Just starting a new thread as we're starting to run out of room on the first. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/a1716486-December-2013#38680515

quietninga Nomde feather frouby mumof2boys and weechops everyone

Thank you for the kind words and thoughts--I know I keep leaching on for them!

I will have more tests at 20 weeks...I'll also go see someone at the Women's Wellness Center to see if they can take a 'better' look although I think I may just be wasting my time. However at this point I may just be planning on bankrupting us to see if I can find the missing vessel.

Went to see my gp's this morning and they've told me to stay positive and that this happens to a lot people and they have perfect babies...it's just that my son was perfect (is still perfect in my eyes but still has Autism; although he's high functioning and verbalhe still has ASD) and I just want one experience to go typically. I'm sorry for saying this here, I just can't talk like this infront of normal friends.

The looks I get when I speak candidly--it gets soo uncomfortable for other people...

frouby
well done to you! I told my housekeeper about you and she is also following suit. I know you can do it. Not sure about HK, though. However I've told her she cant be near new baby if she keeps smoking the way she does.

Gannetgob · 31/05/2013 11:14

Thanks for asking about me guys. I phoned the midwife this morning and she said to book an appointment with the doctor and he would refer me for a scan. I'm seeing him in about an hour.

I'm just a bit concerned that he won't refer me as I have my scan this time next week. Also, if I have a scan today, does that mean I won't have my scan next week? Hubby definitely cant be back today if I have to have one and I'd hate him to miss out. I'm sure it wouldn't be the end of the world though.

Anyway, well done on going ciggie free frouby! Must be hard - just keep on with the winegums!

Feather, your experience sounds awful - I'm glad you got what you wanted in the end!

Queen, I'm sorry that you are going through such worry. Keep your chin up! I hope you find out what you need to soon.

I dont know whether everyone already knows about this, but take a look at the bra intervention thread on here! I have been wearing a 36/38C for years. I used their way of measuring yesterday, and I am actually a 34E! My bra feels so much better than any bra I have ever worn. You should check it out! Especially before buying maternity bras!

yogafan · 31/05/2013 11:53

Thanks for the bra tip feather and good luck at the doctors. Hopefully this can just be reassurance scan, and they can do dating/nuchal measurement next week with your DP?

Sorry you seem to be having unending stress queen please keep talking to us and sharing how you feel, must be tough not being able to talk openly about all these things in RL. Hope you get the reassurance you need soon, I'd get second opinion with women's health place if you can afford it.

cc sorry your boss is such a total incompetent, lazy, good for nothing arse. Hope you have a restful day and home and don't spend the day fuming. Can you point out his failings to him or would that make matters worse? Can you arm yourself with some demands - to make working easier while preg - for when you're next at work? Good luck with it.

yogafan · 31/05/2013 12:47

Sorry, I meant ganet not feather!

froubylou · 31/05/2013 14:23

Ganet I would imagine you will still get your scheduled scan hun as they have to measure certain things at certain weeks. Let us know how it goes.

Feel shocking this afternoon. Dunno if its some mad pgy induced hayfever or a cold coming on. Eyes and nose streaming and cant stop sneezing. Add to that my stop smoking cough and my poor pelvic floor having a major work out lol.

And tomorrow I have a bbq from hell to endure sigh. Dps friends. Hubby lovely, wife and her friends evil stepford wife typd creatures who spend all their time bitching about each other, competing on everything from furniture to hair to nails to kids. Usually get through the day by 1) getting pissed and 2) sneaking round the back of the garage with OH for a fag and whinge lol.

Can do neither so will be trapped with the nasty girls forthe duration. Sigh.

Have a feeling I may end up insulting someone lol. Can always blame the hormones rather than admit I need to be fairly pissed to be able to spend any timd with.

Pony show on sunday though and need OH to come with us at the min so have to compromise somewhere.

ccsays · 31/05/2013 16:51

yogafan thanks, I had a wee sleep for a couple of hours and feel much better Smile This is the guy below my boss (who is also rubbish) and he's an arrogant twat who thinks everyone else is beneath him. I'm actually looking into an OU degree in social work part time (got an open evening on the 6th) and I plan to only work part-time after mat leave, so I'm just telling myself that all I need to do is make it to the end of October. Will definitely see about making working easier, it's written into mat policy (which I doubt team leader or boss have read) that the need to allow me breaks to take tiredness into account.

Bugger it, Dominos for dinner tonight I think. Feeling bleurgh. The baby needs pepperoni, right?

Gannetgob · 31/05/2013 18:05

All is good! Heartbeat is fine and baby was wriggling around like a loon! So relieved!

I will still be having the scan next week, so that's good too.

Frouby, I'm sorry you are feeling rubbish. BBQ sounds rubbish too. Just either be a bitch to them or disappear inside for a bit!

Ccsays, work sounds crap. Its not long until October, keep telling yourself that when its bad! Dominos sounds good. I'm pretty sure that my midwife said pepperoni is essential for a healthy baby! We are having Chinese - similar health benefits to pepperoni I believe!

