<whispers into the dark> hellllooooo. Anyone there?

I got my BFP this morning and my EDD date is December 5th. Baby number 1.
Anyone else yet?

Morning!
I too have found out yesterday that I am pregnant and using the Clearblue Digital test it says that I conceived 1-2 weeks ago.... making also an early December baby! :D

Congrats xxxxx

TakingTheStairs Mon 25-Mar-13 10:07:57

Morning Gosh Congratulations to you too. I had the exact same. 1-2 on the CB digital.
Christmas is going to be a whirl this year eh!

HAHA! yes I agree......this is my second baby have a son who is 7....Christmas is mad as it is lol! smile

Congrats again xx how does your OH feel? x

TakingTheStairs Mon 25-Mar-13 10:37:20

My DH is delighted. Already talking about the books he wants to read (the MN guide to pregnancy being one) Lord above I hope the child is as clever as he is. (2 weeks and I'm already thinking about the child's intelligence levels! - I might need to throttle back wink)

giggles
Its all so exciting though I remember when I found out with my first child I was the same..... my situation is a little more complicated as I dont live with my partner atm and even though it is what we both want and are over the moon think we have alot to think about and plan over the next few months lol xx

TakingTheStairs Mon 25-Mar-13 10:58:44

I hope your 7 year old will be excited too smile

Shootingstarsandcomets Mon 25-Mar-13 11:06:48

Hello<waves> can't believe I'm here and not even sure if I'm in the right group........DS is 7 months old tomorrow and I though breastfeeding was enough contraception turns out it isn't!! So no idea when in due as haven't had a cycle since giving birth in August but I've been feeling so so tired and emotional and nauseous recently that I took a test yesterday and tada here I am! Going to see the midwife on weds and hoping I can have an early scan to confirm how many weeks I am. Can't believe I will have two babies under two years old - aaaargh!

TakingTheStairs Mon 25-Mar-13 11:28:20

Hello ShootingStars - wow what an exciting rollercoaster time this must be for you. Congratulations. flowers Myself and my brother are only 14 months apart so I'm now beginning to understand what my DM must have gone through. DB must have been 5 months when she fell pregnant with me!

Should we have a bit of a list so when we get more to this thread we all know where we are?

Yes a list is a good idea. It's definitely a roller coaster I keep crying and then being quite happy at the same time. I don't know how I'll cope but I'm sure we will.
Baby comet is napping now so I am back in bed instead of tidying but I'm so so tired. Are you working stairs? I found it so hard hiding it from work and then when I told them all they said they'd known for weeks and it was so obvious apparently- running to the loo constantly and huge boobs were my giveaways!

JellyCurls Mon 25-Mar-13 11:40:33

Just popping on board to give my old conception bus mate takingthestairs a huge HUG. I have been stalking watching the conception boards to see how my old friends are doing.

To all ladies on board I hope the sickness stays away and you all keep nice and healthy.

Lots of love jellycurls x

TakingTheStairs Mon 25-Mar-13 11:42:21

I am working yes, and had to take a day and a half off last week for dizziness. Though I didn't know myself then what it was, so hopefully they won't have guessed. I think I'll tell my top bosses early so that I can take time for scans etc but keep it secret from the others. Everyone except me and one of my bosses are men in my office, so they might not be as quick to guess (hopefully)
Not feeling tired yet but I don't have a 7 month old to take care of!

TakingTheStairs Mon 25-Mar-13 11:43:44

Hi Jelly <waves until arm gets sore> thank you so much for your lovely message. You are so kind xxxxxxx

MildredH Mon 25-Mar-13 11:56:03

Hi all!

Very excited and slightly disbelieving but hopefully due baby number 1 on Dec 4th..

Having to avoid all other human contact today so I don't burst and tell someone!

Congratulations.....bet your sat in that meeting now with no concentration and lots running round your mind hehe x

Welcome to the club xx

TakingTheStairs Mon 25-Mar-13 15:52:57

Hi oroonoko

It's an odd feeling isn't it. I think we're all in a bit of shock.

I had to tell my pilates instructor today ahead of class so that made it a bit more real

Hi Taking and ladies, I've hopped over from the conception thread to join you smile

I'm almost to scared to incase I tempt fate as I just found out on Saturday at 11dpo.....and I haven't told DP yet!!!!!!

my EDD is 3rd December Baby No 2. grin

Hi everyone <tentatively steps onto thread>
Bit worried as got bfp today at 11dpo slaps wrist for poas early but got quite bad cramps and back pain. Little to no spotting though so keeping my fingers crossed. Just did another test and that came up positive too.
Edd 6th dec 2nd baby.
Hey taking and dasie my fellow bus travellers.

Wanna hear something weird? About a week ago ds who's 3 said to me 'baby in your tummy mummy' <freaks out> grin

Dasie Mon 25-Mar-13 18:51:29

Hi Quiet!

Ooh you have a psychic 3 year old grin

Apparently! I'm gonna make my fortune out of him grin

Hello to all the new mummy to be's!

Lovely to see a few of us on here already smile sure we are going to have some giggles along our journeys along with our worries, panics, questions etc etc ha!

Its lovely to meet you all, wondered where abouts we all are? Im oxfordshire x

Hi everyone! BFP yesterday, reckon due about 1st December. Trying not to get too excited though as just had a m/c in January. <waves at fellow passengers on the March bus>

Hopefully the hospital will be able to give me an early scan and put my mind at rest.

Ooh its going to be a long 8 and a bit months! grin

I'm Bristol. Cramps have eased up a it now so relaxing slightly. Though have weird shooting pains up my back! I had no symptoms until morning sickness hit at 6 weeks with ds so all these cramps and things are a bit disconcerting.

aoifen Mon 25-Mar-13 23:23:57

Hi All

I'm due 29/11 but thought I might sneak in here as the November people are much further on than me. Like shooting stars I have a 7 month old. It took 2 years to conceive him so 2 months this time is a wonderful shock. Took the test today, having manfully (?) waited 3 days past my due date. Too many disappointments last time! Bursting to tell people. Last time was at Christmas so everybody had me figured out by 6 weeks due to my abstinence. No symptoms as yet apart from hunger - possibly an excuse methinks! Early days but fingers crossed

MildredH Tue 26-Mar-13 02:04:44

Hi and congrats to all.. Happy to be sharing the journey..

Clare- I've had a prev mc and thought about asking for an early scan & just can't decide... I know my SIL had one just got reassurance purposes. I just wondered if it might make me feel more attached and hence more upset if things didn't work out? On the other hand- the obsessive checking of the loo paper ( I'm 36 hours post BFP) could get tedious! confused

Xx

Shootingstarsandcomets Tue 26-Mar-13 06:56:51

Congratulations everyone! aoifen so glad there is someone was out there with another tiny one I'm really stressed about the fact they will be so close together. This one wasn't planned- oops!
I had a m/c before my first and they gave me an early scan. Was really reassuring so I'd deffo ask for one if they can.
I'm in rural Derbyshire with lots of snow. Going to attempt digging out the car today so I can take ds to swimming.

Morning all smile

This sounds really odd but I think today its kinda sunk in its like I actually really am pregnant! and its so odd as last night my DS was like mummy one day will I have a brother or sister I was thinking haha if only you knew LOL xx

Scares me as me and my partner atm dont live together and just means over this year there will be so much change, all for the better of course but still worries me.

Laptop to work today think its time to read up on advice sure its all changed so much since I have my little man 7 years ago.

Hope you all have a lovely day xxxx

TakingTheStairs Tue 26-Mar-13 09:16:48

Morning all.
Hi Dasie & Clare I love that so many from the March BFP bus are here!
<waves> to Aoife It must be odd with others being almost a month ahead of you. Welcome to the Dec thread!
Dasie have you told your DP yet?? Why the delay? (if you don't mind me asking!)

How is everybody feeling this morning? It's starting to sink in now. DH and I were looking at prams online last night, early I know but it's nice to be able to browse for real! I've an appointment with my doc on Thursday to get the ball rolling. yippee. I'm in London. We seem to be all spread out.

Hello Rosebelle congrats and welcome aboard :D

Just booked appointment with doctors to get the ball rolling, had a terrible 1st pregnancy with my DS, severe sickness from 16 weeks and in and out of hospital..... was fine until then however this one gah morning sickness much haha maybe it means as it gets further on it will be better lol oh the joy of " little legs " as my DP has now decided to call our new creation :D xx

Dasie Tue 26-Mar-13 10:08:21

Hi Clare! The next 8 months are definately gonna feel like forever!

Gosh I'm in North Yorkshire smile

My DD is 13 in a few weeks so this feels almost like the first time as it's been sooooo long!! grin

Dasie Tue 26-Mar-13 10:13:30

Taking like you DP and I aren't living together yet, despite being in a commited long term relationship. Haven't told him yet as I am waiting for the weekend when we are together for a few nights so it feels more special, and it's given the bean a few more days to get sticky smile

Hi Rosebelle & Quiet.. Welcome!

I'm feeling great today. Still on cloud 9.

Am thinking of booking gp appt for next wk to get in the system with mw etc..

Also, avoiding my mum atm as we haven't told anyone and I can't trust myself to keep it in. Think I will have to tell her pretty soon as all I've really talked about for the past year is TTC- god I must've been like a broken record!

Hope everyone well..

Dasie I think I can join you on the melting brain thing, meant to have made my stores order almost three hours still plodding along I have so many other things on my mind hahahahaha!

x Mildred Im sure your mum will be over the moon for you but I agree about the keeping it quiet thing its hard isnt it hehe xx

MildredH Tue 26-Mar-13 11:38:45

It's SO hard! It's just swimming round my head.. Any question I was asked at work yesterday I wanted to answer " I'm up the duff!" grin

I think we will tell both sets of parents next week and then I'll need to keep schtum for the following 8 weeks! Eep. blush

Thanks taking.
Hi Mildred.

I've bought some more preg tests. Thought I'd done tomorrow before docs then one next week and then one the week after just to make sure everything's ticking along. It's taken so long to get pregnant I'm just worried something will go wrong.
Probably tell my mum And dh's parents this weekend as going back home for Easter. Will also have to tell a friend as we run a toddler group together which if morning sickness is as bad as last time I won't be able to manage.
Still finding it hard to believe.

13loki Tue 26-Mar-13 13:13:55

whispers hi! I think I'm due around December 5. I have 2 already, DS who s 7 and DD 2. Not totally sure on the dates, we had a miscarriage in February and no period in between, so I'm trying to work out dates from when the tests changed from BFN to BFP.

Last time we told our parents before the pee was dry on the sick. They were planning to visit in summer (we live in Sweden, they are all in Oz) and we wanted to give them the option of visiting when we had a new baby instead. This time we'll wait before telling anyone.

Congrats 13loki! I think we'll wait to tell anyone else but if I get morning sickness the same as before I won't be able to hide it for long.

Rosebelle Tue 26-Mar-13 14:07:56

Congratulations 13loki! like you, another mum of 2 here! Can't imagine how it will be having 3 but "they" say it's harder going from 1-2 than 2-3, hope that's true!

13loki Tue 26-Mar-13 14:09:26

Thanks Quiet
I had to tell at 7 weeks with DD, I vomited in someone else's classroom in the morning, mid conversation. <slightly embarrassing> I'm hoping MS won't be as bad this time, but it would be a little reassuring.

I should call the midwife, which is a whole other level of fun in a language you don't speak. It was just a huge hassle firstly to get an appointment and then to cancel it last time.

SpanishLady Tue 26-Mar-13 15:26:46

Dasie Wed 27-Mar-13 09:57:33

Thanks Taking smile

Yep I'd say do another test. So far since saturday morning i've done 9 tests!!!! Just to make sure and then doubly sure and then triply sure etc etc, don't think it will actually sink in til I tell DP at the weekend!!!!!

Have only told you ladies so far, no-one in RL knows!! grin

I did cb digital this morning. It was 'thinking' about it for ages then came up 1-2 weeks pregnant. Had the docs and he's given me the info about booking in with midwife. Eeek getting a bit excited now. I'm still not due on till tomoro!
Gonna tel my mum Friday when we go for a visit. Told her I was pregnant with ds on Good Friday 4 years ago so will tell her again this Good Friday

I'm at the drs waiting to see midwife eeek! Feel a bit embarrassed sitting here with a pram already am sure people will think I am mad or know that this was an accident. Poor baby 2 don't want him/her to feel like an accident sad

TakingTheStairs Wed 27-Mar-13 11:49:07

Good luck shooting and NOBODY is looking at you thinking that. Don't worry. and don't be sheepish about being pregnant. people will take their cue from. If you act like it was on purpose, then they'll believe that.((hugs))

I just went out and bought four (I know) CB digital tests. I'd only tested once on Monday and got "positive 1-2 weeks", so to ease my mind I thought I'd better do another.
Just got "positive 2-3 weeks". Holy moly is it normal for it to increase so much in two days?

TakingTheStairs Wed 27-Mar-13 11:49:41

*people will take their cue from you (I meant to say)

13loki Wed 27-Mar-13 12:00:13

stairs if you were about 2 weeks post conception it is perfect to change from 1-2 to 2-3. I am thinking about buying some of those test today, I have been obsessively POAS and watching the lines go darker.

Shooting you're not quite as quick off the mark as a friend of mine who was pregnant with her second when her first was 3 months old! So just over a year when the baby was born. It was their first go after her birth to "check everything worked" which it did wink

Taking I've got another 2 cb which I am gonna take next week and week after to check all is working ok. Then I will try to chill a bit. or the morning sickness will kick in which was a good indicator last time that all was well with baby

kyz1981 Wed 27-Mar-13 12:11:49

Shooting - I have 15 months between my two and it was easier then most people told me it would be, they both now play with the same toys and like the same things and its lovely. My DD1 came to all DS2 appointments including scans and things and loved it- she was only just walking when DS was born.

TakingTheStairs Wed 27-Mar-13 13:18:47

20% off CB digital in boots at the moment for those that are interested smile

Shootingstarsandcomets Wed 27-Mar-13 13:48:50

Thanks ladies smile. Midwife has requested a scan for me so we can see what's what, still might take two weeks to come through though. Think I might do a cb test too to see what it says!
How's everyone doing symptom wise? I was feeling really nauseous last week but not so bad now but my boobs are expanding and am already out of my normal size bras. Annoying actually as I had just bought a whole load of pretty new undies now that I'm not breastfeeding - what a waste of money!! Other than that and tiredness I'm feeling too bad this time.

Shootingstarsandcomets Wed 27-Mar-13 13:49:45

I'm NOT feeling too bad - sorry!

MildredH Wed 27-Mar-13 15:22:06

Glad you're feeling ok shootingstars..

I also feel like my breasticles are rapidly expanding even at this early stage! Struggled to get into my sports bra at the gym this morning.

TakingTheStairs Wed 27-Mar-13 15:54:19

My chest is expanding too! I was a D before I got pregnant, they're going to be massive sad

kyz1981 Wed 27-Mar-13 16:03:34

No real symptoms yet just wind (tmi) and waking up early, (had this with both of my Pg) and needing the loo a little more,.

I'm spotting a little bit again and got very mild period type pain. Is this normal? I shitting myself.

Still feel completely knackered and I'm definitely moody. Like my fuse is >-< big.

TakingTheStairs Wed 27-Mar-13 16:39:07

Oh totally knackered too. waking up early past two days and SO hungry today & yesterday. I guess my body has gone "boom - you're pregnant - lets go!"

Ninja I've been having mild period type pains too, & the spotting is VERY normal for implantation. Have you any more tests to reassure yourself?
xx

Only the clearblue ones which I wanted to save so I can see the numbers going up. Maybe ill do another in the morning. I thought sun and mon would have been implantation? Can it go away then comeback agin?

Oh god yes I am hungry too! Aargh. Just kinda wish I was further on and knew everything was ok.

kyz1981 Wed 27-Mar-13 17:12:27

I had period pains with both my PG and some really sharp cervical shooting type pains with my 1st PG - less with my second, especially around 5-7 weeks- worried me sick but very normal- also had bad back ache with DS.

I am hungry but then not when I see the food, I am awaiting the horrible faintness/dizzyness that I had with both my other Pgs as that came on much earlier than the nausea for me.

TakingTheStairs Wed 27-Mar-13 17:21:32

you can still get spotting after it I think Ninja I'd do another to reassure yourself.

Thanks kyz and taking. Will keep my fingers crossed and possibly do test in morning.

MildredH Wed 27-Mar-13 19:25:03

Aah the moods. I knew there must be an explanation. I'm grumpy as he'll today. The euphoria has worn off and given way to irritability in the extreme! Poor DH is hiding.

Work are really messing me about. I'm a doctor & there are certain patients I can't see when pregnant. They are trying to make me work horrible shifts over Easter weekend in replacement for night shifts I should be doing now hmm.

Bad day.

Tell them to bog off I know its not that easy hope you don't have to many horrible shifts over the weekend Mildred.

