Rianna · 05/05/2006 15:09

girls (well, you might be anything up to 63..)
how are you doing with your weight?
I've lost weight at the start, but am gaining rapidly now, over 4 kg :(

Also: I am 36 and in the end , have decided against an amnio. How many of you are over 35 and what have you decided?

wuzzlefraggle · 05/05/2006 15:10

cheers gingame, i knew that thrush can happen any time in your life, i just wondered if women are prone to it more when they are pregnant. glad to hear that yours has cleared up now Grin

wuzzlefraggle · 05/05/2006 15:12

rianna - re the weight thing...i seem to still be loosing a little weight...not huge amounts or anything, but since my booking in and scan with the midwife (which was nearly 3 weeks ago now) ive lost 6lbs

Gingeme · 05/05/2006 15:59

No wuzzlefraggle this is the first time Ive ever had it with pregnancy although my gp did check my urine for sugar before he gave me anything for thrush. All clear. Not interested in what Im putting on or losing in pregnancy never have been realy. This is my 4th and as long as I dont resemble a beached whale too much Im happy!! Never being a 'small' girl, teen, adult and my weight has never bothered me. I am the way I am and if peole dont lke it tough init? xx

wuzzlefraggle · 05/05/2006 16:10

very well said gingeme Grin

Gingeme · 05/05/2006 17:21

Why thankyou wuzzlefraggle. Im sure if I was at risk at any point during pregnancy with my weight my mw would say something. I see girls walking down the road twice the size of me and they have no kids. Its ashame they are like that but I do secretly think to myself'well Im on my 4th baby and am not that big so I dont have anything to worry about!'. Is that realy bad? Blush

Rianna · 05/05/2006 17:46

no , it is not. I have a friend in France, she's reallay slim but het doctor gave her such a hard time..in the end she put on 11 kg (to me : only!!)
I put on 15-16 kg usually .Only, this pregnency I have started a little heavier then usual (5 kg).
I intend to diet after the 6 weeks check-up, or at least : whilst beastfeeding, being careful, I loose a pound a week .but if I look a bit after my weight I can save money on clothes etc. and maybe prevent my breast from getting to heavy ( wear a dd cup when not pregnant).
So...I'm trying my best with a healthy diet and not too much...but it is so hard, as I am SO hungry....
This week in Grazia: celebrities back in bikini after 6 weeks...put on only 6 kg in pregnancy...this is illness in my eyes, tehy should't even publish it, very bad role models .
Kate moss got told she was a bad role model for using drugs...what about all those anorexics??

whiffy · 05/05/2006 22:26

LaGaunaca - haven't seen you on the thread for a couple of weeks - are you feeling a bit less stressed now? Hope so

Hello new joiners. Welcome bumps and all.

I have nothing to report. Finally over my hula hoop craving but kind of freaked myself out this week with my cups of tea. Heaven knows why but I have started wanting sugar in it. yuk yuk yuk. I may have a bum like a builder but this is ridiculous. Would switch to coffee to get over the shame except the smell makes me retch at the moment. hmm.

Rhiana - I'm coming up to 40 and decided against amnio but was really lucky as we get the triple test our way so I already knew I was low-risk - 1 in 300. Not sure how I'd have felt if risk had been higher. Very impressed at your intention to diet at 6 weeks. I never managed it as was always famished when breast feeding and then when I stopped BF at 4 months I had month or two of 'catch-up' fun - seeing friends, having alcohol again etc and ended up putting on weight!! Got married when DS was 9 months old and had to get extra large bouquet with lots of v.big lillies just to cover my bulging belly Grin then we made everyone at wedding eat a 9 course dinner so all my skinny mates ended up bloated & fat that evening too Grin Grin

Swizzler · 06/05/2006 10:47

I'm finding the whole weight thing quite interesting - this being my first, I'm easily amused...

I've put on about half a stone at 17 weeks (don't do kilos) but shape has changed a lot - suddenly have huge belly and starting to look pregnant. Keep having to buy larger clothes as I'm putting off getting the maternity wear as long as poss (it's all so dreary).

S'pose the loss of control is the interesting thing - first time that I've not been able to do anything about gaining the weight - it'll be going up no matter what I do. Mind you, all the food I'm shovelling in is helping my rapid growth.

