Jen1209 · 08/04/2006 11:16

Hi all, back properly now which means I won't have to spend 1/2 hour catching up with you lot! :o

Harrogatemum - sorry, don't know where we got Thursday from! Good Luck for Tuesday and still thinking of you

NJ - hope you have a fab weekend away and lots of fun telling your family. We are def waiting til 12 weeks as we don't want to have to "untell" everyone should things go wrong again. Not a positive attitude I know :o but it was so hard last time. I am also quite enjoying having my own little "secret" for the next 4 weeks!

I had a fantastic week with my bf. She has said (she knows we are trying) that she is going to put 1 of everything ie moses basket, baby bath, car seat etc away for me to have - that's so lovely of her. SHe has got a sling for the babies and it is brilliant - I am a dead convert to them!

Stacey - how about a sling for you? THat way you wouldn't need a double buggy and your DD could still have her push chair? I've been using a Wilkinet which you can get on Ebay for about £15...

Anyway, hope you are all well, I am getting more nauseus in the morning but not actually sick yet. Must go and do the housework though whilst I am on my own as DP is helping his sister move so I have peace and quiet!

fatbetty · 10/04/2006 08:43

Morning All! Hope you had a good weekend! I think I also feel a bit worse on the weekends because DH is home to help out. Was feeling really horrible last night and had a preggie pop and it tasted horrible but did make me feel a bit better.

Went shopping over the weekend and bought a maternity skirt at M&S! They seem to have some decent clothes.

NJ, how was it telling your folks?

NatalieJane · 10/04/2006 09:30

Hello everyone :)

I hope everyone is feeling a bit better, and had a great weekend?

It went really well at my mums, she is so excited!!! :o We went shopping and had some really nice 'girly time', was better than I had even imagined! :o

DS has bought a really bad cough and a cold back with him, so I am playing nurse today, he isn't normally bothered by colds and just carries on as if there is nothing wrong with him, but he is led on the sofa with his quilt at the moment so I know he is feeling really rough this time! :(

Northener welcome to the streaky club!! I am not so bad, I think the secret is to spend as much time as possible whilst applying it. I hope your DS had a great birthday :)

Esmummy we have told DS, we thought the more we talk and have him involved the better he will accept the baby, I don't think we will have too many problems, the only one we have stumbled acoss is that he doesn't understand why the baby will call me mummy and DH daddy and my mum Nanna etc. But I am sure he will get his head around it before the baby comes :)

Anyway, sorry for the essay! :) Have a good day :o

staceym11 · 10/04/2006 09:36

hi everyone, morning!!

last night felt like coming on and writing a really down in the dumps post, i felt i really couldnt cope with two and what the hell was i doing as dd had a bad night and im just so tired!!! feel a bit better this morning tho!

stil getting sickness but not too bad this time round, feel as if i can cope at least!!

iv got a baby carrier the little one can go in, used it a lot with dd but gave it up so could put hangbag etc under buggy and not have all that extra weight, but with buggy and sling might keep it for a little longer!

staceym11 · 10/04/2006 09:37

oh meant to ssay it was dd that announced to me i was pg before i knew so couldnt keep it much of a secret, my daughter can be really freaking sometimes!!!

NatalieJane · 10/04/2006 10:07

LOL Stacey I remember the day when you said your DD had pointed at your belly and said baby!!

MeAndMyBoy · 10/04/2006 10:12

Morning ladies,

Just done a quick catch up so sorry if I miss anyone. Stacey DS told us that I was pg a week before I did the test - yes they can be very perceptive.

NJ I'm glad the weekend went really well for you :) sounds like you had a lovely time. Sorry your DS is poorly Ds has been for the last few days too nasty cold and mouth ulcers too poor mite.

Harrogatemum hope that you had an ok weekend and that tomorrow brings you some peace of mind.

KJG welcome and congrats :).

Hello to everyone else, Cece thinking about you.

Well off to my first MW appoint this morning in about 3 mins actually yikes! feeling nervous goodness knows why - silly woman. Nausea has calmed down a lot this week which is a relief as I am fed up of having to eat so blooming much - I've put on nearly 6lbs already and I've been really good as all I fancy is fresh fruit and raw veg - I'm going to be the size of an elephant!