MildredH Wed 27-Mar-13 20:11:46

Thanks Quiet- have been v tempted. Started several 'bog off' emails today but thought better of it and not pressed send!

Just so short staffed where I work currently and no slack in the system to cover on calls. Moving to a rotation at a new hosp next week so hopefully a bit better.

On the upside it's payday tomo. I feel a celebratory treat coming on grin

Shootingstarsandcomets Thu 28-Mar-13 19:49:32

Ooh exciting taking!! Hope my letter comes through soon.

TakingTheStairs Fri 29-Mar-13 04:14:39

Thanks guys. Off to see a few consultants over the next couple of weeks to decide who is the right fit for me and then it's go-go-go! Hoorah!

Congratulations rylea Welcome to the December thread.

Shootingstarsandcomets Fri 29-Mar-13 07:55:36

I'm hoping I won't need a consultant this time although mine was a super star. I'm hoping for a smoother ride this time as pregnancy with ds was full of complications. Ended with him being born a month early by elcs want to try for a vbac this time as I hated the recovery time from the c section. Took a week for my milk to come in, couldn't pick up ds for ages, couldn't get into or out of bed at home without severe pain and that was with a top top consultant doing the op in a private hospital! Can't face that and a toddler this time so really hoping they allow a normal birth.

Popscene21 Fri 29-Mar-13 17:06:16

Hi everyone, lovely to virtually meet you all waves

This is my first step into the pregnancy unknown - BFP this morning, estimate a 1st Dec due date. Petrified and thrilled all in one go, so I'm looking forward to hearing how you're all getting on. Based SW London x

Weaselicious Fri 29-Mar-13 19:09:52

Hi everyone - found out on Sunday and due 4 Dec (ish). First pregnancy ever(!) am 38, v happy but a bit overwhelmed and over sensitive to every twinge. Lovely to meet you all smile

MamaBlue4 Fri 29-Mar-13 19:35:15

Guesstimated at 4 weeks, baby due around 3rd December. #excited

MamaBlue4 Fri 29-Mar-13 19:38:31

This will be baby #5 but the excitement doesn't get any less.

Welcome to all the new arrivals!
Got midwife appointment on Thursday, hoping to get referred for early scan. This time I've got loads more symptoms than last time, really tired and very sore boobs, hope that's a good sign!

Gooseysgirl Sat 30-Mar-13 06:34:31

Hello all, got my BFP on Thurs morning and DH and I are still getting our heads around it! We have one gorgeous DD already who is 13 months smile This baby is planned but seriously didn't expect to conceive so fast as I'm 37, we got pregnant on second attempt last time - really didn't think we'd be so lucky again. My due date is 3rd Dec. Actually did a test last weekend which was BFN, to make sure I wasn't pregnant so I could have a few drinks at a party... whoops!! Am soooo excited, but equally dreading the next few weeks until the magic 12 weeks... Huuuuge congrats to everyone on this thread so far and here's hoping we'll all have healthy happy pregnancies.

kyz1981 Sat 30-Mar-13 08:41:13

Congrats to all the new mummy's to be- Told my DH yesterday- now it seems so much more real. I am now hoping that I don't get to sick or show to soon as I don't want to tell family/friends/the kids until I know all is well.

I may go for a private early scan to confirm all is well as I as so big with my son I doubt I will be able to hide it until weeks.

13loki Sat 30-Mar-13 09:17:50

Hi all newbies.

clare8allthepies Definitely a good sign. I hope. It's what I'm telling myself. Sore boobs and nausea, and darker lines on the squillions of tests I've done in the past week. It has to be a good sign.

I guess I should try to book in with the midwife.

Hey everyone. I've told my mum and she is well chuffed. We've also told dh's parents and sisters who are also pleased. Hoping all goes well as still early but poas yesterday and it came up as a dark line again. No cramping or bleeding so fingers crossed.

featherbag Sat 30-Mar-13 09:58:29

Hi, can I join?! Got BFP this morning, due 7th December after 1 cycle TTC. Didn't think it would happen so fast, I'm stunned, can't even bring myself to tell DH who's sitting opposite with DS (18 months).

LadyMedea Sat 30-Mar-13 10:57:49

Hello everybody. I'm 4+3 so should be due around the 5th of December me thinks. Our first baby and our first month trying!

Off to see the doc on Tuesday - cunningly had an appointment already booked.

Excited but cautiously at this early stage. Congrats everybody grin

MildredH Sat 30-Mar-13 11:12:13

Hi Feather & Lady, Congrats!

All well here although disappointed at how SLOWLY time is passing! Feels like we've known for weeks and weeks but its been 6 days!

Told my parents yesterday. My mum very diplomatically told me that she just KNEW as when we were away for the weekend a few weeks ago I was looking a little 'tubby'. Yes, a few weeks ago probably before conception had even taken place. Wonderful! That said, she's very excited.

Telling the outlaws today as DH feels its only fair for them also to know. Operation great British bake off about to commence in our kitchen in preparation for visitors..

Happy Easter all..

Weaselicious Sat 30-Mar-13 14:16:50

Time definitely dragging! We're doing a big clear out today which is definitely helping to keep my mind occupied smile x

TakingTheStairs Sat 30-Mar-13 16:35:11

Hello all,

Glad to hear your mum was delighted ninja, it's so exciting
DH and I are away for our wedding anniversary this weekend but will be seeing my family tmr. Oddly not tempted to tell yet. Very happy being in our own little bubble until as close to 12 weeks as we can. I don't think DM could hold the secret in (out of excitement)
Bought a baby name book today smile

Congratulations to all the new BFPs, and mama it's brill to know that the excitement doesn't abate smile

DonnaMoss Sat 30-Mar-13 19:02:13

Hello all you lovely pregnant people, can I join please?

Got our BFP on Tuesday, 5 weeks today, due approx 1st Dec. We havent told anyone not even our dd who is 3.8 (she cant keep a secret haha)

Congrats to us all! Xx

Shootingstarsandcomets Sat 30-Mar-13 20:47:46

Oooh lots more bfp's out there, congrats!! I got my scan letter through today for a week on Tuesday- eek! Finally I'll know my edd. DH can't come with me though so am a bit sad to be going on my own but never mind. Really hoping I'm only just pregnant and not too far along. I am definitely fatter already though! I was enormous with my first so will be even worse this time although will probably not go so crazy with the biscuits this time!

Hi donnamoss. Went out for a family meal tonight. Had to hide the fact I wasn't drinking. Wasn't very successful but think I covered myself by saying I would be up early with ds. Eek.

Hi everyone, are we all having a lovely easter?
Wish I'd bought myself an egg now, don't usually bother but seeing as I can't have any wine <grumps> grin

Lovely Easter but I'm craving choc too Clare. Wish I could nick some of ds egg but I think he'd notice. Pants.

MildredH Mon 01-Apr-13 11:40:02

Spotting this morning sad

Praying its ok but pretty worried it might not be.

Shootingstarsandcomets Mon 01-Apr-13 12:41:59

Fingers crossed its nothing mildred, have you got an EPU you could ring?
I'm craving chocolate too. Not even had a creme egg this year. Having just lost 3 stone of baby weight from having ds I don't want to start piling on the pounds straight away but chocolate mmmmmmmmmm

Dasie Mon 01-Apr-13 13:22:55

Happy Easter everyone grin

Some spotting can be quite normal Mildred but I understand how it makes you worry!! Fingers crossed it stops asap!

I have been having quite a bit of nausea which is quite new to me, never had it with previous pregnancies (1 mc, 1DD). Hoping it stops me eating every easter egg in the place smile

Hope everyone is doing ok xx

13loki Mon 01-Apr-13 14:09:29

Hope it's all OK mildred

ouch, ouch ouch boobs. Which is painful and annoying, but very welcome after having very few symptoms last time, which didn't end well. Also very nearly threw up at lunch.

Just realised that I have no plans for DS and DD when I have this baby. Which is a long way off, but I've decided to panic early! I know a few people who would look after them, but they live about 40 minutes away. Given that DD arrived about 35 minutes after I woke up, that may be too far. My parents came to look after DS when I was in labour, but they live in Australia and I live in Sweden, and they are visiting in July/August, so they won't be able to visit so soon again. I really don't want in-laws, they stress me out too much, especially if they are staying with us for weeks on end waiting for a baby.

Arrrgh. Maybe our new neighbours will be lovely and will look after them.

MildredH Mon 01-Apr-13 14:35:44

Thank you girls. Sadly I don't have a very good feeling about this.

I think EPU would be closed until tomorrow but in all honesty if it turns out to be a chemical pregnancy then I will retest in a week or so.

Trying to distract myself but its hard to think about anything else sad

kyz1981 Mon 01-Apr-13 15:15:32

Fingers crossed Mildred That all is well-

Not feeling to bad- just moody as hell and tired.

Hope everyone has had a lovely easter

Weaselicious Mon 01-Apr-13 16:28:02

weechops Mon 01-Apr-13 17:24:38

Hi everyone < peeps nervously in>. I tested today at 10dpo and got a faint bfp! smile I'm testing again tomorrow to make sure but I'm so so nervous and excited.

This will be baby # 3 after 10 cycles of trying and a mc in January. Due December 13th.

Really chuffed to see my old thread buddy taking here smile < waves madly>

TakingTheStairs Mon 01-Apr-13 19:01:30

Congratulations flowers

And Mildred, sending lots of positive sticky bean thoughts your way xx

Fingers crossed all is well Mildred.

Weeeeeeeeeechops! Congrats. Exciting to see so many people from previous threads here.

Well I tested with my next clearblue and its come up as 3 weeks plus. Which is great cos lots of hcg but I'm only 2 weeks and 3 days! confused unless I ovulated earlier than I thought but I got my positive opk so I thought I had a handle on when I ovulated. At least its gone up from 1-2 weeks which is what I had last week grin

2Labradors Mon 01-Apr-13 20:21:16

Hello can I join please.

Got my BFP on Tuesday evening and again on Weds morning. Had a nose bleed the day before which I only really get in pregnancy, and said to colleagues that I was feeling 'strange'.

We have a DD and DS already, so this will be #3 for us. Due on 2nd Dec I think. My period in February was quite light so will mention to midwife when I get an appointment.

I'm really excited but so anxious about this pregnancy, sure I wasn't like this previously. I've had period type pains and stretching feeling all week, it's not hugely painful just uncomfortable but I can feel something going on all the time. I wonder if this is because its baby number 3? I remember my uterus pains after having my 2nd baby which were considerably stronger than 1st time, every time I breast fed at first. I'm hoping this is a similar sort of situation. My tummy feels like I've been doing lots of sit ups. My boobs are mega painful too and I have waves of nausea.

Congratulations to you all.

Mildred I really hope all goes well.

Hi all, well I'm off to see the GP this evening to get my referral moving for hospital. Went to a hospital out of my catchment area with DD and really keen to go back there again as it was fab, but with things changing all the time in the NHS who knows...

13loki Tue 02-Apr-13 10:09:52

Just struggled through the most awkward phonecall trying to make an appointment for the midwife. They don't do interpreters here if you speak english, so I struggled through with my ridiculously bad swedish. My appointment is May 3rd. I'll be about 9 1/2 weeks then. Congrats on the BFPs.

Honestly, who chooses to have a baby in a foreign country?

Oh god taking yes there is! I'm a twin. My aunt had a twin and my nan had twin sisters. <buries head in the sand>
I just got my first midwife appointment too. 30th April. Ill be almost 9 weeks and that's agggggggeeeeeess away!

13loki Tue 02-Apr-13 10:33:46

Quiet Yours is an age before mine. And you are due after me*

Stamps foot. Bet I wouldn't have to wait so long if I spoke the language. Actually, I know I wouldn't, but waiting is better since I will get a midwife who speaks english.

*Not actually sure, very fuzzy on dates, which is frustrating as I was absolutely certain with DD and DS.

I know Loki a whole 3 days is an age! This is gonna be slow until my first appointment.

TakingTheStairs Tue 02-Apr-13 11:17:12

oh loki that must be very frustrating, and exhausting!

eeeeeeekkkk Ninja, how exciting!! I'm quite jealous, I'd love to have twins. envy My GP said that there's no point getting early scans until you're about 6/7 weeks, but maybe you could go for a private scan around then to know whether you have two in there rather than waiting for your 12 week scan?

Discogeek Tue 02-Apr-13 11:17:30

Got BFP on Saturday after TTC for 4ish months - very happy but feel like crap hmm Poor DP is hiding as I've been awful this morning!
This is my 2nd, DS is 5 and I'm due 4th December.
Looking forward to this journey with you allgrin

13loki Tue 02-Apr-13 11:29:25

OK, so now I'm not sure if I made an appointment with the midwife or the dentist. I could cry. I rang the dentist this morning because I forgot when DS has an appointment, but had to leave a message. Now I'm scared they rang back and not the midwife, because a midwife rang me after I had made my appointment.

I can't even try to work out what to say if I ring to check. Maybe I'll pop into the dentist next time I'm passing to check in person. I am an idiot.

Maybe taking, hadn't thought about it really.
Hi discogeek. Welcome. <hands over choc>

Hello all!

Very excited to find a December 2013 group already. I have never ever posted on an online chat room thingy before so please bare with me!

Had my BFP on Thursday (clearblue estimating 1-2 weeks) have been struggling to work out my EDD is as I haven't had a period since falling pregnant with my son in Feb 2011 but adding two weeks to the 1-2 estimated conception date Im thinking first-second week in December.

I have been really unwell recently and spent most of February in hospital so we only started TTC a few weeks ago and without much hope due to illness and total lack of periods. How shocked was I on Thursday?! dont even know what made me take a test.

Anyway have dr appointment on Fri and hoping for an early scan to give us a better idea of dates.

My son was due the 9th Dec 2011 and born on the 18th and I'm estimating this one will be virtually the same! Another crazy Christmas baby.

Very excited but totally different second time round as have so much else to keep busy I keep forgetting about 'blob'.

Have a lot of anxiety about miscarrying at the moment :-(.

Anyway look forward to getting to know you all.

I'm now convinced that I made a dentist appointment. OMG I suck so much. I did tell the woman who rang that I wanted an appointment with a midwife, I think I'm 5 weeks pregnant and I'm not sure on dates because I just had a mc, so she'll think I was over sharing if it was the dentist! I need to learn this language quickly.

TakingTheStairs Tue 02-Apr-13 15:14:10

Bloods done, booking appointment made for week 9. Hang in there little bean.

How's everyone else doing?

Shootingstarsandcomets Tue 02-Apr-13 19:24:24

Definitely more tiring second time around discogeek, I think your brain blanks out how bad this bit is so that you do it again! A bit like birth!!! I've had three naps today and am still shattered.
How are you doing today mildred?
Hello to all the new bfp's!!
One week today and I will have had my scan and will know my edd. Hope I don't have to go into the November group.

EnvioChick Tue 02-Apr-13 19:34:14

Hi all,

Sorry I made a typo earlier, I should be Envirochick not check!
Not that it matters!

Have had a lot of abdominal pain today, anyone else experiencing this? Im sure it's normal but just worries me.

Im very tired this evening too

MildredH Tue 02-Apr-13 20:09:46

Hi all,

An update- spotting pretty much stopped by yesterday evening. Saw GP today who was lovely and said although too early for scan that he'd do serial blood tests to make sure my HCG is going up.

My boobs were so very tender last wk and that's reduced a lot so still a bit worried but at least there's a plan now..

Shootingstars- good luck with your scan, November-schmovember I think you should stay with us anyway!

Xx

aoifen Tue 02-Apr-13 20:14:19

Hi All

I somehow dropped off the list last week! EDD 29/12 baby%232. Just had a lovely Easter with my family - DH and my mum fussing over DS so a major break for me. Not sure if it's Monday blues/ preg hormones but have totally crashed today. DS has a cold so little sleep last night. Nausea and fatigue, a lovely combination. He had his first day at crèche - I am studying and have an exam in 6 weeks. Oh and my boss is avoiding me and any discussion about my return to work.Wait until I tell them I'm preggo!
Sorry for the moan ladies. I hope you are well. My fingers and ties at crossed for Mildred...

aoifen Tue 02-Apr-13 20:15:41

Baby%232 obviously! Sorry - on my phone, hence why I can't add to the listsmile

SorryMyLollipop Tue 02-Apr-13 20:54:09

I am terrified, got Drs appt for next Monday.

Weaselicious Tue 02-Apr-13 21:06:51

Hi enviochick yes I've had abdom pain today too and it's making me feel really crappy. No bleeding so I guess all's ok but am finding this v stressful. First pregnancy so really feel in the dark sad. Hope you're doing ok sending a hug x

LadyMedea Tue 02-Apr-13 21:58:53

I've got aching too.. If we've all got it it must be normal.

Doc did pull a worried face when I said it was one sided... But at the moment I think it might just be wind! grin

I'm 32 and in Berkshire by the way.

