Evening!

Trinity1 - please take heart. I'm still measuring 9 weeks smaller than dates (28 weeks instead of 37) and midwife keeps sending me for growth scans, mainly because she has to if the difference is that much. However, at each of the scans (and I've now had 6!) baby measured normal, and in the most recent one (2 weeks ago) baby measured bigger than normal! I've just had my 3rd consultant appt today and have now been officially signed off from being measured as there's nothing wrong at all. At this point, measuring with a tape measure is really inaccurate - it depends on what position your baby is in. Mine is really low down and the scan showed that she's curled herself into a really tight little ball, so although she's 'normal' length, she's acting like a little hedgehog so therefore the fundal height is all wrong. Your baby sounds like it's a decent weight already, so I'm sure everything is fine. I really hope everything works out for you Smile

Diddle - Grin to your baby being cooked!

LilacBump - Shock all that worry for nothing - what a relief for you though.

Waswondering & Bumpinsheffield - so excited for you both Grin

Laura - thanks for the shaving tip - will definitely be trying that.

Well, I'm officially leaking like a cow and my boobs have gone all itchy. Tried the lanolin cream stuff - smells like I'm rubbing an old sheep on my nipples! Have decided to stick to nice smelling moisturiser for the mo instead.

SuperSaint · 25/05/2006 21:15

Hi Girls

Nothing much to report here. I'm 39 weeks today and feel like I've been pregnant forever - the novelty has DEFINITELY worn off now!

DD is really trying my patience at the moment - she seems to be going through everything she knows is naughty - jumping on the sofa, throwing food on the floor, refusing to get dressed, kicking me etc etc. I can't decide whether she is being extra naughty or whether it is just me feeling huge and tired and not being able to deal with her as well as usual. I was expecting some bad behaviour when the baby arrived but am not sure how much more I can deal with now. At least DH will be around for the long weekend to help me.

Take Care Everyone

happybebe · 25/05/2006 22:12

hi everyone hope you are all not too impatient and bearing up!

me, i cant wait to get this baby out, am scared stiff of labour second time round bu know there is only one way this baby will come out! i am 35 weeks and baby is not moving anywhere near as much, there really is not much room left in there.the RLT has been going down a treat and have some nice strong braxton hicks most nights. no leaking boobs at all this time, last time i was flooding the bed at 25 weeks gone!

i also had a growth scan with this baby and my last baby and iboth times my babies measured normal, anyone who is under try not to worry too much! :)

Hello Ladies,

Not been on for a few days ... a little update.

I'm now 38+3, saw midwife yesterday, everything fine (blood pressure and size), 4/5 engaged but have been since an appointment in April according to my notes just no one told me. She reckons that baby won't fully engage until labour. She was surprised to feel one of baby's legs and feet without even pressing down on my belly, I’ve got used to it. Start to see midwife every week now.

I went to aqua natal for the first time, yes I know it's a little late, on Wednesday. It was a nice change to four walls because after only 2 days on maternity leave I had started to become bored and depressed. It was nice to talk to other mums to be, all which were shocked at how far along I was. One lady was saying how uncomfortable she feels and she is only 19 weeks!

I then made the mistake afterwards of walking home rather than catching the bus only to be regretting it half way home. I made it though Smile and the exercise didn't encourage baby to appear, if anything it just made baby sleep.

Diddle - No movement here either, baby is very comfortable unlike its mum. I've had stinging pains but nothing else really. DH has predicted 41 weeks! I will have gone mad by then.

vbab78 · 26/05/2006 08:47

Thanks for the tip about not having nails done. Will have to see if I get time once baby is born. Smile

Hello all,

Well, i saw the consultant and had another (5th) growth scan on wednesday... good news! Baby has had a bit of a growth spurt!! Am 36 wks and they reckon he is 5lb 12oz already so have a feeling they (and me) have been panicking a bit unnecesarily!

Also, although all the books say 2nd babies dont engage til labour I am apparently "very engaged" despite this being my 2nd child with still 4 weeks to go. Am hoping this means babs will come early (daughter was 15 days overdue Blush ) Am also having quite strong braxton hicks that make me gasp when they come.

