Hello ladies. I'm getting excited on behalf of you all now. Hope some more babies come along soon.

In the meantime though congratulations to abbey on the birth of Felicity. Lovely name and sounds like you had a similar experience to me.

Welcome to the new due in June ladies.

Iv'e posted an update on Laura and I in the birth announcements thread. In summary: she is doing fab Grin, I have a gaping wound in my tummy Shock.

Keep well everyone and can't wait to hear all about your little ones when they arrive!

LilacBump · 21/05/2006 18:44

welcome to all those new mums-to-be!!!

along with the backache, i've been having a few contractions tonight. only problem is DP is the only one in charge at work on the nightshift (as the other two managers are on holiday!) and will have to leave two rather unexperienced lads to run the shift for him if i go into labour tonight or tomorrow night! i've done the dishes, hoovered up and sorted out washing to see if the contractions would go (was told to keep busy to see if it's not braxton hicks) and it worked, they eased away. now just getting slight twinges.

My DH has just been an absolute sweetie! He told me that he'd got a present for me to take into hospital but that I could have it early - and he'd bought me a tiny MP3 player! I've put all my favourite songs on it so that when I'm by myself in the middle of the night in hospital attempting to feed DD, I can chill out with some music. It's also got a little attachment so I can carry it around with me if I leave the ward to go to the loo etc. I'd been thinking of buying one for ages, but it was so lovely of him to remember that and to get it as a pressie. Smile

Back still hurts, odd contractions still happening but still nothing to report. I nearly decked a friend today when he said to me 'only a couple of months to go' - what a horrific thought! Hoping two weeks max. is closer to the mark!!

Hang in there everyone.

trinity1 · 21/05/2006 20:33

Hello all, Just thought I'd say congratulations to the new mummies, and welcome to the new mums to be. Am a little jealous as still have just over two weeks to go and am getting very very impatient, not to mention scared and excited - all at the same time! :) Am also getting a few twinges, only problem is DP is currently on his way to Tokyo and won't be back until late Wednesday - hang on baby, please! :o

RachelPross · 21/05/2006 20:54

Blobsmummy - how thoughtful of your DH. unsure whether my DH would be so sweet...will let u know. He's being v attentive now that my EDD is approaching mind you.
Am now 35+4 and can't wait to meet my little one, still a bit fightened tho as she's my 1st and not sure what to expect birthwise. I know what I want but am only too aware that things have a tendency to v rarely go to plan. I hope I get my waterbirth as planned!

jenpreston · 21/05/2006 21:55

hi everybody, and thankyou for all the welcomes, well iam 35+1 now and showing no signs of labour at all the odd bit of back ache but thats about it, the only thing that is keeping me happy at the momment is that i start mt m/l on wednesday and i only have one full day out of that as got appointment with physio tomorrow as iam having problems with my stomach muscles they have started splitting down the middle so iam having it checked to make sure its not split anymore argh! can anyone give me somemore info about those raspberry leaf tablets and where you get them from , i had a look in boots last week but didnt have a clue what i was looking for or where to find them! xx

RachelPross · 21/05/2006 22:02

sounds nasty Jen...the stomach muscle thing. Is it painful? I've got the backaches too, am waddling about like a duck here. DH finds it v amusing.

RachelPross · 21/05/2006 22:03

oh yeah, try holland and barrett for the raspberry leaf tablets, they're more likely than boots i think. May even be online

RachelPross · 21/05/2006 22:06

just checked online, they do have them...£6.49 for a bottle of them but bound to be better than the tea. That stuff tastes foul

jenpreston · 21/05/2006 22:17

yeh it is painful mainly when ive been at work because iam sat down all day and hunched over my desk it aches like mad , i was talking to sombody at work whos just come back from mat leave and her muscles split while she was in labour when she was pushing (shock), thanks for the info on the raspberry leaf, i think iam gonna star trying all the old wives tales soon lol, the currys, sex (dp not been to keen on that though lol) xx

bumpinsheffield · 22/05/2006 13:13

Hi all,

Welcome to all new mums to be!

Well I'm still trundling along. It's a strange feeling to know when it's going to happen and not be waiting for the unexpected onslaught of labour. I must be about the only one who is hoping not to go into labour! How are you coping waswondering? Think you're booked in same day as me.

Vbab How are you enjoying your time off? Have you found anything to keep your mind occupied?

Lilacbump Any more contractions? I've had really bad backache recently but nothing else, wondering if its just my body giving way under the weight of this enormous baby :o

Blobsmummy How are you, is all still quiet on the labour front?

Surroundedbyboys Welcome to you and yes, your powers of perception are deadly accurate, I live in Woodhouse, where are you? How long since you moved from London?

