Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Esmummy · 01/05/2006 10:10

Amyjade, so ou wont specifically remember me but i followed you threads a few months ago about Freya and trying to make people more aware of what she suffered. So pleased you are here, will be lovely for DD2 to have a baby brother or sister :)

Delia · 01/05/2006 12:03

Hi all

hope everyone is enjoying their bank holiday break and getting lots of much needed rest.

I'm sitting at work stuffing envelopes (yawn).

Does anyone else find that about half hour after they have eaten that they feel really tired and could probably do well to lie down for a couple of hours?

harrogatemum · 01/05/2006 18:22

Hi ladies - have booked my 12 week scan - its on 11th May, am so excited, I will tell the world at large once i have seen the evidence for myself!

Whilst I am still in my normal clothes - I am starting to think about maternity clothes as I borrowed the majority last time I was pregnant and so have nothing to speak of this time round. Last time it was really only H&M and Dorothy Perkins that did maternity clothes. So I would love to hear any recommendations of good places for maternity clothes - cheap as this is the last time I plan to be pregnant! So high street only plus I am 5 foot 11 with a 36 inch inside leg so I really struggle as it is with trousers - last time I had one pair of Mothercare jeans that saw me through practically the last 5 months - they could walk by themselves by the end!!!

saralou100 · 01/05/2006 19:48

hi everyone... been a busy little bee the last few days, i'm starting to feel ready to join the human race again... ms is virtually gone and the narcolepsy not so bad, although i could still do with an afternoon nap some days ds won't entertain this idea!!! am starting to feel really bloated at the end of the day and uncomfortable, my belly is growing - scarily it looks bigger now than i did at 4 months with ds, have had to wear maternity uniform trousers but i didn't start wearing them until i was about 16 wks last time!! i'll be 10 weeks wednesday!

work has been ok, for the most their wonderful i have discovered!!! decided not to go down the confrontational route but use subtlety instead to get my point across!! spoke to another colleague yeasterday, admittedly i laid it on a bit thick about how ill i was but she was suprised that i had actually been ill.. good news at work another colleague is pg with her 1st (i'm not allowed to tell anyone yet, so i'm telling you guys to get it out of my system - lousy with secrets!) i was so happy for her i cried (damn hormones!)

another point on those damn hormones, mummytotoby i have also been having naughty dreams, had one the other night about a colleague... but he's really weedy looks about 12, not a lot of personality and so not my type... i just could not look him (or dp) in the eye the next day.. it was hot!!! Shock Blush :o whilst pg with ds i was a horny little devil though, i could not get enough sex, hope that happens again :o:o:o:o

twocatsonthebed · 01/05/2006 21:27

hello everyone,

haven't been around for a bit as still feeling rough, despite being 13+4, sick and exhausted and frankly a bit bored of the whole thing. (and Delia, yes I am indeed crashing out after almost every meal, even breakfast!)

But welcome to Amyjade - very sorry to hear about Freya and I hope that this pregnancy brings you joy. Sarahlou - glad work are being a bit sensible. And welcome back fatbetty!

The only consolation I have is that I'm still in my normal jeans (it's my tops that are causing issues because of my incredible expanding bust). Does anyone have any advice on when I might need some proper maternity clothes, as a first-timer? A friend of mine advised buying them mail order, but given that I look odd in 90% of clothes even when not pregnant, this seems a bit risky...anyone done it?

mygirllolipop · 02/05/2006 09:03

Delia - I don't even get to 30 mins after meal I need sleep during it! Honestly I can't eat a whole meal without feeling tired and need to sleep straight afetrwards.
Harrogatemum (and 2cats): For maternity clothes (high street) there's H&M and DP like you said and personally I find them best. There's mothercare, next, topshop, asda. If you buy a pg mag there's loadsa web sites too, most are really expensive. then there's thematernityexchange.com or is that co.uk? Where you sell your old mat clothes and pg ppl like us buy them. So we can buy clothes cheap now and sell them after and we haven't spend as much on the clothes. Also eBay sell bundles of mat clothes mostly high st store names worth hundreds but they go for around £50 for a full wardrobe. Only prob might be height. I'm a short @rse so not a prob for me unless I want shorts, 3/4, or trousers with say embroidery on the bottom then I can't take them up! Alternatively think about starting a thread about needing tall mat clothes. I'm sure loads of other MNers have hte same probleem or will have. HTH

Esmummy · 02/05/2006 09:11

Also New Look and Marks & Spencers have just launched their new maternity ranges. There is some on M&S website ut New Look is only availale in certain stores.

MeAndMyBoy · 02/05/2006 09:24

I'm in maternity stuff sooner than I was with the first one, in my maternity suit today for the first time and I'm 13+5 but it's such a relief the clothes are so much more comfortable than walking round with my trousers undone Blush too much of a cheap skate there.

Buy maternity stuff when you need it - even if it is sooner than you think you should. If you get stuff that has the adjustable bands I found that they fitted me even when my bump was fairly small.
Might be worth going round a few shops to try stuff on and then order it mail order?

My bust has decided to almost double in size it feels like and I'm leaking already!!! None of my tops are long enough now so I've been flashing my undone trousers to the world oops.

