New thread :)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
littleducks · 29/05/2013 19:00

Hiya, I think I missed posting on the last thread. Like natalie says its a marathon catch up read. I do lurk even when I'm not feeling like sharing Winkthough.

Had scan yesterday and its a BOY! But also was admitted to hospital again for IV fluids due to hyperemesis Sad. I haven't gained any weight at all yet but was chubby to start with so combined with the vomiting its hardly surprising....expect I might balloon up if/when I stop being sick!

Umlauf- I think Spain has different expectations in terms of pregnancy so I wouldn't worry too much about the dr. Not surprised you find the language tricky either its very different vocab and there is the pressure of time.

Clapham- I remember feeling like you in my first pregnancy I think I took nesting to the extreme and wanted to stay at home and prepare everything and ignore friends and family Blush

OrangeBlossom2 · 29/05/2013 19:11

Natalie, I meant you were feeling quite down a few weeks ago. I am glad you are feeling happier.

Also meant to say umlauf, I find it hard to say what I want to at doctors and always blush and get really nervous. Several have asked me if I am developing a rash when I am in there. Something about doctors and hospitals just makes me really anxious. I would not be able to say or understand a thing in a foreign language.

Flyer747 · 29/05/2013 19:16

Orange I also get embarrassed when I go to see my doctor, however the reason for this is he is about 32 yrs old and really dishy.... It was particularly awful when I had to go and ask him about my piles in early pregnancy...cringe worthy. :-)

takingachance · 29/05/2013 19:19

Aww, hayle so glad you had a good scan and a co-operative baby! Smile

Just out of interest, those of you who have had the anomaly scan, did you notice what the measurements were, i.e did they tie in exactly with dates - just wondering if say measurements are ahead or behind dates it means baby will be taller or shorter or bigger, etc

Congrats littleducks on your little Boy! But sorry you are still feeling lousy Sad

I know its already been said, but I am amazed at how many boys there are so far! x

Natalieand · 29/05/2013 19:20

I've only been weighed once in this pregnancy and that was 14 weeks at consultant appt but I've kept an eye on myself with being rediculously over weight already I don't want it getting even more out of hand

Thanks orange very tho

Natalieand · 29/05/2013 19:22

God damn mumsnet for posting too early

Thanks orange for asking very thoughtful of you!!

I wonder how many of the ladies we lost early on in the thread have managed to get back on a new bus?

2 more boys! This is mental all these boys lol congrats on the successful scans ladies.

Dh isn't keen on Noah cos someone he went to school with has a 3 year old called Noah he thinks ppl will accuse us of copying bare in mind we never see said person, ever ever ever haven't in like 4 years lol I've got 19 weeks too convince him xx

What other boys names are ppl thinking?

Haylebop12 · 29/05/2013 19:28

natalie I like Noah, a friend of mine has a Noah and he's adorable!

So, I can properly start looking at names... But so far we only agree on Isaac, David will be middle name more than likely. My favorite is still Max but dh not overly keen.

Flyer747 · 29/05/2013 19:46

I like Max and Issac hayle really nice names.

We have Jacob and Thomas for boys Natalie. My neighbour has a Theo which I quite like, although DP says it remind him of that theo from dragons den!

Haylebop12 · 29/05/2013 19:57

Jacob is also nice but already one in the family :-)

Have weighed myself, a stone (7 kilos) since booking in which I'm fairly pleased with since I've been pigging out A LOT! Quite shocking seeing XX stone on the scales mind. I lost a stone as soon as I had dd with obviously giving birth and waters.

Shootingstarsandcomets · 29/05/2013 20:54

I haven't weighed myself as I'm a bit scared! I put on 3 stone last time which was all gone by 12 weeks from walking and breastfeeding but even so I'd like not to be such a massive moo cow this time but I think it's just what my body does.
I'm still on caffeine too, I need something to pep me up when I'm running about after ds who is getting very cross that he still can't crawl despite his best efforts!
I like the name Noah- out friends have a Niah and he is adorable.
I need a double buggy too but haven't seen one I like yet. When someone finds the ultimate one can thu post it on here please!
Nearly 20 weeks and feeling lots of movement now. Just had a Thai curry for supper and baby liked the chilli hit!
Congrats on all the good scan news.

Natalieand · 29/05/2013 20:58

Ok so I just looked through 1,820 boys names and these r the few that I kind of like (not keen on hardly any boys names) opinions openly welcome
Kai
Noah
Albie
Casper
Louie

Dd is called honey so needs to match

Umlauf · 29/05/2013 21:29

Evening! Congratulations haylebob on your boy and the other lady whose name I can't find here now, sorry! Isn't it weird about the boy/girl ratio?! I wonder if they're all having girls on the November thread!!

Thanks for being so lovely to me when I was feeling down earlier. We've done our weekly shop and bought loads of veg and low fat yogurts, and my new DIY gel manicure kit arrived from the uk today so I've been pampering myself with a manicure this evening! If it really does stay on for 3 weeks it'll be fantastic for when the baby is here, I barely have time to look after my appearance as it is now!! At least I can be a chubster with nice nails!!!

