Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
twocatsonthebed · 11/05/2006 09:41

hello everyone

Haven't been on in ages, mostly as been too tired to think, never mind type, but am now finally starting to feel a bit normal (at 15 weeks now) although still a bit sick in the evenings. I'd quite like to get back to cooking - and not have to run out of the supermarket because it makes me queasy...

Can't even begin to catch up, so just hope everyone's enjoying the sunshine!

Hattie05 · 11/05/2006 09:49

Hi everyone.

amyjade - i'm off to Gran Canaria next week - tour operator advised me to inform insurance company and take a letter from GP to say i'm fit to fly.

I rang the insurance company and they said thats fine - only need to know if i'm 8 weeks away from due date. Others may be different so worth ringing yours!

As for the GP note, i'm going to get one just to cover all eventualities - but i really can't see why i will need it as although i have a bump - the average bod in the airport is hardly going to notice it.

Enjoy your hols!

fatbetty · 11/05/2006 14:29

Hi All! Had my scan this morning and all is well with lo! Glad that all is well and that I can finally tell people. Told ds1 and he keeps telling me that I have a baby in my tummy and then pats my boobs. lol!

Feeling a bit out of it from the heat. I'm not complaining though, I'm not complaining!

NatalieJane · 11/05/2006 14:48

Glad your scan went well FB, I think it is about time we had some pictures of all these scans posted Wink

awayfromhome · 11/05/2006 14:59

Glad your scan went well fatbetty :)

Amyjade - have a good holiday. Whenever I travel whilst pregnant I notify my insurance company - just to be on the safe side.

Spinach - sorry to hear the bleeding, take care of yourself. I have had 2 friends with low lying placentas both shifted up during the course of the pregnancy - so fingers crossed for you.

Hope it stays hot for my return to the UK next week, it is currently 29C here and it is nearly 10pm! The airconditioners are groaning under the strain..

Finally got rid of the tired and sick feeling, so glad my energy levels have returned. Having felt so grotty for 3 months I forgot how good I felt during the 2nd trimester of my 1st pregnancy - but hopefully this new found energy is here to stay.

Hope everyones day is going well.

awayfromhome · 11/05/2006 15:01

Spinach - sorry to hear about the bleeding Sad really should preview before I type!!

Jen1209 · 11/05/2006 16:40

Hi,

Spinach - sorry to hear about the bleeding too :( really rest up and hope things settle down (or preferably up :) ) for you soon.

V hot and bothered here - very stressful day and just about had enough now. Think I am going to ask if I can change my hours to finish at 4.30 (start at 8.00 am) as then I don't have to fight with the school kids in the mornings either.

mygirllolipop · 12/05/2006 08:54

Spinach - sorry about this worry, but glad you were seen soon and it's not terrible news, now take it easy and see what the 20wk scan says.
AmyJade - never been abroad whilst pg so only know you can't travel after so many weeks without a Dr's note (28wks IIRC) and then not at all after so many more weeks.
FatBetty - DD2 moved up to reception inJanuary and before that in nursery she had two teachers plus assistants but if you think when they move up to reception they will only have one teacher for 30 kids. Glad to hear your scan went well.
NJ - I get breathless too and I also have low BP, well 100/60 last time I went. I thought it was my asthma but maybe it's that instead, hope this second trimester brings a glow to us all!
2cats - supermarkets always make me feel sick and dizzy, I always end up sitting on the benches half way thru the shop!

NatalieJane · 12/05/2006 09:13

How are you feeling now Spinach?

Hope everyone is OK? It looks like another lovely day starting here, a bit cloudier (is that a word???!) this morning but still nice and sunny and warm :)

My DS had a party yesterday afternoon at a soft land place, there were lots of other mums I hadn't met before, and I got loads of comments like "You can't have much longer to go now?" "Aww a summer baby, how lovely..." I was more than a little embarressed to tell them I am not even 12 weeks yet. Am really really starting to wonder if there is more than two in there...

NatalieJane · 12/05/2006 09:14

Oooops of course meant more than one in there, goodness me, more than two, I think I would faint....!!

fatbetty · 12/05/2006 09:22

Nj, I also find myself breathless after doing something simple - like going up the stairs. Thought I was just terrible out of shape!

Hope you all are doing well! MS is still clinging on and just wish I would feel better and had more energy. Seems especially bad at night.

HopingCat · 12/05/2006 09:24

NJ I have also been told that it looks like I'm having twins, by lots of people who've had children. As this is my first pg this really did worry me, but I've had 2 scans now and they've only found one baby. I'm now concerned that this could be a really big baby! Apparently a long baby is good as it has more weight and pops out easier, but a fat baby is bad because the head will be massive! I know which I'd choose if I could.

When is your scan?

harrogatemum · 12/05/2006 09:29

Hi all - not been on for a while - had my 12 week scan yesterday! It was so exciting - everything seems to be in order, the baby was waving its arms around and was very active. I feel like I can rest easy a bit now that I know all seems well. Amyjade - I am going on holiday in one weeks time - to Malaysia! Some people think I am crazy, I dont know why - it was booked before I got pregnant - I plan to just take it as easy as poss in the shade - let DH run around after the twins and sip bottled water and eat only well cooked food!

It may seem a long way to go for a holiday but we are meeting my SIL and her family who are coming from Brisbane - its classed as halfway, ha ha.