At the appointment, during the scan we managed to get a full frontal of baby's face! and got a picture! So cute! Little button nose, eyes wide open, chubby cheeks!! Felt like I was being properly introduced at last!
Am now totally goey maternal heap of hormones !

Hope everyone well! x

surroundedbyboys · 26/05/2006 21:19

hi all. dh had taken the computer away on business for a couple of days, so no mumsnet for me.

bumpinsheffield - i think you must be booked in with T C Li - he is the head guy at Jessops I think. I only know because I am booked with him too. We have BUPA through dh's work, and due to complications following birth of ds2, my c/s is being covered by BUPA, so I am booked in with TC Li privately. He is meant to be the best.

Supersaint - my children are driving me bonkers too. I have been the most grumpy hideous creature today and am now feeling rather guilty about it, but they are just constantly fighting and whining! aargh.

My tip would be - take a container of water with you to the toilet after a vaginal birth. Your wee will sting so pour the water onto your bits as you wee to dilute the acidity. Sorry if TMI but bloody invaluable tip IMO.

RachelPross · 26/05/2006 22:41

Glad to hear everyone is well. Had a v lazy couple of days, sleeping in etc and making the most of the opportunity while I still can. Just can't get ove how tired I still am at night even when I have a lie in in the morning...think I was a dormouse on a previous life!!

Hi Ladies

Hope you're all relaxing as much as possible in these last few weeks/days and congrats to those who've had their babies.

Very impressive list LB and I'm ashamed to say I have been lurking - I haven't posted since the last thread as this pregnancy hasn't been the smoothest - was diagnosed with a single umbilical artery at 20 weeks and have had umpteen scans, heart scans etc to try and find out whether there is anything wrong with the baby as a result (from what I can ascertain there is a much higher risk than average of heart and/or kidney problems and about 4 x higher risk of downs/edwards, plus risk of small baby/prem birth). Not helped at all by the fact that virtually every medical professional I have seen tells me something different (from 'don't worry at all' to 'I'd have an amnio if I were you'). Anyway, decided against that in the end as the scans didn't find anything and am feeling fairly relaxed about the arrival of DD, still due 9th June. Bit more concerned about how DS (19mths) will react, typically he has started to get rather toddlerish just in time for the new arrival! People keep telling me he's too young to be too phased by her arrival but I'm not so sure...

Anyway, good luck all!

Docket

Mitchell81 · 27/05/2006 14:32

Thanks Lilacbump for all your hard work, it is nice to see where everyone one is in their pregnancy. I am feeling fine, just tired and can't wait for baby to arrive, SPD seems to have settled and not getting any worse over the last month. So I think I'm been quite lucky. Waiting to see Midwife on Monday and Consultant on Tuesday to see how this baby is lying. So should know whats happening on Tuesday. It is so unsettling not knowing if I will have to spend time in hospital beforehand. Cause I then need to get dd ready for a 2 week stay with my dh at my parents. Hope you all have a good weekend and the rains stops.

diddle · 27/05/2006 14:55

well i think i've caught up with all your nes, excellent list Lilacbump, think you've got far too much time on your hands.
Docket - i have to say that i don't think 19 months is too young for your little one to start getting jealous, i know you will have so much to think about, but i really think you need to be prepared for your toddler to be fighting for your attention and doing whatever it can to get it.

Still nothing to report here. Feeling exceedingly tired, even as soon as i get up, which is more annoying than anything. i suppose i should be saving my energy but i can't seem to stop doing the odd little job.

RachelPross · 27/05/2006 14:56

Anyone else got really sore areas on their bump, not red or inflamed but v v painful. Midwife reckons it's just where baby's foot is pressing upwards (my Mum said she had the same thing.) It's not at all comfortable, also been feeling v sick.
Who knows, perhaps it's time. I wouldn't object if she decided to come now.

diddle · 27/05/2006 15:01

i've had that Rach, does it feel like theres a bruise there, but really there isn't?? its very annoying especially when the sore bit is right where your trousers sit. mine went away on its own.

