Hi Catty, I can't get DD3 of the boob either, still feeding twice a day sometimes four times. She also wakes in the night for a feed, not that she needs it it's the comfort etc but DH has exam today for his masters and after that we are gonna sort out her sleep! With the intention of cutting down/stopping during the day too. She's 13 months so it's no big deal if I stop now.
I read in a pg mag that there's this website called birthpoolinabox.co.uk or it might have been .com where you can get a birth pool quite cheap (apparently) didn't check it out though. Might be of use?

HopingCat · 15/05/2006 09:13

I just wanted to say to people who've not yet met their midwife that mine was lovely. I've found a lot of other people in the medical profession a bit more unhelpful but the midwife team here have been great. My only complaint was that I didn't see mw until 11 weeks so felt like nothing was really happening until then. She did bloods at this appointment, and I don't need to see her again now until 24 weeks. I haven't heard heartbeat but she said I could make a 16 week appointment if I wanted to hear it, which I will do next week.

One of my friends is also pg and she had bloods done at hospital at same time as her 12 week scan. It's the same hospital as mine, so it must be different GPs that make the difference round here.

NatalieJane · 15/05/2006 09:26

Hiya HC, how are you?

Well, I have decided that my midwife isn't going to do anything so all I can do is wait for the scan and relax about it all. I haven't asked for the HIV or hep B(???) test because I had them last time, but everything else can apparently change, like your rubella protection, it has been five years since I was last tested for that (in my last pregnancy), so I would think there is a fair chance that your immunity could be affected in that time, maybe?

Esmummy · 15/05/2006 10:04

My midwife is lovely too, pqin in the arse to get hold of sometimes but ho hum, i'm crap with mobiles too.
Had my midwife appt. at 12+2 where i had my intial bloods which is for HIV etc, blood pressure etc but that was it, was in and out in a flash. Have another appt. 6th June and she said I can ehar babies heartbeat then.

6th June is the anniversary of FIL's death so DP wont be at work and he is going to come with me and hear the heartbeat. I think its lovely that on such a horrible day we get to hear something so special. When i pregnant with DD we found out i was expectng on FIL's birthday which was lovely too :)

mygirllolipop · 15/05/2006 10:55

Ooh I have an apt for when I'm 16wks (2wks time) so I wonder if that is to hear the HB, never heard it before 12wk scan before and not that bothered as have seen it twice on scans and much more relaxed about things. But it would be nice.

HopingCat · 15/05/2006 12:10

Hi NJ,
I'm not too bad. My cold/cough bug has almost gone thankfully. Can't believe it's lasting so long but at least I'm well enough to be back at work now. I will certainly be careful to avoid everything I can from here onwards. I knew my immune system was lower in pregnancy but I didn't expect a cold to knock me out so badly.

I'm getting impatient now about wanting to feel the baby move. I don't really know where abouts in my growing belly the baby actually is so have no idea where I would be feeling anything.

NatalieJane · 15/05/2006 12:20

You just make sure you take it easy HC, especially going back to work.

A lot of people have been suffering from hayfever this year that wouldn't do normally (me included!) so maybe that is adding to it as well?

If it helps any, I can feel the baby in the lower left hand side and the higher right side, I don't know if every baby is in the same place or not at the start but that is where I can feel movements.

harrogatemum · 15/05/2006 13:17

Hi all - just wondering if anyone has had any acupuncture at all to stop sickness? I am 12 weeks now but still as sick as a dog and going on hols on Saturday - last pregnancy it lasted until 17 weeks so am worried that the holiday will be ruined if I feel like this permanently. If anyone has please let me know how you felt/how it went etc!?

Jen1209 · 15/05/2006 17:20

Hi all,

Just had a quick catch up as I have been away this weekend on a Company do. Party on Saturday night followed by "team building excersises" on Sunday morning (actually, they were much more fun than they sound!) Am so tired now as didn't get to bed until 1.00 am on the Saturday night and then my friend who came with me woke me up at 1.30 when he came in (yes a he, DP was fine as friend is gay!) and crashed about before passing out, then throwing up in his sleep (nice) However, a good time was had by all!!!

Sickness appears to have gone now (fingers crossed) sorry to hear about those who are still suffering... Harrogatemum, don't know a lot about acupuncture for sickness but someone else might?

Hope all ok, spinach, hope things are improving for you.

fatbetty · 15/05/2006 17:45

Harrogatemum, I'm going to have acupuncture done on the 5th of June but it's not really for ms. I'm feeling much better with my ms (but if you ask me again in a few hours my response will be very different as I feel yucky the moment I put the kids to bed!). I thought I would give acupuncture a try as I lost my hearing in my right ear in November and while I did have some hearing come back with different steriod treatments, since I've been pregnant hearing is back to 0%. I've also been experiencing back pain, which I also had when pg with ds2, and thought I would see if that would help. Also can help with energy levels.