MildredH · 31/05/2013 18:14

Ugh Frouby I feel your pain. I've just come off night shifts and DH and I are going for a family meal for my brothers ( who I don't get on with) birthday tonight. Would usually resort to a bottle to get through it.. Don't think j2o will have quite the same effect!

mumoftwoboysS · 31/05/2013 20:56

mm takeaways! I have avoided them so far for fear of chucking it all back up again- but nausea is almost gone so maybe I'll risk it next week! I miss a good chinese takaway...

good luck with the bbq froubylou I'm so antisocial atm, would rather stay in and snuggle up on the sofa! I think the lack of wine is making it less appealiing! (not that I drank like a fish before but certainly enjoyed a wine or 3)

So anyone know what the normal rate of weight gain should be? I've put on nearly 1/2 stone in about 6 weeks! I was at the lower end of my optimal BMI so can afford to put some on but also don't want to be putting on 3 stone or so! I'm just so goddam hungry all the time....

trying to figure out what the hell to wear to meet some friends tomorrow who won't know I'm preggers- with a bloated/pot belly stomach....hmm

Glad to hear all is well gannet!

2Labradors · 31/05/2013 20:57

gannet I'm so glad your scan went well.

ccsays sorry your work is being so rubbish

queen I'm sorry your having a worrying time

frouby I feel your pain about the hay fever. Mines been quite bad these past few days, my nose seems to be constantly streaming.

I felt some lovely little flutterings after a cup of tea today, am 14 weeks now. Got a fun packed weekend ahead too which I'm looking forward to now I've got a bit more energy, can have a bit of a social life again!

froubylou · 31/05/2013 21:29

Severly fooked off.

Hayfever very, very bad. Nose bright red and I know I will have a massive coldsore within a day or two. Sneezed 5 times so hard I felt something pop/twang in my tumy and Ive had 2 nosebleeds with all the sneezing. Everytime I sneeze have to cross my legs or I piddle my pants.

And to top it all Ive had a fag. Sooo fooooked off with myself and the hayfever. Which apparantly can be made worse by stopping smoking. Something to do with the fags killing off the little hairs in your airways which are responsible for producing histamines. Google is a bitch sometimes.

Would rather have hayfever than smoke so going to chemist tomorrow to see if I can get anything safe to take while pg. Cant cope with this all summer on top of being pg scared Il hurt the baby by sneezing so dramatically.

So am in bed and took patch of hours ago to torture myself for having fag.

Only good thing I can think of is severe piss your pants hayfever a good excuse for leaving shitty bbq early.

Sorry to moan sp dramatically about something so trivial when some are going through tough times.

FluffyDucky · 31/05/2013 21:33

Frouby, try not to beat yourself up. You are human AND pregnant! I don't smoke but I understand it is not easy to give up, you can and will do it, stay positive.

Is anyone using anything on their skin (boobs, tum etc) for stretch marks? I had been using bio oil but I find it such a faff and don't like the feel. I got a voucher for 50p of mum & me range, I've just tried the BUMP, sooth & nourish body lotion. It smells so nice and feels lovely! My skin on my waist has been quite itchy so hopefully it will help. I just need to remember to apply it regularly lol!

Featherbag · 31/05/2013 22:13

Frouby, 1 fag isn't the end of the world, start again as of now! And get your GP to prescribe some chlorphenamine, it's safe in pregnancy and although cheap as chips to buy OTC you might as well make use of your free prescriptions! There's a nasal spray you can use too, ask your GP.

I used bio-oil during my last pregnancy, and even though I was the size of the moon, and I have a million stretch marks from weight gain/loss over the years, I didn't get a single new one during the pregnancy. I've started using it again, the smell brings memories flooding back!

mumoftwoboysS · 31/05/2013 22:27

fluffy I got a sample of BUMP - just tryng it now as I hadn't opened it! Does smell nice. I've also been given a tube of Maternicare Pre & Post natal nourishing cream-(never heard of it till now but its by the company that make Colief infant drops??) that smells nice too! I guess I'll use up the Maternicare then see what to buy if I run out. Used bio oil in the past too and don't like the runny consisency- prefer creams. Palmers Cocoa Butter stretchmark cream is good -really rich, but only good if you like the strong smell of cocoa butter.

I've only got 1 stretchmark from my last 2 pregnancies on my tum (where I used to have a belly ring- maybe the skin was thinner there?) boobs suffered more from stretching from normally modest size to Pamela Anderson size within days after the births!! This time I'll try covering boobs too!

mumoftwoboysS · 31/05/2013 22:29

talking about free prescriptions- when are we supposed to get our exemption cards? I had my booking in apt a few weeks ago- does it take a while?

b0nker5Mum · 31/05/2013 23:23

Frouby, not sure how helpful it is or whether they are safe but have you tried the e-cigs? I've heard they don't have any of the chemicals but that could be just ex smokers trying to kid themselves!!

I bought a doppler and spent an hour worrying the baby has a slow heart rate and then found the real heart rate...! Haven't found it since though...

