Good morning ladies. Poppyshed hows your dd this morning? Has her rash cleared up ? Sorry couldnt help with the cause of it but I was thinking about her. In fact I hd a dream that I had a baby with a rash and was told it would have this rash for the rest of its life and they showed me ways to dress it so it didnt show and that it could wear make up when it was older. So please tell me shes ok? Was extremely sick about midnight last night must have been bad cause it woke my dh up and thats almost impossible! Feeling a little better today thank goodness. Hope you ladies are all ok today xx

nowanearlyNicemum · 05/04/2006 09:32

hi ladies,
sorry for not having posted for a while but I have been keeping up to date with your news. don’t have much to report - am still being fairly sick and still waiting desperately for my scan which is finally getting closer. A week today in fact. I’m fuming because dp told me yesterday he’ll be away for business at the beginning of next week. I don’t know how many times I told him the time and date of scan. It’s just typical. Strangely I’m much more nervous about the scan this time round than with dd. - Or maybe I just don’t remember being this worried last time!
so that’s me, puking, panicking and pretty pissed off with partner! - other than that all is well :)

whiffy · 05/04/2006 10:07

Hahahahaha I can definately join you on the three 'P's', now/nice. My DH keeps disappearing out of the country on business, and he missed my scan. There I was, the night before panicking away, with ratty DS with fever and au-pair being 'emotional', and laundry pied sky-high when DH called to tell me it was 35 degrees in Bahrain and Ritz-Carlton definately the place to be and he'd managed to fit in a fab swim and massage before dinner in posh Lebanese restaurant.

And then he forgot mothers' day

Still, today sees him lying in bed with Giardia (a really bad stomach bug that hits him every once in a while and once even put him in hospital). I was very sympathetic of course. Not.Grin

catgirl · 05/04/2006 10:34

thanks for the welcomes! booking appt was ok - forgot how much form filling there is! Have got my 12 week scan week after next, then next appt is at 20 weeks - do they not do bloods at 16 weeks, or is that only if the 12 week scan shows something? Mind like mush at the moment, so didn't occur to me to ask!

Was going to have a water birth last time, but someone else beat me to the pool!

My ds wants to call the baby Fred - whether it is a boy or a girl! have told him that he can give the baby whatever nickname he likes, but we give the 'proper' name!

totallyfloaty35 · 05/04/2006 10:40

My husbands never in the country either,he misses everything, valentines, mothersday, birthdays, kids shows and scans,he comes home sat for a grand total of 9 days.Only saw him for 3 months last year.
I have booked a nuchal again though so he can see the baby, its my nhs one, last one i paid for so i can have this one still.
Got 1st midwife apt on fri, unless they cancel on day again,i will be 13wks and ready to do battle for the home birth i want,if they refuse i have independant on standby.

catgirl · 05/04/2006 10:51

Gingeme · 05/04/2006 10:59

Well she lives in Kent and hes doing some plumbing down there. He missed the first one from my last ds too but my other two ds were with me and they were fascinated. Still waiting for my booking in appt. Im 11 weeks now so Im sure Ill be getting it soon. Lol catgirl'Fred'. My friends dog is called Fred and he looks like hes got a constant bad smell under his nose(hes a British Bulldog).

wuzzlefraggle · 05/04/2006 11:34

majormoo · 05/04/2006 12:09

morning/afternoon all. Thanks for all the Happy Birthday messages. Had a good day- had the day off work. My main present was a dish washer!!! DH's colleagues have been taking the mickey all week saying 'are you sure about that mate', but as I have been nagging we need one for ages, I am sadly pretty pleased (plus also got some nice maternity jeans, cds etc). Then spent the daytime down by the beach with DD and out for dinner in the evening. Which was lovely-especially when DH set light to the menu by accidentally holding it over the candle on our table!!

There seems loads to catch up on here. Welcome catgirl. I agree would be good to update stats when we have all had our scans which must be quite soon. I am finding it hard to keep track of everyone.

We are not sure whether to find out the sex or not. Dreamt I had a boy last night.

Re names we're going for Tess or Hannah for a girl (probably) but bit stuck on boy's names.I like Noah but DH put his foot down as DD is Eve and he was worried we would be getting far too biblical for a commited atheist!!

Poppyshed · 05/04/2006 12:14

Afternoon all! DD is fine today, rash had disappeared from arms and legs by this morning, and was only faint on torso. She's eaten b'fast and has no temp. I think it might be something to do with a reaction to the cold and cough she's had for past 2 weeks. Otherwise everthing's fine. Hope everyone else is okay. By the way, I had waterbirth with dd and it was fab. Def worth doing of you get the chance, xx

Gingeme · 05/04/2006 12:29

Thankyou for uptting my mind to rest poppyshed. I was worried about your little dd. So glad your birhtday went well majormoo. Would like to have seen the menu going up in smoke. Did you blow it out and sing 'Happy Birthday'? He he Grin

majormoo · 05/04/2006 12:56

poppyshed-my DD came up in a rash a couple of weeks ago on her torso. I asked our nurse about it as I had to take her for a jab a few days later, and the nurse said it is quite common for them to get rashes after viruses, and she didn't seem worried about it. Glad your DD is better.

well gingeme-didn't quite manage Happy Birthday but everyone on the tables nearby was laughing at him, so it didn't wash when I said 'don't worry I don't think anyone noticed' as smoke circled the room!!

marthahm · 05/04/2006 16:01

hello all. i had my scan this morning. it was fab. very reassuring to see everything working well. the baby seems to exactly like its father-fidgety with a strong jaw! we went and bought a celebratory baby grow afterwards for getting through the first 3 months.
i keep coming up with names that dh rejects instants-also tried noah, he wasn't having it sadly or rufus or fergus or toby. we have ended up with a v. short list of boys names that we both don't mind too much-not quite the idea. girls names seem so much easier.
dh is going to be away in china 6 weeks before the baby is due and then away for a week ten days before its due. fury has subsided a bit having read what some of you have to put up with.

