I haven't found a Feb 2007 thread yet so thought I'd start one. Just found out I was pregnant on Monday so it is very early days still - but so exciting nonetheless. The due date calculators generally say I am due on 1 Feb, with on churning out 31 Jan and another 4 Feb. I thought it was more like 15 Feb but I will find our more at my first doctor's appointment on 15 June.

My stats:
me 28
dh 35
first baby
due 31/01 or 1/02 or 4/02 or 15/02 ???? (take your pick!)

Anyone want to join me?

Finally phoned the docs today only to be told to phone next week to get an appt on the day - like that works! Will have to resort to calling in on way back from nursery run on Monday and plead for an appt next week - need to be organised as will need to it it in around work! We can see any gp but two are rubbish and the others are ok - so much or getting an appt in 48 hours! May have to bypass the gp and get appt with midwife instead and get her to get the gp to write to the hospital! Nothing is ever straightforward!

Anyone got any cures for shhhh constipation!!! it is driving me mad - had a chinese takeaway tonight as that usually works, but not the best cure for every week!

mummy2jake · 07/07/2006 20:27

hi everyone sorry not been on for a bit im 9weeks 4days not feeling to bad having days where im so tired i could sleep all day not much chance of that with a toddler, hope eveyones doing ok.
im sure my boobs have grown in size already which my dp is lovin when there not to tender for him to touch.

suzi2 · 07/07/2006 20:31

Well I called the hospital to chase my scan date - 7th August. Day after my DSs first birthday. I was sort of hoping it would be before his party so we could announce the news then (and people wouldn't wonder about why i was so fat!).

Tryin to resist the urge to get a private scan next week. Since my symptoms have diminished I've been increasingly paranoid and my mum has offered to pay for it. But I think I'm being stupid and DH certainly thinks so too saying that it's just a waste of money that she could spend on DSs birthday. Still not sure what to do.

Also resisting the urge to get the doppler out - jsut got it back from a friend yesterday. I'm only just over 8 wks so perhaps in a couple of weeks!

sshhh · 08/07/2006 10:24

hi everyone

not posted in a while as been away on sunny hols. i'm 7 weeks today.

was beginning to panic whilst abroad as didnt have any symptoms. but nausea kicked in 3 days ago and i've been feeling blissfully rotten ever since!

i usually post under another name but i have friends and family who use this site and don't know about bub so i'll keep posting as sshhh until i have scan.

i haven't arranged booking in appointment yet with midwife - will do on monday. told my folks last night and they were naturally delighted.

MaybeBaba - i had terrible constipation during first preg. One of the preg books i was reading called it the 'full of shit' feeling!! Nice ! Only boggin' prune juice did it for me and even then it took a while. Positively vile tho'.

Barefootand - i've been craving full fat coke for the past 4 days or so! I never drink the stuff normally!

Chat soon.

ChaCha · 08/07/2006 12:02

Glad to hear I'm not the only one with a coke addiction [snigger]

Hi Sshhh, i've only told each of our parents, other than my mum everyone else kind of waited to see what our reaction was first. I was 6 and a half weeks on Monday so must have just passed 7... end of February right? If I was a gambling woman would put my money on beginning of March..past experience with dates.

Suzi - Em..I've booked a private scan cause I just can't wait and want to tell a few friends sooner rather than later. Have been a bit anti social as of late as I don't want to be discovered. I'd go for the private scan, DS will still have great pressies i'm sure. Bet your DH will love me eh? Go for it!!

All up and down here, seem to get very tired mid afternoon and post 8pm. Very energetic in the morning. Talk soon.

bunny3 · 08/07/2006 15:17

hi everyone, been too tired and sick to get online for the last week!

Swift - so sorry to hear your news. I had 2 miscarriages in a row too and it was so awful.

MrsJC, glad to hear your news. phew!

I am feeling fat as I can only eat bread - rolls, baguettes, toast, buns, donuts .... if it contains white refined flour I want it. Have hardly eaten a vegetable in days . I feel pukey but havent actually chucked up so far. Also bloody tired and fed up with the heat. Still I shouldnt moan, the sickness will go soon.