Have a good day and chat later.

NatalieJane · 10/04/2006 10:32

Hope it all goes well MeAndMyBoy, sorry about your DS, it is horrible when they are ill isn't it?

Just waiting for DS to go to sleep so I can as well!! I am shattered, after the long weekend and being awake with him last night, I feel like I could sleep for a week! He can't stay awake for much longer, he hardly slept a wink last night!

kjq · 10/04/2006 14:21

Hi everyone

What a change from last week, I feel on top of the world. DH came home on Friday night after a week away with work so I begged him to help me out over the weekend which he did. It meant that I have lots more energy today. So not one to brag but i've just cleaned out my dinning room which is full of the girls toys and i've washed all the downstairs floors (big achievement, couldn't even wash my own face last week I was so tired). So all in all I'm feeling quite good.

Oh and its my 30th on Wednesday Smile Before I found out I was pregnant I was dreading it but now, I'm like 'Bring it on'.

Anyway after all that cleaning I need a shower. Talk to you all later

HopingCat · 10/04/2006 14:24

Hi everyone,

Got a letter from my midwife saying she's coming to my house to do booking in visit on Easter Sunday morning at 9am! This seems a bit of an unsociable time, although I suppose as soon as I have a baby I'll get used to getting up much earlier than that every day of the week! Does anyone know if she is likely to start sticking needles in my arm and taking blood?

kjq · 10/04/2006 14:29

Hopingcat - each time I've had a booking in it was just so that the midwife could meet you and discuss your views on the pregnancy and birth. I think they do this at home so you are in familar surroundings although I get a bit paranoid just in case she notes that i've not dusted in the last 48 hrs.

It's strange though that it's on easter sunday but i suppose they work round the clock.

fatbetty · 10/04/2006 14:57

Strange that it's on Easter Sunday, as I would have thought that most people are on holiday. I suppose not for the MW as people still have babies. Would have thought it would have been during the week at least.

It's 3pm and I'm still in my pajamas and the kids are only half way dressed as I felt so bad this morning. I have loads of stuff to do to get ready for my trip on Thursday but very little motivation. Ugh!

MeAndMyBoy · 10/04/2006 15:26

Hoping Cat,

I've just had my booking in appointment this morning. Was at the doc's surgry and literally was just filling in form after form, deciding what blood tests I wanted doing or not, and then arranging a 12 week scan - took an hour and a half to do. She took my blood pressure and weighed me and then prodded my tummy but that was it. :) sounds far more sociable her coming to your house - but Easter Sunday? she may not have realised what the date is though is it worth giving the midwives team a call and checking it?

I'm a bit disappointed though she's told me I'm 10 weeks not the 11 nearly 12 I thought ho hum.

awayfromhome · 10/04/2006 15:36

Hello everyone. Hope that you all had good weekends.

HopingCat - Surprised the appointment is Easter Sunday as well... but quite impressed that they are coming to you.. Enjoy the lie-ins at the weekend while they last!, whatever time my daughter goes to bed she starts her day with great enthusiasm at 6.15am, if we are unlucky it can be 5.30am :)

kjq - happy birthday for Wednesday :)

Mendmyboy - hope that your ds starts to feel better soon.

NatalieJane - glad it went so well with your mom, it is nice to start telling everyone.. We are going to start telling friends over the next week or so. Hope your ds feels better soon as well.

Mummy2Toby · 10/04/2006 16:04

Good afternoon everyone,
I am afraid that yet again I don't have time for a proper catch up but I have not stopped today! Don't know where this energy has come from Grin I will probably flake out at 7:00ish Blush
The midwife called today and she is coming to me on Thursday at 1;30pm for my booking in appt - it is the same midwife that I had with ds, so at least I know her .... she will be shocked at how big he is, the last time she saw him he was 7 days old!!! So I should have my folder and everything by the time I go to the hospital for my scan on 19th Grin - I love this stage as it feels like something is actually happening, but I will still feel much better after the scan.

Take Care everyone and I promise to catch up properly soon xxx

Northerner · 10/04/2006 16:14

Hi everyone! I'm having a burst of energy too. I've been rearranging furniture, I sorted out the shed (task and a half let me tell you!) and rearranged ds's arts and craft cupboard and sorted everything out in nice tubs and things.

