Sorry to hear about your mums dog Sad.

Initially i agreed with others, not to tell them.

But do you feel confident to make the decision of what happens to the body on their behalf? I assume you have taken it to the vets already?

Jen1209 · 02/05/2006 18:51

Hi all

Stacey, so sorry to hear your news. I would def leave it until your Mum was either on her way home or actually home. My dog died whilst I was on holiday and my mum didn't tell me until I was home and I did appreciate not having the holiday spoilt (sorry, that sounds harsh but I know how hard it must be)

Re mat clothes: I have a formal works do to attend next weekend (13th / 14th May). I had bought a beautiful dress from Ebay which fitted fine (even a little big) but now doesn't fit (tried it on yesterday and cried and cried when it wouldn't do up). Does anyone know where to get smart mat clothes from as I looked in Debenhams and Dotty P today and they are all in a very casual t-shirt material which won't do. Am so p*ed off with the other dress not fitting - it was a beautiful Chinese silk dress in scarlet with gold stitching :( Although as DP said "wouldn't you rather have the bump" - which is a very good point! :o

spinach · 02/05/2006 21:59

I actually ate prper meals today for he first time in months! cereal for breakfast instead of biscuits... and two, large cooked meals! I really hope this meals the ms is fading out... have begun to feel better over the last week.... still cant face cooking though.

Gotta buy some maternity clothes... my trousers are digging in... I put on some maternity trousers i had from last time and they made me look enormous! didnt realise i had wuite such a bump... or maybe its cos i've eaten well today!

Hope everyone is okay.

Stacey, I agree with everybody regarding telling your mum when they are on their way back home. What a terrible situation!!

Had salmon last night for dinner and found out that I'm completely off of it. Yuck, yuck, yuck. Doesn't help now that my house still smells of it. I'm trying to boil some vinegar to get rid of the smell, but that smell is making me sick too!

I thought I would wear my new maternity trousers today and it feels so nice and comfortable. Only thing is that I feel like everytime I bend over the entire world can seem my exposed bottom (which isn't true because there is plenty of stretchy fabric there to cover it. Just not used to the looseness.

velcrobott · 03/05/2006 09:05

Am wearing my new maternity tyrowsers Smile
So comfy!!!

The MW who delivered my 1st 2 children called me this AM to say that she and her colleague (who was also at both my labours) were hoping to do this 3rd birth too.... there are complication as one of them now lives over 1h away but they were spontaneously offering to do my birth in November... I was delighted to hear they are so committed !!!! So that cheers me no end Smile

Spinach - glad to hear you feel better!!!!

Esmummy · 03/05/2006 09:16

All of you in maternity clothes, how many weeks are you ?
I definitely need to be wearing something other than some of my usual clothes but feel like a bit of a fraud wearing maternity clothes already. Should i just go for the next size up for the time being.

fatbetty · 03/05/2006 09:28

I'm only 12 weeks and can't believe it myself that I'm wearing maternity clothes this early. I didn't show with my other 2 pg until 16 weeks.

mygirllolipop · 03/05/2006 09:51

Sunny here today and found I still fit into my shorts. Although I can only fit into my 'loose' or 'bigger' clothes. I've eaten loads of treats lately (prob cos haven't been managing a full meal) but have still lost weight, prob why I still just mamnage to fit into normal clothes. Getting excited and nervous for scan on Fri.

joules1234 · 03/05/2006 10:01

Morning Everyone

Hope we are all feeling better. Smile My trousers are a bit tight, so not fastening them up! I work from home so Im still in my dressing gown at the mo! Ive had a look on ebay for mat wear, and will probably go shopping soon, my friend is a shopoholic and cant wait to shop for mat wear!

I met my midwife yesterday for 1st time, and heard babies heart beat, it was so amazing as this is my 1st and it makes it all real! Grin My 1st scan is next tues, cant wait to see the photo!

Harrogatemum - I live in your area, but having mine in Northallerton, although my midwife is from Harrogate, she`s called Jill x

calsworld · 03/05/2006 10:02

Mygirllollipop - my scan is Friday too, am both excited and nervous also. Though I'm sure we'll both be fine! Must remember to take HopingCat's advice and not drink too much water!!Smile

calsworld · 03/05/2006 10:04

joules1234 - looks like the end of ms might be in sight - am with you on the undone button syndrome!

Am jealous you've heard heartbeat - serves me right for booking in with the midwife so early! Anyone know if I'll get to hear it whilst we're having the scan done?

calsworld · 03/05/2006 10:06

Anyone heard from Nataliejane?

