Good luck Shiv

trickybarmby · 31/12/2012 00:52

does your hospital have an epau unit shiv? could you ring them? I had bleeding and cramping at about 6 weeks and my gp kept saying the m word but had an early scan at epau and everything was fine?! so fingers crossed it'll be the same for you! just desperately waiting for a proper scan now! thinking of you x

dinkystinky · 31/12/2012 08:03

Hope you managed to get some rest last night and bleeding and cramps have abated Supershiv.

Supershiv1 · 31/12/2012 08:52

Hi all.
Bleeding lasted about an hour or so. Little bit this AM, but think that might be gravity when I got up.
Have a gp appt at 10:30, thinking I will push for a scan.
Sorry to hijack the thread but there's no epu locally and trying to get any advice out of hours is a bit of a nightmare!
Thanks for all kind words, no carry on with being excited (it is nye) and I'll let you know how I get on.
X

photographerlady · 31/12/2012 08:56

Hope the appointment goes well shiv

emblosion · 31/12/2012 10:15

Fingers crossed for today supershiv am thinking of you x

Persuasion · 31/12/2012 11:31

supershiv fingers crossed all is ok for you, and everything settles down now.

ohgood I'm so glad to hear baby looks ok.

Welcome Marie!

My MS seems to be finally fading which is lovely! Unfortunately it seems to have been replaced with heartburn/reflux, but this is still an improvement. After our good scan we've told friends and family, and everyone has been pleased which is good.

We went shopping at the weekend. I've bought some maternity clothes, because I'm starting to run out of trousers I can fit into! I was horrified at how few stores stocked maternity wear. M&S, gap and next only do online, even though they were quite big stores (in milton keynes). Mothercare have done rather well out of me, clothes were heavily reduced, pretty and fit well with lots of room for growing bump, I was most surprised! We also had a quick look at pushchairs but no baby purchases yet. Has anyone had any thoughts or recommendations about things like pushchairs yet??

specialknickers · 31/12/2012 11:57

What great news nogood, I'm so happy for you.

I've got my 12 week scan this afternoon and I'm really nervous about it. Still have all my symptoms though so staying positive.

To my shame I'm already wearing maternity jeans! I got so sick of wearing things that didn't fit properly I bought a pair of black skinnies from new look for 15 quid... Mind you the 4 lb weight gain from Christmas hasn't helped...

esme80 · 31/12/2012 12:00

We had a quick look at double-pushchairs at the weekend, think I will need one as ds will be 20 months when this one comes. They are huge! Think that I have to wrap my head around the fact that its going to be a beast before I can look at what I want...

esme80 · 31/12/2012 12:01

Oh and I have also given up and am back, and comfy, in maternity clothes...

CottonSock · 31/12/2012 12:02

Good luck Shiv, hope you get good news today.

I have just been blubbing watching mundane TV. Think it's because DH gone back to work and feels like the hols are over sob sob (pulling myself together to do shopping and decorating)..

Been looking at my newly purchased baby books about what to buy. DH has no idea, his mate has told him to start saving. He thinks a travel system about £100... I know it's much more than that, but scared to find out exact amount!

photographerlady · 31/12/2012 12:15

I never thought I be so excited for baby things. My babybjorn carrier came today. My DH is wearing it about the house :) he's do short and I'm nearly 6 foot and can adjust it so easily really hope the little bean likes it come July. I am hiding my wallet now and not buying anything else. Curse those sales.

Supershiv1 · 31/12/2012 12:45

Thanks for support.
Been to gp, she was really nice and tried to get a scan for today but they're full.
10:10 on Thursday is the earliest so just need to rest up, watch out for clots or pain and get myself to a&e if anyhting gets worse.
Happy new year! ;-)

dinkystinky · 31/12/2012 13:27

Cottonsocks - you are looking at 300 + for a new travel system. Cheaper second hand. Bestbuggy.co.uk is great site for buggy reviews and comparisons. Had quinny buzz for no 1, Maclaren xlr for Ds2 and thinking of baby jogger city versa gt for no 3 - have sold on buggies each time.