Discogeek Tue 02-Apr-13 22:58:35

I'm so glad we're all having similar symptoms, defo helps to feel I'm not alone. And yes Shooting - naps are the only thing keeping me going till bedtime! Ive got a day at the zoo with my in laws tomorrow, not sure how I'm gonna get through that without a nap!
Oh and I'm 30 & from Yorkshire smile

weechops Wed 03-Apr-13 07:43:11

I forgot how bad the tiredness is at the beginning! Yesterday I was ready for bed before the kids smile drinking plenty of water helps a bit though.

Weaselicious Wed 03-Apr-13 07:57:27

Hope everyone's ok this morning. Spent last night having stomach cramps and then dark red bleeding in enough quantities to worry me - quick 4am visit to local cottage hosp, hopefully drs appt today and have scan at 9 on Tuesday but not holding out much hope. Didn't think I could get pregnant easily so feels quite cruel to have the rug pulled like this. Some small chance of sticky bean I guess.

Weaselicious Wed 03-Apr-13 08:47:08

Going to bow out. I wish you all every good thing for your pregnancies and no doubt beautiful babies. Another time for me I guess xxx

Thanks Quiet. Trying to pluck up courage to go for test.

Mildred, just do it. Fingers crossed all will be well but if you don't do it you'll just keep worrying. If you're not bleeding then hopefully all is well. Xx

Weasel so so sorry. I know how awful you must feel just now. I hope you have plenty of support round you. Take care xx

Shootingstarsandcomets Wed 03-Apr-13 11:29:22

So sorry weasel this whole pregnancy thing is so cruel sometimes, sending a big hug your way.

SorryMyLollipop Wed 03-Apr-13 11:29:34

Thanks peeps! I TTC with my STBXH for 10 yrs, unexplained infertility. We separated last year and this "bean" is an accident with my new partner blush

Sorry weasel, hope you are ok x

aoifen Wed 03-Apr-13 11:38:42

So sorry Weasel x

Vocalista86 Wed 03-Apr-13 11:42:18

Weasel, I'm so sorry this has happened. Get lots of rest and look after yourself x

Vocalista86 Wed 03-Apr-13 11:48:32

Sorry what will be will be wink!

I got the most surprising letter yesterday, 2 scan appointments. The first reassurance scan 2 weeks today meaning I can cancel my private scan - and the second at 12 weeks. I was so over the moon that this hospital (different to the one I was at last time around and not good so asked to be refered to a different one) cares about the last MC and knows how ladies feel in their first 12 weeks! Brilliant.

I think the first scan will also be my booking in appointment, which is brilliant at 7w 4 d, last hospital I wasn't booked in until 10 weeks.

kyz1981 Wed 03-Apr-13 11:56:04

So so sorry Weasel - your in my thoughts- Take care x

13loki Wed 03-Apr-13 14:32:18

Weasel So sorry. I wish I could give you a hug and tell you everything will be OK. I was there 7 weeks ago, and it is awful.

Vocalista86 Wed 03-Apr-13 14:55:02

Wow, we're getting people due in the middle of the monthnow! Won't be long before the Christmas EDD start to appear. But, time seem to be passing so slowly in these early weeks.... sad

Dasie Wed 03-Apr-13 16:13:29

Weasel really sorry, wish I could wave a magic wand and make things right for you.

I'm in the middle of working 4 night shifts so I feel completely knackered but am quite used to it smile

Finally made my GP appointment for friday, I'll have known I was pregnant for almost 2 weeks then but I'm really trying to space things out a bit as time is DRAGGING grin

Have you told your dp yet dasie?

I'm knackered.i am not sleeping well and I feel knackered anyway. I'm also a bit grumpy according to dh
Other than that I feel ok so far.

Dasie Wed 03-Apr-13 16:39:48

Quiet yes told him on friday, POAS and wrapped it up. It was our anniversary so told him it was an extra gift, he opened it and just stared at it for ages, took a while for the penny to drop despite the word pregnant in front of him on a test. We only decided to give things a tentative go with TTC at the beginning of feb so he's having to adapt quickly. He's is now over the moon after the initial shock smile

Jamina Wed 03-Apr-13 16:45:52

Hi ladies

Congrats to you all! I'm due 1st December and will also be in the 2 under 2 club. DD 1 on Saturday! Looking forward to chatting our way through the first trimester.

Xxxx

Aoifebelle Wed 03-Apr-13 17:00:58

Hello I am a mums net virgin, but obviously not one in the traditional sense.

Based in hackney

I am due on Dec 02nd, first baby, after a miscarriage last year at about 10 weeks. Weird mixture of excitement and anxiety right now. I feel a bit resentful that I am constantly having to reign in the excitement in case the worst happens, so I have decided to go full on for the joy and deal with the crash if it comes.

Other than that, I am yelping every time I go over a speed bump on my bike, - my tits are that sore and I am constantly hungry. No sign on morning sickness - long may that last.

Docs appt next week.

OrbisNonSufficit Wed 03-Apr-13 18:54:26

Hello!! Another mid-dec edd here, I think dec-14... According to the clear blue digital this morning I am up duff anyway, doctor now to be booked as a part of me can't believe it... This is #1.

At this point I'm just trying very hard not to tell anyone! Other than dh who has decided he has 'super sperm' hmm as we dtd about 4 days before I think I ovulated...

Weasel so sorry, hugs.

What a fab way to tell him dasie!
Hi jamina, aoifebelle and orbis. Super sperm my arse! grin

FluffyDucky Wed 03-Apr-13 19:32:11

Hi ladies, hope I am not too late to join the party? Feeling pretty overwhelmed ATM (and that's just at all the abbreviations..)
Found out on Saturday we're having our first baby, due 10th Dec. We have been trying since Sept last year when we got married, totally over the moon and want to shout it from the roof tops lol
Currently 4 weeks gone, just feeling a little tired and nauseous every so often, got a maternity bra fitted today, boobs slightly tender. Now the fun begins smile

Maternity bra?! My boobs are exactly the same small size still. Though if I remember correctly I was very impressed with them towards the end of my pregnancy with ds.

Oh and congrats and hi.

FluffyDucky Wed 03-Apr-13 20:13:24

Lol, thanks. Well I'm a D-DD atm and aware of some tenderness, I want to try and help with the droopiness as much as I can lol!
Plus I'm easily excited and pleased...

Shootingstarsandcomets Wed 03-Apr-13 20:15:10

Why do men always think they have super sperm?! I once bemoaned the fact all our friends were having girls and there were no boy babies he piped up with 'don't worry, ours will be a boy, I'm potent!' I mean seriously who says that, I wasn't even pregnant at that point. He was right though we did have a boy! Am secretly hoping for another boy although I know that's naughty especially at this early stage. Will be grateful just to get through the first trimester. Hello to all the new bfp's smile

OrbisNonSufficit Wed 03-Apr-13 22:15:32

grin shootingstars dh is also convinced he's made a boy. I don't mind what it is, I just want to get safely through the next month or two so I can tell people!

Everyone who isn't on their first, I need advice- is a superhuman sense of smell and dizziness something that happens this early? I'm sure I'm imagining things - AF was due today/ tomorrow ish...

Gooseysgirl Wed 03-Apr-13 22:37:34

Yes Orbis I definitely had the superhuman sense of smell first time round. Didn't have much dizziness last time (except the day I fainted on the tube and caused delays on the central line.. whoops!!) but having more dizziness this time, tiny bit of nausea so far.

SorryMyLollipop Wed 03-Apr-13 22:38:58

I also have dizziness and a very enhanced sense of smell, I could smell my dog weeing from 100yds away - yuck.

Also very sore boobs, sickness/nausea and a mild period pain feeling.

HTH smile

TryDrawing Thu 04-Apr-13 00:29:48

grin at shooting 's dh. My dh is also very pleased with himself, having "got a bullseye on the first attempt" twice now.

I will just be very very relieved to make it through the anomaly scan. Not in a great frame of mind right now as there is a strong possibility of heart problems in our family. Dd is fine, which is reassuring but I find it hard not to worry. Obviously the (crazy pregnant lady) hormones are not helping!

Glad you guys have mentioned dizziness, I've had a bit the last few days but didn't think to put it down to pregnancy. Just waiting for my super sense of smell to kick back in. Last time I had to go hide in a cupboard whenever anyone in my office had coffee - smelled horrendous!

OrbisNonSufficit Thu 04-Apr-13 07:12:44

TryDrawing I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, that's an awful thing to have to worry about. I'm just panicking about what I'm supposed to not eat and wondering if anyone on the tube has cytomegalovirus and that's bad enough.

Has anyone else noticed they can't sleep after a big meal? I'm sure that my digestive system has stopped working properly...

Aoifebelle Thu 04-Apr-13 08:22:54

Yep, my dh is very pleased with his spunk. I have to say I am too. At 38 I had assumed it would take a bit longer, but in his words he is a one shot wonder. Quite chuffed with my ovaries as well, they seem to have come through years of abuse and neglect pretty well. Can I be added to the list please. I am not telling very many people this time, so it will make it feel a bit more official. Excitement creeping up!

Aoifebelle Thu 04-Apr-13 08:26:36

Hi drawing, I am also being tested for an inherited heart condition. Didn't matter that much to me until I started on the road to procreation. It certainly changes things. Hope all goes well xx

Aoifebelle Thu 04-Apr-13 08:27:23

Hi drawing, I am also being tested for an inherited heart condition. Didn't matter that much to me until I started on the road to procreation. It certainly changes things. Hope all goes well xx

Gooseysgirl Thu 04-Apr-13 08:45:29

Aoifebelle are you attending Homerton? I've been referred there this time... An also East London

Shootingstarsandcomets Thu 04-Apr-13 08:59:54

drawing and aoife hope your worries turn out to be nothing.
Yes to the sense of smell going crazy too. I can smell everything and everyone! Horrid really, some people really need to wash more.
My boobs have gone from a dd to an e already sad. I ended up an ff last time and everyone thought it must be fabulous but I hated it, I'm only a shortass and quite petite so once if lost my baby weight I just looked stupid with these enormous boobs full of milk. They never went down after my milk first came in until I stopped feeding ds. I treated myself I lots of new undies a few weeks ago to celebrate return to normal size and now they are too small again and out come the yukky maternity bras. Hey ho small price to pay for the end prize I guess.

Gooseysgirl Thu 04-Apr-13 09:20:14

Haha Shooting... I also celebrated losing baby weight with three new bras a few weeks ago grin They're already tight... What was I thinking!!!

TakingTheStairs Thu 04-Apr-13 09:49:34

Morning everyone. I just spat water over my keyboard at all the DHs thinking they have supersperm! bahahah.

Congratulations FluffyDucky, OrbisNonSufficit, Jamina and Aoifebelle (Saturdays fan?)

TryDrawing I've had dizzy spells since the day of conception. They're starting to ease off now, only two or three a day hmm and a ridiculous sense of smell. I walked into the office last week and asked who was eating cheese & onion crisps. It turned out someone had just walked through reception with an open bag of them a few minutes earlier and my colleague was wondering if I had developed super powers while out for lunch! So I've decided to keep my spidey sense nasal super powers to myself in case anyone guesses that I'm pregnant.

AND I had to go and buy two new bras yesterday. 5 weeks and I've already gone up a cup size to DD, and like you Shooting I'm not the tallest person in the world so am not impressed with the growth already.

Fingers crossed everything will be okay TryDrawing and Aoifebelle that must be very stressful for you both.
Orbis... now I have to worry about cytomegalovirus on to tube too! Thanks wink

LadyMedea Thu 04-Apr-13 10:15:40

I'm waiting for my maternity comfy sleep bras to turn up today hopefully. Boobs feel like water filled balloons. Regular bras are still ok during the days so far but these 36f ladies need some help at night and round the house. Ordered these as they looked like they had more fabric than the others http://www.fromheretomaternity.co.uk/product/86/116/white-maternity-bra-by-carriwell

Terrified at how big these girls are going to end up!

TakingTheStairs Thu 04-Apr-13 10:29:16

Sleep bras? Oh god, I'm going to need them too soon aren't I.
36F? Wow Lady you must have super strong back muscles.

Gooseysgirl Thu 04-Apr-13 11:52:20

I have the opposite problem... I have tiny 34Bs and loved getting bigger boobs last time, much to my disgust they shrank right back down again afterwards

weechops Thu 04-Apr-13 11:57:29

Ooh i forgot about the huge boobs! Im a 34E usually so ill be spending a fortune again on bras. Ah well smile was hoping my bikinis from last year might be ok for holiday but I'm thinking probably not. Do you think underwire ones would be ok for 2 weeks? I need the support cause the puppies are heading south after 2 children!

MildredH Thu 04-Apr-13 11:59:44

I've heard this no-underwire business. What is the rationale behind it does anyone know? I assumed it would just be a comfort thing?

Shootingstarsandcomets Thu 04-Apr-13 12:11:25

Something to do with blocking milk ducts I think mildred and damage to growing breast tissue. Think we are ok for a bit though. The maternity ones are definitely comfier though but not flattering. I've bought ds a pop up ball pit and popped it up and now can't fold it back down- aaaargh!

EnvioChick Thu 04-Apr-13 12:16:39

Having only stopped breastfeeding 8 weeks ago, my boobs have only just settled down and I also went out a few weeks ago and bought some nice new 'normal' bras to celebrate no longer wearing pregnancy or nursing bras! Now in a few weeks Ill be back in the horrible things! Having said that, haven't noticed any growth so far so maybe Ill be ok for a while.

I think the no underwire thing is to do with the developing milk ducts and protecting them from the wire pressing on them too much.

Sense of smell is crazy at the moment. When I was pregnant with my son it wasn't too bad but I couldn't stand the smell of meat cooking. I have a cold at the moment but can still smell everything so strongly.

Had a small amount of bleeding yesterday and still have on and off pain so keeping my fingers crossed that blob is sticking ok. Dr appointment tomorrow. please please let me have an early scan to get a date and to make me feel happier.

MildredH Thu 04-Apr-13 12:27:36

Haha that's great shootingstars.. Those flipping pop-up contraptions never want to 'pop down' again!

Reminds me of a tent DH and I bought for a trip with friends a few years ago ( we are NOT campers!). Popped up no problem but no buggaring way was it going back down. Had to abandon it by the bins in the end. That's our last ( and possibly final) camping experience!

Envio- hope you have success with the Dr. If you think you're 6 wks + they should agree.. I saw my gp after some spotting and he's doing serial bloods to make sure my HCG is doubling. This should also give you reassurance but obviously not a date..

Aoifebelle Thu 04-Apr-13 13:20:20

Oh my lord the boobies. Am I supposed to abandon the underwire? I am pretty well endowed at the best of times (32FF), but I think they have officially gone off the chart. Caught myself in the mirror at pilates yesterday. Not good, I had the worse case of double tittage I think I have ever seen (on top of some pretty audible farting - not smelly thank god) . This pregnancy lark ain't pretty - when does the glowing bit start?

Good luck tomorrow EnvioChick. Please let us know how you get on.

TakingTheStairs Thu 04-Apr-13 13:21:13

The underwires only do damage if the bra doesn't fit you properly and they dig into the milk ducts. So you can stay in underwired bras, but you will have to buy quite a few as you grow.

Aoifebelle Thu 04-Apr-13 14:14:35

But I need the wires to hold them up! I might hire a small child or similar to hold them up for the next 8 months.

Vocalista86 Thu 04-Apr-13 14:20:03

I am least looking forward to this bit of pregnancy, my mum's grew humoungously and never went back!

Though... at nearly 6 weeks, no tenderness or growth yet. Normal?!

TakingTheStairs Thu 04-Apr-13 14:42:24

Aoifebelle I am not abandoning the underwire thing! No way. I had double boobs too at Pilates (which prompted a trip to Victoria's Secret!).
Though I wonder where you could hire a small child to hold them up, their poor arms would get very sore!

Fingers crossed EnvioChick good luck at your appointment tomorrow.

I have my first scan on the 15th, I'm so impatient, I want it now <stamps foot> grin

13loki Thu 04-Apr-13 16:26:13

Ah, Aoifebelle I was a 32FF before my first pregnancy. They got bigger each time and never returned to their old size. Now a 32J! Was JJ at the height of breastfeeding. Hopefully they don't grow too much this time. I will need scaffolding rather than a maternity bra.

So, I went to the dentist to check if I had made an appointment instead of a midwife appointment. I did! The most annoying thing is this would make a brilliant Swedish lessons story, but it's too early to tell. So I guess I will call the midwife tomorrow to try to make an appointment.

