I just had a call from the hospital I'm transferring to (The Rosie) to book in my 20 week scan. I'm booked in for the scan at the old hospital (Lister) tomorrow - argh!

Why does this kind of thing always happen? I requested the transfer weeks ago. I told her that I'm having the scan at Lister tomorrow as planned so not to worry about booking me in with them, but I hope they haven't transferred me already and I turn up for the scan tomorrow and it's been cancelled.

Urgh!

Congrats to the scanners today. Good balance of boys and girls for a change!

pinkmoonlight · 04/06/2013 17:25

Congratulations to today's scanners and I hope everything went well today for you legally

Scan day tomorrow- alternating between excitement and extreme nerves! xxx

OrangeBlossom2 · 04/06/2013 19:02

Congrats to today's scanners. Clapham, placentas often move up higher and you get to see your baby again! Fingers crossed everything is fine for the birth you want still.

Thanks flyer, yes I wore lots of sun cream, sunglasses and a hat! I looked a bit silly with all that and my fluorescent yellow safety jacket. Mrs health and safety! Had a good trip and didn't lose/injure any children which is always good! I was dreaming about losing children in lifts last night.

FeministInTraining · 04/06/2013 19:21

Congratulations to all the scanees since I last caught up and good luck to those scanning tomorrow.

Sorry to hear you're having a difficult time Umlauf. My mum is a bravissimo bra fitter and I've heard many a story about the difficulties some women face even before beong pregnant so don't feel bad for venting.

Claphammama I hope your placenta moves up before your next scan and that it will just be a nice opportunity to see your little boy again Smile

Hope it all goes well for Legally today!

Pannacotta2013 · 04/06/2013 19:52

Thanks textbook, I've added myself to the spreadsheet.

Congratulations on scans and good luck for today Legally

Is anyone else noticing that their appetite is all over the place? Most Some days I feel like I will never be full again, but today I've not got any appetite really. I think it must be it line with growth spurts (or so I hope, not just me being greedy).

Slippysnow · 04/06/2013 19:55

clapham my friend really panicked about her low lying placenta, but it moved and her midwife told her it was really common for them to move before labour. Try not to stress (as difficult as that is) fingers crossed for you any way

PseudoBadger · 04/06/2013 20:08

Yep Clapham, placentas can only go up/stay the same, not move down so hopefully things can only get better.

Where are you based smitten ? I was going to opt for the Lister but self referred to Barnet General as I had DD there by EMCS so thought better the devil you know...

Have been thinking of legally

PseudoBadger · 04/06/2013 21:00

Quite a lot of us North London/Herts people on this thread...

Smitten1981 · 04/06/2013 21:46

I'm near Hitchin in Herts.

OrangeBlossom2 · 04/06/2013 21:51

Lots of positive thoughts for legally.

Just been to Pilates. My tummy muscles are doing weird things now so that when I do a curl up my tummy goes into a sort of pyramid shape. My belly button is also starting to pop out a bit but only at retrain angles/when I tense muscles at the moment.

Natalieand · 04/06/2013 22:30

If I had £1 for every big painful spot I had on my face in the last fortnight I could afford to raise an army of children. Anyone else? Lol

claphammama · 04/06/2013 22:31

Thanks so much everyone! X I wish I could do something to make it move but just have to wait and hope.

We made the baby official on Facebook today, we have a lot of friends abroad or people we no longer keep in touch with regularly, so we had a busy evening of lovely phone calls and messages.

I'm getting used to the thought of having another boy and really happy about it! We had no preference but, somehow, I thought it would be a girl... probably because this pregnancy felt so different! So it turned out to be a bit of a shock - in the best possible way. I can finally discuss names with DP - yay!! DP thinks that only because we already have a boy and lots of baby boy things, I'm not going to buy much... hmmm, little does he know... :-)

Hope legally is OK and we will hear from her soon!

Good luck to tomorrow's scanners!

Smitten1981 · 05/06/2013 07:38

Yay scan day and then new car shopping! Excited.

PseudoBadger · 05/06/2013 08:34

Have fun!
I'm feeling a bit wistful as all my June group are having their babies. But I'm well on the October bus now so I'm grateful for that :)

How are you today legally ?

Flyer was it you who knew all about gel nails? Total thread hijack here! I put mine on on Wednesday and by Friday already had to fill in a few bits so gave them all another coat, and they had started peeling off the ends of my nails by yesterday! Getting them off was a right pain and left my nails looking worse for wear so I really want them to last longer. I followed the instructions, did my best at capping etc... What did I do wrong?! Got a second try on now in a different colour...

claphammama yay names! What have you thought of so far?