Kathryn Good to hear from you, sorry you seem to be having problems, hope everything goes well on Wednesday, sure it will. Hope the itching gets better too. How are you enjoying the new house?

Laura I'm 37+5 weeks and the baby still moves around quite a bit but keeps coming to rest in the same breech position. But the reason the DRs aren't worried that the baby is breech is because I'm booked in for a c-section on the 1st June. I've had two c-sections before so I can't go for a natural birth :(

Diddle Wow - that's exciting. Bet you were worried though, hate that panicky feeling of knowing you've got to go into hospital to get checked. So glad it turned out all right for you.

Mitchell81 I've never heard the term "unstable lie" before. Hope all goes well on the 16th for you.

Hope everyone else is doing okay. It's all getting very exciting.

LilacBump · 22/05/2006 17:57

just had a few more twinges. DP thinks i will have him by wednesday, i think before the weekend.

trinity1 · 22/05/2006 18:56

Lilacbump - you must be so excited :). Keep us all posted. Can't believe we're all getting to that stage where we're going to be having our babies soon, doesn't seem that long ago when we were sympathising with each other over morning sickness! :o

vbab78 · 22/05/2006 21:13

bumpinsheffield it was my first day off today. Very strange, almost depressive not doing anything. I am a weirdo Wink. Nice though. I suppose I should be enjoying this rest time before my first born descends on the world.

I'm 38 weeks tomorrow and just can't wait to see baby now, even though I need to go through all that pain first. Baby seems quite comfortable though Sad. Will have to see if there has been any developments when I see the midwife on Thursday.

It must be a strange feeling knowing when you are having your baby but a nice one I bet Smile.

blobsmummy · 22/05/2006 21:46

Evening all! Sorry bumpinsheffield, absolutely nothing to report on the labour front [big sigh emoticon].

Jenpreston - have tried the curry thing - just gave me awful heartburn - hope you have better luck Smile. I'm under instructions from DH to wait until Friday to go into labour to give him a chance to get all of his work sorted for the next few weeks - I'd rather not oblidge him on that one!

Trinity1 - definitely no curries for you!

RachelPross - that's exactly how I feel - can't wait to meet DD but very unsure about the birth.

LilacBump - thinking of you (shame about belgium not getting through to eurovision final BTW!)

Vbab - after two weeks of mat leave I'm now struggling to find things to do, especially as I can't walk far because of SPD. Have offered to clean DH's scalextric track tomorrow - how sad am I! Grin

Have not got so desperate that I've inflicted DH with the thought of having sex yet, but I have tried the whole nipple tweaking thing Blush. It worked for about an hour, so I figure if I give it a go everyday, then as soon as this baby is ready it should give things a bit of a kick start.

Hope you all have a restful night x

nic33 · 23/05/2006 07:33

Hello from hospital bed! Baby Freddie born yesterday by elective c/s as planned. A bit smaller than planned - 6lb 4oz - but ok. I'm feeling a bit wobbly having just got up for first time.

Something is telling me it isn't going to be like that tho! we shall see.

Laura032004 · 23/05/2006 09:44

Just a quickie to say a huge CONGRATULATIONS to nic33 on the safe arrival of Freddie. :)

SuperSaint · 23/05/2006 10:04

Congratulations Nic33! I am now getting a bit jealous of all these people with babies - mine is due 1st June so I should have been first on this thread Wink

Is anyone else having trouble sleeping at night? I seem to wake up about 3am and have trouble getting back to sleep until about 6am when Dh gets up and DD starts stirring so I have to get up too. I don't feel that uncomfortable so I am finding this really frustrating. I could do with a few decent night's sleep before the baby arrives.

DD is still at nursery on a Tuesday so I should be getting on with housework etc and maybe even brave the supermarket. What an exciting life I lead!!

Lottielou · 23/05/2006 11:00

supersaint - yep i'm exaclty the same, getting very frustrated with sleepless nights now, i know we have all that to look forward to when the little ones arrive but it would be nice to make the most of sleep now. I find it hard to get comfy and when i do and drift off to sleep baby dances on my bladder so have to get up. It's one big circle!
We dont have long now tho hun, hang in there! Smile

Well certainly sounds like things are moving for a lot of you, how exciting and i'm very Envy Good luck to all!

Diddle - Good luck at the hosp xxx

Mitchell81 · 23/05/2006 11:39

Congratulations nic33
Went to see midwife yesterday and baby is now breech, so looks like he is not settling into one position. Have just over a week until they decide whether I should go into hospital until birth or not.
Hope everyones feeling fine and not getting too impatient.