DS is not himself today, he had a bad allergic reaction last night and had a bad nights sleep, so he's kipping on the sofa atm. Have to go to hospital for blood tests.

Must go and put tea on for ds and his friend.

Catch you all later.

fatbetty · 10/04/2006 16:28

I'm so glad to hear that many of you are having bursts of energy. I finally got off my lazy bum and have found some kind of energy. Managed to get some ironing and laundry done. I think I just need to force myself into getting some stuff done. My knee started hurting last night and I had a lot of joint aches when pg with ds2 - wondering if that's what it is again as I haven't done anything else to it.

toadstool · 10/04/2006 18:59

Hello ladies,

Can I borrow some of your energy, Northerner? Had my booking in appointment today - new mw, turns out she's friends with our neighbours, so any home visits will be sociable! The usual stuff - bloods, pee, prod. Inexplicably, I got all depressed and anxious after the appt. But then I have a snivelly cold and pg knackeredness is truly kicking in. Probably the realisation I've put on tons of weight in less than 10 weeks, mostly cheese and biccies to keep tummy from nausea. Anyone else feel like biting people's heads off constantly (not literally)? Will eating helthy fruit and veg lessen this? (no.) Also had to tell my boss about the pg today because of ongoing work palavers. He was very nice, said Private Eye's Pseuds corner just featured a newborn named 'Hermione Popocatapelt'. Still, felt like this was anxiety-making too...

Northerner · 10/04/2006 19:19

Sending you some ennergy right now.........!!!

I'm pretty certain mine won't last, but am enjoying it while it does.

Like my Monday nights, dh baths ds and later I watch America's next top model and it's the final. (How sad aM i)

Toadstool - I too am pigging out, mainly on biscuits and chocolate. Keep meaning to eat fruit and veg but it jsut doesn't hit the spot does it?

Maybe we should have an eating healthy week?

awayfromhome · 11/04/2006 03:12

toadstool - you are not alone in wanting to bite peoples heads off!! - I have days where everyone irritates me no matter what they do, and I then find I get annoyed with myself for being so grumpy - hormones!! My dh has found the easiest course of action at the mo, is to agree with everything I say :)

NatalieJane · 11/04/2006 08:53

Good morning all :)

I have my appointment with the nurse this afternoon, it is only to confirm he PG, not sure what is going to happen though, I asked the receptionist when I made the appointment if I needed to bring a sample and she said no I didn't, so not sure exactly how they are going to confirm it, bloods maybe?

Does anyone know if you can arrange to always have a the midwife come to your house? It is only because we live too far away from the surgery to walk, I can't drive, so we have to get a taxi, and aside from that costing me a fortune, it means having to put DS in a car with no booster seat which I hate doing, and times like today, when DS is laid up on the sofa and really shouldnt be going out anywhere, it would be so much easier to have the midwife come to the house.

I hope everyone's energy spurts keep up!

Jen1209 · 11/04/2006 09:01

Morning all. V quick post to say that my smugness at only feeling slightly queasy has well and truly gone. Felt fine this morning, put my coat on to go out the door and WHAM - sick like you wouldn't believe!!!! (sorry, tmi). DP thought it was hilarious until I bellowed at him and then he drove me to work (5 miles in the opposite direction for him!) I feel dreadful now and have managed a bowl of cereal which I can only hope stays down.

Hope everyone has a good day.

J x

NatalieJane · 11/04/2006 09:08

Oh no Jen! I think I'd have done more than yell!!

I bet there is a little bit of you that is pleased that something is happening though?!

MeAndMyBoy · 11/04/2006 10:04

Morning,

Commiseration's Jen what an awful start to your day - hope it's a one off for you.

Natalie - might be worth taking a sample with you anyway - least you have it with you if they do need it.

Morning to everyone else hope you're all doing ok we have an Iso audit today gulp!

harrogatemum · 11/04/2006 13:26

Hello all - just wanted to let you know teh good news!!! Unbelievably at the scan this morning, there was a strong heartbeat and a 7 weeks + sized embryo....

I dont believe it really and am so relieved and elated. Thanks so much to everyone for all your kind words, you have all been really lovely!! I must have just made a mistake with my dates, one of the only times I have been wrong but I am delighted that I was!
