New thread :)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Warlin · 29/05/2013 14:35

flyer and umlauf I put on 4 stone with my last pregnancy (2 stone by 20 weeks so stopped weighing myself until the end!). When I saw the amount of fluid that came out as my waters I knew why! It doesn't mean it's fat and I did lose 2 stone straight away once I had the baby. This time I haven't even put on a stone but then I started a stone heavier than I did last time :) Not sure my scales are accurate anyway!

TheFalconsmistress · 29/05/2013 14:38

A note on movement while i think of it was at mw and she said as long as your getting at least 10 in 24 hours by 24 weeks not to worry :) I heard it was ten in an hour so was in a panic lol

takingachance · 29/05/2013 14:42

Well I had my scan, it was lovely-30 mins of watching baby while they checked everything. All is well and they have told me my due date is now 13th rather than 16th, so that saves a few days wait!
We were hoping to find out pink or blue, but despite trying to see the sonographer said he couldn't say as baby kept their legs firmly together!! Funnily enough, now that we haven't been able to find out I feel quite excited that we will have a surprise!

Good luck for your scan haylebop x

In terms of caffeine intake, I have just switched to decaf tea and coffee and can't tell any taste difference. I actually prefer it as I would so entires get a headache with caffeinated coffee. I do succumb to the odd can of coke though, but I think that has less caffeine than tea, just too much sugar!

Weight gain I think from about 69kg at 8 weeks, to 73 kg at 20 weeks, both measured fully clothed, so 4kg gain. I was actually 74kg a year ago and lost it on a fitness campaign, so not feeling too bad at the mo. also know that it will be relatively easy to lose when breast feeding- well it was with dd.....

Haylebop12 · 29/05/2013 14:51

taking you are now my due date buddy too hehe!

Just over an hour!

Flyer747 · 29/05/2013 14:55

congrats taking, and another one in the suprise camp.

does anyone else on this thread have Group B Streptococcus? i was told i was a carrier years ago when it was picked up on a routine smear test. I have been to see a consultant about it when i was 16 weeks, i have to have intravenous antibiotics throughout my labour, and am unable to use the birthing pool. I just wondered if there was anyone in the same boat as i?

MotherOfNations · 29/05/2013 15:14

Umlauf You may find that you don't put on much more weight now so it will level out. I always seem to gain a lot in the first 20 weeks then barely anything in the remainder of the pregnancy.

MotherOfNations · 29/05/2013 15:18

Flyer when I'd just had dd2 I was told that Groub B strep wad picked up when I was swabbed a few days previous. Dd spent a few hours in SCBU and wad given antibiotics.
I'm still not sure if I passed it on to her or not. The antibiotics may have just been a precaution. She was born via c section so the risk should have been pretty low.

claphammama · 29/05/2013 15:21

falcon sorry to hear you are feeling so low... it's good you are so careful about keeping it in check, before it gets out of control. Really hope your appointment helps - sometimes talking to someone who understands and doesn't try to trivialise it makes all the difference.
Ruby Wax came to our office once to give a talk (she's suffered from depression all her life) and I remember how she commented on her friends and family telling her to "get a grip" or "think about positive things". She said: "yes, if I had two brains, perhaps one brain could tell the other brain to do it". Thought it was quite a good way to put it!

I wish I lost my taste for alcohol! Did in my first pregnancy but not in this one. Although this weather helps a lot - I crave a cold glass of rose or white wine mainly on lovely summer evenings. I can cope quite well these days then!

warlin as you know I understand you 100%... I'm trying to take one day at a time and forget about the number of days left before my maternity leave... we will get there!

I honestly feel like a terrible person today... DP has many old friends in Cheltenham who suddenly fancy coming to visit us for a weekend. But I honestly can't face it and don't want anyone to come... We've just come back from the long bank holiday weekend at his mum's and the house is a complete mess. We both work full time and don't get in until 6.30 - 7pm. So all food shopping, washing, ironing and everything else that needs to be done needs to be done during weekends. We are so behind now that I don't even know where to start with the mountain of washing we have. I'm also really tired after a week of work and don't fancy rushing on Saturday morning to prepare everything, go shopping, tidy up the house and cook... I would love to have them for dinner or lunch but the whole weekend of hosting just feels too much... I feel like I'm being selfish and unsociable.... but it stresses me so much. Do you think it's bad and I should think about it differently...? Ironically, they never have time to see us when we go to Cheltenham...

Shirehobbit · 29/05/2013 15:21

Congratulations takingachance - there's loads of us due on the 13th! I wonder if any of them will actually arrive then?

Less than an hour, Haley!

claphammama · 29/05/2013 15:27

congrats taking! just seen your post. And good luck hayley!

Racheld33 · 29/05/2013 15:29

claphammamma we had friends up from London 2 weeks ago, it was only for 24 hours, but I dreaded it, spent all week preparing/worrying/shopping/cooking/cleaning, and when they left I was sooo exhausted it took me a week to recover, so completely understand how you feel!