TheFalconsmistress · 05/06/2013 09:32

After saying that i feel her loads last night she decided not to move an inch which is odd for Willow and freaked me out overnight I could not sleep. I put the doppler on her this morning and she woke up kicked it and me a few times in annoyance and is back to sleep!! I am full of the cold maybe its making her sleepy. I felt her at like 11pm so not unreasonable not feel her till this morning but her pattern had shifted honestly babies like to worry you!

legally hope you are ok

Pseudo you well and truly are on the Oct bus so much to look forward too but i can understand being sad Flowers

claphammama · 05/06/2013 09:49

good luck smitten and enjoy!

umlauf my DP still doesn't take it seriously and keeps winding me up saying that the baby should be called Hannibal! Honestly though, the only name we seem to both like at the moment is Conrad. What does everyone think about it? I also like Oscar but it's far too popular right now and too many little Oscars in DP's school. I like Casper but the only comment DP can manage is "casper the friendly ghost". And, obviously, I'm not allowed Felix as the only reaction I get is "felix the cat"... Another one I love is Theo but DS is Leonardo (Leo) - Leo and Theo may sound like a comedy duo! sigh

Umlauf · 05/06/2013 10:02

My husband is like that clapham Sad he can't get past making silly rhymes, and the name cannot be associated with anyone. I loved names such as Frank (vicar of dibley) Hamnet (Shakespeare's son, he actually went to the front of buying a ham and a hairnet and leaving them in the fridge to joke about that one!!) and old family names such as Stamford. I have unusual taste!

DH wanted Rodney. NOTHING is as good as Rodney for him.

I've managed to get Albert because he is a massive science geek and I linked it to Einstein!

Hannibal is fairly cool in the roman emperor sense! And Felix is Latin too... Maybe you could go down the Latin name route to compromise?! Marcus? Antony? Julius? Nero? maximus? Brutus?! Ok maybe not Brutus!!!

Flyer747 · 05/06/2013 10:15

Umlauf, a few reasons why they may have peeled....

  1. The gel polish needs to be shaken before using it really well.
  1. Did you apply the coats too thick? The product needs to be applied really thinly, often peeling gel polish is a result of thick application.
  1. Make sure the nail is completely free of grease oils dirt. If there is any remaining oil left on your nail plate before applying the polish it will lift as it has no solid base to stick too.
  1. Capping/sealing if you seal the edge too thick again it will lift/peel within a few days.
  1. Or finally it could be the lamp you are using isn't very good, often the case and if so wouldn't cure the nail properly check the wattage of it and let me know what it is mine is a 36 watt uv lamp.

Anymore questions let me know!! Good Luck

thethreeblondies · 05/06/2013 10:16

What is it with DH's and name discussions!

Think we will be ok if it's a girl as front runner is Amelia (I also like previously shortlisted ones from DD's Beatrice, Felicity, Francesca)

If it's a boy we will struggle, on the table at the moment is Harrison, also not ruled out Edward or Thomas but DH loves game of thrones/Star wars/LFC and some random names keep cropping up Grin He doesn't seem to get that the name needs to "go with" Olivia and Eleanor!

Smitten1981 · 05/06/2013 10:20

My DH is still gunning for Gulliver, he keeps referring to "Little Gulliver", I'm like "don't try and brainwash me, it's not happening".

The only names we agree on are Felix or Wilbur

I still love Seth the most, but DH hates it and admittedly, it doesn't really go with our chosen middle names.

I'm still secretly hoping they say it's a girl at the scan today and the other one was wrong!

Wickedgirl · 05/06/2013 10:48

mrsaflowerpot........ Where are you based? You must be close to me (st Albans) to be in the middle of lister and barnet. I too have opted for barnet.......I'm hoping for the mlu

Warlin · 05/06/2013 10:54

thethree ds1 is Thomas and we are going with Edward! DH did mention they might get Tedward (sounds like Jedward!) but I figure by the time they are old enough to notice, Jedward will be a thing of the past!

smitten hope you get your scan today ok but just insist on it..the scanner is there and the sonographer will be there so jsut tell them you're not going home until you get one!

Hope leglly got on ok yesterday....

Loving this weather...things seem so much easier in this weather. My bump pains from last week have gone thankfully, though I still get a stitch when I walk. I was looking at bump in the mirror last night and have decided that I'm huge for 23 weeks! Hope I don't get that much bigger :/
