Seona1973 · 09/04/2006 13:40

Hi everyone, I am a newbie. I am due sometime in October (not too sure of dates as when I went for my 12 week scan they said I was only 10 weeks gone). I am getting another scan on Thursday as bubs was too small to do any of the measurements - but did see the heart beating and movement so there was definitely something there!!

I live in Scotland and this will be my second child - dd will be almost 3 when this one arrives. Hope to get to know you all soon.

Skytvadict, sorry to hear your news - you must be devastated. Take care of yourself.

wuzzlefraggle · 09/04/2006 14:17

welcome Seona! congrats and here's wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy.

nowanearlyNicemum · 09/04/2006 19:24

I'm so so sorry to hear your news skytvaddict :(

Finally have my scan tomorrow afternoon, will have to go on my own and am absolutely crapping myself.

Welcome to newbies.

marthahm · 10/04/2006 08:40

hi newbies
good luck nowanearlynicemum let us know how it went.
bad luck with the booking apt gingeme, sort of thing i do all the time.
i managed to throw up all over our local high street yesterday morning so i'm definitely not through with the sickness. it's the first time i've been sick in public since i was 8 and it's mortifying. i felt like everyone was thinking that young hussy must have had too much to drink last night. horrible, so much worse than just feeling sick. the awful thing is that every time i gag now i think it's going to happen again Sad...it just has...think not good to dwell on this any longer

nowanearlyNicemum · 10/04/2006 09:36

hi marthahm,
I know what you mean about the throwing up in public thing... when I was expecting dd I used to throw up several times virtually every morning on my way to work - in the gutter, in bins and once in the metro. it's soooo degrading.
this time round so far I've managed to puke up all over the car park just outside dp's office when I went to collect him from work. just so he could show off about what a classy girl I was, obviously Wink
I must be suffering from serious nappy brain as I said that my scan was this afternoon - it's tomorrow afternoon! Will certainly be on here filling you in afterwards.
hope you're all having a good day :)

wuzzlefraggle · 10/04/2006 10:32

good luck and hope al goes well with the scan tomorrow nowandnearly!! :)

so sorry to hear about you ladies that have been throwing up all over the place in public...i bet that must be horrible!! you have my sympathy with that one!

hope that all the rest of you ladies are ok and taking it easy Grin

Gingeme · 10/04/2006 13:14

Yeah I did it I went to the right place for my booking in appt! All is well. Got my scan date too Its in 2 weeks trouble is its at 3.30pm. Bad time for the school run. Will have to ask nicely ds friends Mums to see if theyll look after them for a while. Mw didnt listen for the heartbeat though is that right for the booking in appt? Im still feeling so sick at night. Usualy wake up around midnight and feel so dreadful it takes me about an hour to get back to sleep. Afriend is concinced Im having a girl cause of this!

paow · 10/04/2006 13:19

Hello all,

So sorry to hear your news SkyTV, hope you are OK.

Welcome to the new girls!

Hope your sickness is going away now that we approach the 3rd trimester!

Can't wait for my scan on Wednesday, I'm really scared and won't be able to rest until I see something on the screen.

Take care.

wuzzlefraggle · 10/04/2006 13:24

paow, hope the scan goes well! i know what you mean about not being able to relax till u see everything on the screen...only i have to wait till next thursday to be able to lol. its driving me insane!!

Gingeme · 10/04/2006 17:00

Went for my booking in appt today and told my mw about me still feeling so sick. She said ginger is very good for stopping nausea. I hate ginger but does anyone know if there is such a thing as ginger you cant taste! I know that sounds strange but they do do garlic tablets that dont smell of garlic surely there must be something. She also said travel sickness bands are good. Has anyone tried these if so any good?

marthahm · 10/04/2006 17:12

gingeme, i have tried everything. don't think i've ever come across ginger that doesn't seem like ginger. i wore the wristbands for ages but to be honest have little faith in them. my current fav. is hoola hoops as recommended by someone else-works a treat (sometimes). imagine my fury when dh confessed he'd eaten the last pack!
i am quite proud that when i threw up 2nd time today i managed to extricate myself from the neonatal intensive care unit where i was working and get to the loo to be sick in private.-small mercies.