Racheld33 · 29/05/2013 15:31

Also umlauf I agree with what someone else said, that you might find you don't put much more weight on now. When I was pregnant with DS I put on 2 stone very quickly (20 weeks ish) and then just half a stone for the next 20 weeks, without any kind of dieting. Also it really did just fall off me afterwards, so try not to worry x x x

claphammama · 29/05/2013 15:42

Thanks rachel, so good to know I'm not the only one finding these things stressful. It's also the fact that we moved only 6 months ago and there is still so much we need / want to do before the baby arrives... So much decorating, so many things to buy and sort out... when? I'm over 19 weeks now, we lose a couple of weeks for weddings, a couple more for holidays, one for DP's friend's stag do, surely a couple for visiting his old mum who lives on her own... so we don't have many weekends left and I don't want to be rushing to do things when it's hot in July or I'm 35 weeks pregnant and massive

MrsAFlowerpot · 29/05/2013 15:54

Umlauf I put on huge amounts of weight with DD which was mostly water. I've stayed far away from the scales where possible as I was at my fittest and lowest weight pre pregnancy and don't want to know!! But I agree - after 11mo ttc id much rather be in this position Smile

Natalieand · 29/05/2013 17:43

Blimey that was alot of reading

I'm drinking about 2 medium sized glasses if coke sometimes diet sometimes full fat I don't drink tea/coffee

Weight gain- I'm 20+2 and have gained 6.5 lbs which is almost hilarious as I weigh 20ish stone so I'm hardly a small eater

I can't seem to stop gagging today its awful I thought I was gunna throw up in the Asda milk aisle today!

flyer have u had any movements yet? I seem to have started feeling some in the last few days quite low down and
I'm 99.9% sure its baby

hayle good luck at the scan and too all those who has scanned today lots of lovely good news :-)

textbook · 29/05/2013 17:46

I've always really struggled with my weight, and put on over 6 stone in my last pregnancy Shock I definitely took 'eating for two' in a very literal way, and used it as an excuse to be a total pig [ashamed]

I managed to lose the weight afterwards (and a bit more besides), but it was a long hard slog if I'm honest.

This time is very different, as I've put on less than half a stone at 21+5. I'm just being careful and was walking lots (but now have SPD so am definitely doing much less than I was a few weeks ago).

The weight gain from last time is one of the reasons I will have a 6 year age gap between my dcs - I was terrified of getting pregnant and stacking it all on again. All your 2 stone gains sound perfectly normal and reasonable to me, so try not to worry Smile

I also had PND last time, and will be straight to the doctor at the first sign of any trouble.

Lovely to hear more good scan news today! The spreadsheet is so unbalanced re. boys/girls, surely all remaining scanners must be having girls to even it out?!?

JellyCurls · 29/05/2013 17:46

Just back from MW and heard heartbeat again Smile although baby still hiding in my pelvis so took a while to find it. She was lovely and told me pains I had last night are my bodies way of saying rest and left leg swelling is cause of where baby lying

SeriousStuff · 29/05/2013 17:52

Re. weight - I don't know anymore! I'm 21+4 and haven't weighed myself in a while. With the house move I've just been eating what's convenient but now diet's back to normal, I'll weigh again next week. But I'm sure I've put on about 1.5 stones.

I wanted to say thanks again for your support after my mini meltdown last night - had the meeting with my new MW today, they had to do bloods again and 20wk scan is booked for next Thurs. I asked her to check the heartbeat and all sounds good.

I didn't want to jinx it, but I definitely felt the baby wriggling about all morning today - amazing!

OrangeBlossom2 · 29/05/2013 18:22

Congrats on scans and reassuring appointments.
Umlauf, I meant the photo of you with bump on a beach from a while back.
Falcon, sorry hare feeling so low. Well done for getting yourself motivated to get help to try to sort it out early.

Natalie, how are you feeling these days?

Clapham, I understand how you feel. We have DHs parents coming just for the day on Saturday before they take us to a concert, then bil and his girlfriend for Sunday lunch the next day. After holiday and sharing our house with my sister and her toddler for weeks there is so much washing and cleaning to be done. MIL usually makes some comment about the state of the house or "helpfully" does things like buys me cleaning cloths I might like. Can you suggest eating out with the friends instead of cooking for them? Can you hide things like piles of washing in one room and close that door so you only need to sort living room and bathroom? (my classic move!)

OrangeBlossom2 · 29/05/2013 18:41

Thanks for the list on Facebook gt.

Flyer747 · 29/05/2013 18:42

Natalie I felt something low down earlier on today. It was like a popping sensation, the only way i can describe it was like that popping candy you put in your mouth, low in my tummy but that was it and I'm not sure what these movements are meant to feel like!

Glad you've started feeling something!

Natalieand · 29/05/2013 18:46

Very sweet of you to ask orange, if u mean how do I feel about having a boy? I'm coming round to the idea slowly but surely. If u mean in general then yeh not too bad just got such a bad back but other than that probly just the same as everyone else, how r u feeling?

falcon sorry your feeling a little on the low side I went through this a few weeks back. I am often up and down with my moods/feeling low never had to go on anti depressants for it though hope your feeling cheerier sooner rather than later.

MoN when is your anatomy scan? Keeping fingers crossed for u xx

Just need HONEST opinions - no offence will be taken- what do u ladies think of the name Noah?

Natalieand · 29/05/2013 18:47

Sorry flyer i cross posted, what your describing definately sounds like baby's movements to me :-)! Xxx

Haylebop12 · 29/05/2013 18:49

orange sometimes I hide things in the oven Blush

clapham I second eating out. We had dh's two brothers and two nephews come to stay Sunday and Monday night. To keep costs low we cooked for them before they went on Tuesday, my kitchen looked like a bomb had gone off. Fortunately dh did a lot of the hosting, too right since it was his family! So make sure dh does his bit Smile

So I've joined the boy camp! So very shocked... But have been to but boy things. Baby was very co operative and we even saw its face. Then sonohrapher was lovely and very informative. My placenta is high and at the back, as I thought as I have felt some strong movements. Was lovely getting a long look at baby.

Flyer747 · 29/05/2013 18:55

Congrats Haylebop as I said on the FB thread was convinced you were having a girl with all that sickness. How exciting. Whoever said about the surprises being girls, I think you have to be right!

Natalie I really like Noah a nice biblical name and it goes well with your surname :-) x
