Esmummy · 19/04/2006 13:24

Well Midwife finally arrived an hour late. All booked in now, she is putting me forward for my scan which has about a 3 week turnaround at the mo so should be pretty close to the 12 weeks. She has changed my date to 21st Nov but am going to wait for my scan before changing it everywhere.

Thanks Jen - have had a few moments today but trying to just get stuck into my work. i haven't seen my mum yet today which is when i know i will lose it completely :(
Whe are you going to be making the arrangements for your grandads memorial service ?

frangosa · 19/04/2006 13:25

Hello all. This looks like a great idea. Can I join? I'm due 24 November and a little nervous after a miscarriage last year. Over easter my symptoms - bloating, nausea, tender breasts, going to the toilet more - just stopped. I was certain I had lost this one too but a scan at the hospital yesterday showed a heartbeat. So relieved. Cannot wait until November and really hope this one is a tough one.

Has anyone got tips for getting rid of stains on baby clothes? I thought a hot cycle would do the trick but never has and my DD gets messier each day.

Welcome Frangosa and many congratulations!

I am pleased the scan put your mind at rest!

No tips for the stains, we always had muslins or big huge bibs on DS, so not many things (that mattered) got stained.

awayfromhome · 19/04/2006 13:40

NatalieJane - totally understand what you are saying - it is a difficult one. I do know someone who refused to have any scans etc, sailed through her pregnancy enjoying every minute. But I enjoy seeing the little person on the screen and would probably worry too much if I didn't have the scans.

Frangosa - welcome and congraultions :). I find vanish spray very effective in removing my dd's meal from her clothes, especially since she has refused to wear a bib since she was 17 months old!

NatalieJane · 19/04/2006 13:46

Yes, one of the mums at DS's nursery is due next month, she hasn't had any scans or tests, and has only seen the midwife a couple of times all the way through, she is really enjoying it, but I would be very scared I think, couldn't cope with the not knowing!!

staceym11 · 19/04/2006 15:42

oh northener, im so sorry to hear your news, i had my fingers crossed that you would make it out of the woods ok. my thoughts are with you.

harrogatemum i would like to repeat something said earlier, go to the docs if you're worried, pg is hard enough esp. when your worried!

Tinasan, my dd was due 31st of Oct 2 years ago, i was gunna call her witchina! lol she decided to come on the 22nd tho, shes never been very patient!

welcome and congrats Frangosa, wishing you a healthy happy pg!

well was supposed to be going to mother and toddlers today with madam moo but she didnt get out of bed until gone half 9 and it takes us an hour to get up and there, which would leave us not a lot of time at all! so we have lazed, which is nice but i need to see people im so bored!! at least when i get my own place i can have people round without worrying about my dad working!

not a lot happening with my bump other than its huge, met a lady in town the other day who had a bump the same size of mine, she asked how far gone i was and i said 11 weeks and her eyes popped out of her head, she is 7 months! jesus what am i going to look like??!?!?!?!?! oh well appy healthy baby is what i need not perfect body! lol

fatbetty · 19/04/2006 16:10

Northener, so sorry to hear your news.

staceym, have you set your moving date yet?

I feel like many of you - not sure what is going on and with every little pain and twitch i think the worst. Can't wait until my scan on the 4th too! At least it will put my mind at ease a bit.

I feel like I haven't done anything in the last three weeks as I haven't been feeling up to doing much of anything and now I have a cold! I'm beginning to go stir crazy!! And so are my kids! I have to get myself motivated to get out today! I just wish I wasn't so tired all the time. Roll on 2nd trimester!!!

NatalieJane · 19/04/2006 16:17

I know that feeling FB!! I really can't wait to get to 13/14 weeks and start to feel better, last time I never felt so good as I did in the middle of pregnancy! Had tonnes of energy, could eat properly again after three months of fish fingers, and could sleep more easily.

Hopefully by the end of May, we should all be feeling on top of the world again :)

Jen1209 · 19/04/2006 17:25

My cold seems to be getting better although I am mighty snotty! :o

I too can't wait to start feeling better. I have a bit of a vomit phobia (totally hate it and it really scares me) so doing it every day isn't funny!

Keep sneaking a look at the pictures and having a big grin - the rest of the office must think I have finally lost it!

NatalieJane · 19/04/2006 17:37

I think the excess snot is down to being PG, I have noticed both times that my nose feels blocked up, I have more saliva, just generally more of every bodily fluid...

I don't know how you haven't shown the pictures to everyone in your office by now, I wouldn't have been able to stop myself!

Delia · 19/04/2006 22:56

Hi Everyone

Well i seem to have missed loads just by not looking at the site for the last week - working so hard and sleeping for england!

