Good morning and oh dear whiffy. Make sure you get lots of rest. Glad your scan went well. Did the baby have a bandana on? he he . My sickness has been vastly improved now. A little queasy in the morning but once breakfast has been eaten Im ok. Im 12 weeks today too so the whole miscariage thing is no longer an issue. Oh well busy day today. Hope you ladies are all ok. See you later xxx

nowanearlyNicemum · 12/04/2006 09:53

poor you whiffy, that sounds really painful. your baby beginning to kick, my a*!!!?! I don't know what they can do for pelvic pain - but there MUST be something. Don't suffer in silence whatever you do - we've a long way to go yet! glad your scan went well though.

please can you all stop talking about hula hoops - I now have a mega-craving for them and we can't get them over here. not fair [sulky, bottom lip emoticon]

wuzzlefraggle · 12/04/2006 10:10

nowandnearly, glad that your scan went well!

whiffy, sorry to hear of the pelic pain, ouch

my first scan date is slowly getting closer.cummon next thursday, stop dragging your heals! lol. havnt been sick now for 4 days, which is good, nausea still seems to be hanging around a little tho. am 12+2 today.

take it easy every1 xox

wuzzlefraggle · 12/04/2006 10:11

i mean pelvic...its my pregnancy brains

Gemmitygem · 12/04/2006 10:35

hi ladies,

glad your scans went well whiffy and nowanearlynicemum!

You can't get hula hoops in Kazakhstan Angry! so will have to dream. although my colleague just brought me back a huge tube of those mentos fruit sweets!

re: pelvic pain, also getting it, like in the sciatic nerve at base of bum/hips? feels like rheumatism. worse after exercise. is this normal with 1st preg?

Off to Uzbekistan for a few days tomorrow (see the old mosques etc, interesting place, pity about the regime), and then next weds to Belgium to see in laws and have second scan at 15 weeks, and looking round the hospital as thinking of having it there, then to UK for 2 weddings and see the parents, then back to Kazakhstan! Feel a bit geographically challenged but will be good to get the scan..

marthahm · 12/04/2006 10:39

whiffy, i saw on the stats thread that you work in london. you could go to the osteopathic centre for children near faringdon. they only treat pregnant women, women who've just had babies and kids from 0-19. it's a charity so they rely on donations for treatment based on what the patients can afford.
have to admit that i work there part time so as have said before am biased re osteopathy, but it really does help and the osteopathic centre for children specialises in this kind of thing.
hope it improves soon.

mmmmchocolate · 12/04/2006 10:49

Hi everyone. Can i join in?

I am 28 and have DD who is 19 months and am 13 weeks and 5 days.

Had no morning sickness just stupidly tired all the time. had scan monday and was told all was well, scanner was really grumpy and didn't show us any of the baby which i was p'd off about but being me never said anything!!!

nowanearlyNicemum · 12/04/2006 10:52

congratulations mmmchocolate - welcome to the club!
our little ones will have the same age gap.

whiffy, the osteopathy clinic sounds exactly what you need ... get down there!!

wuzzlefraggle · 12/04/2006 10:54

welcome to the thread mmmmchocolate :)

Gemmitygem · 12/04/2006 12:19

welcome mmmmchocolate: good name!

I'm also 13w 5 days today!

real bump by the evenings! 'pythonated' DH calls it, bless him Grin

wuzzlefraggle · 12/04/2006 13:07

gemmitygem, is this your first?

majormoo · 12/04/2006 13:16

welcome mmmchocolate
whiffy and nowanearly glad scans went well.
The pelvic pain sounds a nightmare. Don't some people get SPD (not sure what it stands for exactly but have noticed lots of women talking about it on here.)Could it be that?

I am feeling really good all of a sudden and for once not haggard and nackered at all!

Have told boss news now who said 'oh no well you'll never come back now, not with two kids. Can you afford not to work?' Charming. I told her I intended to come back but was pretty narked that she made the assumption I wouldn't want my job anymore. I like getting my own pay packet thank you and yes I do need it too! She did say congratulations at the end of the conversation though!

whiffy · 12/04/2006 13:48

Oh Majormoo, your boss sounds like a nightmare - I think the women bosses are the worst.

