I've got my booking appt with mw next week. Did anyone else have to fill in loads of info before seeing mw? I did last time but when I asked at GP surgery this time I was told I would get forms when I saw mw? Seems a bit strange

Hope everyone else is doing ok and not too sick/ tired / bloated / sore!!

I can relate with the fear of In laws impending arrival - my MIL whom I can only stand in small doses is planning already to stay with us for months as the baby is born. Scares the hell out of me. They live in Asia so we see them approx once a year.
DH needs To manage expectations but MIL is a manipulative drama queen so can only see it from her side. I'm someone who will need some space and quiet when I've just given birth as I expect I'll be hormonal, exhausted and overwhelmed. And I can see myself being unable to put up with her cr*p at that time and snapping at her!
The idea of my MIL just being there the whole time is terrifying. Any ideas on how to handle this sensitively?
It's the first grand child on both sides and so I appreciate they want to be involved but I could manage a two week visit but not the month-plus one they seem to be planning!! [shocked]

A whole new thread - that's very exciting! It feels like a milestone somehow.

Had my first hospital appointment today - and one advantage of having crazy medical conditions is that they give you an early scan (seemingly to check they aren't wasting money treating you!). And there it was - a little blob with a heartbeat! So now back at home I just stare at the picture not really believing it...

But that has made me brave enough to put myself on the list.

paolo - I must admit to reading your post in the waiting room for my scan and it suddenly occurring to me "what if it's twins?". Apparently just one for me, but congrats on making it a double!

Guava glad you have got something for the ms. Mari I'm not sure i could teach teenagers- I'm primary, although some of my 10 year olds do seem like mini-teenagers! The language they come out with now I'm sure I never knew at their age. I had my PPA afternoon today but was so shattered I didn't get much done- looking forward to tiredness lifting.

Evening ladies....new thread & everything!

Welcome to all the new folks & nice to see a dad on here!

Had docs appt on Tuesday...they've put me earlier at 21st July but will leave as is til I've had my early scan.

I agree with whoever said about lots of paperwork before booking in appt....I've got my nuchal scan date through but no booking in appt, but lots of paperwork for it?! They could save on postage and send all out at once surely?

thunder I sympathise re:MIL. When we had ds I said very frankly that we would have no visitors/anyone stay for 1st 2 weeks, as (a)wanted it to be just us 3 to get used to things & (b) I didn't want dh to siend his pat leave running around after "guests". Could you use that excuse?

In saying that, I had ds on a Thursday, Susan flew down on sat morning & flew back up sun evening (from Glasgow but now live in London). But she arrived laden with essential groceries, put washing loads on for me, cooked for us & kept an eye in ds whilst me & dh got some shut eye. But she is all I've got left in terms of close family & used to live with us..dh even said "can we pay her to stay with us, to help out", lol!

Might be imposing a similar rule with no2....want to make sure ds gets to know his new sibling & don't want to be running after houseguests, for a while at least.

Hello all the new additions and congratulations to all those seeing good things on the scan.
I have 2 positive pieces of news-1 i went on tfl website and got myself a baby on board badge- i did have to put it on furtively and take it off before i got to anyone i knew, but it was lovely on the tube- everyone was kind and fast to get up- i highly recommend getting one- esp for those of you with hideous commutes.
2nd thing- my friend has just told me that she had acupuncture for severe ms during pg right from 6 weeks and it worked- she said each session gave her 2-3 days of not being sick and also having some energy. I think i am going to give it a go too as the days are just running past at the mo with me keeping my head down and trying not to vom.
I too have mil issues and feel like i am fending her off with big stick when babies born-(1st baby she came to hospital within hours and held dd for an hour not offering to give her back and step fil there too whilst i wad too embarrassed to get up to loo as was bleeding everywhere( sorry tmi) my advice now after 61/2 years dealing with mil is -
be brave, be straight, act sooner rather later to manage expectations before they start imagining what will happen and lastly- say it yourself, your dp may not have it in him to say it ( dh manages occasionally but usually ballses it up)
Orange- rage- i have it in spades - guilty mother this eve for shouting at dd ( and dh and ds...)

Ellie and co- im another mad one going for a 3rd. We're just hoping they'll fit in our skoda and as someone else said nearly 7 year old dd will have to get used to booster in middle and will not like it

Feeling completely fed up though!

I got rumbled at choir practice tonight - lady who sat next to me in the alto section is a health visitor and spotted straight away that I'm pregnant, even though at 6w2d it's only going to be bloating & water retention. She wouldn't let me help put the chairs away afterwards! She was very nice about it though and promises to keep it quiet, as I don't want everyone at church gossiping about it.

She's convinced it's a boy - I hope not, as we don't have much luck hanging onto boys in my family.

Hi can I join please? I just had my 8 week scan today and saw a tiny little heartbeat! I'm due on the 11th of July, not sure if I can do the copy and paste thing on the iPad?! I've been looking at the group for a few days but didn't want to tempt fate by joining before my scan x

thunder. Re MIL/FIL. Mine came for a month when DS was borna week before due date & he was 10 days late!they just sort of watched me uncomfortably pregnant. Ha!! And i then i had 44-hr labor followed by caesarian and was in hospital for 6 days total...anyway in the end we were home with baby together for a week. It was great having dinner made & laundry done. But i did feel stressed for sure and was at my worst physically & emotionally between recovery & bfeeding struggles. I guess i just deferred to DH's wishes. He only sees his parents 2-3 times a year now and i felt selfish keeping them away. Next time though, i would like a visit a bit later if i can get everyone to agree.

cheese i can't imagine teaching primary! Much prefer surly teens!!

Paolo very exciting about twins! My DH keeps joking I've got 2 beans growing, we have twins on both sides of our families so we will have to wait and see at the scan.

Boobs feel a bit like they have pins and needles- anyone else got this. DH laughed when I tried to explain to him...

Thanks Cheeseandbread - our twins (writing that seems so weird) are due to dual IVF implantation rather than having them run in the family.

But DP also suffers from quite extreme pins and needles in her boobs. I've not had a front-on cuddle for weeks now. And long may it continue, says I.

Morning all.
I tentatively posted a few weeks ago when I got my BFP but feeling a little more positive after my usual pregnancy symptoms have begun. Complete and utter irrationality.
My emotions are so emphasised, small things seem the end of the world, my oh talking to one of my gf's means they are having an affair, one of my friends at work gets a promotion and I am being discriminated against due to pregnancy (even though they don't know!) (although this one may be true as I suffered a Mmc in sep, so they knew I was trying)
Last pregnancy ended in pre-natal depression so desperately trying to keep hold of the irrationality!!
On the up side it's dc4 for us! Others are 9,8 &2 and I work full time so we have our hands full!!
We have a land rover discovery, which is the most amazing car for a young family. Highly recommend.
Gotta go wheetabix are being demanded!