Today we went and sorted our mortgage for the house we are buying next month! And popped to IKEA and found an armchair we ave been wanting for 65% off in the bargain corner.

b0nker5Mum Thu 04-Apr-13 17:42:02

Hello all, nice to meet you. grin

I have been lurking on the conception board for a few months but thought I should probably introduce myself as feeling a little rude since I know so much about most of you... wink

I think I have posted a few comments on other boards but I'm still fairly new to the world of forums so please go easy on me.. wink

So I got my bfp officially on tues but did a sneaky Internet cheapy on sun and thought the line was too faint so did another with dp on mon eve and same again so bought a clearblue and got bfp.... Eeek

I am absolutely terrified, I have a lovely DD who is 16 whom I practically brought up alone until I met my DP a few years ago, so it's almost new to both of us....

Also I have PCOS and this was our first attempt at ttc so am still a little shocked... Hopefully it will all be ok...

Symptoms so far... Not sleeping very well, cramps worse than af, and lots of cm... (Sorry!), edd 10th December.

Wow! Sorry for the essay! Look forward to speaking and sharing with you all over the next 8 months....

Rosebelle Thu 04-Apr-13 17:54:43

Hi b0nker5mum! Congratulations on the BFP!

Re the underwired bras, if they fit correctly (ie against your ribcage instead of sitting on the breast tissue) then in theory there is no problem. It's just that a lot of women wear badly fitting bras so the theory is that the underwire could squash the milk ducts.

From personal experience, I wore underwires through both my pregnancies, changing to Anita underwire feeding bras nearer the end, they have softer underwiring and the bras are very soft and comfortable but the support is fabulous, my boobs were massive towards the end. If I tried any non-underwired bras I got a monoboob resting on top of my bump smile I breastfed both my DCs with no problems at all. Just my experience but hope this helps.

Aoifebelle Thu 04-Apr-13 18:21:09

Hi gooseygirl. I live right by homerton so will be there. They have a pretty swish birthing set up, but only available if you are low risk.otherwise you are in the hospital

OrbisNonSufficit Thu 04-Apr-13 19:40:18

Vocalista86 I'm wondering the same thing. Quite keen for that bit of pregnancy to start, mine are pretty small (34B)!

TakingTheStairs Thu 04-Apr-13 22:33:31

Hi Bonker5. Congratulations! and welcome to the thread. We're all nice here, so no need to worry smile

13loki hahaha. I can't believe you made a dentist appointment like you thought. They must have thought you were over sharing like crazy when you gave them your history! Eek!
But yay for the chair

Hi everyone, had first midwife appointment yesterday, it's all starting to feel real now!

Have a reassurance scan next Friday, a screening appointment at the hospital o. The 22nd where they'll take all the info from the milllion forms I have to fill in, measure my height and weight and do a blood test. Then that's it until my 12 week scan!

Can't believe how I'm wishing my life away, just want to be at the 12 weeks already!

weechops Fri 05-Apr-13 07:52:38

Oh clare that's exciting, it's all go now smile

I'm going to phone today for a doctor's appointment next week, and he can refer me to the midwives. And then I'll be counting down to 12 weeks too smile

Aoifebelle Fri 05-Apr-13 07:55:16

I had a bit of a scary night. Had incredibly intense cramping for about 15 mins. Was drenched in sweat, dizzy and wretching. Went as quickly as it came.no blood this morning. Not sure what to do now.any advice ladies? Deffo want an early scan do most practice's offer them?

13loki Fri 05-Apr-13 08:08:58

Morning. I might try to make a midwife appointment. Wonder what I'll end up with this time. Vet appointment perhaps?

OrbisNonSufficit Fri 05-Apr-13 08:25:59

Oh dear Aoifebelle that doesn't sound fun at all. [hugs]

Do you have a midwife yet? I'd definitely call them, or your GP. The fact that there's no blood is really good though, that's the big red flag (no pun intended). Can you afford an early private scan if they won't do one on the NHS (for peace of mind)?

MildredH Fri 05-Apr-13 08:27:13

Sorry you had a bad night Aoife- could it be unrelated ie: something you've eaten? Is your other half ok?

Def worth a visit to the gp I'd say..

Hope you're feeling ok today.

Aoifebelle Fri 05-Apr-13 08:29:53

Thanks orbis. For this I will find the cash. My docs are usually pretty good. Have appt on Wednesday. I think I will give them a call today as well.

Shootingstarsandcomets Fri 05-Apr-13 08:36:29

Oh dear aoife hope you're feeling better now. Most places will do you an early scan if you have had a previous mc or any bleeding. Definitely give your midwife a call. Also some EPU are self referral so you can just walk in. The one at st Mary's in Manchester you can just turn up I think but not sure where you are.
Only 4 days until my scan- eeek! I'm wishing it away too really although am still terrified about having two small people in my life. I swear I could feel movement last night and had massive fear that I'll go for the scan and they'll say oh yes you're 16 weeks and baby 2 will be here sooner than I thought.
Pop up ball bit still popped up despite many hours wrestling with it grin

Popscene21 Fri 05-Apr-13 08:45:57

Hi everyone, I have an early internal scan booked for this morning to rule out potential ectopic. Has anyone had one of these? I'm so nervous and just don't know what to expect. X

Aoifebelle Fri 05-Apr-13 09:13:07

Thanks for the messages. Waiting in the drs now. Pain gone, just feel totally wiped and a bit shaky. My OH looks rougher than me. I was not a pretty site. For all those with scans today, mucho good luck

TryDrawing Fri 05-Apr-13 09:22:49

Best wishes to you for this morning Aoife hope your gp is thorough and reassuring.

shooting it made me sit up when you mentioned St Mary's. that's where I had dd and will hopefully be having this one, too! Dh says the trick for your ball pit is to push and twist at the same time he often has unhelpful advice grin

Vocalista86 Fri 05-Apr-13 10:37:25

Aoifebelle thinking of you, I hope the Dr can give you some good news, perhaps you need lots of rest?

pop Yes, I've had several, you need to have an empty bladder, thats really important. They fon't feel pleasent, however they are the best way to see things early on. I found that I had a small bit of cramping after each one.... hope it goes well today.

13loki Fri 05-Apr-13 10:57:44

Aoifebelle sorry, I missed your post. Hope the doc has a simple explanation for you xxx
pop Good luck with the scan

Vocalista86 Fri 05-Apr-13 11:34:26

Is anyone else finding they have to eat to stop the morning sickness? I am going to get so fat!!

Shootingstarsandcomets Fri 05-Apr-13 11:39:09

Thanks drawing will try your. Dh's advice later!
Yes vocalista eating little and often is the key. I fun the best things are really plain stuff- ready salted hula hoops are my staple or toast. I was the size of a house last time so expect the size of a small row of houses this time round!

FluffyDucky Fri 05-Apr-13 13:22:08

I've been lucky so far & only had a little nasuea, I try & nibble on a dry cracker which seems to help. However, its very early days yet....confused

TakingTheStairs Fri 05-Apr-13 13:36:16

A little bit of nausea here. It's fine until I get hungry, and then I go from quite hungry to feeling sick very quickly.

kyz1981 Fri 05-Apr-13 13:56:29

Nausea has certainly hit me in the last 3 days - and I have the most horrid taste in my mouth. I am finding drinking really hard as most drinks make me feel awful, lemonade and soda water seems to help the best.

This morning I opened the fridge and saw a cucumber and that sent me running to the loo, everything is setting me off at the moment. Even waking up at 2-3am feeling sick. Its def much worse on an empty stomach.

TakingTheStairs Fri 05-Apr-13 14:28:58

oh kyz you poor pet sad

Aoifebelle Fri 05-Apr-13 14:37:19

Just back from the scan. It wasn't conclusive. Either a MC or my dates are out and it is an earlier pregnancy that I thought, as it looks like a normal early pregnancy. They have taken bloods to measure HCG, need to go back on Sunday to see if it has doubled. So begins nervous waiting. I feel a major house clean coming on.

Can I just also say I LOVE the NHS. 9am, went to GPs, 11.45 appointment with GP, 1.30 appointment with the EPU, out by 2.30 with the best follow up, being seen again over the weekend. Everyone I met was very professional.

kyz1981 Fri 05-Apr-13 14:52:18

Aoifebelle- Fingers and toes crossed for you -really pleased you are seeing someone over the weekend.

TakingThestairs - had this with my DD so I kind of expected it, Just not as easy with two DC to look after.

Shootingstarsandcomets Fri 05-Apr-13 15:24:53

Fingers crossed aoife and I think the nhs are fab too!
How did your scan go popscene?

Hey everyone. Fingers crossed all Is well aoifebelle.
I've got no sickness yet but if I'm hungry then I'm hungry! I ain't half pissed of with the constipation already. Tmi sorry but I'm struggling. I'm thinking bout paying for private early scan to check everything's ticking long. Just feel more worried this time round. Dunno why.

MildredH Fri 05-Apr-13 15:43:49

Hi all..

So, an update.. Just got the results of my HCG's and they did indeed double between Weds & Fri.

Had a scan yesterday as realised last min I had a f/up at fertility clinic and went along. Saw fetal pole & sac but no hb ( hopefully because too early).

He's put me on progesterone pessaries ( which are in fact as horrid as they sound) and wants to rescan in 10 days. He said I'm to stay off and rest ( --go stir crazy--) in the meantime.

Have also started feeling nauseus just today ( probably psychosomatic now I know my hormones are going up..!) it's like that queasy feeling you get when hungry but actually don't quite fancy anything much to eat..

MildredH Fri 05-Apr-13 15:45:38

Ps-

Aoife- am so glad you had a good experience.. It's so variable with different epu's. it's great they're seeing you Sunday so you've hopefully not got the whole weekend in limbo.. Here's hoping for a good result..

Pop scene- have you had your scan?

kyz1981 Fri 05-Apr-13 15:56:43

Mildred - I think the earliest you can see a heartbeat is at 5 weeks 4 days (as thats the time it starts)- according to my mum who is taking her scanning test next week. So fingers crossed you should see so much more on your next scan,

MildredH Fri 05-Apr-13 16:03:48

Ah thanks kyz- that's reassuring! I was only 5+1 when scanned yesterday.

Gosh it's a shame your mum doesn't have an ultrasound probe at home.. You could have daily reassurance!

weechops Fri 05-Apr-13 16:19:36

Fingers crossed everything is well aoifebelle.

I'll jump on the nausea bandwagon. All day nausea and worse when I'm hungry. I escaped any kind of sickness with dd and ds so this is obviously karma smile

kyz1981 Fri 05-Apr-13 16:44:46

I know .. I brought a doppler with DD when I was 14 weeks and that used to reassure me until I felt her move. ( not sure all the time if I was hearing the placenta or the HB at times though.)-

Weechops I am finding this one very different from the others as I have had a lot less stretching and cervical pains- and I felt PG from day one with this one. my muscles must be well used now lol.

That's good that your hcg doubled and that you're feeling queasy Mildred. Hopefully your next scan will be even more reassuring.
How far along are you weechops? I didn't eat morning sickness til 6 weeks with ds so am expecting that to Hit sometime next week. Really hoping its not as bad as with ds though.

Gooseysgirl Fri 05-Apr-13 17:04:28

Hope all will be ok for you Aoife, a friend if mine has long term experience of EPU at Homerton and can't say enough about them! My booking appt will also be the same day as 12 week scan, got letter today. Am going to have a private early scan at around 8 weeks... It still doesn't give any guarantees that we will make it twelve weeks but I liked the reassurance last time round. Have been queasy most of the day, with DD the queasiness lasted til about 9-10 weeks..

OrbisNonSufficit Fri 05-Apr-13 17:58:18

Aoife Fingers crossed for you for good news on the weekend!

Still waiting for any symptoms... I know I'm only about 4 weeks but still. Despite evidence from 2 cb digitals I don't really feel pregnant....

EnvioChick Fri 05-Apr-13 19:06:34

Hi all,

Sorry I dont have time to read through all the posts since yesterday but hope you are all well.

Unfortunately its time for me to say goodbye and very good luck.

Went to the Dr this morning and she referred me for an early scan due to not knowing a EDD and the slight bleeding since Wed. Had the scan (with a very unsympathetic sonographer) but they couldn't see anything and when she did a urine test it was (virtually) negative (despite me having a very much positive home test this morning). She sent me for a hCG test and that came back as still high enough to be technically pregnant but very low considering I had a positive home test over a week ago. So looks like little blob didn't continue developing and the hCG levels are gradually decreasing. Have another test on Sunday to make sure.
Sonographer is just expecting me to start bleeding properly soon so just have to wait for that I guess. I have no idea what to expect but I guess its just a period really.

very sad and have a long few days ahead waiting for it to happen. It just wasn't my time this time.

Wish you all the very best of luck with your babies.

Oh enviochick, I'm so sorry.hugs for you. Look after yourself xx

OrbisNonSufficit Fri 05-Apr-13 19:17:55

So so sorry enviochick x

weechops Fri 05-Apr-13 19:32:23

Ninja I'm only 4+1 but I'm feeling everything intensely this time round, if that makes sense. Maybe its like kyz said and my muscles are shot to bits by now smile

MildredH Fri 05-Apr-13 19:48:44

Envio- I'm hugely sorry for you. There's a helpful thread over in miscarriage/pregnancy loss which has a lot of good info on what to expect.

Look after yourself. Xx

13loki Fri 05-Apr-13 19:50:27

envio so sorry. When I had my mc in February, it was a bit like a really crampy period. Actually, there was no (physical) pain for th first day, then an awful day, then like a heavy crampy period for a few days.

Aoifebelle Fri 05-Apr-13 20:00:32

Arse shit and bugger envio. Lots of hugs your way. You are in for a grim few days and weeks but it does get better.

Gooseysgirl Fri 05-Apr-13 21:06:05

Sorry to hear this Envio sad

Rosebelle Fri 05-Apr-13 22:16:55

So sorry envio x I had a very early m/c a few years ago where I had a +ve test that had gone to a -ve during the week, I started period the day after the negative. It wasn't any more uncomfortable than a normal period for me, hopefully it'll be the same for you. Thinking of you x

So sorry Envio - take care of yourself x

b0nker5Mum Sat 06-Apr-13 08:07:08

Leonas Sat 06-Apr-13 10:30:36

So sorry to hear of anyone getting bad news sad
I did 3 tests 2 days ago (DP wasn't convinced by the first 2!) and got 3 BFPs. Been waiting for this for over a year so am quietly over the moon! According to a due date calculator online I am due around December 4th. So weird, doesn't feel like it is me I am writing about?!

Shootingstarsandcomets Sat 06-Apr-13 10:48:26

Congrats and welcome leonas!

MildredH Sat 06-Apr-13 11:38:15

Congratulations Leonas! Same EDD as me.. grin

Are you feeling well?

kyz1981 Sat 06-Apr-13 12:45:59

Congrats Leonas x

Congrats leonas.
Well I've been feeling queasy since last night. not been sick. and its not helped by eating just got a constant low level queasiness. Much prefer this to the constant vomiting I had with ds so hoping it stays this way and doesn't get worse.

Leonas Sat 06-Apr-13 14:59:06

I feel totally fine. Was feeling crap a couple of weeks ago - exhausted, dizzy, etc - and went to the doctor who said it was probably some viral thing that was on its way out but I'm guessing it was more pregnancy related. Have constant butterflies but I am just really excited - get our official lab results on Tuesday which means my DP won't have to just take the home tests for granted, it will be 'official'!

weechops Sat 06-Apr-13 16:23:12

Congratulations leonas smile

Rosebelle Sat 06-Apr-13 18:00:53

Hello Leonas! Welcome to the Dec party smile

Shootingstarsandcomets Sat 06-Apr-13 18:35:55

It's funny isn't it my DH didnt really believe me until he saw ds on the scan the first time round and am pretty sure it's not sunk in for him this time yet too! It's so different for the men. In other news........pop up thing is in the bin!!

plentyofsoap Sat 06-Apr-13 21:01:50

Hi, can I join too pleasesmile Due 8 dec. However my ds who is four was 7 weeks early so hopefully this one will be on time! Already had a scan on frid as I had slight bleeding and a little heartbeat could be seen which we were surprised at as its so early. Feel very sick so taking this as a good sign so far...

Weescottie Sat 06-Apr-13 21:15:55

Hi all,
Can I join the club? I got my BFP on Tuesday grin This will be my and DH first. We've been trying since Xmas but somehow was still a shock to get a positive! I did a HPT on the Friday (BFN)as we were visiting family at the weekend, so had convinced myself AF was on her way. The pregnancy calculator puts my EDD as 11 Dec. I'm so happy but nervous as well - trying not to get too excited in case something goes wrong as its such early days. We've not told anyone yet so would be lovely to have people to chat to!

Weescottie Sat 06-Apr-13 21:22:40

Oh cross posts! Hi plenty smile
Congrats and good news on the scan- cant believe there was a heartbeat already, amazing!
Hope your morning sickness isn't too bad. I've not had many symptoms other than a bit of cramping and dizziness, fingers crossed sickness stays away - I hate being sick! Still plenty of time for it to appear though.

