Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
joules1234 · 03/05/2006 13:22

Hi Fatbetty

I was supposed to have my appointment last week at the surgery, but it got canx. My MW then rang up and said she would come to our house! I live in the country in Yorkshire so it might vary place to place x

Esmummy · 03/05/2006 13:23

I had both of my booking in apointments with my midwife at home, standard practice round here i think.

Delia · 03/05/2006 14:53

I had my booking appointment at home also although all we did was fill in the green book, my mw said everything else would be done either at the hospital or my surgery.

Asda do some really good maternity wear but they tend to only do it in the asda-walmart stores as far as i'm aware - as a warning thought the range changes really fast so if you see something you like but don't think you'll fit into it yet it might just be getting it for later cause outherwise it will be gone when you go back (they also do long leg in the trousers - yipee)

mygirllolipop · 03/05/2006 15:53

I found that with Asda, sometimes the mat stuff there sometimes not. Would love the excel spread sheet if you can forward it, my email is mygirllolipop at hotmail dot com.
I've had a MW come out for the booking in visits for DD2 and 3 and DD3 when we moved area and I was booked in again. Worth asking if they can come to you at the beginning/end of their surgery.
I have never heard hb's at scans and was told I would only be able to listen to HB after the 20wk scan.
As for the stitching I've heard a lot of ppl talking about 'stretching' where we're getting bigger!

staceym11 · 03/05/2006 20:44

Hi everyone, thanks for all the lovely messages, mush bettter now that it has settled in a bit, was in shock yesterday i think!

Was so hot today and tomo supposed to be worse, gunna have to go into my flip flops boots are just too damn hot what with being pg and it being hot! spent my whole pg with dd in flip flops, if my feet get too hot i get dizzy and faint which is never fun!

well i hope my ms is going, but il go 4/5 days without any and then spend a whole day being sick which isnt fun, but at least atm dp is home so dd isnt left on her own too much as she hates it!

spending most my time convincing her shes a big girl and she doesnt need her buggy and can walk atm, still really dont want a double buggy!!

oh and spoke to my mw about having the baby at the hospital i had dd and she said it would be ok and just not to tell the gp about the move until after its happened but ask to stay under their care. i dont really mind chinging to a different midwife team after the birth too much as i never saw the same midwife twice in my first pg anyway!

right i have rattled on enough! hope everyone is ok and again thank you for the lovely messages!

LadyAnne1stTimeMum · 04/05/2006 07:56

Hi all

folk keep telling me that lots of MS is the sign of a healthy PG - doesn't feel that healthy at moment...

mygirllolipop · 04/05/2006 10:07

Another one here with a touch of MS, I naively thought it was gone. It seems it is going but keeps popping up to remind me. Dh got day off 2moro for scan.

wannaBe1974 · 04/05/2006 10:08

hi all :)

sorry to intrude, hope you are all well and that your pg's are going well :)

I was just wondering if anyone has an email address or any other contact details for NatallieJane? She's not been online since Friday and I know she had her mw appointment on Tuesday. She's a regular on the ttc chat thread and we're getting worried about her as it's unlike her to not be online.

If anyone has a email address for her could you let her know that jen/wannabe etc hope she's ok?

Thanks,

((hugs))) to all :)

mygirllolipop · 04/05/2006 10:20

Sorry wannabe she's not given her email out on here so I don't think any of us have it. Hope she's OK and it's just an innocent prob with her computer/internet or something.

HopingCat · 04/05/2006 15:53

Can anyone describe what it's like when you feel the baby move? I'm 14+3 so know that as a first time mum I'm unlikely to be able to feel anything yet, but I was thin before I got pg and I've got a big bump already so wondered if I might feel things earlier too. I'm getting some odd little moving pains very low down at the bottom of my bump a couple of times a day. It's not a fluttery feeling, and it is pain rather than the sort of feeling you get when your stomach rumbles when you are hungry. It could just be stretching I suppose.

Any ideas?

mygirllolipop · 04/05/2006 16:24

I've always felt my babies move before 'they' say you can so I'd take that with a pinch of salt! IIRC I felt DD1 at about 14 wks, altho it wasn't like pain. It was like flutterings (it's really hard to describe) and like something moving inside you that you don't control. I know this sounds like a crap explanation but I'm hard pushed to find anyone who can actually describe it!
TBH I'm sure I can feel this one moving occasionally, it happens when I've a full bladder and that must push my uterus nearer my skin so I can have a feel.
Oh and DD3 is taking her first tentative steps! Hoorah!

velcrobott · 04/05/2006 16:28

Yeah I think can feel mine too occasionally... it doesn't seem to be "wind" or bowel action. I am 13 weeks and was told I would quite definitely feel baby by 14 or 15 weeks (3rd time mum though).

spinach · 04/05/2006 18:53

I can def feel mine, and have done for a couple of weeks...I'm 13 now... Its a weird feeling, not a 'kicking' or fluttering... just movement. Def not painful though... Its lovely!

