i must go get a bra fitting... i just hate it cos in M&S they always measure me as an A or B cup... I have always been a C or D, and when pregnant no way an A or B... but they insist they are right!

Morning everyone, hope you are all feeling well.

On the subject of bras - I was wondering when you are supposed to get fitted for maternity bras? I am still in my underwired one which I really don't want to give up. Is it a real no-no to wear an underwired bra through pregnancy?

eeyoreuk · 25/04/2006 07:06

hi all

had my nuchal scan and bloods yesterday - will get the results on thursday but consultant said he wa really happy and should have no problems.Grin
He was really nice when i said it wasw first pg and scan he spent ages showing me all the different body parts and organs.

But it looks like my date might change from 3rd nov to 30 oct.
starting to feel less sick now so hopefully it i nearly over

eeyore

Hello again - hope all is well. AFH - I was wearing an underwire bra until I was about 6 Weeks (I didn't know I was pregnant until then)- it was painful even then, which is why I trotted into MotherCare first available opportunity and got a maternity bra (though it looks like I may have to go up a bit) - they told me that underwires were a no no as it restricts the natural expansion of your boobs. All I know is that I felt a lot better with a proper bra. Sorry if my last message seemed abrupt, Toadstool DP pressed button to send whilst I nipped to loo. I really hope you are well and you have some good news again soon.
On subject of expansion - I'm seem a lot bigger than my weeks - apparently it could be a sign of twins (my lil sis has twins and a generation ago both sets of grandparents had twins, although they were still births or died shortly after - wartime pg care obviously not as good as today). What do others think? I'll see MW today so place your bets...

twocatsonthebed · 25/04/2006 08:59

yay eeyoreuk - that's great news about the nuchal. And about the feeling less sick, too. That's starting for me too - then I'm just going to worry about not feeling pregnant...

ladyanne/awayfromhome. I am still in underwires - as I started out as a 34F, I don't think I could bear nine months without. Opinions do seem to differ on this. I'm working on the principle that as long as it fits well, and the underwires are touching my body not my bust, it can't possibly do any harm (and it's possible to buy underwired maternity bras!). Afh, there's a whole lot of chat about this in the archives here, which I looked through before deciding.

and spinach - very relieved to hear that you are getting headaches too (sorry if that sounds a bit cruel!) but I've been having them too, really painful. And the last time I had headaches so bad was after my miscarriage, so starting to worry about them.

Hope everyone else is well!

awayfromhome · 25/04/2006 09:09

twocatsonthebed & LadyAnne1stTimeMum - thanks for the responses. I am loath to give up my underwired bra as I am a DD and frankly need all the support I can get Grin. I think that I will stick with it for now until I get back to the UK and then check out what are in the stores.

I can't seem to get the archived message search to work don't quite know why.

I spoke too soon about my sickness decreasing, have been feeling absolutely awful today - drinking ginger ale like water at the moment!!

saralou100 · 25/04/2006 09:16

so jealous of all you ladies having trouble with expanding boobsEnvy! mine don't seem to be aware of this complication of pg.. they never changed once during my 1st pg and only went up 1 cup size for about a week with bf! was a b cup before and i'm still a b cup now! i have found m&s always measure me wrong, the last time i had it done the woman measured me as a c cup (i wish) but even she said i don't look that size (sadly i'm not) you really need to let them fit the bra's for you aswell.

my headaches are getting really bad now, i can't stand for long periods of time cause i'm coming over all dizzy.. and i'm certainly eating and drinking well, so it's not a sugar or dehydration thing.. i think dp is getting the hump with me being weak and pathetic, it means he's having to do some housework for the 1st time in his life and he don't like it!! i just keep telling him he should have put the condom on properly!!! don't think i'm gonna push him to give up smoking just yet, might aswell let him have some pleasure in life!! :o

saralou100 · 25/04/2006 09:27

oh and i'm still wearing my underwired bra's and did all the way through first pg... my little mates don't need the support but they need some enhancing!!! :o:o:o:o

Hattie05 · 25/04/2006 10:07

HI everyone, i stupidly fell down the stairs last night Blush.

I havn't done that since a child, and it terrified me, i sat at the bottom crying and felt really sick!! Have had period cramps ever since, (which i had early pg but had stopped for the last few weeks) so rang EPU and they will bring my scan forward tomorrow.