FoxyRoxy Sat 06-Apr-13 22:21:24

Hi, found out I'm expecting again, ds2 is only 6m! EDD is 8th December smile

Rosebelle Sat 06-Apr-13 22:42:50

Congrats on all the latest BFP's joining the thread!

Plentyofsoap - wow, seeing the heartbeat already, that's amazing!

Weescottie the first BFP is so exciting! My first BFP seems an age ago now but I remember how it felt very clearly! As I stared at the pregnancy test in the Ladies at work and saw the line appear I felt dizzy and sick, my head pounded and I was so shocked I actually walked straight out of work there and then, telling the receptionist on the way out to tell my boss I had been taken ill suddenly blush I was a bit more cool & collected with DC2's BFP!

FoxyRoxy two close together will be awesome, friends with a similar gap say it is helpful to have the DCs at the same sorts of stage re toys and activites!

Soopermum1 Sun 07-Apr-13 09:22:32

Stepping tentatively onto this thread. EDD 6th Dec with DC2. Have been bleeding since Wednesday night, though. Nothing heavy, and no pain, mostly brown stuff, but a little faint red every now and again. Bought a dating preg test and did another test this morning that seems to indicate HCG levels still where they should be (i.e said 3+ week pregnant)

Will make appointment with doctor tomorrow. Didn't want to hurry as ddin't want to go for scan too early to have to go back because it was too early to see anything either way.

Was sure I was going to have a mc, but the longer this goes on with the bleeding not really getting any better or worse am getting more hopeful. Will see what next week brings.

QueenofWhispers Sun 07-Apr-13 11:40:52

Hi guys! Just found out we're expecting. The due date calculator says I'm due on Dec. 26th 2013

Katie2702 Sun 07-Apr-13 12:12:14

Hi Everyone!! I am brand new to Mumsnet smile I am 4weeks(or so) pregnant with number 4 smile Am feeling really miserable and sick, don't remember this kicking in so quickly with the others sad

Congrats to everyone on the thread...look forward to getting to know you all xxx

somethingcool Sun 07-Apr-13 12:57:32

Hi all, I'm a bit of a lurker so probably won't say much!
Think I'm due 3rd Dec but cycles are a rather variable so not too sure - early December anyway! Thinking of paying for an early scan just to get a proper date, anyone done that?

Hope everyone is well and enjoying the lovely sunshine!

FoxyRoxy Sun 07-Apr-13 13:46:18

aofiebelle hope today brings good news

sooper I hope you get a referral to the epu tomorrow, I have my fingers crossed for you.

rosebelle I hope so! Ds2 is a really good baby so I'm hoping the next one is too!

Shootingstarsandcomets Sun 07-Apr-13 18:48:24

I've got a 7 month old ds too foxy so mine will be close too.
Hope everyone is ok today. And we have a Boxing Day baby due date, exciting!
Tomorrow is going to drag for me as will be wishing the hours away before my scan on Tuesday. Really can't wait to see what's in there. I did have a mmc so sort of dont count my chickens too much before i see the heartbeat on the screen.

Aoifebelle Sun 07-Apr-13 20:14:15

Good news ladies. I had blood results today and hcg has indeed doubled, so it looks like peanut it a bit younger than I thought. I am soooo relieved. I think I might hang out in the creme egg thread for a while, until the general panic subsides.

Sooper, if the scan doesn't show the necessary then hopefully bloods will, it just takes a bit longer. Sounds like you have done this before, having the scan too early did my nut in.

Ta ta for now ladies and thanks for the support, hopefully see you in about 6 weeks when hopefully I will be more confident that junior is here to stay.

Rosebelle Sun 07-Apr-13 20:46:21

Wonderful news, aoife! Take care and see you in a little while x

Hello & congratulations to all the new BFPs!

Soopermum1 Sun 07-Apr-13 21:19:18

Hi Aoife

Haven't done this sort of thing before. Last preg was trouble free, but i did pick up loads of useful info from here, hence how I knew it would be better to wait a little if I wanted to get a result on screen, as such. Thanks ladies smile

Soopermum1 Sun 07-Apr-13 21:20:04

PS, great news re bloods smile

Shootingstarsandcomets Mon 08-Apr-13 08:32:35

Super news aoife, see you back here soon hopefully.

No patience here whatsoever... No way I can wait the 12 weeks, going to book private scan for 8 weeks grin

Thanksforthat Mon 08-Apr-13 10:36:12

Hi all. Can I join. Got my BFP on Saturday. EDD Dec 19th. Have a 4 yo DD already.
Already have a UTI and thrush. Trademarks of pregnancy for me.

Roll on the end of first Tri. Only 8 weeks of feeling Bleuch to go!!!

harry78 Mon 08-Apr-13 11:03:17

Ooh how do you book a private scan??

harry78 Mon 08-Apr-13 11:03:48

Feeling pretty light headed today. Tell me that's normal ladies....

plentyofsoap Mon 08-Apr-13 11:13:40

Harry it is normal try not to worry. I went for a private scan at 8 weeks last time and there are private companies that do it for around £75. I have seen our local hospital is doing it now so its worth a google search. I will try and wait til 12 weeks as long as I continue to feel this sick (if that makes sense) grin

TakingTheStairs Mon 08-Apr-13 11:51:25

harry, It's perfectly normal to feel light headed. You have more oxygen in your blood than normal so that will affect how you feel.
I'm going to this place for my early scan, it was recommended by my consultant. You can just call and book. But be aware, my GP said don't go before 7 weeks as you'll get better results/reading after that.

TakingTheStairs Mon 08-Apr-13 11:57:07

Just saw that my dating scan will be £180. I'm covered by my health insurance but if you're not, I'm sure you can find the same scan for much less money.

b0nker5Mum Mon 08-Apr-13 11:57:08

Hi all,

Congrats on the new BFPs.

I have a bit of a dilemma at work. One of my colleagues has been going through ivf for the past few years will no positive results, I am feeling awful because she doesn't even know we were going to start trying and her latest round has left her with a bad infection and needing an emergency operation (Not sure on the details). Her manager (old school, doesn't think there is a place for women in the workforce!) doesn't think she should be paid because its self inflicted....

Anyway just needed to get that off my chest since there are only 2 other people who know in RL! sorry for dumping!

I was wondering.... I commute to work and wondered how people cope with the journey and possible morning sickness (mine has not started yet and the last time (a long time ago!) I drove to work so was ok to pull over do what I had to and get to work feeling much better!) and the constant need to pee... It will be noted if I get up as much as I need to go! I have cut down on tea but trying to take in more fluids (which will also be noted!)... Roll on 12 weeks...

What other symptoms are you all having? I'm 5 weeks today... And mainly the need to pee every 10 mins, bloating (I swear I look 5 months!!), cramps which seem worse when I eat or drink....

Shootingstarsandcomets Mon 08-Apr-13 12:05:01

Oh bonkers, that's rotten for your friend. How awful. The baby game is definitely difficult. I have a friend who start trying same time as us and we are now on dc2 whilst they have none- am dreading telling her.
Private scans- I went to babybond with my first and it was £95, the first time I went I was too early and they let me have a free rescan. Not sure if all places do that but I thought it was pretty good of them.
Symptoms here include peeing a lot, ballooning boobs and feeling queasy on and off all day but no actually throwing up which is a blessing.
I've eaten lunch already- oops! Going to be starving in about.........half an hour grin

Weescottie Mon 08-Apr-13 12:51:58

Bonkers that is awful about your colleague- can't believe how mean her manager is being!

Harry I also have been light headed - seems to be normal I think! My only other symptoms have been cramping, a little bloating and tender boobs. I panicked at the weekend as symptoms disappeared for a couple of days - never thought I'd be so glad for cramping to return hmm

I'm finding it do hard to keep being pregnant a secret, desperate to tell someone! My mum phoned last night and was so hard to say I'd no news. But she is at a family wedding in a weeks time and there would be no hope of her not telling everyone so hoping to tell her at 8 weeks when things are a bit more developed and she's hot less chance to blab in excitement smile

I also have a question re seeing doc/ midwife. I've booked myself a doc appointment for next week (was all they had) but wondering if instead I should book with midwife? Do you just ask the receptionist? <clueless> The reason I booked doc is that I have an underactive thyroid and read that I would need my bloods checked more regularly if pregnant. Anyone any experience of this?

MildredH Mon 08-Apr-13 13:16:08

Weescot- I'd def see the gp if I were you re the thyroid. They will deal with that bit then send you on to the mw for booking in..

b0nker5Mum Mon 08-Apr-13 13:30:33

When I phoned the doc last week to ask whether I should see the doc first or straight to the mw the receptionist said I can't possibly self diagnose and should see the doc! (Which they have just cancelled and can't reschedule as they are too busy!!!)

Soopermum1 Mon 08-Apr-13 13:31:42

Got back from docs, he referred me to EPU but when I called them up I spoke to a lovely lady who reckons the bleeding is implantation bleeding. I've got a scan next week, to be on the safe side, when there'll def be something to see. She also said running will make no difference so will strap on my trainers and go for a run tonight, if I can squash myself into my sports bra, though. Trip to Bravissimo imminent hmm

Surprised at preg symptoms this time round, I had none the last time, apart from peeing all the time. This time I have nausea and massive sore boobs and this bleeding malarky

harry78 Mon 08-Apr-13 13:56:10

Yay! Nurse booked for 2 was time and found a local private clinic who will do a confirmation of pregnancy scan at 8 weeks...only £45. Bargain!

TakingTheStairs Mon 08-Apr-13 14:25:36

Wow Harry that's a really good price! Where are you based if you don't mind me asking.

MildredH Mon 08-Apr-13 14:41:34

Don't tempt me Harry- at 45 pounds I'd like a weekly scan to prevent this anxiety!!

harry78 Mon 08-Apr-13 14:44:55

Telford in Shropshire. I'm just gutted they won't book me in until 8 weeks. As you say I'd be there every other day at this rate!

kyz1981 Mon 08-Apr-13 15:14:11

Congrats to all the new BFP!

Been to the Gp today as I think i'm low on iron, and she has booked me in for a dating scan to confirm my dates as I had a chemical Pg before this one and GP wants to make sure it was a Chemical Pg rather than an early bleed that would make me much further along, so my scan is on thursday!!- bit stunned at how quickly she managed that but very pleased!

Hope everyones not feeling to bad- my nausea is pretty much for most of the day now as is the horrible taste in my mouth- I have also been faint and dizzy.

£45.00 is sooo cheap - my local one is £95 ! but I can't justify that at the moment -so was really happy that I am getting a dating scan.

Iris1 Mon 08-Apr-13 16:47:21

Hi can I join in?
BFP last week, no idea how far I am but must be due sometime in december I think. I had a miscarriage at 5 weeks just over 5 weeks ago so I suppose I could be 4 weeks or I could be 2 - no idea. Bit nervous but hoping for the best.
Already have DS 4 and DD2 who will be 5 and 3 by then.

Rang community midwives but as im out of catchment for hospital I want (st marys Manchester - its amazing no chance im going anywhere else!) I have to go to gp and get them to refer me to hosp so I presume then all appointments will be at the hospital.
2 weeks till I can see gp! Hoping he will get me a scan asap to find a date - if I play on my worries from mc do you think it will help get an earlier scan?

Looking forward to chatting with you alll smile

Shootingstarsandcomets Mon 08-Apr-13 17:42:21

Hi iris and congrats! The EPU at st Mary's are great. I went to them with my mc and they were so lovely. They will definitely do you a reassurance scan I'm sure. We've moved away from Manchester now or I'd love to have my baby there.
Today's gone really quickly in the end. One more sleep until my scan- eeek!

I've found a place that does private scans for £50 and its only 1 mile from my house. Very tempting ... Think I might have to go ...

SorryMyLollipop Mon 08-Apr-13 18:44:32

I just googled - early pregnancy scan xxxxxxx (my area), loads came up.

Iris1 Mon 08-Apr-13 18:47:28

Hi shooting I went to st marys EPU for my mc too they were lovely. I also had my dd there in 2010 and it was great, not like in 2008 when I had my ds (in Oldham-bloody awful).
Ive just never experienced having to go togp to be referred to hospital before as I lived In a different area when I had my other two and there you just saw community midwives but apparently community midwives here wont see you if you want st marys!

Two weeks for a gp appointment! Time will definitely drag on this time I think - wont relax till I have had a scan!

Good luck to all those having scans soon!

harry78 Mon 08-Apr-13 19:01:40

So, is anyone else being clumsy and a bit spacey? So far I have put the remote control in the washing machine, stopped at a green light and generally forgetting what I am saying halfway through a sentence. Anyone else?

kyz1981 Mon 08-Apr-13 19:04:44

Harry78 - Yes - its a habit that once you have kids never leaves you, I always check the fridge if I can't find something and 9 times out of 10 its there.

Shootingstarsandcomets Mon 08-Apr-13 19:15:04

Yes! Spacey here definitely, although not sure i can put it all down to pregnancy might have something to do with a nocturnal 7 month old! Must get him sleeping through the night before sprog 2 arrives or I really will be a total zombie.

harry78 Mon 08-Apr-13 19:54:35

And I found today i could barely make it through the day without wanting a nap. I had one as soon as I got in!

PistachioTruffle Mon 08-Apr-13 21:31:45

Hello, can I join too? Just got a bfp yesterday, due December 5th with first baby! (Although I suspect my due date will be moved back at the dating scan)

Feeling excited and really quite nervous, can't quite believe it. It seems so fragile at the minute, really hoping all goes well. Tying to keep it to ourselves until after first trimester.

OrbisNonSufficit Mon 08-Apr-13 22:24:30

harry Tell me about it re the napping! Every time I eat I get drowned in tiredness like I'm swimming in treacle... I may need to stop eating at work!

OrbisNonSufficit Mon 08-Apr-13 22:28:27

Hello pistachio! I can't really believe it either. We're not sure when to tell everyone either - just in case... But I don't think I can keep it secret for months. Besides I'm dying to quiz my mum about what her pregnancies were like.

Those not on #1, when did you tell nearest and dearest (I know the world at large is at end of first trimester)?

Ganetgob Mon 08-Apr-13 22:35:01

Hi everyone, can I join?

I got my bfp today so am due on 15th December.

I have an appointment with the nurse tomorrow (thought now was a good time to join a doctors by my new house!) It's just a 'new patient health check' thing but I guess I'll be able to talk to her about it all or make a follow up appointment with a doctor.

I'm really worried that its all in my head though. There were definitely 2 lines, I looked a hundred times but I'm going to do another test in the morning to double check!

Congratulations to everyone already here!

Ganetgob Mon 08-Apr-13 22:45:46

I'm on my phone, so can't add myself but I'm ganetgob, EDD 15th dec, baby no 1. Would someone mind adding me please?

Thanks x

Soopermum1 Mon 08-Apr-13 22:59:33

Hi Orbis

With my DC1 I told my mum straight away, but I wished I hadn't as we had a scare with the scan (lots more tests) and my mum was distraught and very worried about me.

This time, I'm going to wait til all that is finished and the coast is (hopefully) clear. Not sure if she'll be that happy though, I think she thinks she's done with tiny babies- eek!

I told a few very close friends, but pretty much kept it all under wraps until after the scan. This time, same again.

OrbisNonSufficit Tue 09-Apr-13 07:24:29

Thanks for the advice Soopermum. Do you mean the dating scan or the anomaly scan?

Shootingstarsandcomets Tue 09-Apr-13 08:03:02

My closest friends spotted it when I was about 8 weeks- I looked different apparently (palefaced and nauseous accompanied by huge boobs!) told everyone after 12 week scan and work at 16 weeks but they all said they'd known for weeks too!
Will probably tell some people after scan today if all ok. 2 hours to go! Have a good day all.

harry78 Tue 09-Apr-13 08:05:51

Have a great scan shootingstars

harry78 Tue 09-Apr-13 08:06:19

Hmmm...today I found my iPad charger in the washbasket. Where has my brain gone!!

13loki Tue 09-Apr-13 09:10:20

Good luck shootingstars

I'm going to try to make a dentist midwife appointment (again).

Congratulations to all the new BFPs.

Yesterday I was moaning about having to go to Swedish lessons after work and a (rather pregnant) colleague told me I should just get pregnant, then I can make midwife appointments at the times I should be doing swedish. I was all, oh, yeah, what a brilliant idea.

MildredH Tue 09-Apr-13 10:46:21

All the best for the scan shooting...

13loki- Swedish lessons after work? Yeesh. I guess it may prevent more dental/mw mix ups but I honestly don't know how I'd stay awake to learn anything after a day at work!

I'm like a doormouse at the moment. Curling up and going to sleep at any opportunity!

Are you overseas temporarily or will you be permanently based there?

13loki Tue 09-Apr-13 11:16:03

Well, I've just had a little doze on the lounge watching something special with the 2yo. I was too lazy forgot to call the midwife this morning. I will have to call her this afternoon, they have very specific times when you can call or the world will end.