NatalieJane · 12/05/2006 09:30

Hiya HC :)

It isn't just the size of me, I have been feeling what I was sure was the baby down in the left hand side of my pelvis, then I think it was the day before yesterday (or maybe the day before that) I suddenly got even bigger, and my bump actually changed shape, I thought my uterous had moved up then couldn't feel the baby move, then last night I was led down with DH on the sofa and I could feel the baby again in the same sort of place as before, but then I could feel something else in the top right hand corner of my bump, and even as I sit here 'talking' to you, I can feel two completely separate areas of movement, don't know if it is two different babies or the head end and the feet end of one!!! My scan is still nearly 3 weeks away, I already know the next three weeks are going to be like sheer hell!!

hongkongfuey · 12/05/2006 09:47

Hello, I'm new here and would really appreciate some advice. I'm 39 and pregnant with my second child. I had a nuchal scan yesterday and my results came back just outside the high risk group. The measurement on the back of the baby's neck was 2.4. I have opted to have CVS on Monday because I feel that I need to know either way. I'd be really grateful to hear of other people's experiences - apologies I have tried to do a search as I'm sure this must have been done before but my pregnancy hormones are affecting my ability to use a computer properly!
Thanks

harrogatemum · 12/05/2006 10:00

Hi Hongkongfuey - I cant offer any advice regarding this but I am sure someone will be along to help.It may be worth starting a separate thread about it under the pregnancy topic so more people out there see it?

hongkongfuey · 12/05/2006 10:14

Thanks Harrogatemum have posted on pregnancy as well

twocatsonthebed · 12/05/2006 10:59

morning all!

Blimey, NJ, that is sounding a bit like twins, isn't it! Can you not get an earlier scan to find out? Might be worth ringing the midwives and asking - as you said, it's three weeks of worry otherwise. Although from what you are saying, they may just need to examine you.

hongkongfuey - I'm forty and was dreading the nuchal scan for the same reason, and would have done exactly the same thing in your circumstances. Did they give you the results as odds (1 in 50 or whatever)? There are loads of threads on this, but the archive search is down, so you can't get at them. Hope it all goes well on Monday.

Harrogatemum - great news about your scan.

And Spinach, how are you feeling now?

Me, I thought I was feeling better until I overdid it yesterday, and had to go to bed with a raging headache, and too sick to eat anything. Am starting to feel as though I will be like this for the whole nine months. Grr. Hope everyone else is having fun in the sun.

mygirllolipop · 12/05/2006 11:18

I'm starting to get headaches every night lately, bordering on migranes as having to turn lights off etc but have been going to bed before it gets nasty. Maybe it's just the weather. Had to see Dr with DD3 at the same stage of pg as had one big long headache for 4-6 weeks!
Congrats on scan gone well HM.

twocatsonthebed · 12/05/2006 11:35

Mygirl, that sounds like me last night! They're horrid, but I am a bit relieved to hear it's not just me - last time I had headaches like that was when I miscarried, and so I was starting to worry.

I get them quite erratically, and am trying to work out what causes them - tiredness, additives in food, or being dehydrated are my best guesses so far. Or is it just one of those preg things?

NatalieJane · 12/05/2006 11:47

I have been getting headaches as well, thought it was just the sun. Don't remember getting them in my first pregnancy though.

Have rang 'someone' and she has basically said there is nothing she can do till my scan, so it is back to hurry up and wait really. Have already lost any little confidence I had in them though. I say I rang someone, because I haven't got a clue who I spoke to, I thought I would ring the doctors first just to see if the midwife was there, she said to ring the community number for the midwives, rang that someone picked up and said she would put me through to the midwife, someone else picked up and said she would put me through to antenatel day care, someone else picked up and said she would put me through to EPU, then she came back and said the number was busy so to ring either this number or the main hospital switch board and ask for EPU, rang the first number and someone from Blackburn College picked up?????? So rang the main switch and asked for EPU, someone picked up and put me through to EPU, and then I told her what was happening, she said to ring my GP, I asked her what he would do and she said, "well I don't know but we can't do anything for you" So obviously no point in going to my GP, if someone at what I think ended up being EPU can't tell me what is going on, then I don't think a GP can!!

Mummy2Toby · 12/05/2006 12:25

NJ - is there any history of twins in your family?
Sorry - will try to catch up with everyone properly soon but congrats Harrogatemum on your scan and big sunny cuddles to everybody else Smile

MommyUpNorth · 12/05/2006 12:27

Hi all! Haven't been keeping up too well with the messages, but thought I'd start posting again with news that I had my 12 week scan today. They've moved my due date up a few days to the 21st, and to be honest I was just feeling soooo relieved to see the little guy/gal moving all about! With absolutely no symtoms yet, I was really getting myself worked up.

Not fully in the clear yet as she started taking measurements of something else that wasn't the baby. At first she thought it might be a fibroid, but then she was asking if I've had a lot of bleeding... but I haven't had any. She thinks maybe it might be a rupture or bleed or something... I don't think she could of been any more vague! But it doesn't seem to be on or near the baby or placenta, so it looks to be a totally separate thing. I have to go back on the 30th for another scan to see if they can determine what it might be. I hope time passes quickly until then as I hate thinking about these things!

Well at least some good news with the new due date it puts me a little over 12 weeks and that's me through the first trimester! :)

NatalieJane · 12/05/2006 12:31

Mummy2Toby, my Mum's Aunt (so my Grans sister) had non-identical twins, don't really know if that would be counted as 'a history' though... I mean, I don't know if it is too far back for it to turn up again.

Mummy2Toby · 12/05/2006 13:03

NJ - that would count Wink My Mums mum (my nan)had twins and I was told that it would skip a generation e.g my mum and that her children (me and my sis) may well have twins Shock but we both have singletons and this pg is only a single - at least that's what the scan said Grin
