I know it isn't always the best thing to encourage this, but, does she have a comforter, maybe a nice teddy or 'blankie' would help her? My DS used to go through spells, but most of the time he wouldn't get into bed unless his 'Doodles' teddy was there, Doodles never came out in the day, he was just something special for at night time.

joules1234 · 24/04/2006 10:01

sorry weight not wait - oooppss its Monday Grin

NatalieJane · 24/04/2006 10:06

Hi Joules :)

I was the same with my first, I lost loads of weight at the beginning, all I could eat was a fishfinger for breakfast, a fishfinger for lunch and 2 fishfingers for dinner!! This went on for about 10 weeks, my midwife assured me it was fine and not worry, she was right!

joules1234 · 24/04/2006 10:23

Thats good, I feel like Im living on fresh air at the moment. I havent had a proper meal for about 5 weeks! Im having cornflakes for breakfast and a cup a soup for lunch and maybe a potato waffle or sandwich for tea, if anything! Ive got some of those build up drinks as well, strawberry flavour - theyre really nice!
My friend recommended this site, its really good to talk to people who are in the same situation Smile

saralou100 · 24/04/2006 10:26

morning everyone, hope were all starting to feel better!!! have just had a hideous couple of days feeling ill, very bad headache and feeling dizzy whenever i stand-don't know if this is due to pg or actually being ill but have had to take some time off work!!!

am feeling pretty pissed off at dp right now he is actually worse than useless... whilst sleeping yesterday ds managed to put my mobile phone in a glass of water, no longer works, but would you belive this is my fault for leaving the phone out, never mind the fact he was supposed to be watching him at the time!!! really want him to give up smoking too but he won't.. he was full of promises during 1st pg!! i don't think its fair on ds to be put in his walker and left in the house so he can nip outside for a fag!! 3times he's done this today and i'm gonna stab him if he does it again, ds really cries when he does it... any tips??:(

mygirllolipop · 24/04/2006 11:26

NJ - I was thinking the same thing about having a teddy or blankie, she's a funny 'un tho. SHe looks at teddies like she's scared of them and hates blankets over her feet. But was thinking of having a night-time only thing that sent her to sleep.
Joules - don't worry about typos or grammar errors, most of us wouldn't notice as we all have pg brains too!
Sarah - as for tips the stabbing dp sounds good to me! I was peeved at mine last night too. He tried getting DD3 back to sleep but just doesn't put the same effort in as me!

saralou100 · 24/04/2006 11:35

mygirl- no encouragement needed, have judst sent him out of the house to avoid temptation!!! now their out i might just give knives a sharpen... just in case... not that i would...

saralou100 · 24/04/2006 11:37

:o

NatalieJane · 24/04/2006 12:35

Mygirl we took DS into Toys r us and let him choose the teddy, maybe your DD would be too young to understand this though? Of course it doesn't have to be a teddy or a blankie, my nephew went for a long time where he wouldn't sleep with out his Spiderman helecopter thing! My sister used to have to go in after he had fallen asleep and move it down to the bottom of the bed every night out of harms way, but it did the trick!

Jen1209 · 24/04/2006 12:49

Hi all, was going to log on yesterday to catch up but had a really bad sickness day interspersed with bouts of energy which means the flat is clean now! I also made a gorgeous carrot cake which is delicious so am eating a slice of that a the moment, convincing myself that as it has ginger in, it must be good for the sickness!

Toadstool - so sorry to hear your news :( thinking of you.

NJ - v Envy of you clearing the room already. DP doesn't want to do anything until the 20 week scan! We have a lot of rubbish to clear from the spare room and it needs paint and re-carpeting but the flat goes on the market in August so we will get it ready for that and I will use removable stickers on the walls so it is not too "nurseryish" !

Joules - due same day and this is my first but I had a scan last week - still can't wait for the 12 week one though! Quarter of the way through today...

