Just out of curiosity has anyone had or having any cravings?? Im ot and never have realy!! x

Rianna · 06/05/2006 19:53

eveyr time I'm pregnant I crave dutch foods, from my childhood.

nowanearlyNicemum · 06/05/2006 19:56

I'm the same Rianna. Well, not dutch foods but english food. I've been dying for baked beans, marmite, dairy milk chocolate and cheddar cheese - none of these are terribly easy to come by in France :(

Gingeme · 06/05/2006 20:17

Oh poor you nowanearly I guess the only thing I realy enjoy more while being preg is realy cold fresh whole fat milk! Not very exciting but I drink about a pint a aday. Sometimes all at once Shock. Certainly not worried about the babys calcium anyway. xx

Rianna · 07/05/2006 08:44

you can buy alcohol free beer, it tastes ok.

Nearlynice: typical isn't it.
My mother in-law means well and send me stuff from italy...but i want 'broodje kroket' , never ever think about it but when i'm pregnant...
it is probably about safety. old people are the same so i'm always joking that i'm going back to holland for the old people's home. there's dutch old people's home in spain as well, but will they have fresh dutch vegetables??
(you know, old people often forget any language but their native one!)
i also find, going back to a'dam, can get only things like tapas and the family cooks only exotic food :(
noone udnerstands that i would like some old- fashioned dutch food now and then...

Gingeme · 07/05/2006 11:03

Good morning ladies. Scuse me for asking Rianna but what is 'broodje kroket'? x

wuzzlefraggle · 07/05/2006 11:35

morning ladies.

swizzler - had pretty bad morning (i say morning, i mean all bloddy day lol) sickness but all that seems to have gone now. like you said, im glad that i m past the first 3 months too and mine is due on the 24th October.

gingeme - yup ive had cravings, chicken burger (battered not breadcrumbed) in a sesame seed bun with lettuce and mayo lol. i ate those for about 2 weeks straight...im surprised i aint the size of a house lol. ummm, marmite, spaghetti bolognese. thats the biggest ones i think.

how is everyone esle getting on now, has all the sickness stopped??

Seona1973 · 07/05/2006 13:51

I'm glad to say I didnt have morning sickness but did feel queasy from time to time, especially when brushing my teeth. I still have the odd retch in the morning when I'm using the toothbrush but so far I've managed not to bring anything up (TMI, I know!!).

I am looking forward to my appointment on Tuesday - hope to hear babies heartbeat for the first time (havent seen the midwife for 8 weeks so havent heard anything yet). Cant believe thats almost 18 weeks gone by - not long till we're halfway there!!

Gingeme · 07/05/2006 19:36

Good luck for Tues Seona. I still havnt heard babys heart beat not even when I had my 16 week scan! I was just saying to my dh this morning how quick it seems to have gone (Im 15 weeks tomm!).Make the most of it though when were all big and heavy and hot well be willing it all to go quicker he he xx

Swizzler · 08/05/2006 10:18

Seona - I heard the heartbeat for the first time at my 16w appointment (now 17w and a bit). It was amazing, and very reassuring.

Wuzzle - I know, 'morning' sickness, hah! More like 'feel like hell for two months solid'. V v boring.

Though the sickness has passed, I do find that I get lightheaded and slightly queasy more often, especially when I haven't had anything to eat for a while. Good reason for snacking all the time.

Cravings: marmite, hummus, sweet stuff (trying to resist that one - I manages to eat 6 meringue nests on Sat and felt ratehr ill afterwards), food generally :). Not fried stuff though, as it makes me feel ill.

Highlander · 08/05/2006 13:25

I'm only 18 weeks and I'm in mat tops already Sad And this sprog just will not stop kicking - hmm, hope he doesn't turn out to be a non-sleeper.

Just like last time, I'm completely off red wine, but oh boy is champagne gooooooooooooooood Grin

paow · 08/05/2006 13:49

Hi all, nothing to report, I am having a really happy time/never felt so happy in life, it's lovely to know a little one is coming.
I've had my mw app and it went very well, have another appointment for 4 weeks time, I found all the info given was really helpful and really liked the free book and the pack they give you.