Been a busy week as we've completed on the house and now up to our necks in stripped wallpaper and dodgy double glazing salesmen! Also have a month to get our flat really to be rented out.. eek!!

froubylou · 01/06/2013 07:04

Morning all

Shitty nights sleep. Up sneezing and snotting all night which is brilliant. So not only do I have red eyed from itching all day I also have black bags under them lol.

Going to chemist as soon as it opens. I need something to deal with this.
Feel like a drama queen but honestly I've never had hayfever so bad in my life.

Patch back on and no ciggies for me. No matter what. Didn't enjoy it anyway, tasted vile. Bonker5mum the ecigs aren't approved or regulated in anyway. Would have probably given them a try for emergancies if I wasn't PG but darent whilst I am.

I'm really busy today too so could do with feeling 100% not 20% lol. Got a dirty grey pony to make sparkly white for a show on sunday, all the show gear to get out and iron and pack ready for the morning, house is a bomb and I have the BBQ from Hell to endure.

I honestly don't know where these women get off. One of them once said to me 'Ooooo, you're wearing a Firetrap top. Does that make you a chav?'. Another said that my car (04 mazda 6) was a death trap for me and DD as it wasn't top of the range brand new. And another of them said that DD shouldn't have ponies as she'd grow up bowlegged, smelling of horseshit with rubbish nails and never find a nice boyfriend! Did point out to that particular sweetheart that I grew up bowlegged with bad nails smelling of horseshit and my OH earns about double what her OH does so it means I don't have to work full time and rely on nursery to raise my DD. No offence to anyone that does work fulltime (I used to) and relies on nursery.

FFS. Have a good mind to go straight there from bathing pony and delibraltely get horse shit down my nails and sit and pick out in front of them lol. At least if I smell of wet horse and horse shit no one will be inclined to sit with me and I can pop my (chavvy) raybans on and ignore the lot of them.

FluffyDucky · 01/06/2013 08:06

Lol Frouby, use your withdrawl powers to take them on, be wild!!

Mumof2, I got mine in about 1-2 weeks but the midwife said they can take upto 4-5 so I wouldn't worry yet

LadyMedea · 01/06/2013 10:17

frouby I'm afraid the chemist can only recommend saline nasal spray. Worth getting but not the answer. The only antihistamines which you can use during pregnancy are the old school ones that make you drowsy like phenergan (also prescribed for morning sickness strangely) or piriton (not piritezez) but they don't even like to prescribe those. You should be able to get them to prescribe a steroid nasal spray which should work. Get an appointment with the doc.

Featherbag · 01/06/2013 10:28

Those waiting for the exemptions certs, sorry if asking a stupid question but did you send off the application form? I only ask as first time round the MW assumed I knew to do this, and of course I didn't, only managed to avoid a fine because of my lovely GP writing a lovely letter pleading baby brain on my behalf! This time I got the card a week after posting the form, 2nd class too!

QueenofWhispers · 01/06/2013 12:05

I still haven't applied for mine. I should do it soon though.

Dh and and I are now having a horrible argument. It's weeks like these that I really wish I had never moved to the UK. We're both upset about the lack of family time and are getting very upset with each other over it.

Best friend is coming in tonight and has promised to bring a bag load of taco bell. At least there will be a silver lining to today.

violetbean · 01/06/2013 13:04

Big sympathy and un-MNy hugs to those suffering! Hope bbq goes ok, frouby.

My exemption certificate came through automatically so I assume the GP/midwife sent off the form for me!

I just had a 1 hour car journey that made me feel sick as a parrot. Currently recovering with a Pret ham & cheese croissant before braving the underground. Bleurgh!

violetbean · 01/06/2013 15:03

Hehehe just realised I didn't mean sick as a parrot. I just meant sick. (not disappointed). Feeling better now :) Hope your afternoons are going well!

ccsays · 01/06/2013 16:50

Thanks for the good wishes all, glad to hear your scan went well gannet Smile

Cancelled my Weight Watchers online membership, due to being up the duff and all and got an email back saying ?We will be delighted to help you shed those unwanted pregnancy pounds after your baby has been born!? Urgh Angry

Took the day off work today, still feeling a bit shite. DP is away on his brother-in-law to be's stag weekend, so I'm going to sit in with a curry and a Mad Men marathon I think.

mumoftwoboysS · 01/06/2013 17:05

Just got my exemption card through the post today! MW did mine at the booking in appointment so I didn't have to fill in any forms either.

When did your 'bumps' start popping out?? (if they have already) I can't quite believe it but I have a permanent pot belly now at 11 weeks and it definitely didn't happen till about 13 weeks last time- I guess that's what happens when all the stomach muscles are shot to bits after 2 pregnancies- lol! I really can't hide it any more but don't want to tell everyone for another 2 weeks!...

frouby those women sound like a nightmare- talk about comparing everyone and what is 'in' and what people should and shouldn't have! SAD- At least you can pity them as all they have to talk about is stuff that really isn't important in life! I'd hate to spend time with shallow people like that too!!

ANyway- better go finish cooking dinner!....