Havent seen Natalie Jane either... very unusual for her not to be posting, she does most days, hope nothing is wrong.

Just wanted to say good luck to all those who have scan tomorrow.

MeAndMyBoy · 04/05/2006 20:02

HopingCat I felt DS at 15 weeks and he was my first - I'm thin too, and I have felt this one already - 14wks today. Made me a laugh, when I was pg with DS my SIL told me there was no way i could possibly feel the baby yet as usually you can't feel them until nearer 20 weeks and then the next day I had a madwives appointment and the first thing she asked was had I felt it yet. This time they are telling me again it's far too soon, even joked I should contact the guiness book of records because it's so early! So it's entirely possible that you can feel it already.

saralou100 · 04/05/2006 20:19

hi everyone!!!! met my madwife today, she is so lovely!!!! was a bit worried about this as last one with ds was mean uninformative and very unhelpful!!! gonna have booking in app in 2 weeks, she'll be coming to my house for this which is also fab... and even better i get a scan at 12 wks which i wasn't expectecting, apparently they've changed the rules since ds was born, so i'm very excited to be seeing the lo so soon!!

as for feeling baby move, i felt ds around 16/17wks... it's an undescribable feeling but you just know what it is... so if thats what you'r thinking it is, it probably is... that sentence makes complete sense to me :o can't wait to feel this one, especially the little flutters, so much more pleasant than a foot lodged in your rib for 3 days (of misery)

fatbetty · 04/05/2006 20:53

Hope you all were out enjoying the lovely hot weather! Took the kids to the park and completely wore me out for the rest of the afternoon. I'm so exhausted now and heading to bed shortly.

Got a letter about my scan and they have moved it back to Saturday the 13th (it was on the 10th). Rather annoyed as I have my in-laws coming down tomorrow and arranged for them to stay until that day so they could watch the kids (the letter suggests that you don't bring your children). Ugh! I'm going to call in the morning to see if I can get in sooner if poss.

Has anybody done acupuncture while pregnant? Have been thinking of seeing one for my hearing but not sure if you can do it while pg.

LadyAnne1stTimeMum · 05/05/2006 07:54

Hi all hope you are well.
re: Acupuncture - just make sure Acupuncturist is very experienced and knows what they are doing - I'm going to get Reflexology when I've got some time free (DP is sorting it) -I'm looking forward to it.

twocatsonthebed · 05/05/2006 09:14

Morning all, hope everyone's feeling well. Wish I was - 14+1 and still feeling sick, although I have got a bit more energy now.

LadyAnne - I had reflexology to help with conception (worked too!) and she said not to have any reflexology at all in the first trimester, but it's fine after that.

And I can definitely feel something too - even though I'm a first timer and so in theory shouldn't! Like being tickled very gently from the inside...

How's everyone else? The weather's gorgeous here.

fatbetty · 05/05/2006 09:26

Got my scan rearranged for Thursday next week - so happy with that. I can't wait for it. I've been feeling okay during the last week or so but still a bit yucky at times. I think it's just that I'm tired and need some sleep. Inlaws are down today and they usually take over doing everything for me - bliss!! Will definately take advantage of that!!

How does one find a acupuncturist?

Better go finish cleaning my house before in-laws arrive. Have a great day!

velcrobott · 05/05/2006 09:39

Fatbelly - ask your MW (or GP) if she can recommend an accupuncturist.
Where is it sunny ... it's grey here Sad

twocatsonthebed · 05/05/2006 09:49

lovely and sunny down in somerset!

calsworld · 05/05/2006 10:08

Morning all, beautiful day here in the midlands. I've been for my scan and seen lo - but they've moved my dates back. I thought I was 11/1 but measurements say 10 weeks today exactly. Bit puzzled about it as my LMP dates are accurate. But regardless, everything is fine and I can relax a bit now....hopefully! New due date is 01 Dec, but I'd like to stay here if that's OK?

pinkmagic1 · 05/05/2006 10:16

Had dating scan yesterday and everything is fine, so I can relax and enjoy my holiday now. My dates where spot on with the babies size so my due date remains 5th November.
I have been feeling occasional movement for almost 3 weeks now, not every day yet, but definitely baby and not wind!