SKYTVADICT · 05/04/2006 17:23

I seem to be quite lucky as DP doesn't work away at all and intends to take three weeks off after the birth. If we go overdue it could be October half term as well so we might have a house full. At least we won't have to rush to get the DDs to school.

As for names we are also struggling for boys. I and DD1 like Sean but DP doesn't. We all seem to like Tommy but that makes the list very short. I also like Finn but nobody else does. Girls names do seem a lot easier. Think we have about agreed on Evie Grace but that could all change. We also liked Lexxie but DPs second name starts with L so he won't go for it. I already have a Libby and a Freya so don't want to go too boring.

SKYTVADICT · 05/04/2006 17:24

Forgot to say good news on scan Marthahm and I can't wait for Friday to get mine over with.

majormoo · 05/04/2006 20:30

congrats on the scan martha.

I am back to the hospital tomorrow to see a consultant (worried about my cervix after surgery for dodgy cells last year). Will be hard going back to the antenatal level as we have not been there since the last pregnancy.

I've added my stats to the list. I didn't want it to look like we had forgotten the people that had early miscarriages by starting a new stats thread. I only say that because I used to be on the March thread and I thought it was nice that they kept track of those of us who didn't make it. Anyway we'll be keeping our eye on Beanymum, First Nikki, Sharklet, Piffle, Evenhope, Riley 3, Twinkle, Trophywife, Sparkly and Cece. Hope I have not forgotten anyone.

totallyfloaty35 · 05/04/2006 20:33

of course, all the ladies who lost LOs,please stay in touch and post if you concieve again or just to say hi,it seems like such a lot from our thread suffered bad luck Sad

Gemmitygem · 06/04/2006 05:06

congrats on scan Martha,

yes you're right major, didn't mean to leave anyone out of our original thread..

Having same prob that there seem fewer boys names, specially since Chinese gender calendar says it's a boy!

Having a scan in Belgium on 20th (will be 15 wks all being well,) will prob have the babba there because there's no way I'm having it in Kazakhstan!

hope all are blooming and good luck with your scan tomorrow skytvaddict

Gingeme · 06/04/2006 08:14

Good morning ladies hope all are well. Has anyony seen in the news about adding folic acid to white flour? Will be in bread too. I now its in some cereals too. What do you think? Does it have any health benefits to anyone other than us preggies? Does anyone know exactly how long were supposed to be taking folic acid for?

SKYTVADICT · 06/04/2006 09:26

My own feelings are that Folic Acid shouldn't be put in bread and flour as it is just another additive that most people don't need.

Think we only need to take it pre-conception and up to 12 weeks but will check books. I will probably take pregnacare vitamin all the way through if I can actually remember to take it.

wuzzlefraggle · 06/04/2006 10:35

good luck with the scan tomorrow skytv!

All seems to be ok here, although I'll feel much more re-assured after ive had my first scan which is 2 weeks today (i'll then be 13+3). i keep getting told that its very unlikely that anything bad would have happened without me knowing about it or there being any signs of it at all, so im trying not to worry as ive continued having pg symptoms all the way (and still have them now, all-be-it not so harshly). oh god, sorry ladies, im rambeling lol

anyways hope that you are all starting to get over the sickness etc. take it easy all xoxox

majormoo · 06/04/2006 13:13

good luck with scan SKYTV.

I haven't heard or read the whole story re putting folic acid into flour/bread-just heard the headline. If it is harmless to everyone else then I think it is a good idea as so many pregnancies are unplanned and it reduces the chances of NTDs dramatically. I wonder if it can have any bad effects on people though? I'm pretty sure we only need to take it up to 12 weeks. I've been taking the pregnancy supplements so not sure whether to carry on or stop now.

Gem-chinese predictor says a boy for me too so we had better swot up on decent boys names!!!!

Had appointment at the hospital this morning-saw doctor not consultant. It was a 5 minute chat and a bit of a waste of time really, but I suppose it is good that they saw me. We were basically told not to worry. Easier said than done!

Have to tell my boss my news this afternoon and she is in a REALLY bad mood but as I was out at hospital all morning I can't put it off any longer.

whiffy · 06/04/2006 14:04

Guys, I need a reality check here. All the talk of names got me started again with DH and halfway through our pillow talk we came up with a first and middle name for a girl that we both love. And we still like it today, even though we know it's a bit of an odd combo: if it's a girl, both of us can see us calling her by her middle name as she grows up, and keeping the first name for 'formal'.

Anyway, what we came up with is 'Jessica Blue'

Are we totally completely mad?

totallyfloaty35 · 06/04/2006 15:46

Anyone had backache? mine has been agony for the last wk and worst in the morning, its my lower back to.
My mates kid is called Blue, her dd is called Storm,i also know an Eden,Skye,Star,Paris and Harley

OP posts:
Gingeme · 06/04/2006 15:55

No sorry totalyfloaty my backs been fine.Try to drink lots of water could be a wee infection. Like you need to wee some more! I think Jessica Blue is realy pretty. Were calling our baby Amy May if its a dd. Still realy stuck for a boys name though. Still feel realy queasy . Have had no apetite the past few days. Went out for dinner last night to celebrate my dh job promotion and realy didnt fancy anything on the menu which isnt like me cause we go to this resteraunt quite alot and their food is lovely.Only had a light fish dish and new potatoes. Couldnt stomach much else.Sad