Esmummy · 02/05/2006 10:23

WAHOOOOOO :) :) :) Just got my scan date through for 17th May, I will be 13+3. Am so pleased, just wanted to get the date so i know i've got a date to look forward too.
And it's the day before DP goes away so just in the nick of time :)

MeAndMyBoy · 02/05/2006 11:49

That's fantastic news Esmummy - good timing too.

I just wanted to share this with everyone - I felt the baby move!! I was fairly sure I'd felt it a couple of times before, but this morning there was no mistake Grin

Esmummy · 02/05/2006 11:51

Fab MAMB. Was it like the little pops of air inside? Cannot wait to feel the baby start moving.

MeAndMyBoy · 02/05/2006 12:05

Not this time - I've had that before though, it was several definate hit's or kick's but very gently.

Esmummy · 02/05/2006 12:07

Ahh how sweet, cannot wait.
How many weeks are you ?

My tummy feels really heavy and achey during the night and when i wake up in the mornings, I wondered if i had maybe been rolling over onto my tummy in the night.

calsworld · 02/05/2006 12:55

Hi everyone, been out of it for a few days so welcome to Amyjade and congrats to Mygirllollipop - can't wait till I hit that magic date too! Smile

I've been on antidepressants and doctor changed my prescription just over a week ago as concerned about potential effects - resulted in a week of throwing up, intense headaches and utter exhaustion!

Feeling much better today and even surviving at work which feels great - I was worried people would think I was milking the whole pregnancy thing, but so far no-one at work knows so will see what happens.

I've got my scan on Friday and the nerves are beginning to fade and excitement is beginning to kick in, which I'm pleased about - I was getting worried about the fact that I couldn't get excited...does that sound silly?

Also, despite being on 1st pg and only 10 weeks, 5 days, I have bought my first pair of maternity trousers and a large pair of trousers for work! Shock Shopped in Jojomamanbebe and they were lovely, but a little pricey so won't be getting whole wardrobe from there!

Anyway, enough from me - big hugs to all, hope you're having a good day too Wink

velcrobott · 02/05/2006 12:58

Sorry to hear about all those miscarriages..... I did worry for me too but I'm still here.
Well I'm off to do some clothes shopping this afternoon too.
Just called MW and will get my 1st appointment on 30/5 will be nearly 17 weeks but I'm relaxed (now!) it's my 3rd. Not having a scan anyway.

fatbetty · 02/05/2006 13:05

For those who have bought maternity clothes online or through mags, how do they fit? I tried on some maternity clothes that looked great on the hanger and looked terrible on. Luckily my jeans still fit (or are stretching out enough) but shirts I'm struggling with as they are creeping up over my bump. Very uncomfortable. Any good places for tshirts? The maternity clothes I do have are all too big at the moment - give it another couple of months and I'll be set!

twocatsonthebed · 02/05/2006 13:29

fatbetty - I've got some vests and tshirts from Gap which are nice and long and so don't leave too much exposed. Just their ordinary stuff, but I'm wearing a size up from normal. Also a friend of mine was pregnant last year and got some great maternity vests from Topshop- and she's still wearing them now, so I guess they're not too baggy!

staceym11 · 02/05/2006 14:10

hi everyone, not in a very good state today, my mums german shepard died this morning, while im house sitting and shes in america for her 25th wedding anniversary! feel like shit and just cant seem to do anything. sorry this post is so depressing, will prob be back when iv made some sense of things!

Esmummy · 02/05/2006 14:10

Oh no Stacey. How horrible, i wouldn't even know where to begin. :(

staceym11 · 02/05/2006 14:13

i just cant work it out, she was fine, at least i was up (dd had terrible night) so i found her ill rather than just coming down in the morning and finding she'd died, but i cant get hold of my mum as they are touring, and i dotn know wether to tell her anyway and ruin her holiday, its all a bit messed up!

Esmummy · 02/05/2006 14:14

How much longer have the got to their trip ?
If it were me i would probably leave it and tell them when they were on their lastday or something so you weren't ruining anything but at least they knew before arriving back home.

mygirllolipop · 02/05/2006 14:16

Forgot to say earlier that I got a dress mail order from Next aand size was OK, if you know what size in Next you would normally take. Have also got some stuff from Blooming Marvellous, Jojo and Vertbaudet online (sale items!) and fit was OK. altho as said earlier BM was long on me but I expect that everywhere! I can nearly get away with wearing 3/4 length as full length Blush. I am living in loose clothes atm, I will be sooooooooooo fed up of my mat wardrobe after wearing nothing else for months that I want to put off it as long as poss, saying that I am living in less clothes now than I have in my mat wardrobe!

mygirllolipop · 02/05/2006 14:18

Stacey sorry missed your posts, agree with emsmummy tell them on last day so not spoiling hols but they'll be prepared for it when they get back.

pinkmagic1 · 02/05/2006 16:00

Got a couple of bargin maternity tops from my local next clearance shop the other day for £5 each!

staceym11 · 02/05/2006 16:01

yeah think thats best they still out there for another week yet, best to let them be i suppose.

as an answer to fatbettys question i brought maternity stuff online, off ebay acctually and just got my normal size and it all fitted fine, one of the tops is too short but the rest is fine. but im just ordinary height really so dunno if i would if i were short/tall!