Photographerlady DS1 loved the babybjorn as did DH - much better for tall people. I love my back butterfly carrier.

dinkystinky · 31/12/2012 13:29

Xposted - glad your gp was supportive Super shiv. Take it easy, keep hydrated and watch lots of feel good TV to help reduce your worry levels.

specialknickers · 31/12/2012 13:34

Hope everything's okay with you supershiv. Rest up x

Persuasion I'll be reusing Ds's travel system. I've only just packed it away (bugaboo - expensive but virtually indestructible)... I'll get a Maclaren probably later on. I bought an obaby stroller as a holiday pram for ds and ended up using it all the time. When it died I replaced it with a new one - avoid like the plague! Terrible steering, weighs a tonne and is rubbish quality. Damn you Internet shopping!

esme80 · 31/12/2012 13:50

I have a bugaboo cameleon for ds, is expensive but absolutely brilliant. Think about what you need from a pushchair, ie do you use busses/train a lot, walk a lot, in and out of car etc. Then go from there.

photographerlady · 31/12/2012 14:23

Thanks dink we purchased a second hand never used Silvercross 3D pram for £20. It's a beast in size but I see myself so much more as a sling and baby carrier person. Can't wait to test it out but I think the cats will disown me if I try and squeeze them in the babybjorn.

MarieKL · 31/12/2012 14:54

Supershiv I hope Thursday comes quickly for you.

Thanks to everyone for welcoming me to the thread.

We had a second hand bugaboo for DS which was great for the first year but changed to a city mini for communting into London when he started at my work's Nursery and I realised the Bugaboo was great for walking but impossible when facing a train station with about 100 steps and a packed commuter train! Now in love with the mini so may just get the carrycot converter!

Baby brain wise last time I was pregnant I announced to everyone in my office that one of my walking home shoes had disappeared only to have a colleague point out the next day that she'd found it in the filing tray!

Hope you all have a Happy New Year's Eve. I think I'll be in bed by 10pm:-)

ArkadyRose · 31/12/2012 15:30

I'll probably look at something second-hand when it's time to think about a pushchair - likely not until much later on though. I'm planning to mostly babywear as I did with DD3; I already gave away her sling though, so I've been eyeing up pretty fabrics to make my own this time. I still have the pirate-fabric backpack carrier a friend lent me for when the little one is 12 months onwards - very sturdy; I was still able to carry DD3 in that when she was 3!

OP posts:
Guavasforbreakfast · 31/12/2012 16:12

Talking of sling wearing, my dsis is lending me her ergo carrier - she's showed me how to do it with her 1 yr old but I can't figure out how on earth you'd manoeuvre a tiny baby in and out :-/ Prob not a question for this thread or this early on but arkady's post reminded me! Anyone use one?

Guavasforbreakfast · 31/12/2012 16:28

Oh and to answer the pushchair question my mum's getting us a small one, prob a m&p urbo, as we live in the city centre. We also like to get out into the countryside though and are considering getting a 3 wheeler as well - is it ridiculous to have 2 pushchairs? I'm concerned about just using a sling on long days out if baby needs to sleep.
I am such a newbie at all of this...Grin

ArkadyRose · 31/12/2012 16:29

guavas Is it the Ergobaby Carrier? If so you can download the instructions PDF from the website here.

OP posts:
photographerlady · 31/12/2012 16:31

I love recommendations on sling brands. YouTube has a lot of resources on how to place a newborn in a sling and some sling brands have instructions via video on their site.

Guavasforbreakfast · 31/12/2012 16:42

Ah thanks arkady, that makes so much more sense than the way she showed me! She sorted of put it all on first then shuffled the baby in bit by bit from the top - was a bit Shock at doing that to a newborn...