NatalieJane · 24/04/2006 12:57

Jen nothing to be feeling Envy about over here, we still have to actually get the skip and remove the rubbish, take the carpet up and rip the skirting boards/coving out, then block up an old door, plaster, lay the floor, replace skirting boards, paint, and then start thinking about getting some new nursery furniture in there! Should take us till at least 42 weeks :)

I wonder at what point will it stop being "the spare room" and become "OJ's room"?

mygirllolipop · 24/04/2006 13:01

Just got letter thru changing my scan date from Thu to Fri, not that bothered as only one day but it's at an inconvienient time even tho the first one I'd arranged myself (they normally send you a letter to say that you can now ring to make an appointment to see ........ cos they're scared of giving you an appointment).
Oh and I think sickness might be wearing off as I have actually realised what a state the house is in and how much stuff there is to do!

awayfromhome · 24/04/2006 13:04

Think that my MS is starting to dwindle a bit, I have had a good few days, although this afternoon I haven't felt the best, so hopefully in a week or so it will have gone completely :)

Didn't get anywhere with my doctor he has spent his day delivering babies - very inconsiderate Grin. Although I did manage to speak to a friend who has had a baby here, she said that they band the ages together and you get a totally different reading to the one you would get in the UK. Also they only offer extra tests if you have a reading of 1 in 50 or lower, so that put my mind at rest a bit - still would like to speak to the doctor to try to understand exactly what test I actually had!!

NatalieJane - very impressed that you have a room already cleared for the little one. My main mission when I get back to the UK is to find us a house and get us moved into it by October at the latest, otherwise this baby isn't going to get it's own room!!

diddle · 24/04/2006 15:13

Jen,

gatecrash alert

just wanted to congratulate you on your pregnancy, thank you so much for your lovely message on Due in June. so very pleased for you, that you're pregnant again. hope you're stying positive and keeping well.

NatalieJane · 24/04/2006 15:27

Mygirl that is a PITA, have they said why they have changed it? You should be able to ring them and change it for a better time to suit you, but it is always annoying when things get pulled from under your feet.

saralou100 · 24/04/2006 17:32

well, i have finally booked myself a gp appointment for wednesday morning!! well done me!! after accidental drowning of phone, lost number so had to get off lazy bottom and walk to gp's... also went to tesco not a pleasant experience felt as if i was in my own little bubble and very light headed, kept bumping into people Blush don't remember being this clumsy!!

NatalieJane · 24/04/2006 17:49

Sarah I have been feeling lightheaded most of the time as well, normally if I stand up too quickly! Try to eat often I have noticed it isn't so bad when I have eaten.

I am off for the night now, g'night everyone, TC xxx

NatalieJane · 24/04/2006 17:49

Sorry Sara, no 'h'!

Delia · 24/04/2006 18:57

Hi There

Saralou my DH used to be quite a heavy smoker he is currently trying to give up, i found that it helped if he had gone out for a fag to not let him anywhere near me as he was making me feel sick (even ran to the loo a couple of times to make it look more real!) i also put an article about not over doing it when it comes to house work right where he could'nt miss it, it's working a little but every little helps! good luck!

LadyAnne1stTimeMum · 24/04/2006 19:35

Hi all and thanks for welcoming me. Hope all is as well as can be expected for each of you. By the by, I've tried finding a thread and wonder if anyone can help - any tips for releiving the pain of REALLY sore and tender tits? Mine are unbearable(TMI - but I'm desparate). You can tell it's my first time.

spinach · 24/04/2006 20:07

ladyanne, all i can advise is to get fitted for a really supportive maternity bra, non underwired. the more support your boobs have the less they will hurt... poor you! I had to get about 5 different sizes during my last pregnancy and size kept changing when i breastfed too... very expensive!

Toadstool, I'm so sorry for your loss, I hope you are coping okay.

Hope everyone else is well. I'm sure I can feel baby moving, kind of rolling around, really softly. Still not convinced as its early days yet, but maybe... anyone else?

OP posts:
spinach · 24/04/2006 20:19

anyone else getting headaches more than usual?

OP posts:
mower · 24/04/2006 20:43

Haven't started getting headaches yet, but when I was pregnant was ds they were so so bad that they made me throw up.

I keep thinking I feel movement, maybe wind though!

LadyAnne1stTimeMum · 24/04/2006 20:59

Thanks Spinach - my first PG purchase was a maternity bra - perhaps I need to go up a bit bigger than expected.

Toadstool - all the best -

LilacBump · 24/04/2006 21:08