RachelPross · 27/05/2006 15:17

MIne is right unde my right boob and has been there for about 3 weeks now. It's doin my head in, think it'll only go away when the little one arrives

blobsmummy · 27/05/2006 17:29

Thanks LilacBump for the update on everyone.

I'm with you Rachel and Diddle - I reckon my insides are black and blue from bruising, especially one area above my right hip which is DD's favourite place to kick. Have also had nasty diarrhoea and feeling nauseous today, but I'm trying to take no notice of it as I don't want to get my hopes up like last week.

I'm now really struggling not to be hacked off by everyone and everything in sight, just coz I'm so fed up of being pregnant. I'm being grumpy/tired to happy/excited and every emotion in between in such a short space of time at the mo that I'm even surprising myself.

Still, bought a cute little coat for DD that'll do her through winter/into spring for the bargain price of £4 today! I do love a good bargain...

LilacBump · 27/05/2006 17:42

docket, glad to see you here again! i'm sorry to hear you've had a troublesome pregnancy. DD (nearly 5) is getting very jealous, especially of all the things we've bought for our baby. got to get my head around the idea of always having to buy something for them both!

diddle, i started the list as i know there are a few ladies having elective c-sections soon and i wanted to be able to wish them luck for it. i do indeed have too much time on my hands. DP looked after DD this morning as i was so worn out. tonight we are going to the cinema with DP's sister and mum. it'll be our last night out before the baby comes. hope it won't be interrupted by waters breaking, but as soon as the film's done this baby can come! :)

happybebe · 27/05/2006 18:56

rachelpross hate to be a misery guts but my midwife recently got concerned when i had a painlike that under right boob, said it can be a liver complication in the end of pregnancy? normally though you can get migraines or headaches with it. perhaps just mention to your midwife when you see her next. :)

glad to hear everyone is still doing okay, i am miserbale today 14 month old DD pulled a huge tantrum for the first time ever in pizza hut and i got so embarressed as have never seen her like that and had no idea what to do. i tried sitting her on my knee but she kept kicking me in the belly (Angry) and trying to get away, but if i put her down she just stood there and screamed even more. Sad made me really down about having kids and wondering how i will cope with two close together. no one to blame for that but me though!

baby 2, who we are going to call elsie catherine williams by the way, is doing fine though, just feels like she has no room left to move in there what so ever, she cant even kick now, only do half hearted jabs. Hub and Mother in law both seem to think my bump has got smaller (!) instead of bigger, actually agree perhaps it has just dropped or something but will mention it to midwife anyways :)

Birth Announcement! Baby Adam was born 5 days early yesterday morning (27 May). My DH and I had arranged a babysitter for Friday night and went out for a lovely meal in the local pub. I felt absolutely fine throughout the evening - not a twinge in sight! I woke up at 1am needing to go to the loo and felt something was not quite right as I had mild crampy pains. They felt worse when I went back to bed so I pottered around a bit. After an hour they were definitely getting worse so I woke DH at 2pm and called the hospital just to warn them things were starting. The hospital told me that they were not accepting any admissions as they had no water supply so I'd have to go to Guildford (about 14 miles away instead).

Things were definitely starting to get worse and as we didn't know where the hospital was we decided to get going and dropped DD off at a friend's and went to the hospital. We arrived at 3.30am and Adam was born at 4.45am - exactly 3 hours and 45 mins after I first woke up with twinges! He weighed 7 lbs exactly and is absolutely beautiful. I just had gas and air but tore as he was coming out as he had his hand up by his face so I needed stiches. They are quite painful today but paracetamol seems to help.

We came home last night and at the moment everything seems to be going well. We were all in a bit of shock at the speed of everything and I am so glad I trusted my instincts and went to the hospital when I did!

I hope the rest of you are okay and your deliveries will be as quick!

SuperSaint · 28/05/2006 17:11

I mean I woke DH at 2AM!
