Just back from MW. Naughty baby is still back to back despite my best efforts. Don't have my next appointment until I'm 41+5 when they will talk about options of getting baby out. Flipping hope I don't have to wait that long. Will be seriously peeved by then.

Apparently as well as getting on my hands and knees to wash the floor I should do the ironing to try and turn baby round. Funny how everything seems to involve housework!

pinkapples · 04/06/2013 12:28

Ahhh that's good news arlandria let's hope it carries on Grin
Congrats on baby Beatrice glad all is well now Grin
Hubby and I also DTD last night to no avail I'm 39 weeks today and nothing! Apart I suppose from the HUGE ankles and sausage toes I seem to be developing!

After a morning of cleaning the study I am sitting down now for a well earned rest debating what to have for lunch pineapples anyone?

redwellybluewelly · 04/06/2013 12:28

rrreow check they can offer a WB after induction, when I was declining induction with DD one factor was their refusal to let me have a WB. We didn't have MLU then but I know a few peers recently kept on main delivery after induction...

Hope the sweep workd though, I'd have moved heaven and earth to avoid induction last time and have a natural labour either time!

well done arlandria!

sunny I think it's because when we used to.have children women were doing tge housework a lot more physically ie doing tge floors on your hands and knees rather than with a long mop, and I think there were less cases of b2b babes and now we're a lot more chilled out.....Confused

anyone else's feet and ankles feel like a sodding elephants? my feet are usually my favourite thing about me, now they're fucking huge :( my poor little toes are sore and I can't wear any footwear

id like this baby to arrive now please

rrreow · 04/06/2013 12:42

redwellybluewelly I'm getting a lot better at demanding what I want rather than just saying yes to everything and going by their agenda. Grin I probably sound like the patient from hell, but I've felt so powerless all my life (and in my last labour) I'm really trying to change that by trying to gather the facts and then making my own decisions. The only 'extra' thing they did when I was induced with DS1 was monitor his heartbeat, and I know they can do that in the water.

Apparently when you sit down you should have your knees below your hips to encourage the baby to turn the right way around (so no couch slouching..). My office chair is actually like that (and I spend about 6-8 hour a day on it) so I think that's contributed to baby being in the right position. You can do it on a birth ball as well though, just make sure it's pumped up enough. I also read that hypnotherapy (using visualisation exercises) can help turn babies.

pinkbear82 · 04/06/2013 12:56

40 weeks tomorrow! If MW suggests any ironing for me I will just giggle...... Since moving 6 months ago we have no iron or ironing board.... Blush

My Granny who is well in her 90s just called to see if baby had decided to make any movements, when I said not so far she tutted and said it was rude to keep people waiting especially when time isn't on their side!!! Gotta love her sense of humour. At the end I said take it easy and she chuckled and said ' I'm not the one having a baby!'

Well done on the weight increase - and to those of you being firm on what you want, only way to be.

Pinkapples I too am wondering about lunch, was thinking more stir fry then pineapple but perhaps we should all be doing pineapple curry while bouncing on a ball and keeping our knees below our hips and have the floor ready to scrub.....

redwellybluewelly · 04/06/2013 13:28

rrreow I'm a dab hand at ensuring I try to find compromises (last labour led to brain damaged baby) ans yet the maternity/delivery wards still refuse to budge. Just thought I'd mention it. However as I know to my cost so far every PCT is different.

arlandria thats brilliantly awesome news, so so pleased, keep up the good work and hope you get some rest now!

Have graciously accepted that with only a few days to go I might just possibly need to relax today. Only issue is that someone forgot to tell the toddler.

Question - what snacks have you packed? I'm all out of inspiration and I've no idea what I'll fancy on a hot sweaty noisy post natal ward after surgery!

OP posts:
redwellybluewelly · 04/06/2013 13:29

dontmind been thinking of you!

And how many muslins have people packed?

OP posts:
pinkapples · 04/06/2013 13:38

I've packed Capri son and lucozade and then at the moment I have a tube of Pringles mainly for hubby and some chewits for me don't know what else

pinkbear82 · 04/06/2013 13:44

I have lucozade too, and some bottled water (fussy taste), some jelly babies, oat biscuit/cracker things and some nut bars.

All easy and self contained - my mum will be the nightmare, she has awful allergies and has to take her own food - even when she's admiTted to hospital her diet is so specialist they struggle to provide for her. So we'll probably end up with a mini self catering van for her Wink

Steffanoid · 04/06/2013 13:53

I've got cereal bars, jelly sweets and drinks, like that flat lucozade and flavoured water.

I think the dog is bored waiting for the baby, he just jumped off my lap kicking my belly hard in the process I think he's as fed up of waiting as I am!

rrreow · 04/06/2013 14:01

Muslins... I think I must go and check my bag.

Snacks wise I have cereal bars and a bottle of gatorade which should be fine if homebirth as I have the whole kitchen. If I do go in for an induction I will probably get some sandwiches as well and maybe some juice.

redwellybluewelly · 04/06/2013 14:17

I've packed frusli bars, flat lucozade and will take a bottle of squash. Hospital water tastes horrid! I'm also thinking of stocking the fridge at home and getting DH to bring in a cool box of snacks such as fresh fruit.

And I was also recommended peppermint tea, even if drunk cold apparently it can help with wind?

