Congrats red!!! Hope it went well and you had a better experience than you expected?

I just saw my midwife and had a sweep! Was incredibly nervous but it didn't hurt, she was so gentle! Also my Bishop's score is 8 (out of a possible 9) so come onnnn let's have a baby now please..

RueDeWakening · 06/06/2013 18:40

Congratulations Redwelly Grin look forward to the update, hope everything went well and was better than you expected.

AlohaMama · 06/06/2013 18:48

Great news red, glad it all went well.

All these babies coming thick and fast is making me nervous. Last day at work today (hurrah!!) and looking forward to at least one week off to enjoy maternity leave before baby arrives. I hope.

Olimoss · 06/06/2013 19:32

Yay Red!

Sarah - stairs are ok. Basically I echo what's been said about it being weird not to use your core muscles. And get used to doing things slowly - I struggle with that...! So the stairs at our house I just took pretty easy. Is fine now.

Mawgatron · 06/06/2013 19:33

Yay red!

All you ladies getting sweeps, how does that work exactly? I have a midwife appointment on Monday when I will be 39+1 can I ask her to do one?

Went to visit my nan today, she is really excited but she wouldn't let me walk home (10mins tops in lovely sunshine). She insisted on getting me a taxi as she was worried about my waters breaking on the way home. Bless her, I don't know what she is expecting me to do for the next potentially 3 weeks- not leave the house?

Gutted, meant to be going for pizza express with my mate, went past today and they are shut for a refurb. Shitbags, fancied some yummy dough balls!

arlandria666 · 06/06/2013 20:34

congratulations on the new arrivals :-D its DS's due date today weird thinking i have had him two weeks already and he still weighs a lot less than many of the new borns! on a more positive note he had another weight increase and now i only have to cup feed if he is still hungry but he would rather be on the boob getting it straight from the tap lol!! still 8 oz to get to his birth weight! today was the biggest increase we've seen 2oz since yesterday unsure if its a coincidence i have cut out dairy but either way i am staying off it!

c section recovery was much better than i expected but just be careful not to do too much thinking you're better than you are (i did and was in agony!) also sitting up in bed was hard after relying on hospital bed i suggest loads of pillows x

Steffanoid · 06/06/2013 20:52

mawgatron my mum and oh have banned me from.driving for what seems forever, cause of my size and hips blah blah, im going stir crazy stuck in 4 walls!

learnermummy · 06/06/2013 20:58

Great news arlandria Smile.

For those of us still likely to be pregnant on Father's Day I've just seen a lovely card on funky pigeon where you upload a scan pic. It says from the bump to my daddy to be or similar Smile.

rrreow · 06/06/2013 21:09

Mawgatron it can't hurt to ask! I'm 38+5 today and midwife had no problem doing one. Basically they ask you to lie in the same position as you would if you were having a smear test or an internal exam. The midwife will use some gel and then insert (I think it's) 2 fingers. The level of discomfort/pain will depend on how low your cervix is (obviously the higher it still is the further up she'll need to put her fingers). She'll then try and run her fingers along the edge of the cervix separating the membrane (of I guess the amniotic sac?) from the cervix. She may ask you to put your fists behind your coccyx or make some movements with your pelvis to help her.

I had mine at 5pm and am having some irregular contractions now! They're quite painful already but not coming regular enough for doing any timing. I hope this is the start of things!

learnermummy · 06/06/2013 22:13

Great news rrreow, fingers crossed.

Mawgatron I think it's much easier to give an early sweep to someone who's given birth before as the cervix is always a little bit open.

pinkbear82 · 06/06/2013 22:23

pinkapples · 06/06/2013 23:48

Congrats pinkbear Grin glad your fine and your home x

Sarah2506 · 07/06/2013 06:08

Just called delivery and we are all set for this morning. Will update later when I can:-)

MrsBri · 07/06/2013 06:11

Congrats on the new babies, and what a lovely name, pink :-)

Come on, forget! Can't wait to see if your acrobat is a boy or a girl!

Good luck today, Sarah.

So jealous of all these babies coming now. We attempted, umm, home induction, last night by DTD. It was comical to say the least, trying to find a suitable position!

I've been a bit crampy since, but no sign of it actually working. I clearly need more prostaglandin inside me!

Baby B was a bit quiet afterwards too. Think we traumatised him!

AlohaMama · 07/06/2013 06:15

Congrats pinkbear, such a pretty name.

And goodluck Sarah and Forget. Hope you're not waiting too long now forget....

Who's next???!!

Littlemissexpecting · 07/06/2013 06:52

Congrats pink bear.
Looking forward to seeing more baby news as the day progresses Smile

Maw my mw won't offer a sweep until 40+5 ideally 40+7. I did ask but they won't do it any earlier here.

Olimoss · 07/06/2013 07:03

Congrats Pink, and big good luck to Sarah & Forget...

MrsBri · 07/06/2013 07:06

We aren't offered a sweep until 40+4 here, but as they're only done on a Tuesday and Friday, it'll be 40+5 for me too.

I'm not sure if the MW will do one in my standard appointment. I'll vaguely mention it on Monday to see.

I've been convinced I'd have an early baby all the way through, but I'm losing confidence in that now!

pinkbear82 · 07/06/2013 07:41

thank you ladies.

good luck Sarah and forget

it was a bit of a 36 hours before Violet arrived! went for my 40 week mw appt and she wasn't happy with baby's heartbeat, and sent me for a trace to be done.
the base line was too high and it kept dipping/stopping and after being monitored for most of Wednesday I was admitted to be induced.

Had a pessory inserted, within 10 mins it was removed has heartbeat went crazy and they weren't happy. Was told it would be a c section to get bubs out. With that the heartbeat started to calm down and everything was halted to see what happened.

STill an erratic heartbeat and after trying to break my waters yesterday morning I had a drip started to get things going. ANd get going they did, within 2 hours of starting the drip, a failed epidural, and a stubborn baby - she flew out perfectly happy and unaware of all the worry leading up to her arrival.

After being stitched and I lost a fair amount of blood. The midwives etc were happy with both of us and happy to discharge us to come home and rest up.

she's been a star! And is of course perfect Wink

Hawkmoth · 07/06/2013 07:51

Wow pinkbear! You got everything all at once, but finished with the best outcome. Hope you're settling into life together.

Good luck today Sarah.

I've got a consultant appointment this morning to discuss home birth when I dared to decline the GTT. Hoping they will just have a quick feel of bump and realise I'm not cooking a huge baby. Another crap night.

DH working tonight, I plan to eat ice cream in bed.

AmIGoingMad · 07/06/2013 08:00

Wow Pinkbear- you certainly had a interesting time of it! You're also proof that induction doesn't necessarily mean a really drawn out process! I hope that you're enjoying lots of cuddles and being spoilt by your mum tooSmile
