Just starting a new thread as we're starting to run out of room on the first. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/a1716486-December-2013#38680515

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

You may have a kidney/UTI infection if you're site it's coming from your wee late. Worth getting checked out. Do you have any other symptoms? And are you drinking enough?

Zebedee Re: bleeding on my scan yesterday I apparently had what looked like a patch of fluid/blood nowhere nearvthe baby which I was told might be absorbed or might not, but if there was some brown blood not to worry so it could be something like that. Also your cervix changes very rapidly and can be a bit fragile when you have sex so again it may just be that.

Thinking of you clare. Really hope everything's ok.

queen I'd be a bit surprised if they did give results over the phone tbh, especially something like this which requires interpretation - it's not a yea/nay answer.

frouby you made me laugh there! I'm not surprised they haven't called back Wink

I don't know if we'll find out! I think DH quite wants to but I think it's one of the few real unknowns in the world so I'm not sure. On the other hand I want to get knitting!!!!

We are having name issues. Can't use the name we like for DS as a girl because it sounds very similar to his. DH likes Prudence and Ottilie. I like Adeline, Adelaide and Leonore at the moment. He wants Emmanuel/lle in there somewhere if babe ends up arriving on Christmas Day. Possibly Victor for a boy, but I really like Clement too.... It'll all have changed by next week!

LateBloomer414 · 28/05/2013 15:06

zebedeeandthefunbags what do you mean by vits? this is my first so I'm still getting up to speed on the pg lingo Blush

Nom - hadn't thought about a UTI, it's a possibility. I am drinking tons of water, peeing a lot but that's nothing new as I've a bladder the size of a peanut, and don't feel any other symptoms. I'm just relieved it hasn't progressed to a bleed. yet. I'm going to see how it goes over night and if it's still there tomorrow I'll ring the EPU.

as for finding out - Hubby wants to know, I do not. I feel really old fashioned about it for some reason. It just feels like one of life's ultimate surprises and I'd be thrilled with a boy or a girl so it doesn't matter to me to know now. He bought a book of baby names for our anniversary which was very sweet!

clare8allthepies · 28/05/2013 15:25

Thank you all so much for the kind thoughts Thanks just reading them while I was waiting for scan just about set me off again Blush
Thankfully everything is fine, good strong heartbeat, now feel like I was making a big fuss over nothing!

yogafan · 28/05/2013 15:32

latebloomer - by vits she means vitamins - are you taking a supplement? Some make your wee orange/darker/different!

zebedee it's so hard not to worry, but good that you've been on bed rest (although not keeping busy can make me really focus on worries and get super anxious...) - I had bright red blood after sex when preg with DD and was terrified. All I wanted to do was be scanned, reassured, then spend the rest if the pregnancy protected in bed (and not having sex!) As it was I was on holiday in Scotland to visit an austere relation who wouldn't have stood for me being as sekd protective as I wanted to be, and served up rare venison knowing I was preg. I asked for a cooked but from the side and she obviously thought I was the most uptight preggo ever. I digress massively, but I mean to say it really prob is nothing, but totally normal to be anxious. Sounds like you've had lots on besides, so do what you can to look after yourself so you feel safe and protected.

We're not going to find out the sex, I secretly wanted a girl last time and it was the best surprise ever when DD was born. Would be equally thrilled with either this time round, and so loved the surprise last time. We've still got a couple of names that could be recycled from DD's list - Leonard for a boy, Matilda for a girl - although I know that has been very very popular recently. Lots of time to agonise and come up with a totally new list.

yogafan · 28/05/2013 15:36

Oh congrats clare that is great. So good you went in to check, defo the right thing to do.

Forgot to say nom I love your list if names! Otteline and Adelaide were on DD's list

  • might need to add them this time round too. However, despite being up for a surprise, I have convinced myself it's a boy this time round, as the pregnancy feels so different. We'll just have to wait and see...
zebedeeandthefunbags · 28/05/2013 16:11

Thanks all, great news @Clare too. I'm on half term and my and OH were going to go swimming (I havent been exercising at all) and then go look at baby stuff. Instead I've intermittently stressed while looking at stuff online lying on sofa. Being seen Fri. xx

PistachioTruffle · 28/05/2013 17:58

Ooh, you lot have been busy nattering! Wink

Feather, I hope you and your DH have a lovely scan, you certainly deserve it after these last few weeks!