My nuchal scan is booked for 31 July but I am thinking of going to Harley St to have a more comprehensive one with Dr Nikolaides (sp?). Decisions, decisions ... My mw told me several times that even if the nuchal scan gives a good reuslt I am stilll high risk for Downs cos of my age! Bit depressing really.

suzi2 · 08/07/2006 19:05

Well Chacha, I gave in and booked a scan for Monday. And about an hour later, the nausea returned full blast and was sick this afternoon. I also had an awful headache verging on migraine so that might have played a part.

Bunny, I'm living on carbs and 'breakfast goods' and the only veggie I have eaten in days is potato. Tonight I'm having popcorn for dinner (supposed to be good for nausea). my area don't offer the nuchal scan but from what I have read, it's a good predictor of the risk. So I would say that even though you're at more risk, a good result on that scan would be very reassuring I'm sure.

flowertot · 09/07/2006 17:50

How much does nuchal scan tell you? Does it not go further than high risk? I'm high risk cos of age too bunny and would like to know for sure. Is amnio the only sure way of finding out? Definitely don't want that. Maybenuchal is not worth going for and just have quad test?
Can anyone give me more info. haven't seen midwife yet will make an appt next week so she can hopefully enlighten me as to what I can get and when

sshhh · 09/07/2006 19:26

hi girls

meant to post a link to our stats thread earlier but forgot. there are quite a few of us!

here it is

suzi2 · 09/07/2006 21:38

flowertot - the nuchal is far better than the quad/triple test. The triple test is likely to come back as a high risk figure if you're over 35 anyway as it takes age into account. So it doesn't tell you much if you're over 35 AFAIK. The nuchal is a quantitive measurement. i.e. the thicker the nuchal fold at the back of the neck, the more risk. I don't think that the mothers age applies to that figure at all. So if (pullin figures out the air here!) you got a '5' and a 20 yr old got a '5' the risk would be the same IYSWIM. Amnio or CVS is the only way to tell for sure I think but they both carry a risk.

Nucal scan is best done around 10-12 wks. CVS is about 12-14 wks I think and amnio around 16-18 wks. HTH

Rubymummy · 09/07/2006 23:12

Hi - needing help with my dates here! I think my last af was about 16th May. How many weeks does that make me, what would edd be based on that date? Am getting scared by talk of scans etc as mw won;t even book me in til beginning Aug! Help! I did this all only a year ago and have forgotten what to expect already!!

suzi2 · 10/07/2006 07:59

Hi Rubymummy, my last af was 11th may and my EDD is about the 16th Feb. So you're would be about the 21st. I'm 8+4 so you're 7+6. ISH.... I'm sure my GP has me a day out!

My mw hasn't been in touch about booking in yet, and I only know my scan date (7th Aug) as I called the hospital direct. I'm going for a private scan today as I can't wait that long!

ChaCha · 10/07/2006 08:44

Hi Rubymummy - My last AF was 19th May and according to Dr and PG calculator EDD is end of February, around the 25th I think. So, yes Suzi is quite right. My NHS scan is the 3rd or 6th of August (have forgotten which) so I also booked a private on for this Thursday - just can't wait that long!
How old is your little one? My DS is 7months.

Suzi - Will be logging on later to see how the scan went. Exciting isn't it?

Bow · 10/07/2006 10:54

Hi new to the ante natal chats, my last AF was 10th May and am due on the 14th Feb (ahh!) you just count 40 weeks from the first day of your last period and that gives you EDD.

This is my second, DS 3 in may 07 so a little crazy and scared!!

bunny3 · 10/07/2006 12:44

Have jsut booked a nuchal scan + cvs (if necessary) for 2nd August ... gulp .... now a bit nervous about it!