The lessons after work are often excruciating. But I have to learn it, I live here, and it will be permanent don't tell my mum.

Shootingstarsandcomets Tue 09-Apr-13 11:30:47

Well ladies I didn't know how pregnant I was turns out I am 12 weeks 3 days!!! Edd 19th October! Expected to see a tiny little heartbeat today but there was a whole baby two arms two legs, heartbeat everything! shock
They did the nuchal test too and that seems fine although obvs haw to wait for the bloods. Think I'd better go and find an October club as dont think I can really stay here now. Good luck all with the rest of your journey. Xxx

MildredH Tue 09-Apr-13 11:36:35

Woohoo lucky you Shooting! That's great news.. Am SOOO jealous. Can't imagine better news than being further on than I thought.. ( ++ impatient!)

Best of luck xx

kyz1981 Tue 09-Apr-13 11:38:03

wow congrats shootingstarsandcomets!! Good luck with everything and I am so glad the scan went well.

b0nker5Mum Tue 09-Apr-13 11:41:03

Wow that's exciting shootingstars!

Glad everything is ok.

(Secretly hoping that happens to me!!smile)

Just managed to have my docs appointment, who sent me to the reception to get the midwife referral form which should have been done by the doc so I don't have much faith in getting the referral... (Will ring next week)...

Big dilemma today is which hospital to use... Am I allowed to view both? We are moving soon so will be a little closer to a different hosp but I don't have a clue about that one and no idea what I should look for... I didn't have a choice with my daughter...

Weescottie Tue 09-Apr-13 11:41:11

Wow, that's great! Hope the next 6 months go smoothly for you.

I'd love to jump the next 6 weeks. Lol.

QueenofWhispers Tue 09-Apr-13 12:22:36

Hi Guys!

I'm back again. I have a little dilemma. So the weekend before last I took a pg test and tested negative. Felt a bit weird again last week so took 6 tests on Sunday (all positive). Anyone have any Idea how pregnant I could be? My last period was Feb 21st. I'm a little bit worried.

I asked my GP for a dating scan but he said they don't do those.

MildredH Tue 09-Apr-13 12:43:16

Hi queen,

My last period was feb 27 and I'm 5 weeks 6 days today so I'd guess you're 6 weeks 5 days..

Congrats!

QueenofWhispers Tue 09-Apr-13 12:46:09

Thanks MildredH smile Congrats to you too!

b0nker5Mum Tue 09-Apr-13 13:10:25

Hi queen, it also depends on your cycle... My lmp was 24th feb but I am only 5 + 1 (I was charting tho as I wouldn't have a clue when my next period was due otherwise... )....

Hope you are further along...smile

TakingTheStairs Tue 09-Apr-13 13:45:08

shooting What wonderful news! Congratulations!!!

Queen that wasn't very helpful of him was it! Do you have the ability to buy a clear blue digital test? That will give you and indication of how many weeks you are, if it says 3+ then you'll be a minimum of 5 weeks, but how many weeks you are will depend on when you ovulated.

13loki Tue 09-Apr-13 14:31:42

shooting Wow. That must be strange to get your head around.

Queen Congratulations. My best guess is they'll date from your last period to book in a scan around 12 weeks, and they will change your dates then if needed.

So I called the kvinnohälsavård (women's health centre) and I now have an appointment with a midwife no dentist this time, I triple checked Monday morning. She sounded all confused when we were going through dates, so I think she has booked me in as soon as possible because she can't really work out my dates. Unfortunately booked for the morning, so no skipping swedish lessons. I do, however, miss a staff meeting, which is almost as good.

QueenofWhispers Tue 09-Apr-13 14:56:19

Thanks everyone, I've sent DH out to find the clear blue test; I walked past that specific test only like 50 times yesterday--I don't know what I was thinking when I didn't pick it up. I even used it when I was having DS.

anyone else have their nipples on fire? I'm in absolute agony; I'm starting to think the best thing to do is stick ice packs on them in the mornings. brrrrr.

AirDuster Tue 09-Apr-13 15:06:24

May I join? I tested on Saturday fully expecting a negative - but a second line appeared, very very slowly, very very faint.

Due 14 December & if all goes well it would be DC1! It's so early days that I can't take it in really - strange to feel so different because of something no bigger than a full stop.

Gooseysgirl Tue 09-Apr-13 16:10:15

OMG Queen I know the feeling... A few days ago I thought I was going to go slowly insane with sore boobs and nipple itch!!! But TG it's stopped for the moment...

TakingTheStairs Tue 09-Apr-13 16:54:01

Congratulations AirDuster Welcome to the thread!

Ganetgob Tue 09-Apr-13 17:40:19

How is everyone finding pregnancy so far? Does anyone else have no symptoms whatsoever?

I have had a positive test but other than that I feel no different!

x

QueenofWhispers Tue 09-Apr-13 17:48:30

Ggirl Mine are not settling down! Nipple Fire craze. sad

Okay everyone, did the clear blue test, it says 2-3 weeks. Does that mean 4-5 weeks?

OrbisNonSufficit Tue 09-Apr-13 18:35:01

Queen yes it means 4-5 weeks (cb measures how pregnant you actually are, and you aren't actually pregnant for the first 2 weeks the way the NHS count it)... It's pretty accurate. I took two, one the day before AF due, one the day it was due (and I ovulate almost exactly 14 days before AF each month) - and it changed from 1-2 weeks to 2-3 weeks between the two tests.

OrbisNonSufficit Tue 09-Apr-13 18:42:34

Ganet same here. Not a lot of symptoms. Some weird things but they come and go - a bit dizzy sometimes, hyper sense of smell sometimes, every now and then exhausted for no reason, dry skin, a few more zits, bleeding gums, mildly queasy occasionally... Boobs still sadly the same size and most days I forget I'm pregnant for hours on end.

Gooseysgirl Tue 09-Apr-13 19:21:08

Queen it's awful confused It reminded me of how sore my nipples were after the first few days of BF last time, I must dig out the Lansinoh cos I've a feeling the itch will return!!!
My queasiness is getting worse but luckily I'm on hols at the moment.. No vomiting, phew!

Hey everyone. Sorry have missed loads. Congrats to any new bfp. Well nausea has definitely kicked in and is pretty much constant even when I wake in the night. I am knackered and not sleeping great either which isn't helpful. Apart from that I'm ok. And at least I've not been sick yet.

LadyMedea Tue 09-Apr-13 19:52:12

Need to moan... God I feel crap. I seem to be worse as th day goes on with nausea kicking in late afternoon, just in time to get carsick on the way home. Totally knackered and brain fully not functioning.... Worth I know but woah this is the crappy bit!

harry78 Tue 09-Apr-13 20:05:07

Has anyone got an achy back? It's the kind of ache (not pain) that you get when you've been bent over too long and just feels like I need to stretch it out. It's in my upper back where my bra goes. Any thoughts?

Weescottie Tue 09-Apr-13 21:06:46

My back is achy but more at the base of my spine.
What is with the bloating?! I seriously look like I've got a bump already. Might have to invest in some new work clothes to accommodate the extra air blush

Dasie Tue 09-Apr-13 21:09:01

Yep I'm a constant with the nausea too, it's getting worse everyday. Just keep thinking at least I've not actually been sick smile
And the exhaustion just makes it soooooo much worse!!

MildredH Tue 09-Apr-13 22:06:06

I'm with you all with the nausea and exhaustion. Off work this week but think I will really struggle next week..

Part of me thinks I shouldn't moan- especially having had a scare with the pregnancy. Also, it's partly reassuring that things are progressing but honestly another 6 weeks like this are going to be LONG!

harry78 Tue 09-Apr-13 22:37:03

Oh dear... Just me with the achy back then?

Vocalista86 Tue 09-Apr-13 22:41:19

Dasie Right with you all with the nausea, today it has been baaad.... nearly had to sit down in the lift at work, what a sight that would have been but thought today might have been the day I was actually sick but luckily I haven't been! It's been getting increasingly bad since 4 weeks and am now 6w 3d and hoping it doesn't continue to get worse otherwise I will be in a heap. Also today eating didn't help! Boooo, I thought that was my fix.

Also I feel so fat! The bloat is ridiculous I have already had to buy 1 new pair of work trousers up a size, and tights are so uncomfy. But.... it will all be worth it in the end.

Can't wait for our reassurance scan, 1 week tomorrow, so excited.

Also, just made chocolate and banana muffins for a bake sale at work tomorrow, to raise money for someone running the London marathon, rather them than me but happy to eat cake! yum smile

Ganetgob Tue 09-Apr-13 22:41:52

No achey back for me I'm afraid. Nothing. Not a sausage. I'm a bit worried now. sad

FluffyDucky Tue 09-Apr-13 22:54:03

I find I am quite thirsty and feel hotter, they may be linked. I am totally fed up of being constipated already! (Apologies if TMI)
But if I only feel knackered and thirsty (and bunged up) for the next 8 months I'll be a happy bunny!

PistachioTruffle Tue 09-Apr-13 23:26:27

I have tender nipples, wearing a bra is agony and the band feels too tight already! I'm off tomorrow to find a couple of more comfortable bras. Apart from that, slightly increased cm and some very mild nausea if I go too long with without eating. And the bloat of course! 5+5 today.

QueenofWhispers Wed 10-Apr-13 00:04:24

Evening Ladies, just checking in before I fall asleep. Thank you girls for helping me figure out how pregnant I am exactly. Such a set of life savers you lot are smile

I've been calling around for obgyns today to see who is available to deliver my baby. I'm quite worried about developing pre-eclampsia this time too, (been there and have the t-shirt).

Lots of love to all of you and your bumps. I'll look for my old pot of lanisoh, maybe it'll help these crazy nipples of mine. Before we know it, we'll be leaking nipple cheese. blargh. xx

OrbisNonSufficit Wed 10-Apr-13 06:41:35

'nipple cheese'?? That doesn't sound good...

I'm a bit worried too now. Should I have more symptoms? Or is it just because I'm a week or so behind most of you? [frets]

PistachioTruffle Wed 10-Apr-13 07:02:24

orbis, I think every pregnancy is different, mine are really quite mild so I'm sure if I wasn't thinking about it I wouldn't notice them. In fact, I was absolutely convinced I wasn't pregnant this month! It's very possible that nausea and sore boobs are just round the corner for you, or you may be lucky and get none smile

MildredH Wed 10-Apr-13 07:39:11

Orbis- i felt entirely normal one week ago.. This mostly developed Friday-Saturday.

Pistachio is right though- you may be lucky and escape.

weechops Wed 10-Apr-13 08:09:12

orbis how far on are you? I'm only 4+6 and just have tender boobs. That's it! smile Hoping the whole pregnancy is nice and easy. Although memories of piles and constipation and heartburn makes me think probably not smile

How far along are you ganetgob? With ds I got no symptoms at all til 6 weeks when I started throwing up violently. Some of my. Friends have had no symptoms at all. So don't worry.

13loki Wed 10-Apr-13 08:25:03

Is it bedtime yet? I've been up 3 hours and I need a nap! Last night I went to bed before the kids, and I had had a doze in the middle of the day. Not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow, especially with lunch duty - I just looked at the lunch menu and it's ham in a creamy sauce on jacket potatoes. Just the thought turns my stomach, let alone having to spend half an hour right by the food.

This morning I nearly vomited in the neighbours hedge. Brilliant. All the while, my 2yo was yelling out "What's that noise, mummy?" Well, darling, it's me trying not to be sick. I shouldn't complain, I knew I don't cope well with being pregnant. With both DC I had morning sickness to at least 28 weeks. shock

plentyofsoap Wed 10-Apr-13 08:36:26

13-hope you are feeling better and good luck with work tomorrow.
I am going to attempt to eat later, but I know I need to try and drink more. The sickness is worse than last time at least I know there is only one in there!grin

DaisySwann Wed 10-Apr-13 08:41:19

Hi! May I join? I got my bfp on Monday. This is my first time and am so excited! ( we've been trying for a while).
First Dr appointment tomorrow, feeling really nervous as I don't want anything to go wrong even though it doesn't seem real yet xxx

TakingTheStairs Wed 10-Apr-13 08:46:50

Morning all,

Orbis up to 5+2 All I had was tender (large) boobs, thirstiness & tiredness, and BOOM at 5+4 the nausea kicked in. I haven't vomited properly yet but have had a bit of mouth sick a few times, but as FluffyDucky says, if this is as bad as it gets then I can cope with that smile

13 Yikes, good luck with the lunch duty. Can you chew gum while on lunch duty? I find the mint helps me.

Queen who was your consultant last time? I'm meeting with five (I know I know!) consultants this week to see who I like best to deliver Twiglet.

OrbisNonSufficit Wed 10-Apr-13 08:50:45

Thanks everyone, that makes me feel better. I think I'm 4+6 so I will enjoy the minimal symptoms while they last!

Gooseysgirl Wed 10-Apr-13 09:42:01

Just booked a private scan for Tues 23rd when we'll be 8 weeks, can't wait! Going to Fetal Medicine Centre in London, went there for early scan with DD and found them great.

TakingTheStairs Wed 10-Apr-13 09:48:02

Congratulations DaisySwann, I'm having baby #1 too and so excited. It all feels more real when a few symptoms kick in and you start to get booking in appointments etc through the post.

BTW has anybody got their little card for free dental/proscriptions yet? I've got a dental check up in a week and want to have the card by then but no sign.

harry78 Wed 10-Apr-13 11:25:13

Argh why??? Just been in a two hour standing meeting...no chairs. I ended up sitting on the floor. I don't think I could stand for two hours normally, but definitely not at the moment. Who's idea was that then huh? Think I need a lie down now...

kyz1981 Wed 10-Apr-13 12:30:02

harry78 - That sounds awful! - def relax for the rest of the day .

PistachioTruffle Wed 10-Apr-13 12:33:47

Vocalista, you get the little card when you send off a form that your midwife or GP gives to you. If you've sent it off and haven't got it yet, could you see if they'll give you a receipt and get your money back when it comes? Worth a try.

Harry I think you deserve a nap after that grin

I hate to admit this, but I have a slightly irrational fear that i'll get to the scan and they'll say there's nothing in there! despite POAS this morning again just in case and carrying a picture around on my phoneof the positive sticks to look at at will Please tell me it isn't just me?!

kyz1981 Wed 10-Apr-13 12:43:27

PistachioTruffle - I have that - I think its totally normal to feel like that- I never really relax until I can feel the baby move.

weechops Wed 10-Apr-13 13:00:59

Just back from the doctor to get the ball rolling with referring me to midwives smile I always feel a bit daft when he says ' and what can I do for you today' and I say 'im pregnant yay!' He is lovely though and was asking if Im keeping ok after the mc in January. So I should get a letter through in about 4 weeks with a booking in and scan date. Eep feels a bit more 'official' now

Ganetgob Wed 10-Apr-13 13:24:30

I'm only 4+3, so plenty of time to feel awful! I did wake up feeling dizzy this morning, but no signs of anything else.

I hope everyone else is feeling ok today though smile

Being pregnant is a bit of a distraction really - I have 120 assessments and books to mark but I keep finding things to read on the internet! Surely now is obviously the best time to read about how to wean a baby!

So, can someone enlighten me, what happens at the first doctor's appointment (got that on Wednesday) and the first appointment with the midwife?

weechops Wed 10-Apr-13 13:34:22

Ganetgob I think it differs from place to place. I'm Glasgow so the gp just asks which hospital id like to give birth in (there's 2 i could have potentially gone to) and said I'd hear from the midwives soon.
First midwife app is quite a long one for me as it includes 12 week scan and booking in together. So they take blood, weigh you, blood pressure and take all your details and give you lots of leaflets smile oh and a sample bottle to pee in before the next visit.
Some places do early booking in first though and then another app for scan at 12 weeks so yours may be different.

Ganetgob Wed 10-Apr-13 14:00:02

Thanks weechops, thats really good to know. I didn't realise it might all be different. I'm in Stourbridge in the West Midlands, so I suppose I will just have to wait and see! I'm feeling a bit nervous about it, not sure why. Sure it will be fine!

Weescottie Wed 10-Apr-13 14:10:53

Me too Pistachio - have the pic on my phone to remind me!

I'm having a bad day at work. My job is quite stressful and I just feel like I want to cry today...damn hormones. Helpful when working with a bunch of men. Think im just tired too. Can I start maternity leave now?! hmm
(Of course my productivity is helped by being on MN)

13loki Wed 10-Apr-13 14:15:28

Ganetgob In Stoke I didn't see the doctor first, I rang the surgery and they gave me the number for the community midwifery team to book myself. That was in 2010. In 2005 in Durham I went and saw the doctor and they were really dismissive "Well, that's nice, but you don't need to see a doctor, here's the midwife number, but don't bother calling for a few weeks"

Are you a teacher, too? I bought home a pile of assessments that I should have marked about 3 weeks ago for my 2 days off (I'm part-time)but I have napped both days when DD has napped. Now I will have kids whinging tomorrow.Unless I can mark a class set of two pages of notes about renewable energy choices in an hour!