Gingeme · 10/04/2006 19:02

Oh bum! Thanks martham. Not sure what to do now. Maybe Ill buy some ginger biscuits and hold my nose while I eat them or something. If I cant do that Im sure my ds's will soon polish them off for me. Guess Ill have to hope that it will pass once I turn 12 weeks pg which happens to be Wednesday!!!!!

nowanearlyNicemum · 10/04/2006 19:05

gingeme - twinings do a Lemon Burst tea that has ginger in it and I really don't think you can taste it at all. It's the only hot drink I can face at the moment. worth a try maybe?

Poppyshed · 10/04/2006 19:52

Evening everyone. Skytvaddict, so sorry to hear your news, take care of yourself and all the very best for the future. Good luck with the scan tomorrow Nowanearlynicemum. Only news here is that I got my scan date through today, 10th May 09:30am. I'm kind of disappointed I have to wait so long, I was so hoping it would be earlier. I'm really tempted to pay for a private scan but we can't really afford it. Oh well, good luck and good health to everyone, hope the sickness starts to end for all you poorly souls.....

Gingeme · 10/04/2006 21:40

Thanks nowaneaelyNICEMUM Ill have a look for that tomm. XX

nowanearlyNicemum · 11/04/2006 09:48

scan this afternoon and I'm soooooooo worked up about it.
I've got loads of stuff to do this morning and I can't concentrate on anything at all.
aaaaaaarrrrgggghhhhhh!

paow · 11/04/2006 11:10

Good luck! I'm sure you'll be fine!

On the sickness, the lemon tea with ginger sounds perfect!
My mum mentioned lemon. You can make your own lemon tea/iced tea just squeeze half a lemon on to a cup and top it up with water, you could use honey too.
Hope it helps, seems to help me feel better.

Gingeme · 11/04/2006 11:27

Good luck with your scan this afternoon. Is this your first baby nowanearly? All sounds very nice. I have honey and lemon when I have a cold. Its yummy cause I put looooooads of honey in. Thanks for all the help. xxSmile

nowanearlyNicemum · 11/04/2006 11:41

no this is no.2 - dd is currently 19 months
I don't remember being nervous at all about scans when I was pregnant last time - but maybe that's because I only discovered Mumsnet after she was born Wink
I'm sure all will be fine - I just can't wait to see the little wriggler on the screen. And I'd have loved dp to be there too.

Gingeme · 11/04/2006 12:38

Oh how lovely. I love babies at that age. Lucky you having a dd. This is my 4th pg and I have 3 boys already. My youngest ds is 2 on Thursday. Are you gonna find out what this one is?

majormoo · 11/04/2006 21:07

Nowanearly Hope scan went well.
Gingeme-I am not a fan of ginger either, but I took Boots pregnancy supplements that had ginger in them. I think it worked, because when they ran out and I bought a different sort that didn't have ginger in them, I noticed I was waking up with nausea. May be worth a try although, I haven;t really had a problem with sickness-just felt a bit dodgy now and then.
Hope everyone else is well-I am 14 weeks today and luckily starting to get my energy back-well compared to a couple of weeks ago.

nowanearlyNicemum · 11/04/2006 21:11

one wriggly bean in fine fettle signing in for the long haul!!!!

hope you're all well xxx

Gingeme · 11/04/2006 22:32

Thanks majormoo. Dont feel too bad today actualy. Hope this is a sign of things to come or just a one off! Well done nowanearlyNicemum. Thats brill. Cant wait till my scan. My due date is 20 Oct but who knows all my others have come on different dates. Oh glad it went well for you. x

whiffy · 12/04/2006 08:49

Good news, nownice. I also had scan couple of days ago and all looks A-OK. Waiting for bloods back but nuchal looked fine.

I also am a fan of hula hoops for the nausea thing, though am starting to feel better and my appetite seems to have gone back to normal, other than a craving for blood oranges (which you can only seem to get from Sainsbury's and then not every week...).

On the negative side I seem to have traded in my nausea for pelvic pain - the bloody ligaments have decided to go already! And I'm only 14 weeks! Had me in tears this week. Only good thing to come from it was conversation with overnight medical practice (a practice not bestowed with a reputation for brilliance in these parts down here in Kent). Me: "I am 14 weeks and having really bad stabbing/cramping pains across my whole abdomon which feel like extreme period pain and has me doubling up in pain whenever I try to move" He: "Mmmmmm. Interesting.... you know it could be your baby starting to kick"

hahahahahahahahahahaha I am giving birth to love child of Bruce Lee obviously Grin