Xxx

Umlauf · 29/05/2013 21:30

Meant to say natalie all those names are lovely, I have a soft spot for Albie because I'm 80% decided on Albert with Albie or Bertie as a nn! I love Louie too.

cuillereasoupe · 29/05/2013 21:32

MIL usually makes some comment about the state of the house or "helpfully" does things like buys me cleaning cloths I might like

That sounds familiar... talking of ILs, mine are insisting on buying us a blender type thing that costs one thousand pounds as their gift for the baby. Insane. Honestly, of all the stuff we're going to need...

My scan isn't until June 16th. Anyone after that?

Flyer747 · 29/05/2013 21:38

Umlauf the gel polish is fab...it usually lasts 2 on my fingers but 4 on my toes. I'm a qualified nail technician (I do it on the side of my main job) and I think it's the perfect thing to have on when you don't have time to keep painting them every 5 days or so, if you use some cuticle oil everyday it will help the polish to last longer! :-)

LostMySocks · 29/05/2013 21:40

Bree I went off coffee until 14 weeks when my ES (evening sickness) disappeared. I thought they'd sus me at work as I'm usually a coffee monster (3 or 4 cups by 11am). I switched to decaf except when I was with suppliers as we didn't want to tell them I was leaving until we had my cover plan sorted. Luckily bump hasn't really shown until this week (21 week)and can still be disguised
I've not weighed myself but jeans still fit (apart from round the tummy which is a bit tight and is better with a hair band). But my boobs are getting out of control. Just ha to buy second set of new bras. Up to a 30 G. Hate to think what's going to happen when my milk comes. DH asked if I'd deliberately chosen a bra that made them look huge. Mind you he doesn't seem to be complaining ;-)

MrsO27 · 29/05/2013 21:41

19 weeks today and can't say I've had definite movements, just suspected ones! The BBC pregnancy website says nearly all mothers feel something in the 19th week so really hoping I feel more soon. No idea about position of placenta, they didn't say at 12 week scan. Going to ask next week.
Someone mentioned itchy skin on their tummy, I've had ths too! Wasn't sure if it was a pregnancy thing or not but love playing "symptom snap", makes me feel more normal! Does anyone else experience really painful nipples when it's cold? I get this and it's awful, I even get it in the cold food aisles in the supermarket!

roofio87 · 29/05/2013 21:42

oh thanks for that tip about the cuticle oil flyer I'm having mine done tomorrow!! defo lasts 2 weeks, I love it!!

Sanjifair · 29/05/2013 21:42

Hmm, helpful MILs. Mine used to have some kind of nasty dig every time she visited, until one time, when I told her that I have having a bit of embarrassment with DS (age 2) pointing out dirt wherever he saw it at other people's houses (this was true), that I was trying to teach him not to be so rude, and that I don't want to bring him up to be so bad mannered that he thinks that it is acceptable behaviour to point out dirt in someone's house.

She hasn't said anything since.

GTbaby · 29/05/2013 21:44

Cullier! R u kidding me! A grand on a blender for the baby! That's enough money to buy everything for the baby. Out if curiosity. Have you asked then to explain this gift? Or said no? As that IS crazy. Maybe u can suggest a more appropriate gift. Or get P to talk to them. Unless you can return it or sell it Wink

cuillereasoupe · 29/05/2013 21:49

Does anyone else experience really painful nipples when it's cold?

Yes, I get that! They've also grown to cover about a third of my boobs Shock

I know GT, it's crazy. I'm getting DP to have a word. Thing is they're really into cooking and use theirs every day. We don't even have room in the kitchen for it, it's massive.

Umlauf · 29/05/2013 21:51

Ooh thanks for the tip flyer ill look some out at the weekend. I got the sensationail one by nailene, its £60 in boots so I was sceptical, as the only other time I've ever had a gel manicure was at nails inc for my wedding and cost £60 for hands and £60 for feet!!! I'm impressed so far, especially as it was my first try and seemed so easy!

Looking forward to trying other colours now!!

littleducks I've just seen its you with the baby boy! Congratulations!!!! Yes they do things a little differently in Spain so I try not to measure my treatment against what I read on here or I panic! Seems I'm low risk and easy though so coming along nicely!

GTbaby · 29/05/2013 21:52

Anyone else fancy an ice cream. With a side order of profiter rolls?

Flyer747 · 29/05/2013 21:56

Roofio are you doing NCT by any chance? Just as you are liverpool based, on the off chance you are I'm doing it. Also there is a nearly new NCT sale on the 8th June in lark lane Aigburth, I hear they are very good.

Shirehobbit · 29/05/2013 21:57

Sounds nice GT!
But I'm on salt and vinegar crisps with a sneaky shandy - but it is much needed after a visit to the Trafford Centre to look at prams/buggies. My head is spinning Confused