PistachioTruffle Wed 10-Apr-13 14:23:36

Thanks Kyz and Weescottie, i'm glad i'm not the only one! I keep getting my phone out for another sneaky look blush.

Ganetgob Wed 10-Apr-13 14:37:50

Thanks 13loki, they seemed a bit rude! Hopefully they will be nice to me on Wednesday!

I am a teacher, I teach secondary English. I hate marking, I think it has to be the worst thing about being a teacher! Are you back at school already? I've got until Monday.

Don't mark it! Say you have left it on your dining room table by accident, I use that one all the time to give me a bit longer!

This is your third pregnancy, isn't it? How have you found teaching when pregnant in the past? I'm worried about being sick and having to leave a class and just being tired really.

I just keep telling myself that all I have to do is get through the next 6 or so weeks until exams and then it will be a bit more chilled out after that! Then back in September, and I will probably go on maternity leave at October half term because when I go back it will be a couple of weeks until the Summer holidays! Best time to have a baby, eh?

mingfudge Wed 10-Apr-13 15:01:09

Hi everyone, I am going to muscle in and join as I am five weeks pregnant today, due around the 11th December with baby number two.

[waves to everyone then goes to catch up]

LadyGranulomaFortesque Wed 10-Apr-13 15:20:32

By the way, I have name changed from mingfudge above since posting as the name wasn't nice!

yogafan Wed 10-Apr-13 16:08:31

Hello and congrats all, please can I join?

I had my GP appointment today and think I'm due 13th December. This will be baby number 2, as I already have a daughter who will be 2 in June.

Also, anyone else here with 4 yr olds who think the new baby should either sleep in the crate with Milo (our puppy) or in fish tank?

How are you guys breaking the news to the lo's? DS is definitely worried about having to share his room.

CCake79 Wed 10-Apr-13 18:25:12

Hi everyone! Just found out I'm pregnant, EDD 14th Dec. Little bit scared as had pre-eclampsia with my first baby (born healthy, but tiny and by emergency c-section). Hoping for an easier time this time round!!!

I've added myself and yogafan into the list. Apologies if I have missed anyone.

Thanks too for the warm welcome. So exciting - just wish time would fly. I felt it dragged on forever with my first.

OrbisNonSufficit Wed 10-Apr-13 18:42:09

Welcome to all the new bfps! We're quite a crowd now grin

Me too Weescottie, I had a horrible stressful day. Nearly cried about 3 times because I was angry about my bosses boss being a complete shit to me in a meeting this morning, and it turns out that being pregnant is not dissimilar to mild permanent pms re crying at things you're normally not remotely weepy about. I had another meeting with him this afternoon and I think he felt bad for being such an irrational grump because he was really nice to me. Everyone please reassure me that I'm not giving the bean a mood disorder with all of the stress!

Weescottie Wed 10-Apr-13 19:11:40

It sucks doesn't it!
Can't wait until people know I'm pregnant so at least I have an excuse, rather than them thinking I'm mad. I may have to leave my phone at home tomorrow as I'm totally distracted and constantly looking up pregnancy things I really don't need to right now!

Hi everyone can I join ?

Got my BFP last Wednesday and have been lurking for a bit and have just plucked up the courage to say hi on this thread.

EDD 13th December - Christmas is going to be a bit different this year!

This will be my second baby - have a DD who is 8 .

Still a bit wary of this whole pregnancy business as me and OH had been trying for 2 years so didn't think it would happen ! Had just been referred for testing then this BFP out of the blue!

Sorry for rambling!

Weescottie Wed 10-Apr-13 19:18:39

Welcome baby and congratulations on your BFP, sounds like it was hard won!

yogafan Wed 10-Apr-13 19:49:25

Welcome baby and horray for your bfp.

Sorry about your bad day orbis - I get weepy at the silliest things at the mo, but it sounds like you had every right to be angry. I'm sure our beans are too busy (and small) to do anything other than develop placenta etc, no likelihood whatsoever for thinking about mood disorders!

Thanks for adding us to the list ladyg - my last pregnancy felt like the world's most excruciating long wait. I hope I can relax and enjoy this one a bit more... That said, the past week has been hilarious - I got my bfp on April Fools Day, went to the doctor a few days later and got 2 negatives (as it was so early). I had to wait another week for a second appointment (today) and thankfully got bfp. Phew!

It's starting to sink in a bit now, but would kind of like to tell a few people to make it feel more real.

harry78 Wed 10-Apr-13 20:31:14

Hello and congratulations everyone who's joined in the last few days flowers

MildredH Wed 10-Apr-13 20:38:10

Congrats & welcome to new members.. We're really growing in numbers! grin

Bluegh.. Nausea central still here. Really fancied Chinese so persuaded DH we should have an impromptu date night- it's all sitting very heavy in my stomach now..

harry78 Wed 10-Apr-13 20:53:23

I'm doing ok on the nausea ATM, although some smells are turning my tummy

FluffyDucky Wed 10-Apr-13 21:49:09

Omg Orbis you just reminded me of a day at work last week where I got my self more & more wound up by the second, damn mood swings! I work in a well known high street chemist, I thought I was going to scream with silly questions! shock

harry78 Wed 10-Apr-13 22:15:29

I'm with you orbis I couldn't find my phone tonight and had a complete meltdown...not very rational blush

PistachioTruffle Wed 10-Apr-13 22:16:31

I accused DH of farting earlier, it turns out it was the cold cooked chicken he was eating that I could smell blush

FluffyDucky Wed 10-Apr-13 23:03:54

I know fit many of us it is early days & it wont be for a number of weeks until a bump starts to show, but has anyone got an idea of when to start using cream/bio oil etc.. on their tummys &/or boobs?

FluffyDucky Wed 10-Apr-13 23:04:18

For not fit sorry, posting from my phone!

harry78 Thu 11-Apr-13 07:22:46

Lol*pistachio*!

featherbag Thu 11-Apr-13 08:07:55

Fluffy, I used Bio-oil twice a day when I remembered from 12 weeks last time and have not one stretch mark! And I'm probe to them too, have them all over from massive weight gain/loss over the years.

I found out yesterday I have an interview for my dream job! I applied for it before I became pregnant, but being NHS it's taking a very long time for anything to happen. I'm now desperately hoping HR pulls their finger out so I'm not doing my presentation with a massive bump! I started to show at 8 weeks last time, by 14 it was bloody obvious. I feel guilty (slightly) still going for it as I know how overworked the existing staff are, and it's not the sort of job that can easily be covered by a temp (in fact it can't be), but I'll only be gone 6 months and this is MY job!!!

yogafan Thu 11-Apr-13 08:21:57

That's amazing featherbag - good luck! Don't feel guilty, I'm sure it's your dream job 'cos you'd be brilliant at it, they need you. Great news x

impatienttobemummy Thu 11-Apr-13 08:24:51

My due date in 4th Dec baby number 2! Is anyone else expecting 2nd baby and already showing?!

featherbag Thu 11-Apr-13 08:26:05

Thank you, I'm so chuffed!

Ganetgob Thu 11-Apr-13 09:26:38

I have a burning question for you all. I've just got dressed (love the school holidays!) and it made me wonder about when I need to start wearing non wire bras.

Is anyone wearing them already? When should I start? Are there any nice ones out there which don't cost the earth?

Thanks grin

impatienttobemummy Thu 11-Apr-13 09:51:09

Ganetgob I didn't wear wireless bras until the last month but I'm small chested anyway

TakingTheStairs Thu 11-Apr-13 10:38:50

Fluffy I'm already using Clarins Stretch Mark cream! Though mainly because DH bought it for me .. and not in a nasty way! I said I wanted it and he surprised me with it.
Is anyone else putting on weight already?

featherbag Thu 11-Apr-13 11:24:20

I've actually lost weight, my appetite is tiny! Under no illusions that this will continue however, although I hope I don't put the 3 stone on I've spent a year losing after last time!

Gooseysgirl Thu 11-Apr-13 11:48:32

I used bio oil religiously last pregnancy and I didn't get any stretch marks but my mum never got any in three pregnancies and says its genetic!! Nipple itch has returned confused

MildredH Thu 11-Apr-13 11:52:57

My weight is static but like you feather I'm definitely eating less. Think the calories I'd usually be drinking in my nightly glass of wine will contribute too!

Expect this will not stay the case though.. I'm only 5'2" so entirely expect to look like an oompah loompah later on!

harry78 Thu 11-Apr-13 11:53:49

I'm surprised that I've lost a pound too. I was thinking about this this morning, my BMI is about 26 and ive worked hard to get it down to this, and I wonder whether the nurse will have something to say about me being overweight. Does anyone else have experience?

LadyMedea Thu 11-Apr-13 11:55:34

So I've cracked and told work. Just told the other managers I work with and share an office with and our boss. Since the sickness and tiredness kicked in on Monday I knew it was going to be very obvious. 6 weeks is early to tell but then they would have guessed anyway and I would tell them if I had a miscarriage so it didn't seem a bad idea. They are all lovely ladies and were very pleased for me.

Also cracked and told my Mum. I love my Mum dearly and she is 100% supportive of me except in the area of having kids, as she's always worried because I have ME/CFS. I got the reaction I was expecting 'if you're happy we're happy'.... I'm sure it will get more positive as it goes along.

Waiting to tell MIL (who is lovely and will be over the moon) as SIL had DC no 2 yesterday (shoulder distocia - ow! - baby ok) so we are just waiting for the dust to settle.

my sis and a couple of my very close friends also know but that will be it until 12 week scan.

So who have you told so far?

harry78 Thu 11-Apr-13 11:57:33

Just my Mom and Dad and my MIL... but then I'm only 4+3

MildredH Thu 11-Apr-13 12:08:46

We've told both sets of parents and my two best friends- mostly because they've been so supportive following last mc & during the TTC process I couldn't pretend we were still trying!

Oh, and almost everyone at work only through necessity.

Will be doing my best not to tell anyone else before 12 weeks.. Told a lot of people last time and although lots of people were supportive when we had the mc- it involved a lot of un-telling and then lots of 'are you pregnant again yet' in the 15 months since!

Ganetgob Thu 11-Apr-13 12:43:00

Thanks impatient! I'm kind of average in the boob department so I'll just see how I go I think!

I don't think we are going to tell anyone until after the first scan. Neither set of parents know we were ttc and I'm feeling nervous about something going wrong so I don't want to jinx it. (I know that's silly!)

I'm also a bit worried about my friends who know we were ttc asking me if I'm pregnant. I don't want to say no (again, my superstitious mind!) but I'm not sure what else I can say without them knowing. Any advice?

Leonas Thu 11-Apr-13 12:50:40

I've just managed to get my first ante-natal appointment after waiting 3 days for the hospital to do the 'official' pregnancy test - baby number one for me so I have no idea what I am doing or what to expect!
Feel pretty good apart from nausea when travelling by bus the other day - never been travel sick before but after having to get 4 buses to visit my dad I felt horrendous!
Not told anyone yet, thinking of telling mums this weekend and I might tell work when I go back on Monday as I am a teacher and we are at the time of year when timetables are being organised so it is a good time to tell my boss I think! One of my colleagues is due back from mat leave around the time I will be going off so it might work out quite well for us both - maybe too good to be true though!

TakingTheStairs Thu 11-Apr-13 13:18:14

I've told my boss in work so that I could have a bit of flexibility for consultant appointments and leaving early if the nausea got too bad.
But not telling either parents until almost the 12 week mark. My Mum wouldn't be able to keep it a secret (out of excitement)

b0nker5Mum Thu 11-Apr-13 13:22:18

We intend to keep it a secret for as long as possible, just my partner and daughter know at the moment... We are staying with my parents at the mo tho so depending on symptoms we might have to let them know...

I'm feeling like I am hungry but don't really fancy anything... You know when you get past the hunger pains... I only slept for about an hour on and off last night tho so exhausted today and not functioning properly!!!

How are you all?

QueenofWhispers Thu 11-Apr-13 13:52:43

I'm against wire bras since sunday.

I have a bad feeling, I gained a ridiculous amount of weight last time and wasn't ever able to get back to my normal self. I honestly hope I don't gain any extra weight this time.

weechops Thu 11-Apr-13 13:54:55

I feel absolutely great apart from really tender boobs. ( and a gum abcess which I can't take anything for gah)

I told my dad because his health is awful and hes in a care home and I thought it would give him a wee boost, which it has smile and I've told 4 of my close friends.

Dh wants to wait til the 12 week scan to tell everyone else and that's fine. I think ;)

weechops Thu 11-Apr-13 14:02:15

Queen I know how you feel. When I was pg with dd I was a size 10. I put on 2 stone and ended up size 14. Not toooo bad. Then pg with ds I put on 4 1/2 stone! Ended up really wobbly size 16. I lost 3 stone sloooowwwly and finally got rid of the last stone this month smile so I'm going to be really careful with my diet this time and hope for the best. To be honest I'm not really that bothered how I look as the children are so so worth it smile

Gooseysgirl Thu 11-Apr-13 14:06:58

Leonas I am also a teacher and I have told our head... I told him just as early last time, he was very supportive and also appreciative of having the chance to think ahead from a staffing point of view. I was upfront with him and told him we were hoping for DC2 before too long so it hasn't come as a surprise to him! But he is the kind of head you can trust with this sort of information... DH told his two brothers in a drunken moment last weekend, I was sooo cross with him as I wanted our parents to be first to know grrrrr

QueenofWhispers Thu 11-Apr-13 14:16:33

I went from a size 8 to a 14 last time and I'm still a 14. sad I have two really gorgeous skinny (both double 0's) sisters and I hate being the big one.

It's my Birthday today grin I feel sick as a pig angry but that's ok, I can deal so Long as I'm not actually sick.

QueenofWhispers Thu 11-Apr-13 14:27:39

QNinja

you seem familiar. Were you also on the Due Sept 2008 antenatal thread?

Olive2012 Thu 11-Apr-13 14:29:34

Hi everyone and congratulations to you all! I just got a bfp last night (after the exhaustion tipped me off) and all feels very surreal at the moment!! This is our first and we were trying for about 6 months but as I have a history of endometriosis thought it would take a while. Am very excited but also quite nervous. I went to see the Gp today who referred me to the local NHs hospital but she said they wouldn't contact me for an antenatal appointment until I was 10 weeks (I'm currently 5) which I thought was quite strange. Is this normal, should I have an early scan?

yogafan Thu 11-Apr-13 15:07:29

Happy birthday ninja and welcome olive

Not sure when you're meant to have first appointment, I'm seeing midwife (at gp surgery) at 8 weeks and hospital scan at 12 weeks. 10 weeks does sound like a long wait, do you know if it's for midwife or scan? If it is for midwife maybe ask to bring it forward a couple of weeks?

I've just told my best friend as she was with me at a hen do over the weekend, so helped me disguise the fact I wasn't drinking. Would like to tell my sister soon (and will have to in a couple if weeks at least as I'm hoping she'll look after DD for antenatal appointments...)

Have a good sick free day everyone! I was sick (proper vom) every day for about 7 months with DD - very relieved it hasn't hit me this time round. Yet...

No queen, I don't think I was on mumsnet then.
Thanks yogafan

Olive2012 Thu 11-Apr-13 15:32:08

Thanks yogafan and happy birthday ninja. It's for the booking appointment (inc scan) so perhaps that's why? One thing im already not looking forward to is the morning sickness/nausea!

I'm also planning on telling my best friend and sister - my mum like yours takingthestairs would get too excited!

I've told loads of people already. My mum, sister, pil, bil and sils, 5 friends and dh has told his best mate. I'm terrible grin

PistachioTruffle Thu 11-Apr-13 16:09:57

I got two moulded tshirt bras without wires at primark yesterday for £6, as the wires on my normal bras were digging in and making the discomfort even worse! They feel very supportive and comfy, I doubt they'll last long as they're snug already but I can't complain for £6.

I've got the 'hungry but don't fancy anything' thing too.

LadyGranulomaFortesque Thu 11-Apr-13 17:22:04

Congrats on your BFP Olive, and welcome :-)

Nausea wise I am surprised I am okay so far, although only five and a bit weeks. With my son I was sick as a dog from the week before BFP at four weeks to 22 weeks :-( It was bloody awful. Literally like a five month hangover and did make me delay DC2 for a while so I could forget about it enough.

With my first pregnancy, the only thing that would stop me feeling sick was cheesy garlic bread, cookie dough ice cream and sweeties. I put on four and a half stone! I lost three and a half, then put a half back on, so I am one stone up from before my first pregnancy. After I had DS I had a postpartum thyroid issue and the first two stones fell off. If i refrain from putting on too much weight this time and then get my temporary dodgy thyroid back I could be a supermodel by next January lol.