The thing that irritates me is that you can't win - friends who have been dieting seem really pleased that I'm getting bigger, while commiserating with me that I'll get huge; if I put on loads I'll get criticised for being lazy and greedy; if I don't put on much I'm selfish and a control freak.

Is there any way of winning this one?

Swizzler (off to find the chcoclate in the fridge)

wuzzlefraggle · 06/05/2006 10:54

na thinking thats not bad at all gingeme Grinthis is your fourth is it? would u like a boy or a girl?
hats off to you rhianna re. the dieting after 6 weeks thing. is this your first?

is any one else using that cocoa butter lotion stuff thats meant to help prevent stretch marks? it smells gorgeous!

wuzzlefraggle · 06/05/2006 10:56

swizzler this is my first too. whats your EDD??

Rianna · 06/05/2006 11:03

whuzzelfrag it is my fourth, had to loose 25 kg after no 1, wasn't fun(I didn't breastfeed) with no 1 and 3 it was a bit easier (6 kg to lose)

wuzzlefraggle · 06/05/2006 11:07

are you going to bf this time?? (hi by the way Grin)

Justers · 06/05/2006 11:41

Hi there. I had a really bad stomach bug this week so any weight that i have put on i've lost cos i've not eaten properly since monday! I was really worried about the baby but my doctor checked its heartbeat and felt my tummy and everything seems fine. Appetite is back now so i'm away to meet my mum for lunch and stuff my face with lots of really bad things!!

Gingeme · 06/05/2006 12:59

Id love a girl wuzzlefraggle. We have 5 boys between us. Dh has 2 from his first marriage. I have 2 from mine and we have one together so yes would love a pink one please? he he I lost about a stone in 5 weeks with ds no3 and I found it realy hard to breast feed. I just sat in tears most of the time. Thought I had post natal depression but it turned out I had appendicitis! Whipped them out,put ds on the bottle and more or less kept the weight off. Putting it back on with this one though but trying to control it a bit more now the morning sickness has worn off.

Swizzler · 06/05/2006 13:19

Hi wuzzlefraggle (as in F Rock?)

I'm due on the 12th October. I'm hoping I won't be too big when it's very hot, but looks like it's going to be a hot summer..

Swizzler · 06/05/2006 13:23

Chocolate eaten BTW, plus meringue nests, cheese and some fruit that was in the fridge. Trying to be sensible during the week and then pig out one day at the weekend, but always end up eating too much :(

Swizzler · 06/05/2006 13:26

Oh, and haven't used the cocoa stuff as not keen on the smell, but have Avent body oil and a Lush bar with neroli in that's supposed to be good. Would also consider spitting on iron and walking backwards if it wuld help with the stretchmarks...

Think that's everything - hormones playing silly b*ers with my concentration :)

wuzzlefraggle · 06/05/2006 14:23

yup as in fraggle rock lol swizzler. lush stick? never heard of that one, is it any good?

gingeme, im sending you pink vibes Grin

wuzzlefraggle · 06/05/2006 14:23

oops, meant lush bar

Swizzler · 06/05/2006 14:53

Massage bar from Lush \link{http://www.lush.co.uk\here} (hope link works). It's the Therapy one - smells nice and lasts ages. Bit greasy, so use it at night rather than during the day. Am amazed at how much some of these pg skincare things cost!

wuzzlefraggle · 06/05/2006 15:19

thanks swizzler. yeah some of these pregnancy products are expensive.
how have you found your pregnancy so far?

Swizzler · 06/05/2006 16:29

wuzzle: I'm glad to be past the first 3 months - sickness, really tired, v stressed about poss m/c. Now I think I can feel the baby moving (that or it's wind ;)) so am feeling much more positive. Just waiting for the varicose veins/piles/insomnia of 3rd trimester!

How are things going with you? When are you due?

Gingeme · 06/05/2006 17:15

Thanks wuzzle pink vibes greatly received lol. Winkx

Rianna · 06/05/2006 18:38

I rember now that a midwife reccomended A Lush soap against sickness...but don't remember which one :(
anyway, for most of us the worst is past us and we are Blooming..(or so i'm told)