So sorry to hear the bad news over the last week, my thoughts go out to you all.

Being bunged up is something i really relate to Jen1209 i have never felt so heady! keep having spontanious nose bleads as well!

Hope everyone is resting up and looking after themselves.

joules1234 · 20/04/2006 10:02

Hello all, hope everyone is ok. I have only been on mumsnet once, so Im unsure of all the short hand! I am due on the 20th November with my first, and Im really excited. I thought I would add my name to your list, hope this is ok? My first few weeks were terrible, but I`m feeling so much better now! I also have my first appointment with my midwife next week!

frangosa · 20/04/2006 11:05

Thank you Staceym11m, Awayfromhome and Nataliejane and welcome Joules1234. I only joined yesterday!

I will have to try the vanish spray. I get things on my clothes - food when cooking, etc - and it always comes out in the wash. I think baby clothes/bibs are designed that way so you have to keep buying more.

It is such a tense time when you don't really know what's going on inside, especially when you've had troubles before. I can't wait to feel some kicking. Does anyone remember when that starts? I used to give DD a bit of a shove when she hadn't moved for a while, she would shove back and I knew all was fine.

If anyone is looking into toddler and baby buggies, ie that the new baby can use from birth, and has an opinion on good ones, please let me know.

More questions... I'm thinking about sleeping arrangements also. Not sure whether to put my DD who will be 2yrs 1m when #2 is born, into a cot bed and #2 into her cot, or just have two cots. Anyone have any thoughts?

Lastly I saw someone mentioning slings. I heard yesterday from a friend that she knows of two people (friends of friends, not urban myth) who have had newborns die (suffocate) in their slings. How horrific. Anyway that's put me off using mine for my newborn.

Please let me know if anyone feels kicks. You are meant to feel them earlier, 2nd or more time round.

Mummy2Toby · 20/04/2006 11:19

Hi everyone and welcome to the newbies and big hugs to those who have had bad news Sad
On a positive note - I have my scan yesterday and everything is fine Smile I am 12+4 and due on 30/10/06! We managed to get a great picture after a while but the bubs was moving sooo much I am surprised. And it is only one, so my mum has been proved wrongGrin
I have already bought a double buggy - the twin traveller (as they are quite narrow)I bought it as I was going to be looking after my nephew but that fell through, so it will now be used for ds and the pip!
As far as beds go, I don't know what to do either - I might put ds into his cotbed (as a bed) and then just have pip in a crib until about 3 months and then try to move ds to a proper bed and pip could have the cotbed IYSWIM - I can start thinking about things like this now I have had a good scan. Good luck to everybody.

NatalieJane · 20/04/2006 11:46

Morning Girls :)

Welcome to Joules, and congrats, the first is always so special :)

It is lovely to still be picking up newbies along the way :)

Frangosa, I felt loads of what I thought might be little kicks from about 14 weeks onwards, but was sure it was the baby by about 17/18 weeks.

Mummy2Toby, I am really glad you scan went well :) It is very reassuring for us, well me at least!!

Hope everyone has a good day :)

awayfromhome · 20/04/2006 11:56

Joules - congratulations :)

frangosa - I felt dd1 move at around 20 weeks, but have been told to expect to feel the second one a few weeks earlier.. Undecided about the cot/bed subject still pondering that one - not sure I can face my dd constantly getting out of bed just yet..

Mummy2Toby - good news about your scan :)

I had my nuchal scan today, and everything looked very good according to the doctor - had blood taken and should get the result on Tuesday. The little one was bouncing around and I saw fingers and toes - all present and correct.. was lovely to see :)

Had my due date moved my one day to 10th November - not quite sure why they bother with just one day!

spinach · 20/04/2006 12:24

hi all... so sorry to hear of those losing little ones, makes me grateful that i still feel revoltingly sick. Good news for those of you having scans... mine is next week, booked in a couple of weeks ago. Is anyone feeling baby yet... I'm sure I have felt something a few times, but it still seems so ealry for that, I'm only 11 weeks.

Hope you're all well. xx

Hi, welcome to the newbies from me too - Joules, you're due the same day as me!

My friend has said she was more susceptable to allergies when she was pg so I may have a touch of hayfever as well as the cold?

Booked in with the Dr today - he was amazed but understood why I had waited til now! I showed him the scan picture (not sure he was interested but I wanted to show SOMEONE!) and he has put me down for a 12 week scan as well (the hospital told me they wouldn't give me one) which is lovely.

NJ - I have promised DP on pain of death that I won't tell anyone until 12 weeks so the picture is safe at home now, out of harms way! Only 2 1/2 weeks to go....