My appetite is also dead int he water by the way. I keep thinking I should eat some kind of crap but I really can't face it. I also don't think this stage will last long either.

Are those Primark bras any good for very ample bossoms, Pistachio? (we're talking F cup here blush)

QueenofWhispers Thu 11-Apr-13 18:04:29

i want battered cod and caper filled tartar sauce....and steamed veg

weechops Thu 11-Apr-13 18:27:10

Just had a bowl of cheerios for dinner as I couldnt face anything else. My fridge and cupboards are stocked full of food and I just didn't fancy any of it.

Oh and Happy Birthday Ninja !! smile

PistachioTruffle Thu 11-Apr-13 18:31:54

Lady, I'm honestly not sure, I normally wear a 32D (or occasionally a 34C in some designs), and from what I can remember I think they only did them in a small range of sizes, I don't think I'll be able to buy any more if they get any bigger hmm

I think M&S do something similar too, if that's an option?

F stands for Fabulous btw grin

PistachioTruffle Thu 11-Apr-13 18:32:32

Oh yeah, Happy Birthday Ninja!

Leonas Thu 11-Apr-13 19:02:06

Happy birthday ninja! Gooseysgirl, I think I will tell my boss ASAP - he has only been the head got 3 weeks now so don't want to make things too awkward for him!
Anyone else just feelings a biter spacey? Feel kind of floaty and occasionally pukey but unfortunately eating seems to help! Have just lost over a stone at SlimmingWorld, have a feeling it won't take long to creep back on!

harry78 Thu 11-Apr-13 19:21:53

Happy birthday ninja flowers

Weescottie Thu 11-Apr-13 19:40:44

Leonas that sounds exactly how I feel. I almost feel like when you've been on a boat or train too long and you can still feel the movement afterwards. Makes me feel a little nauseous but not too bad. Only seems to affect me in afternoon/evening. Anyone else find this?

Happy birthday Ninja! flowers

FluffyDucky Thu 11-Apr-13 19:45:19

Olive, I am also 5 weeks and have my booking in appointment for when I will be 8 weeks at the GP surgery. I think it depends on where you live.

I was getting dressed this morning and was like, Oh HELLO GIRLS! Definitely fuller and a little bigger. One of my work tops is close fitting, taking it off was interesting lol

b0nker5Mum Thu 11-Apr-13 19:59:49

Happy birthday ninja...

Happy birthday Ninja thanks

So nervous about scan tomorrow, hopefully all will be well and then I can start to relax a bit, tomorrows going to go so slowly at work!

bleugh

Serious vom fest here .

I didn't have any symptoms with DD so was hoping for none this time but I seem to have them all!

My boobs are like rocks and my nipples are constantly erect and sore !! Anyone else have that? Ouchie!!

harry78 Thu 11-Apr-13 20:12:27

Good luck for scan clare. flowers

Iris1 Thu 11-Apr-13 20:44:02

Hi everyone.
Congrats on all the new BFP.
I think I feel ok, not sick but a bit dizzy here and there. Im lucky to have never had morning sickness with older two so hooe I escape it again. I am tired though constantly. Im glad though id be panicking otherwise as I only miscarried 6 weeks ago.
I have no idea how pregnant I am as I haven't had a period since so who knows.

Feels a bit too good to be true, gonna take a clear blue digital over the weekend and see if it puts my mind at rest.

I will also be seeing a midwife late on. Because of he hospital ive chosen the community midwives wont see me as they don't refer to it so I have to get the gp to do the referal. I cant get a gp appointment for another two weeks so I could be about 7 weeks before the referal is even made so I dunno when ill see he midwives. Im gonna emphasise my nerves over the mc to the gp though and hopefully they will get me seen quickly.

As for telling people we have told my mum and dad and thats it. Not planning on telling anyone else any time soon. We are in an awkward situation though as DH sister (who is also a v good friend of mine) has just had an ectopic after a previous miscarriage at xmas. We have decided she should be the next to know but only when we think she can cope ok with the news- so we are quite prepared to keep it secret until about 15/16 weeks - I hope I can keep ot under wraps! Eek.

Hope everyone feeling rubbish feels better soon.

Thanks for the happy birthdays guys, hope no one is feeling too sick. I've got some crackers by my bed in case I wake in the night see if that helps.
I hope you do get an appointment quickly iris, it mus be worrying when you've miscarried before. Got everything crossed for you x

Ganetgob Fri 12-Apr-13 00:18:14

I'm sorry to hear that lots of people are having a rough time and feeling ill. I hope this passes quickly for you.

I still feel pretty much ok, I just have terrible wind (tmi) and I can't sleep - my mind just won't turn off the baby stuff!

Wishing you a happy and nausea-free Friday! grin

yogafan Fri 12-Apr-13 07:44:43

Welcome and congrats iris, hope you get an early appointment to reassure you.

OrbisNonSufficit Fri 12-Apr-13 07:52:41

Happy birthday Ninja!
Hope the scan goes well clare
iris absolutely put on a performance re your mc, they can't just leave you hanging with no care in that situation.
baby speaking as someone who has more or less permanently erect nipples normally, padded bras are key - stops them rubbing so much, they can poke a little dent in the padding iyswim.

And I hope the nausea settles soon for just about everyone else. I'm 5+1 today (I think), convinced it's going to hit me too soon! I am finding that I wake up at 6am every day though, which is weird (normally 'as late as possible' is when I get up)- DH thinks it's because I'm having 1 cup of coffee a day not 5 and hence am actually sleeping properly. Who knows?

harry78 Fri 12-Apr-13 08:17:10

Hey orbis I'm waking at 6.45 which like you is very out of character. Normally I'm woken by the alam and press snooze countless times!

featherbag Fri 12-Apr-13 08:38:39

I think your body tries to prepare you for baby by waking you early - with DS (18mo), 6am is normal, 7am is a lie-in, and this morning I won the lottery - 6.15 in his own bed, then til 8am with cuddles in our bed!

featherbag Fri 12-Apr-13 08:39:45

Having said that, I have such achy joints at the minute I've been woken by them at least hourly, have to change position or it's agony!

harry78 Fri 12-Apr-13 08:41:48

Does anyone else's symptoms seem to come and go? Seem days I feel knackered, others I'm fine. Seem days my boobs hurrrrrt, others they feel normal. What do you think?

I'm pretty much constantly nauseous Harry, and constantly knackered. It eases slightly with eating but its still there all the time. Still not been sick though so I am keeping my fingers crossed on that one.

Weescottie Fri 12-Apr-13 09:46:47

My symptoms come and go as well Harry. Not sure if it depends how tired I am or something.

AirDuster Fri 12-Apr-13 10:23:52

Symptoms: a tad light-headed, tender bbs, slight appetite loss & swollen stomach. Only 5+2 though so nausea may come shortly.

Was diagnosed with endometriosis & adenomyosis some months ago - have really noticed absence of back pain etc now. It's a relief too not to have anxiety over infertility at the back of my mind (though obviously it's early days). So actually feel better overall!

Am also sleeping & waking earlier - Orbis' DH probably on to sthg regarding lack of coffee - & evening wine too in my case.

violetbean Fri 12-Apr-13 11:30:03

Hey guys,

I'm pretty new here. Had a bfp on Wednesday (yay!) and 2 tests came up positive (first response and clear blue digital which said 1-2 weeks). Today I went to my GP and saw one of the young doctors (inexperienced) and he tested my pee with 3 tests and he said they were all negative. He showed me them but I couldn't fathom where the lines were supposed to be on the test strips - very confusing! Then I came home and did another first response test and it was definitely positive (2nd line started showing up after less than a minute).

I haven't had a period since February so am pretty confused! I guess there might be a few explanations:
(a) his test isn't as sensitive as mine
(b) he was reading the test wrong
(c) he didn't wait long enough for the result to show up
(d) I'm not pregnant? confused

Anyways, I have booked an appointment with very experienced GP for Tuesday so will see what happens then. Please keep fingers crossed for me! Advice welcome.

Violetbean xx

TakingTheStairs Fri 12-Apr-13 12:03:08

Violet Chances are that you are pregnant, it's rare to get a false positive, but can easily get a false negative, so I'd say his test just wasn't as sensitive (and nothing to do with his experience!)

yogafan Fri 12-Apr-13 12:27:31

That happened to me violet - GP tests are less sensitive than first response etc. my GP did two, both negative, I went back a week later and got positive. It's a bit unnerving though isn't it! I did a couple (or maybe 3....) tests just to check in between appointments. Try not to worry about it, and congratulations!

harry78 Fri 12-Apr-13 12:35:23

Bleurgh...gosh I feel icky today! Just going to try lunch and see if that helps.

On the subject of doctors, is it the norm to go and get the test confirmed? I haven't done that yet...

MildredH Fri 12-Apr-13 12:43:10

Me too Harry.. I know lunch will probably help but I'm still in my pj's (blush) and the thought of showering, dressing and making something puts me off!

It's exactly like a hangover for me - but without the preceding fun! ( well, I guess we had a different type of fun!).

Thinking about trying some kind of ginger based remedy- ? Ginger tea, ? Ginger biscuits.. Has anyone had any joy?

13loki Fri 12-Apr-13 13:26:08

Hi all. Happy birthday ninja

Arrrrgh! Today I did lunch duty on my own. It was taco day, an I spent the first 15 minutes alone, patrolling the lunch hall and trying not to be sick. Then 5 minutes before I was due to finish, another teacher came and yelled at me in front of all the kids because apparently I wasn't letting the kids in fast enough. So I just walked off, went found DH (we work together) locked myself in a classroom a nd swore and cried. He then told the boss in charge of lunch duties, who nicely offered me cover for the rest of the day. I stupidly said I was fine. Who gives up the chance of a free? I think I might have to tell him that I am pg, I normally would just get angry, not burst into tears. Now I have a headache from crying and I look a mess. And I still feel like vomiting.

kyz1981 Fri 12-Apr-13 13:31:06

Mildred - Ginger makes it worse for me, the only thing I find helps are things like nuts, popcorn anything bland - I struggle with crackers as I find them a bit too dry- the only other things I find good are lemonade, or fizzy water - TBH I find drinking harder than eating atm.

13loki - that sounds horrible - glad you had your DH for support.

harry78 Fri 12-Apr-13 13:31:41

Hmm...lunch helped but problem is knowing when to stop eating! Ginger should definitely help mildred

harry78 Fri 12-Apr-13 13:32:13

Problem I've found with ginger is it gives me heartburn

MildredH Fri 12-Apr-13 13:47:26

Ooh popcorn is a good suggestion.. I think pret do savoury ones..

True about ginger = heartburn although I have a trusty bottle of gaviscon at the bedside already as dinner tends to gurgle a bit when I lie down for bed no matter how early I've eaten..

Planning to trial a salad for lunch.. Been avoiding it so far but will end up looking like a potato if I have a 5th lunch of jacket potato this week!!

13loki- I can't believe your colleague would be so unprofessional esp in front of kids you teach.. At least it's Friday grin.

violetbean Fri 12-Apr-13 14:01:46

13loki, sorry to hear you are not feeling well and about your awful colleague. shock Hope the rest of the afternoon goes ok. brew

Thanks for the support yogafan and takingthestairs, good to know it's not just me and there's a chance it'll be positive when I go back on Tues. Probably I was being unfair judging the GP by his experience. I just know he's a trainee and the person I usually try to see has 25+ years' experience - but you're right it probably wouldn't make the slightest bit of difference in this case since pregnancy testing presumably isn't a skill that's honed by years of practice... grin

harry78 Fri 12-Apr-13 14:17:38

Fingers crossed for you violet

yogafan Fri 12-Apr-13 14:36:59

That sounds rubbish 13loki, hope you have a good weekend to make up for work stress.
Violet - a better Doctor might have known to reassure you that you prob are preg rather than just ask you to read the negative test for yourself!

I starting to struggle with food. Have gone completely off choc and sweet stuff which is probably a good thing. Was at the shops today and started to feel so sick and I had to have a KFC and a coke right then! Which helped but I only ever drink water and never drink fizzy drinks! I couldn't drink water at all when pregnant with ds as it made me throw up, drank milkshake for the first half and then orange juice. Guess its going the same way again.ive got some ginger ale in the fridge and bought some coke for when thats finished blush my teeth are gonna be shot by the time the baby's here!

Oh and meant to say that have out those travel sickness acupuncture bands on and it seems to have worked! Nausea has eased up and now just feel hungry. So that's good.

StyleManual Fri 12-Apr-13 16:17:38

Hi all! Can I join you? I just got my bfp yesterday. Due date something like 14th Dec I think. I phoned up the midwife today to book an appointment. I couldn't believe how soon I have to go. I've got an innitial app next week and then a proper booking in app at 8 weeks. I had forgotten how quick the 1st trimester goes by! Anyway, hi, and look forward to getting to know you all!

DaisySwann Fri 12-Apr-13 16:25:27

Hi all!

Saw my gp and am nearly five weeks. This is my first pregnancy and my due date is 15th Dec - am so excited!

Quick question - is it normal to feel so bloated so early? I feel huuuuuge! Was there anything that helped you with this?

Love to all xxx

Weescottie Fri 12-Apr-13 16:43:38

Congrats on the positives flowers

I find a bowl of fruit and fibre/all bran helps a bit, and lots of water!

TakingTheStairs Fri 12-Apr-13 16:43:52

Hi all.

I spent yesterday feeling horrific but it's not as bad today thank goodness. Ninja I've gone off chocolate and sweet things too! I used to love my coke zero, didn't drink tea or coffee so it was my only caffeine but now the thought of it turns my stomach. I have Easter eggs in the cupboard and very nice chocolates that DH bought me for my birthday on Sunday just sitting there. Normally I'd inhale them!
Though the dizziness stopped when the nausea arrived this week so that's at least one good thing.
Early scan on Monday!! so excited!!

Feel sick as a dog, and oh my god THE SMELLS, THE SMELLS!!! (Quasimodo style). Just nearly vommed walking past the chippy hmm

Leonas Fri 12-Apr-13 17:16:33

We are going to a wedding tomorrow and I just tried on the dress I had planned to wear and it looks awful! Not sure if I am bloated or if i have just been a pig over my 2 weeks off work but I have had to very quickly rethink my outfit - oops!
Planning on telling my mum tonight - quite nervous! I am 31 but I feel like a 15 yr old having to confess to being naughty- eek! Xx

TryDrawing Fri 12-Apr-13 18:05:32

Well I'm glad to see a few other people saying the same because... I feel dreadful. Really sick and the room is spinning. I've spent most of the past 24hrs in bed. I don't remember feeling this bad last time.

Waiting to hear about a booking in appointment and have my fingers crossed for an early scan.

MildredH Fri 12-Apr-13 18:13:14

Trydrawing- I'm glad other people are saying the same otherwise I'd feel just like I was being a bit of a pathetic pansy!

FluffyDucky Fri 12-Apr-13 19:29:18

I had a strange lusting for cheese this afternoon! Just had a couple of cubes and crackers, ohhh it was soo good!
Definitely going to need to start wearing my maternity bra, nearly spilling out of my work one now grr

harry78 Fri 12-Apr-13 19:34:09

Hmm went to the hairdressers tonight and she commented that I was loosing more hair during washing than I normally do. Anyone heard of this?

LadyMedea Fri 12-Apr-13 19:43:48

Have my first food completely off my list - Singapore noodles - did not stay down sad. Yesterday was a bad day.

I'm working on plain giant pretzel crisp thingies and crackers at the moment. Not very incognito in meetings but better than just sitting there turning green.

Will drag myself to debenhams for bigger bras tomorrow as the girls are huge!

On grants and welcome stylemanual. So many of usnow!
Featherbag the smells are getting me too. Have told dh he's gotta give up coffee and beer, food and anything else that is making his breath stink from a mile away
Still haven't been sick yet and I am definitely gong off water. Not making me sick yet but think I'm gonna have to find some alternatives quick. Stupid pregnancy hormones love them really as it means everything ok but urgh am reminded why I hated being pregnant

featherbag Fri 12-Apr-13 20:33:08

I think I'm out. Mild cramping, then huge gush of bright red blood and a familiar piece of tissue (I've seen many MC in my job). Still bleeding but pain not too bad. Feel numb.

So sorry for those of you with bleeding, it's awful the just having to wait with nothing you can do sad

I had an early miscarriage in January so this time got referred for a reassurance scan. All I could see was a blob, but was assured that everything was as it should be. Was told that looked about 6 and a half weeks, which was slightly less than the dates according to LMP which would have made me 7 + 2 but that wasn't unexpected as I have a longer than average cycle.

The only down side is that they've booked my 12 week scan for 2 days after I get back from a big family holiday. Realistically there's no way I can keep it a secret (I'll be rumbled within about 10 minutes when I refuse the first offer of a wine) guess I'll just have to keep everything crossed that my scan is fine and I won't have to 'untell' everyone.