On the alcohol note. I'm staying off it and had a alcohol free beer called Biteburger in my local, it really is delish, tastes wonderful, much better than kalibur.

Take care

totallyfloaty35 · 08/05/2006 14:10

Highlander,i been in maternity tops for 3wks now and im only 17wks,kept flashing my gut in my normal tops.
Itried the alcohol free stuff but its gross,am having a beer or glass of wine every 10days,rest of the time i just sniff everyone elses, they find it annoying...cant think whyWink

marthahm · 08/05/2006 17:42

i had a beer this weekend for the first time since pregant and it was fantastic, very relaxing and lovely to be able to have a drink with everyone else. i did have quarter of a glass of cheapo prosecco afterwards and felt like was getting a little too relaxed so gave up on that. but i think from now on a beer every now and then will be fabulous. or maybe cider which i love. i have been in maternity clothes for ages, although today i'm sporting my favorite jumper which only comes down to just under my tummy button so look a little silly with big stripe of white t shirt underneath.

Gingeme · 09/05/2006 08:25

Good morning ladies. Not being a drinker being without alcahol realy doesnt bother me. Went out to celebrate my ds 12th bday last night and went to an eat as much as you can erm I mean like chinese. Normaly I realy love it and try most of the dishes they have. But for some unknown reason I didnt eat that much this time. I found alot of it very greasy .Thought the banana fritters and syrup were extremely yummy Grin. We went to see Mission Impossible 3. What a brill film. The baby was realy on the move while I was watching it. Must have been all the excitement!

Sunshine78 · 09/05/2006 08:33

Morning everyone on the drinking note just think how many turns your clocking up at driving so when the babies do arrive we'll be able to drink each time we go out!

totallyfloaty35 · 09/05/2006 10:00

My Dh never learnt to drive,no point he is always on a tour bus.
Ibet my alcohol craving goes when i have baby,i usually dont drink so yearning for beer is a bit of a shockShock
On a happier note, have booked my 20wk scan with the Create clinic (they did that tv show about the babys development in the womb)its great as they also do a 4d scan as part of it,so i get a 15min video as well.Discovered that due to my horrible treatment during first birth i actually have panic attacks when i go into a nhs hospital now,Dh was shocked when i went for an apt at clinic in one that i started shaking and crying then couldnt breathe.
Its turning into a bloody expensive pg thoughSad

totallyfloaty I know what you mean about NHS hospitals and bad experiances mine offered me counciling with a MW which has really helped put DS birth into perspective and now I feel OK again with the whole thing. For a long time DS was going to be an only one due to my experiances now look at me!

totallyfloaty35 · 09/05/2006 10:33

Didnt get counselling at my one so had dd2 at private hospital, was nice but i still felt very managed.Got independant mw now and she is lovely plus if i end up in hospital she will fight my corner.I feel quite happy about this birth . Convinced its a boy though. Also got round to weighing myself at last,i have put on 5lbs,almost back to my pre-pregnancy weight. So going swimming in order to keep hugeness under control. It does help that im still off chocolate, but im real fond of cake nowGrin

hope that everything is going well today or you Seona!

how long after your first scan did you get the appointment for your next scan?? its been 3 weeks since my 1st scan and ive still not heard anything (apart from my bllods results)

wuzzlefraggle · 09/05/2006 12:17

i meant for you seona lol

Seona1973 · 09/05/2006 12:39

I'm just back from my midwife appointment (although did nip to Morrisons afterwards for something for our dinner!) Was in the clinic for ages - appointment was at 9.35am but didnt get taken till after 10am. Got weighed and height done and got blood pressure taken which was quite normal for a change (normally goes high at the doctors). Then had to wait for the consultant who had to spread himself between 3 midwives - he had a quick look on their scanner (which is about a million years old) and saw the heart beating but baby refused to move.

Got my bloods done for the down/spina bifida screening but after the midwife tried 3 times to get blood, she had to send me to the phlebotomist to get them to do it instead as she couldnt get anything out - will have lovely bruises tomorrow!!

DD was starting to get very bored by the end so I'm glad we had taken 2 My Little Ponies, a banana and a drink as they kept her occupied a bit longer.

5 weeks till the next appointment, yeah!!
