mummyhill · 23/04/2006 12:21

Delia - Would never call you paranoid hun you know you can allways talk to me or sniff about anything.

DHW - Congrats keeping everything crossed for you this time round.

Wishing you all the best possible pregnancies.

with love from the September 05 mummies.

mygirllolipop · 23/04/2006 12:48

Just been to my booking in appointment which was fine. Was told that the 20wk scan doesn't tell you the gender of the baby anymore Shock you have to pay £50 to find out and apparently there is along wait on the NHS to get this extra scan! Rather disappointed and will be looking into getting a private scan to sex the baby.

Kif · 23/04/2006 12:59

I've not met my midwife yet - think I must have 'got lost in the system'.

What's the big deal about the first scan anyway? What exectly do they look for? If there's a bad problem I'd know soon enough - and it's not like the second scan where they can actully fix stuff where they are worried.

I know, I know, I should follow it up in any case.

Delia · 23/04/2006 13:01

Hi Girls

Welcome to all the newcomers.

I'm in shock! I got told i looked radient today and that i'm glowing. I'm over the moon all though i don't quite know why! I can't quite remove this newley formed grin that has appeared across my face.

Fatbelly, sniffing steam does wonders i would recommend it anyday, i'm allergic to parecetemol so am swearing by this method! hope this will allow you to enjoy your trip.

awayfromhome · 23/04/2006 13:09

I've only been away for a weekend break and it has taken me ages to catch up!!

Welcome and congratulations to DHW and Debbsy.

I had my nuchal fold testing with bloods on Friday and got the results over the weekend. Was a bit stunned as first time round my result was 1 in 5800 (only the nuchal fold was scanned). This time I was told my result was negative and the ratio was 1 in 660...

All the nurse who gave me the results could say was that I was older - over and over again... She kept saying that this was a good result, but I am not so sure as I keep comparing it to my last pregnancy, which I probably shouldn't.

So not quite sure what to do with myself now - will probably go back to the doctors tomorrow and get him to properly explain everything to me - it is quite difficult when you are in a different country - you sometimes feel that you don't really get to understand what is going on the same way you would at home..

Sorry long and rambling post - any suggestions or thoughts appreciated.. the doctor will probably tell me I am getting neurotic about nothing :)

velcrobott · 23/04/2006 13:30

Hi away - where are you from ?

Have been feeling great and all worries of miscarriage have gone... had a long chat with a couple of people that have reassured me.. also am geeting bigger!

awayfromhome · 23/04/2006 13:39

Velcrobott - I live in Hong Kong, but am due to return for good to the UK in the next 5 weeks.

toadstool · 23/04/2006 13:59

Hi, another bit of sad news - I wasn't just being paranoid about pg symptoms stopping, it was confirmed today by scan that the foetus died 3 weeks ago. Just waiting now for Nature to take its course, as I'd prefer this to the more invasive options. I never felt quite right about this one, but then prior to 13 weeks, who does? Shame to lose it so close to the 'safe' period. I'm furious I was forced into telling people at work, but at least that means that I can now take a proper week off and know they'll understand why. All the best with everyone for your pgs, I hope they are all happy and healthy. DH and I intend to start trying again ASAP, once we've got over this terrible stage, anyway. And DD is needing all our love also, as she had to come to the mat. hospital with us, so knows a bit more than perhaps she should at this age. But then I prefer truth to some sort of cover story for her. LOL to all.

Debbsy · 23/04/2006 14:03

oh im so so so sorry toadstool (((((((hugs))))))))

awayfromhome · 23/04/2006 14:03

toadstool - I'm so sorry Sad, take care of yourself.

toadstool · 23/04/2006 14:09

Thank you both!!!! I went through a heavy bleed at exactly the same point, followed by 6 weeks of bleeding, with my DD (now 4), so it feels strange that this one turned out to be such bad news. But then we're blessed in having her anyway, so that's a great consolation. LOL.

mygirllolipop · 23/04/2006 15:48

toadstool - so Sad to hear your news.
It's quite alarming the number of people we have lost from this thread. Thinking of you all and wishing you all the best. Remember the TTC after MC thread. Was great when I was on it. ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Delia · 23/04/2006 16:26

Toadstool am so sorry to hear your news, you sound like you're quite in control but remember were here if you need us. Hope you and the family get lots of help and support, thinking of you.

MommyUpNorth · 23/04/2006 16:54

Toadstool I am so sorry to read your news. :( Do take care of yourself.

velcrobott · 23/04/2006 17:01

Toadstool... I am really sorry to hear your news Sad
Take care of yourself.....

fatbetty · 23/04/2006 17:47

Toadstool, so sorry to hear your news.

Feeling a bit better today with my cold. I found a Vick's inhaler and that seems to help a bit. Think my MS has also gone which is great news!! Still get out of breathe going up stairs or doing something strenuous....but then again, I'm slightly out of shape. At least I feel good enough to go out for a walk now.

toadstool · 23/04/2006 18:40

A big thank you to all, it's lovely to have such nice messages. It's all still sinking in, but I'm signing off this thread now (may peek in occasionally of course, curious, me...). I've also found this thread so helpful because it showed that MC in first trimester is so frequent - no less sad, but it helps v. much to know you're not alone. Happy pregnancies to all you ladies, hope the babbies do really well (I'd already dropped off the stats list!!).

desperatehousewife · 23/04/2006 18:58

I'm so sad for Toadstool. Sad. She sounds fantastically positive and brave though. She'll be back before she knows it, I'm sure!

Northerner · 24/04/2006 08:47

Toadstool so sorry to hear your news. You're right, reading this thread does remind you just how common first trimester miscarriages actually are. (Not wanting to scare anyone) But it helps knowing we are not alone.

Wonder how Harrogatemum is getting on, hope she's OK.

I can't help popping in here either. Lots of love to everyone else on here. XX

NatalieJane · 24/04/2006 09:23

Toadstool, I am sorry aswell, I hope it won't be too long a wait for you.

Hope everyone else is doing well? We cleared out the spare room (what will be the baby's room) yesterday, took out the fitted cupboards and stripped most of the wallpaper, still got loads to do in there, but it already looks so different to what it was.

Hope you all have a good day :)

mygirllolipop · 24/04/2006 09:30

Morning, not had a good night sleep last night, DD3 has to get a routine and fast!

NatalieJane · 24/04/2006 09:44

If your DD is anything like my DS she will find her own routines when she wants to!! We tried all the pick up, put down, advice but it was no good. The best thing we found that helped was a regular play date, or morning at the park, or whatever, to get rid of some of the energy. Nusery has been a blessing in that way, he is absolutely shattered by 7.30 and asks to go to bed!!

mygirllolipop · 24/04/2006 09:53

She goes to Tumble Tots on Weds but not hte last two weeks as they don't do school hols. Must admit I don't think she sleeps any better on a Weds! I know she will find her own routine in her own time but I NEED sleep, I was so close to tears last night. She wakes every hour and needs us for comfort I'm gonna have to get her to comfort herself. I've managed to cut down on the amount of BF's she has, would still like to give up completely.

joules1234 · 24/04/2006 09:59