I hope everyone who is having a worrying time gets some reassurance soon Flowers

We have decided we are going to find out the sex if possible, after years of me saying I wouldn't! I really want to be organised and prepared and have the room and everything ready, and DH desperately wants to know.
We are having some trouble with names though. I like verity and emmeline for a girl, and DH isn't keen on either. DH likes Samuel and Leah, which are both lovely but I'm not 100% in love with. Decisions decisions!

ccsays · 28/05/2013 18:27

I love Verity and Emmeline, pistachio. Seriously considered Emmeline myself mostly because is one of my favourite songs Smile

Alyssa1978 · 28/05/2013 18:38

Hi mumto2boys

I found out the sex with my 2 boys but we are going to wait with this one, although we are thinking of asking the midwife to write down the sex and seal it in an envelope, so if we decide later we would like to know then we still can.

Had my scan today and I'm 4 days ahead of what I thought, so I'm 13 weeks and 1 day and due December 2nd Smile

FluffyDucky · 28/05/2013 19:13

I initially didn't want to know but husband does, we have agreed we will find out but keep it a secret.
Names, finding girls names harder than boys! For a boy we like Murray and Daniel (probs have Daniel as a middle name) and possibly Emily for a girl.
Scan tomorrow, nervous but excited!

lisbapalea · 28/05/2013 20:33

I am probably being totally silly, but am getting paranoid that I might have twins in my belly! I haven't had any sickness symptoms, but just did some searches on mumsnet and seems that sickness isn't a given with twins.

I have been crazy tired, and hormonal, but I thought that was just normal pregnancy stuff, but am now definitely sporting a bump, at just 10 weeks! I am sure with DD I didn't show until about 16weeks, but maybe I am remembering incorrectly?

I know I am overweight anyway (prob by 1.5-2st pre-pregnancy), but this bump is discernible as a bump, not just general fatness if that makes sense. Can a bump be visible this early with a solo pregnancy?

We do have twins in our family - my Mum's sisters are non-identical twins, so if this has happened then it would be the cliche of skipping a generation from my grandma to me.

I would be freaked out but would also love it if it was true, even if it would mean total chaos and re-thinking lots of stuff with regards to our house etc and how much money we need for childcare etc - aaargh, just thinking about it makes my brain hurt!

Hmmm, maybe I am just overthinking and I am bloated in a bump-shaped way!! No scan until 17 June (although I have left a message asking for it to be brought forward), so I need to be kept in suspense for a bit longer!

Is anyone else fretting about twins?!

yogafan · 28/05/2013 20:54

I am totally fretting about twins! I have been wearing over the bump maternity leggings for weeks now, and look 4 months preg at least. The rest of me is the same, just a massive bloated belly. I have heard that sending pregnancies show WAY earlier than first, so it could just be that. My scan is Thursday - will let you know!

yogafan · 28/05/2013 20:55

Second pregnancies!

QueenofWhispers · 28/05/2013 20:58

Any Americans on our thread? I have a baby passport question.

So I'm now thinking about having bean in Texas to be closer to my parents. (Mom is a doctor and wants to keep an eye on me because I had pre-eclampsia last time)---I've also realised it's much cheaper to have baby in Texas than here...but since I'm American and I'll be having baby in Texas it'll be easier to have baby fly back with an American passport rather than go to british embassy and wait around...but I'm being told by Mom that passport will still take 6 weeks.

I never gave DS an American Passport because he's entitled to one and I felt like I could get him one whenever. Also, because we are a certain ethnic minority in India we would cause a lot more attention with American Passports compared with British passports (which is good, because whenever we now travel to India only I'm questioned for hours at a time and DS and DH can at least check into hotel and wait for me in comfort)...but now I'm wondering if I should just bite the bullet and make sure DS and bean both have US passports. blagh.

in other news, I got a tin of bens cookies today. :)

*i live such a boring life

lisbapalea · 28/05/2013 21:18

Thanks yogafan glad it's not just me fretting about a double whammy! Good luck with the scan on Thurs and keep us posted!