I've read that acupuncture can help with ms. It's worth a shot if you really are struggling. I think I would give it a go if you found that nothing else helps. I'll let you know how it goes after my appt.

saralou100 · 15/05/2006 19:59

hi guys!!! how does any one keep up with this, i don't know where to begin reading, tried but i'm now confused (not that it's hard to do)

can't believe how time is starting to fly by.. had to count up the weeks on a calender the other day to check i hadn't got confusd about it, but i really am gonna be 12 weeks this week!! can't believe it!! gonna see midwife on fri to 'book in' i really want her to listen to heartbeat, but i know some madwives don't like to before 14weeks cause its difficult so we'll have to wait and see.. with ds i heard heartbeat at 12weeks but he did keep wriggling away.... i'm also gonna see one of my colleagues who used to be a madwife to get her to predict flavour, she called it at 12 weeeks with ds so ihave complete faith in her powers of prediction.. my hospital don't tell and i'm no good with suprises!!! does anyone else want to find out before?? :o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o

Debbsy · 15/05/2006 21:03

hi ladies can i join you please? i was on the dec thread, but i have been for my 12 week scan today and they have moved me to 27th nov.Saw babe it was beautiful got some really clear pics too x

Mummy2Toby · 16/05/2006 00:12

Hi everyone - can I ask a question? I went to the doctors today (about a non pg matter) and he asked me if I had heard the heartbeat yet ..... I said that although I had seen it on the scan 4 weeks ago, I hadn't actually heard it - so he tried ....... but he couldn't find it Shock he said it was still a bit early to hear it? I am 16 weeks now, so I thought it could be heard by now.
Those of you that have heard the heartbeats, how far were you and was it heard on one of the hand held dopplers? I am just getting a bit paranoid now Sad I am sure I can feel bubs but after this afternoon keep thinking it's just windBlush
I have another hospital appt on Thursday (16 week check) so I think I will explain to them then - maybe they will be able to find the heartbeat or if not maybe even scan me again. Sorry if I am being a worry wart but I just needed to check with those of you who have heard the heartbeat.

YummyMummy87 · 16/05/2006 00:32

This must be really worrying for you.
I heard the heartbeat first at 14 weeks with my daughter. But it couldnt be found for a while as the placenta was infront of her...this could be the case with you? Its quite rare for something to of happened to your baby at this stage and have no other signs so lets hope that is the case, eh? Awww at least you have the teeny movements, Im due nov and dont have them yet.....

NatalieJane · 16/05/2006 08:09

Mummy2Toby, if you are really worried ring your midwife and explain, she might be able to fit you in for five minutes so she can have a good old rummage for the heartbeat!

I am sure it is fine, don't forget GP's won't normally be well practised at finding a heartbeat, be reassured that you can feel the baby move, and that you are fine in yourself.

MeAndMyBoy · 16/05/2006 08:41

Debbsy - welcome to the November thread Grin glad the scan went well hun.

Mummy2Toby - don't worry too much easier to say than do I know. Finding the heartbeat at this stage is a real art and because LO has so much space to move around in it can take a while to find it. A friend was told that she couldn't be any more than 10 weeks cause they couldn't find the heartbeat and she was actually 13+ but the baby was hiding behind her pelvis so they couldn't hear it, even later on it can still take a while.

I know Thursday is a long way off but can you wait til then? if not call the on call M/wife.

Hope you're less worried today.

H x

Jen1209 · 16/05/2006 08:56

Hey Debbsy, welcome to the thread! Can't believe you are 12 weeks already :o They brought me forward last week too so am actually 13 + 3 today... Are you feeling less sick yet or are you still suffering?

NatalieJane · 16/05/2006 09:10

Sorry was in a bit of a daze this morning (DS wouldn't eat his toast, had to get him out to nursery, only just made it on time...) Welcome Debbsy :) Glad the scan went well :o

Delia · 16/05/2006 10:42

Hi All

Welcome Debsy always good to have another person around!

Mummytotobby i heard my little ones heartbeat yesterday and am 15+3, it took the midwife a while to find it as bump kept moving, she did warn me at the start that she might not be able to find it though so i should'nt think you have anything to worry about.

Is anyone else struggling getting round and sitting? i am on near enough constant bedrest since Sunday as my hips are killing me, my mw has refered me for physio but feel a bit stupid ringinig into work cause i can't sit for long!

Debbsy · 16/05/2006 12:24