Flowertot, the nuchal scan can flag up a concern in 65% of babies who have Downs. The Fetal MEdicine Centre in London (who pioneered the nuchal scan) also check the presence of the nasal bone and one of the valves in the heart as thee valve and the absence of a nasal bone are both indicators of Downs. Therefore the test they offer os much more comprehensive and will identify 95% of Downs babies. It is costing me £150 for the nuchal or £450 if I have the cvs done too. CVS is a bit like an amnio but it can be done sooner. It carries a small miscarriage risk (here in my local hospital it is 3%, at the fetal medicine centre it is 1%). I have thought constantly about the testing for the last week or so and after much soul-searching have decided I need to know the baby is ok. I dont know what action I will take if Downs is detected, hopefully I wont have to make that decision.

Crikey, I still feel sick . This is not good - have already eaten a currant bun, toast and jam x3 and a bog bowl of cereals - now I am going to find something nice for lunch.

bunny3 · 10/07/2006 12:45

Hi Bow, nice to ahve you join us.

ChaCha · 10/07/2006 13:36

Hi Bow and Bunny,

Bunny, i've scoffed 2 small pizza's already, i seem to wake up starving! Much to DS's big saucer eyed amusement...

Waiting to hear how you are Suzi

titchy77 · 10/07/2006 14:53

Good luck for today suzi!!

suzi2 · 10/07/2006 18:41

All was well! I'm 6 days out (ovulated late which is what I suspected) so now 7+5 rather than 8+4. Heartbeat nice and strong - could see all the valves working away. Definately better quality scan thn the NHS one. Sonographer said that yok was there too which is good as that's what feeds the baby at this stage. So all is well and I'm telling everyone!

cadbury · 10/07/2006 18:42

That's fab suzi. Very pleased for you.

hairycaterpillar · 10/07/2006 19:02

hi all hope you're all feeling better than me...feel really sick but not actually being sick and am dreadfully tired. Never felt nearly this bad with either of my other two. Had to call dh home from work today as felt so yucky and just couldnt cope with looking after a hyped up after nursery 21/2yr old and 16mth old. I wretch at most things...especially stinky nappies/bins/drains/anything really with an odour! No idea how I'm gonna cope i just hope this is it reaching its peak and it'll be better from now on. Sorry to moan I know it's all a good sign that the pregnancy is nice and healthy but eeuuurrgghhh!

Moan over!

peachygirl · 10/07/2006 19:34

Hi all
Things fine with me, I'm not feeling massively sick though, certainly not today, although have been queasy most evenings. My mum didn't have bad MS so maybe I am taking after her.
I am exceptionally tired, weeing lots (3 times last night!!) still have very tender boobs. Will they be sore all the way through the PG?
I go through phases of worrying like mad and then feeling really positive about it all.

Rubymummy My last AF started on the 15th of May and my EDD is the 19th feb. I would prefer to go over or even earlier as the 18th is MILs birthday and we would never hear the end of it!

MaybeBaba · 10/07/2006 19:49

Well glad everyone is well, if feeling a little sick! Having thought I was ok inthat dept - I have started eeling nauseous and can only eat small amounts of food! Diet coke helps and having a glass of milk in the morning is ok. I am constantly drinking water to keep the feelings down, but ok in evenings! Felt like my blood sugars were low today after breakast - felt shaky!

Got gp appt on 24th July!!!!! Midwife appts are at hospital for first one, so will try to get gp to rush it through so I an have it before hols. I am considering the nuchal scan - not sure how much it costs but I think I can claim half it back on a medical plan I have - need to email them to check! Will do that now else I will forget!

Waiting for irst scan so I can check dates are right - I reckon I am 7+1 but we will see! I expect it will be mid august - unless get nuchal done before that - does anyone know how to find somewhere that does it and do you refer yourself?

ChaCha · 10/07/2006 19:55

Hi girls,

Suzi - So pleased to hear the good news That is fab! Bet you're really excited now, yipeee! Am so looking fwd to mine now, have Dr's appt on Tuesday 18th and then NHS scan on Saturday 3rd...still go from being quite excited to feeling quite quilty as DS is so small...

Peachy - Sorry but had to LOL at MIL's b'day! Typical huh?

Diet coke always works for me unfortunately...will have another hyper child i'm sure.

teabags · 10/07/2006 21:48

hey peachygirl, my last AF and EDD is identical to yours