NomDeClavier · 28/05/2013 23:07

Well I don't have a specifically American response to that question but DS has every passport he's entitled to, as do I (and I'll be adding to my collection shortly, as will DH). So I would get the baby both passports Queen. If your DH is British can you naturalise to avoid the questioning?

I think the rules around passing on American and British nationality are broadly similar so it's not like being one being BCD and one being ACD is going to limit their children's options as both are limited. In fact it's probably easier to naturalise BCD if you think it's necessary. As long a you have the birth cert and proof of DH'a nationality you shouldn't have any issues coming back to the UK either.

I was freaking out about twins but only the one in there. I've come to the conclusion that fecked abs make the bloat more bump shaped as I'm obviously not showing when I'm not bloated!

Glad everything okay clare

And whoever it is with a potentially Verity I love that name!!!

Alyssa1978 · 28/05/2013 23:16

fluffyducky
My sons middle name is Daniel,
I have a Lucas, Daniel,
And a Logan, James.
If this one is a boy, I did like Leighton but we are now swaying more towards Owen.
lisa I seriously look very pregnant at 13 weeks, midwife says its because it's my third lol.

LateBloomer414 · 29/05/2013 06:19

Morning all, vitamins. Of course! Duh :). Yes, taking the pregnacare with the omega 3 supplement. I will check on all of that today- just got off a red eye and have progressed to a bleed. Marching to the EPU this morning. After I unload the luggage at home. I am not ok but trying to think optimistic thoughts.

clare8allthepies · 29/05/2013 06:42

Good luck Late Thanks

QueenofWhispers · 29/05/2013 07:02

lots of love and hope for you late

yogafan · 29/05/2013 07:07

Good luck late - wishing you all the rest and reassurance you need. Sounds like you've had a mega day/night/whatever this feels like after red eye flight...

Queen what happened with your Harmony test at FMC? We weren't given our results over the phone... They gave us the blood test results just before they did the nuchal scan. The bloods were fine 1/10000, and nuchal was something like 1/2700, but still glad we had it done.

froubylou · 29/05/2013 08:44

Morning all

Harry I get that sometimes. Think its just everything stretching and moving around to make some space.

Late, hope everything is ok and goes well for you. Biggest hugs.

They do say second pregnancies show earlier than first ones. Thats what I'm telling myself anyway lol. I have a definate bump (10+2) though easily disguised at the minute with a loose top and my jeggings (which I have lived in for the last 6 weeks). OH commented last night when I got out of the bath that I am starting to look pregnant now, though I think it was chicken dinner more than baby lol.

I'm going to try and find the sex out at the scan. I wasn't going to but sister has a 4 month old boy and brother due a baby girl in june so am due lots of hand me downs and don't want to keep 2 sets. On top of that DD (who is 9 in july) was horrified when we told her we were having a baby pmsl. Took us 20 minutes to convince her we weren't kidding. She reluctantly coming around to the idea though only if its a girl. A boy is apparantly going to be sent back. So if I find out at the 20 week scan it at least gives her a while to come to terms with whatever we are having lol.

And because I'm due Christmas Eve shops will be mad busy with christmas/new year sales shoppers so OH wont be able to get the nice 'going home' outfit in the right colour.

I haven't had any of the downs type tests done. And not planning to. My theory is something absolutley horrendous should show on the 20 week scan, I wouldnt have the amnio tests done if I had a 'bad' result and would just give me something else to worry about. Ignorance is bliss for me but its such a personal choice I think.

Doing some baking today with DD. Haven't baked for years to be honest so need to get baking stuff, muffin tins and have ordered a food processor to collect to take out the hard work lol.

FluffyDucky · 29/05/2013 09:07

Good luck Late!
Harry I get it all the time, it seems to be muscular. If it bothers you or worries you head to mw or gp, no harm in asking :)

I realised yesterday it would be epic is baby was born on the 11th! Birthday would be 11/12/13! Hehe
