Umlauf most of the gel polishes are pretty similar it's just practice and it's pretty easy to get the hang of...The nails inc, shellac and Jessica gel polish are in my opinion no better than the cheaper brands its just the name you pay for. I'm sure they'll look lovely.

Natalieand · 29/05/2013 22:07

Laying on the sofa feeling definate baby boy kicks having just eaten some onion rings (the crisp type) although profiteroles sounds pretty good to me right now

cuille I just said to dh, 'one of the ladies on the thread in laws want to buy them a blender for the baby guess how much it is'
his guesses went like this
£10, £20, £60, £100, £200, £400, £600, £1000!!! He thought I was winding him up lol

Flyer747 · 29/05/2013 22:14

Omg a grand on a blender...nice gesture but maybe a tad ott :-)

roofio87 · 29/05/2013 22:32

flyer I'm not doing NCT, just going to do a parenting course in surestart centre round the corner I think! but the nearly new sale sounds good, I love any excuse for a visit to lark lane so might go check it out!!

claphammama · 29/05/2013 22:48

nice approach with MIL sanji!

mrs0 yes, itchy tummy here. It's normal and I had it in my first pregnancy too. It's just your skin stretching. I'm sure it wasn't that early though - I'm only 19 weeks. Must be much bigger this time. Creams help sooth it. I'm using Neal's Yard Mothers Balm. It' s organic so no nasty chemicals in and I love it. It's quite pricey but it lasts for months!

Natalie I think Casper is my favourite on your list. Really love it and quite unusual. Noah is lovely too.
congrats on your boy Hayley! the boy numbers are getting ridiculous

cuillereasoupe · 30/05/2013 06:36

My tummy and back were massively itchy early on but are fine now.

Natalieand · 30/05/2013 07:05

Best of luck too anyone scanning today! I wonder how many more boys we'll have! X

Natalieand · 30/05/2013 07:48

Now just a thought, and no this may sound rediculous but I've only ever had a girl. Is there some kind of skill involved or special method to changing a boys nappy? Would I look like an absolute idiot if I asked the midwives to show me after he is born?

JellyCurls · 30/05/2013 07:53

natalie make sure his wee winkie is facing down and tucked in Smile oh and have a cloth on standby for nappy changes boys are notorious for peeing the minute their nappy is off. Ask my DH, don't think he has ever had to have so many changes of clothes

PseudoBadger · 30/05/2013 07:56

Open the nappy right up and then close it and wait a couple of seconds. That usually dealt with the 'wee in face' :o

Morning all! Just checking in to this one!

Cullie... Your in laws are crazy. If, as lots and lots of people do (it's now the officially recommended approach by health visitors) you do baby led weaning (I did it - cannot recommend highly enough) you won't need a blender at all. You literally will not use it once.... I never blended a single thing.

I feel for you all with anterior placentas - had it with DD and felt nothing until 25 weeks! Lots of movements this time. I can feel that they're deffo breach though at the moment! I am 23 weeks tomorrow and have another scan (I get them every 3-4 weeks!).... Eek!

legallyblond · 30/05/2013 08:19

Also, i can't remember... Is anyone considering reusable nappies? I used them with DD from a couple of weeks old until 20 months, so do ask if you want tips! I actually found it more of a hassle having to use disposables (on holiday etc) and probably saved literally half the volume of my house in landfill and hundreds and hundreds of £s!!

TheFalconsmistress · 30/05/2013 10:00

Morning it was me legally with the cloth nappies I so far have bought 3 itti bitti d.lish 1 fuzzibunz and one papoose any more brands you recommend I am having a girl if that makes a difference Smile

JellyCurls · 30/05/2013 10:06

Falcon, I used real nappies with dc1 & 2 and although ones we had were great the world of real nappies has moved on a lot in past 7 years. Check out a website called "the nappy lady", I filled in a questionnaire online there and she mailed me back what she would recommend. Thinking about buying new ones this time round as stupidly gave my last ones away and after 4 years of washing the waterproofs were not that good anymore

Shirehobbit · 30/05/2013 10:07

We were keen to use reuseables legally, but when we researched it, because of our need to tumble dry (living in very wet Manchester, baby arriving over winter, living in a small terrace with no drying space) it worked out at being less environmentally friendly.
I'd love to be proved wrong? Is there a way we could do it?
A friend recommended some eco-friendly disposables, but they are quite expensive Confused

JellyCurls · 30/05/2013 10:10

Shire you get microfibre nappies now that take virtually no drying. Bit more expensive to buy than cotton or terries but saves on tumble drying. Will see if I can find name of them online

Shootingstarsandcomets · 30/05/2013 10:36

Ds got me this morning as I changed him- think I would have learnt by now!
Also just weighed myself and have only put on 4kg, thought it would be much more so am quite pleased with that. I feel like its more though and my bum and thighs have expanded almost as much as my tum Sad

Smitten1981 · 30/05/2013 10:48

I'm considering reusables too, we don't have a tumble dryer though so wondering if it might be too much hassle.

Smitten1981 · 30/05/2013 10:49

Also, I've read quite a bit about leaking issues with reusables. I'd appreciate any first hand advice about them actually as I'm not really to thrilled at the thought of using disposables.

TheFalconsmistress · 30/05/2013 11:05

Doctor was awful made me feel like the worst mum in the world for needing meds :( I asked is there any thats safe to take and he basically said no it was all about clinical risk :'(

Slippysnow · 30/05/2013 11:08

I don't think I'm organised enough to use reusables. Sorry environment - I'll try to make it up to you in other ways.

Also I can't remember who had the dream that the baby's hand was poking out of their stomach. I had the same dream but I loved it as I could trace the baby's limbs and knew they were fine. However, the dream got slightly more weird when I stood against the window and my stomach lit up like a ultrasound scan revealing baby swimming about looking very cute.

Slippysnow · 30/05/2013 11:12

Sorry falcon I posted over you. That's terrible practice of the gp don't let it deter you. Surely their are some safe meds or alternative therapies/support he could put you in touch with.

Maybe check out the other treads, Im sure there is one on depression and you will get more compassion and experience there along with phone numbers and websites for further help.

I feel for you, what a bad way to be handled. Don't give up until you get the support you deserve

roofio87 · 30/05/2013 11:13

falcon that's awful. and he didn't offer any other advice or treatment? speak to your midwife, I'm sure she's much more up on information about pre and post natal depression and explain that you feel more help and advice should be offered. doctors can be so terrible at times. sending hugs x

TheFalconsmistress · 30/05/2013 11:19

He said nothing more just i will prescribe you something, never told me what that would be nothing never mentioned specialist midwife or support networks nothing. I am flummoxed Confused

Slippysnow · 30/05/2013 11:29

You shouldn't ever take something that the doctor has prescribed without explanation. Especially when pregnant, I agree speak to your midwife.