Yes, it is definately SPD (rather than junior going round my insides on a quadbike) - I know as I had it with my first pg, though wasn't expecting to whip round quite so soon. And Gemmity, yes I think this is what will be causing your sciatica-type pain. What a bummer, eh? I will definately try out the osteopath - I haven't used them for me before, but they were brilliant at clearing up DS's sleep/glue ear problem, so I am a fan. It also fits in with my total susceptibility for all things alternative - I never used to believe in the stuff until a reflexologist 'turned' my breech baby by massaging my feet, and a hypnotist sorted me out for giving birth.

So as a result of these experiences, I now believe in santa claus again and am looking forward to the visit of the tooth fairy when the hula hoops inevitably cause all my teeth to fall out this time round Wink

mmmmchocolate, hello. Didn't you join us a while back? Or maybe another thread...I remember seeing your name and instantly having to go to snack machine for maltesers. Hope all goes well for you.

Talking of chocolate, Gemmity, you might be missing the hula hoops but I'm certainly envious of your belgium trip. A scan AND fab chocolate. Sounds better than the mother-in-law trip I've got coming up. It'll be Peters' Pies and Bernard Matthews wall-to-wall, and she'll be sat in a corner force-feeding my DS with cheapo crappy brand-you-ve-never-heard-of-2-for-1-at-Kwik-Save chocolate, whilst telling me how I'm bringing him up all wrong. Fab.

And in case you're wondering, yes my focus on food is becoming obsessive, I know. Can't help it (she says, munching on sausauge roll)...

paow · 12/04/2006 13:56

Hi ya, glad about the scans, mine today was brilliant, I was so relieved when they found the little one jumping around, it was so clear and I saw all parts of the body and also spine and skull, little hands moving around, so amazing.
Due date 21st of Ocotber now.
From now on we can be expected to start getting real big!!
Take care.
P

marthahm · 12/04/2006 14:21

brilliant paow! it's fab isn't it to see everything going well.

i looked in one of the numerous pg books dh has brought home -(think it was the over £20 free deliv. on amazon that did it-talk about overkill!) anyway, cheerful start to the 2nd trimester on friday, it says, be careful, many women start to have excessive weight gain from now-charming, i think i'll concentrate on looking forward to feeling the baby move. and roll on the hula hoops, and vanilla haagen das with golden syrup.
a friend told me this morning that she couldn't see i was pg at all and her friend who is 12 weeks, ie almost 2 weeks earlier, is huge with her first baby. now i'm thinking i'm growing a runt. it probably seems mad but i wish i had an enormous bump.
whiffy, i know what you mean re: m-in-law. i am trying to train myself not to be so vile anymore but i keep slipping.
hi mmmchocolate, i think i'm the same due date as you too.

Gemmitygem · 12/04/2006 15:49

hi everyone,

wuzzle, yes it's my first. A girl at work was pg and didn't show till about 17 weeks, at all! So thought I'd be the same. Will tell work in 3 weeks' time when I get back from holiday, but it's already quite obvious unless I wear a tailored shirt and jacket..

re the bump thing, I think it's just chance, and might depend on figure type, cos I have a quite thin and 'boyish' figure with zero hips, and normally tiny boobs, so very obvious when's something bulges either at the top or bottom!

Are you actually supposed to gain weight, and how much? Heard that in America they weigh preg women constantly..

Whiffy, I forgot about the chocolate in Belgium. Not to mention the nice chips... though why they eat them with mayo is beyond me!

paow, scan sounds great! Amazing to think so much is going on in there already, and it's so active!

right, enough waffling, back to packing!

MrsBlobby · 12/04/2006 17:00

Hi everyone

I've not been around for a few days - has been great catching up, though!

Since I was last online I have had my scan and my booking appointment. Both went well! :) It was such a relief to see the little one - it's still so hard to believe it is actually inside me! Only thing was the radiographer was really brusque and the whole thing was so quick - I really wanted to stay and relish the moment, but I guess all they are interested in is whether it looks normal and healthy.