Right. Toddler awake. Praying DH home early!

Hawkmoth · 04/06/2013 14:59

Apparently I have to get out of bed and have a shower. I hardly think that's appropriate. Did not factor in a heat wave for a June baby. DS was August and I did just sit on the couch in vest and tiny shorts for a fortnight beforehand, I don't want to do that now!

Mind you, I've got indigestion so uprightness might be a good thing. Pfft. It's not like baby seems all that happy in there, I mean if it was happy it wouldn't be trying to break my ribs with its huge feet, right?

redwellybluewelly · 04/06/2013 15:24

Hawkmoth I'm just wondering if you had your DS the year I had my DD, it was 32 frigging degrees in our city the week I went overdue and I melted. Remember it distinctly. Quite what possessed me to have another summer baby I don't know, 20 something degrees this week and the PN ward is going to be distinctly yukky!

learnermummy · 04/06/2013 16:04

Afternoon all. Wrote a post earlier but it seems to have got lost.

Congratulations Suzy Smile.

Hope labour starts naturally for you soon rrreow. My hospital can apparently do continual monitoring in the pool now.

More acupuncture for me today and a nice hair cut. Pedicure booked for tomorrow. Feeling more ready now!

AlohaMama · 04/06/2013 16:36

Pfft all this moaning about the weather Wink I have been sweating in 28-30 deg with NO WIND for 2 months now. Yesterday the trade winds (usually fairly consistent breeze here) finally decided to make a comback and I am so relieved. So nice to have a shower and actually feel clean for more than five minutes after.

Am I the only one that is trying to NOT have this baby right now??? I know I'm due later during the month (though ob is convinced I'll be early) but we've pretty much finished getting our house in order to sell and would love a few days to treat ds before his sister arrives. Something more fun that watching us to DIY. Besides which I still have 3 d left at work and want some time off after. Am avoiding pineapple and have prohibited dh from any nipple tweaking or DTD.

Sunny, hope you can get baby to turn, though ironing does not sound like the most fun way to do it!

Congrats on the weight gain Arlandria, hope that gets everyone off your back.

Hawkmoth · 04/06/2013 16:56

Redwelly, DS will be four in August. It seems like we haven't had a proper summer since then! I know it's pathetic to moan about this sunshine, but pfft!

Steffanoid · 04/06/2013 17:00

have got my elephant feet in a bucket of cold water, they're fucking freezing!
oh asked if I wanted to go out, he got a very annoyed look cause id just shown him my feet and told him they wouldn't even fit in my biggest flip flops, does he have no common sense

I.am an annoyed grumpy pregnant person

AmIGoingMad · 04/06/2013 17:18

Congratulations elsabel and Suzy!

Hope you're enjoying lots of baby cuddles by now don'tmind!

And that's great news arlandria!

I'm with you with the heat hawk! I'm torn between wanting nice weather and wanting the temperature to just hold off a bit as I'm melting!

I just have a few more little jobs to do then I'll be willing this little one to arrive quickly! Really don't want to go over but who knows what her plan will be.

Had a cover midwife today as mine was on annual leave. I usually am a bit dubious of my one but today's made her look like the font of all knowledge!

Had to have a swab for discharge (tmi warning should probably have come before that sorry!) which they'll check for step b after history. Fingers crossed there's none of that!

My blood pressure was good though which is great after last time around!

On the snacks front I have pringles(any excuse!)cereal bars, snickers, lucozade and water. If I have to stay in DH can bring in fruit snack packs. I might add some glucose sweets to that though. Although last time I remember not being allowed to eat after they'd started either induction drip or antibiotics. I hope that doesn't happen this time!

Fingers crossed for some movement/baby turning for those who want it!

learnermummy · 04/06/2013 17:19

Oh dear steffanoid Hmm. Feel I must warn you that the swelling doesn't go down immediately afterwards unfortunately. Birkenstocks on widest setting were all that would fit me first pregnancy.

AmIGoingMad · 04/06/2013 17:21

X post stef. Poor you that sounds awful! I know they're not the most attractive things but I used those pregnancy compression pop sock things at the end of last pregnancy. Granted that was a little easier as it was dec/jan but might be worth a try when you're in the house. Although you'd need to be careful of slipping over if not wearing anything over them.

pinkapples · 04/06/2013 17:31

I think the same on the feet front may have to consider putting my feet in the mop bucket hehe

pinkbear82 · 04/06/2013 17:43

Ah ladies sounds awful re the feet - I was sort of moaning to myself while standing to cook that I could feel them objecting. But nothing like your suffering with.

Only thing that looks more annoyed about the heat at the moment is the dog! He is huffing and puffing and flumping even more than me!

Mawgatron · 04/06/2013 18:22

Am I the only one who is really enjoying the sunshine? Went for a lovely long walk down by the river today and it was GLORIOUS! Also Ben doing a bit of reading in the garden, although keeping the bump covered - got all paranoid that if it gets brown and then baby comes out and it shrinks it will look all freaky. Not that I envisage myself getting my tum out any time over the next EVER!

Congrats on ladies with babies, trying hard not to be jealous! I am ready now, feel like I want him here ASAP. Been doing some yoga ball bouncing and pineapple eating to try and encourage him along.