Tinasan · 03/05/2006 10:09

Hi all,

Hope everyone is feeling better today, at least the sun is shining! I've a question about my bump - I've had a bad stich-like pain in my left side for 2 days now. Does anyone else have anything like this, is it just the bump growing?

Esmummy - I was 14 weeks yesterday and have been wearing maternity clothes for a fortnight. My tummy is enormous, apparently I look more like 5 months, but I have a very small frame. I went out maternity clothes shopping on Saturday with a friend who is a couple of weeks ahead of me and she is not showing at all - so I think we come in all shapes and sizes really!

I've updated myself on the list with my revised due date - I've had 3 scans now and they've all said the same date so roll on Hallowe'en!

Delia · 03/05/2006 10:12

Friday seems to be the day for scans as mine is in the afternoon!

I have been in maternity clothes for the last 4 weeks now, my mum keeps telling me its all gas! Blush (charming).

Debbsy · 03/05/2006 10:15

just wanted to wish Amyjade the very best of luck.

Delia · 03/05/2006 10:17

Tinasan i have had the same thing, it seems to last a couple of days and then goes away and comes back somewhere else so i'm thinking the same as you. was going to ask my consultant on Friday just to settle my mind, will let you know unless anyone else answers the question first!

MeAndMyBoy · 03/05/2006 11:04

I'm joining the stitch camp too - just started this morning, almost took my breath away it hurt so much, but has subsided now. Think it's probably just stuff moving round and adjusting.

14 weeks tomorrow :)

Tinasan · 03/05/2006 11:21

Delia and MeAndMyBoy - sorry you're both feeling the stitch pain too but I'm glad I'm not the only one!

Another question for everyone - I have my first midwife appointment on Thursday, she's coming round to my house which is really nice. Will she check for the heartbeat and will we be able to hear it at just over 14 weeks?

Kif · 03/05/2006 11:25

My scan is Friday morning.

I'm bursting to announce.

Then again, being on MN at work might give the gave away... Grin

HopingCat · 03/05/2006 12:50

Hi all,

Tinasan - my midwife told me I could make an appointment with her from 16 weeks onwards to hear heartbeat. I've had scans at 11 and 13+4 weeks and have not heard heartbeat yet. If you do hear heartbeat at your MW appointment please let me know and I'll go and see mine. I can't wait to hear it! Grin

On the subject of clothes I've been told that George do very good value maternity wear but I've not found it in my local Asda. Also I have heard Matalan do maternity underwear which is cheaper than paying £30 per bra at Mothercare. I've not looked yet so don't know if this is true.

I'm wearing next size up clothing at the moment because all maternity stuff seems to be too big still. My problem is tops - nothing seems long enough - but New Look have got very long summer tops in now so I'm going to buy a couple this afternoon to try.

joules1234 · 03/05/2006 12:50

Hi Tinasan

This is my 1st and my mid wife came to our home yesterday, I`m just over 11 weeks and heard my baby heart beat! Its the best thing ever! I have my scan next Tuesday so cant wait to see the picture! Good Luck hope you can hear as well Smile

HopingCat · 03/05/2006 12:56

I'm updating the stats because my scan last week dated me 6 days ahead of where I think I am. I think this is impossible, as a conceived using Persona machine so know when I ovulated. The scan says I conceived a week before I ovulated! Maybe it is just a big baby (oh no!).

I had a problem with my tops riding up. Couple this with the fact that I can now only fit into my v. low slung 'hipster' jeans, meant that I was sharing a little too much of my paunch with the world.

I went to Dorothy Perkins, and now am very, very happy. Really liked their tops - very cool and flattering. At 10-20 pounds each I treated myself to 3 - a vest, a polka dot top smart emough for work and a brown thing that looks much better on me than it did on the hanger. Highly recomended. I can't believe how much better you can feel wearing new, properly fitting clothes.

I'm also in maternity trousers - tbh I'm not big enough for them yet... but I swore I wouldn't start wearing clothes a size up... I did that last time for months, until i realised it was making me look fat all over, rather than preganant.

Re: ASDA, I phoned their helpline to ask about which stores stocked it. The lady sent me an excel spreadsheet. Unfortunately, I don't have windows, so can't open it. Would be happy to forward it - or you can call yourself the number on their website.

fatbetty · 03/05/2006 13:10

How do you get your mw to come and do visits at your house? Did you have a choice? I've always had to go into the clinic for these appointments and it would be so much easier to have the mw come to me rather than towing two kids into the clinic.

I've started raiding my husband's closest for his tshirts.