I'm kind of dreading it, but desperate to get it over with at the same time!

mygirllolipop · 25/04/2006 10:12

Agree with spinach, changing bra size during pg and BF is a PITA but you can sell them afterwards on eBay! As long they are the right size wearing underwire is OK (acc to a pg mag I was reading last wk). Also about the headaches, I went to the Dr's last pg because of migranes but they wont prescribe anything. Only had one so far at the wkend but it was blinding!
I think the lot of us were thinking we were having multiples due to the amount os symptoms and size of bellies! Also worrying when we aren't throwing up every hour!

DD3 decided to tip her pushchair over and get a fat lip from the handle bar. There was blood everywhere coming out of her nose and mouth. So had to call DH home from work to take us to A&E, she got cleaned up and she's torn the piece of skin that joins the lip to the gum. funny thing was she fell asleep afterwards (which they said they weren't worried about) so I walked into A&E with a blood stained jumper and an unconscious looking baby. It meant we got seen quick! We were only there an hour. The swelling went down after a few hours altho it is still a little swollen, and now there's like a bruise/friction burn under her nose. Bless her little heart!

mygirllolipop · 25/04/2006 10:14

Hattie- falling down the stairs seemed to be my speciality when pg, I done it twice each with first two DD's and once with DD3, haven't with this one - yet!

Hattie05 · 25/04/2006 10:19

There was nothing on the stairs i could have tripped over!! I just slid Blush.

I assume you didn't do any damage each time.

saralou100 · 25/04/2006 10:22

hattie, my friend did this and all was ok.. but the only thing to reassure you will be scan - goodluck tomorow:)

mygirllolipop · 25/04/2006 10:28

Hattie -me too, tripped over my own shadow! Yeah all was fine , didn't even go for a scan Blush. I'm sure you'll be fine tomorrow, they're stubbon little things inside you know.

awayfromhome · 25/04/2006 10:53

mygirllollipop - your poor daughter - sounds painful - glad she is on the mend.

Hattie05 - Good luck with the scan tomorrow I'm sure that it will all be fine.

Delia · 25/04/2006 11:49

Hattie05 sorry to hear about your fall, i'm sure everything will be fine - good luck for the scan.

Talking of scan's how do you lot all manage to get so many? i had one aprox 6 weeks cause they thought my pg was eptopic but am still waiting for my dating scan! is driving me round the bend as we are really not sure how far gone exactly we are. i cringe every time anyone asks when i'm due cause the answer is always erm either end of Oct or start of Nov we think!

calsworld · 25/04/2006 12:24

Hi everyone, mind if I join too? I've been reading for ages but not been brave enough to post. I'm due Nov 24th and seem to be going through same as most of you. Nausea has been wearing off over last few days, which I was worried meant something was wrong - but seems the same for you guys? Boobs still really sore (FF so desperately hanging on to underwired bras!). (PS - Try Bravissimo, online or in store, they actually know how to fit bras, unlike M&S who are frankly shocking!). Also was struggling with snotty nose (sorry, tmi) but have bought a steam inhaler thing and that has worked a treat - would have been cheaper to use the kettle and probably just as effective!!!

HopingCat · 25/04/2006 13:16

Welcome! It's good to be getting new people all the time. You may have seen the stats list further down the thread (the latest was probably last week). Please add yourself on, it helps keep track of where people are up to. Is this your first or have you got other children?

calsworld · 25/04/2006 13:44

First pregnancy so all a bit weird and wonderful! Its been lovely reading though all the messages though, so many shared worries, niggles and whinges!

I'll attempt a post of the thread on a separate message...

NatalieJane · 25/04/2006 14:53

Afternoon everyone :)

Welocme and congratulations to Calsworld. :o :o

Couldn't sleep last night, dropped off about 5 o'clock this morning, only to wake about 20 minutes to go for a wee, and that was it!! So I am feeling pretty crappy, and on top of that, I think I have (way TMI alert) piles :( Never got them last time, never had them before but I think I have now! Don't suppose anyone has any advice on them?

What a lovely subject matter.....!

Hope everyone else is feeling well :)

mygirllolipop · 25/04/2006 15:09

Congrats and welcome calsworld. I think we might get some more newbies once they've passed the 12wk stage. Just been hunting for new shoes for DD1 and now absolutely knackered!
