middle of next week when i'll be 8 1/2 weeks

rant over.

sorry about that!

soundbites · 12/07/2006 16:03

Sshhh - you have my sympathies! I had a similar rant on here last week about the fact that the doctor and receptionist told me that the midwife would contact me while all along she was waiting to hear from me. You'd think that pregnancy was fairly common and that they would know how to arrange appointments! Very frustrating ?

Just back from my midwife appmt which I finally managed to organise and she was lovely. We had a nice chat, filling in forms etc. and taking almost all the 40mins appmt. She made me aware of the fact that there is a birthing centre not too far away that I could choose instead of the hospital and I am quite taken with the idea (she says I can call and arrange a visit). There seems to be a bit of midwife / doctor rivalry as she was saying I don't suppose the doctor told you this or gave you that! She thinks I'm due around 30 Jan but I think I'll stay put, if you don't mind, having got to know everyone here. Anyway the scan might change the dates again.

Oh well, next step is the scan two weeks tomorrow. Just hoping all goes well until then for all of us.

I've just booked to see the midwife next week. Will be 7+4. Don't think its the booking in appt but will try and get as much info as poss from her and get a scan booked. Go on holiday in a couple of weeks so will wait for NHS scan when I get back I think instead of having a private one early. As long as I've got time to get my nuchal in when I get home (12 weeks) then I don't mind.
Feeling as rough as you all, heat doesn't help, though we shouldn't complain. DH not being as sympathetic and understanding as he could be. Think he's fed up with the mood swings already!

ChaCha · 12/07/2006 16:33

Sshh - What a mix up! No wonder you're
I was fortunate enough to see a GP that doesn't actually work in our surgery, although; I was sad to hear my usual GP had left, she was great, so anyway; she booked me in for a double appt on the 18th and gave me prescriptions for lots of gaviscons and inhalers. Last year at 18weeks had the paramedics out as my asthma was unbearable, heat made it worse and suffered with really bad heartburn too. Making sure i am armed this year

I think i am 8 weeks tomorrow, will tell after scan, quite excited/quite nervous.

Does anyone get sick after napping? I had this last year too. Just lay down with DS for ten minutes and want to be sick again. Is horrible. Speaking of DH's mine has been okay, he came home from work y'day very tired and helped with dinner, bottles, and general tidy up. Can't get away with it everyday though

See you all later x

suzi2 · 12/07/2006 17:59

chacha - I'm worse after napping. But if I don't get a nap when DS does in the morning, then I'm worse all day so it's a hard call!

Oddly, I have bad asthma but it disappeared almost completely when I was pg with DS. I used to take attacks daily (often several times) and only took about 3 the whole time I was pg. It has been better since too and is now fab again now I'm pg. The midwife last time told me that 1/3 or women finds theirs is worse, 1/3 stay the same and 1/3 are better.

I have booking in on Friday with the midwife at home. Then bloods and scan on the 7th Aug.

tara29 · 12/07/2006 20:59

Hi, I'm new to this site, sorry to join so late, my EDD is 19th Feb, I'm 34, DH2B: 37, DS: 16 months & gorgeous, my scan isn't until 10th august & MW not until 14th august, feeling very bloated & quite grumpy too - but over the moon as well All very strange, I'd forgotten how ditzy this all makes me.

peachygirl · 12/07/2006 21:04

Hi Tara Mine and teabags EDD is the 19th, welcome . there is a stats thread too of you want to add those

tara29 · 12/07/2006 21:22

thx peachygirl, i'll post on that too

teabags · 12/07/2006 21:59

Hi tara, welcome to the 19 Feb club!
I'm 8 weeks and really preg looking, it's my 2nd. People I hadn't told could tell. Still tired, but not so bad and have a mad craving for apples
Suzi - ikwym about napping, it makes me feel drugged afterwards, I am a walking zombie with or without sleep!
Anyone decided on names (or am I being way too premature?!)

ChaCha · 12/07/2006 22:38

Welcome Tara and congrats

So i must only be 7 weeks then, thought i must be more...duh!!!
Hope they can see a heartbeat tomorrow, i should have waited a bit longer, maybe it will be okay.....aghh!

suzi2 · 13/07/2006 09:17

Good luck chaCha. If you are past about 6.5 weeks then you should see a heartbeat for sure. before then depends on the equipment.

ruthey · 13/07/2006 12:45

hello everyone wow what a great site only just found it but what a lovely idea, i can relate to you teabags at 8 weeks i look more like 4 months feeling so tired all the time am really excited but had forgotten how tough these first few weeks can be roll on august when we all start blooming (with luck!)

cadbury · 13/07/2006 12:56

Hello everyone and welcome to Tara and Ruthie

Still waiting to hear when my dating scan is - they don't do a nuchal one here. I'm hopeful that it will be before we go away on holiday in August. My eating habits are getting a bit odd. I an only really face tomato and ham sandwiches everyday and maybe something different in the evenings if I can be bothered, but I can't eat very much (quantity) at all. I've lost 9 pounds since I got pg.
I'm very much looking forward to dh coming home - he's been away for 10 days and gets back on Saturday, just in time for ds's birthday. I have been baking his cake this afternoon but totally forgot about it - thankfully it wasn't too overdone but this pregnancy brain thing has got to get better before I do something (or forget to do something) serious.

babydriver · 13/07/2006 13:04

Hi all, and welcome tara and ruthey.

It's interesting to read about the different arrangements that the drs and mws have in different areas. Where I am, you see the GP as soon as you know for a very cursory conversation and then nothing until 12-13 weeks when the booking appt and scan take place together. So I'm quite envious of those of you who've already managed to have a good conversation with a mw, although as I'm second time around I feel I need it less than I did first time.

Also worrying to see how much incompetence there is around for what is a pretty common occurrence!

Has anyone started doing pelvic floor exercises yet? I've only been remembering very occasionally.

soundbites · 13/07/2006 16:47

Welcome Tara and Ruthey and congratulations!

Babydriver - I got the NCT Bumps and Babies mag in the post yesterday and it has three types of pelvic floor exercises listed. I thought I'd better have a go but I don't really know if I am doing the right thing. I read a ghastly thing in Eve mag that if you don't do them you'll never get a tampon to stay in ever again! Shock horror !

Cadbury - enjoy having DH back and the B/day party. I would have struggled without my DH who is being a real star at the moment cooking when I feel sick every evening & ironing etc. It is interesting that he feels a bit at a loss of what to do, a bit like 'done my bit so what next?', so being ultra helpful and supportive is his way of being pregnant! Anyone else's DH similar?

Teabags - DH and I talked about names before I fell pregnant and came up with some ideas but since then have put a bit of an embargo on talking about it 'just in case things go wrong'. I am fascinated by names so can't wait to make our choices, but I think we will get through the scan first. I asked in Foyles about buying the Oxford Dictionary of First Names and apparently vol 2 is published on 27 July (the day of my scan) so might buy it as a reward afterwards!