My booking appointment was today. MW seems really nice.

It all seems so much more concrete now - how exciting!!!

It was also my birthday on Monday, so this has turned out to be the best birthday I've had for such a long time. We've waited so long for this pregnancy and there have been some hard times, but I guess things generally work out in the end!

majormoo · 12/04/2006 19:16

congrats MrsBlobby and paow on the scans. Glad you had a good birthday Blobby.
Gemmity-enjoy your trip. I love chips with mayo!!
marthahm-when I was pregnant with DD had a small bump the whole way through and got quite paranoid about it as people kept mentioning it. Midwives weren't concerned at all though. It's just that we are all different shapes/heights etc. DD wasn't huge-7lbs 4-which suited me just fine! This time I am showing already but then all my stomach muscles have gone to pot.

Whiffy good luck with the mum in law. We are seeing DH's parents Friday. My father in law has decided I need to listen to classical music now so has bought me some Bach cds and will be quizzing me about them all day Friday.

Are you all doing your pelvic floor exercises? I am rubbish about doing mine, but my friend had a very similar experience to you Whiffy, so I really should.

mmmmchocolate · 12/04/2006 21:19

evening everyone,
everyone is so nice, thank you for making me feel so welcome.
I am glad others have bumps already, i was starting to worry i am 13weeks and 5 days and i have had to get my maternity clothes out the loft already. feel like people are laughing at me for being in them so early!!! anyone else feel like this???

wuzzlefraggle · 13/04/2006 08:37

so glad to hear that all the scans went well!!!

gemmitygem - i seem to be getting the same thing, in the evening my tummy seems to be much more pregnant looking and this is my first too.

not much to report. same old really lol. just getting very impatient because next thursday aint getting here quick enough and i need to know everythings ok.

whiffy · 13/04/2006 09:32

mmmchocolate, I'm in your camp. not 4 months yet but big as a whale. I can't face the maternity clothes yet, though, so have splashed out on size 16 M&S stuff for the moment. Must admit it is an absolute joy to get home at night, pull on my sweatpants and slob it. I Spend the whole day at work pulling my stomach in. Only my boss knows I'm pg so far ... I work on a 300-person trading floor in a bank, surrounded by young turks (280 of them being blokes)... being pg is definately not the fashionable look here. Will have to spend next 5 months hiding behind big prada handbag or something.

totallyfloaty35 · 13/04/2006 10:03

Would love to hide behind big Prada bag Whiffy,do you have a spare Grin

OP posts:
nowanearlyNicemum · 13/04/2006 10:53

right you lot
I put in a simple request that you STOP talking about hula hoops and what happens??? Everyone's talking about them!!! I can't get them here and I'm now absolutely gagging for some - not to mention a sausage roll or two! It's torture.

congratulations on your scans paow and MrsBlobby - great to hear that the beans are thriving.

I've had to dig my maternity clothes out too mmmchocolate. I feel perfectly ridiculous in them because to be quite honest they're too big for me right now (they got seriously stretched by the end of last pregnancy!!) but they're soooo much more comfy than any of my 'normal' clothes I don't care. Comfort is the key here :) I don't think I'll be hiding behind a Prada bag - it'll be more like one of those giant blue and yellow Ikea bags for me :o
Love the 'pythonated' expression by the way gemmity! When are you off on your whistle-stop tour?

MrsBlobby · 13/04/2006 12:51

Majormoo - re. pelvic floor exercises, I do them when I think of it, but to be honest I keep forgetting! Whenever I have done them, though, I find doing them to music really helps! I did my 200 no problem when we went to see the Sugababes the other day!!!

RE. maternity clothes, my MIL bought me a maternity top from M&S for my birthday, but it really is seriously 'maternity', with great big pleats at the front, so it's probably a bit of overkill to start wearing it now!

Whiffy - I now have this great image of a pg woman surrounded by male traders!!!! Oh, dear, me thinks the mickey will be well and truly taken out of you!
