Elijah
Gideon
Emmanuel

Definitely have never taught any boys with these names

Passmethecrisps · 12/10/2012 21:19

Hayden, Jayden, and kayden? No!

ValiumQueen · 12/10/2012 21:22

I love Gideon, but DH has said no. Perhaps I should just divorce him Grin. I love Gideon very much!

Titsalinabumsquash · 12/10/2012 21:22

I love,

Hamish
Saul
Rory
Patrick

This little one has so far been a Stefan, Jeremy, Jonah and a James before we decided. Smile

ValiumQueen · 12/10/2012 21:26

I love Saul and Hamish, but DH has said no. There is a pattern emerging. We considered Jonah too.

We could not call him Rory, as DH already thinks he is following the life of 'simple rules' and he would die young... Bless him.

MissMummy1 · 12/10/2012 21:32

pass seriously! They were horrible little shits 'delightful children'.

I have an uncle hamish, but he's a complete creep so that's sort of put me off the name. I also know a westie dog called Hamish...

Passmethecrisps · 12/10/2012 21:35

That shouldn't be allowed.

Sydney
Stanley

I had a hamster called Sydney.

One of the kids at school suggested Rupert.

Passmethecrisps · 12/10/2012 21:37

I knew someone whose siblings were called Miles and Jiles. He was Iain. When he had kids he had three boys - Miles, Jiles and Rory. I'll bet Rory was chuffed

MissMummy1 · 12/10/2012 21:37

I have an ex called Finlay. Dickhead of a guy. Nice name though, if a little too common in these parts now? Personally I prefer the spelling Findley.

Passmethecrisps · 12/10/2012 21:44

I was going to say I prefer Findlay.

ShellyBobbs · 12/10/2012 21:47

Gideon? Don't you remember that kids program years ago with the duck with the long neck?

ShellyBobbs · 12/10/2012 21:49
Showing my age, it's a 70's kids TV show Blush
Passmethecrisps · 12/10/2012 21:50

yes yes yes!! Years ago I was the only one who had ever heard of that programme. I used to search online and couldn't find any mention. Eventually I emailed channel 4 and someone emailed me back saying I hadn't imagined it. It was sort of bible stories.

Passmethecrisps · 12/10/2012 21:51

Shelly, you are the only other person I have ever come across who also saw it. I honestly thought I had made it up.

ShellyBobbs · 12/10/2012 21:51

I only remember it because I used to feel really sorry for it lol.

ShellyBobbs · 12/10/2012 21:52

But for that reason alone I could never name a child of mine Gideon, just because of that duck Grin

Sophiathesnowfairy · 12/10/2012 21:53

Murray is great, as is Hamish, love it!

Long drive today time for sleeping.

Xx

YellowWellies · 12/10/2012 22:00

Hmmm Gideon - the opening syllable sounds too much like Git for me. If you liked Jonah - how about Jonas? (Can have either a hard or a soft J at the start) it's on our list (sssssh don't tell DH I'm sharing it!). I love Hamish but had a second cousin who committed suicide with that name and it just has sad memories in our family sadly. Findley is nice. How about some cool Orcadian names if you want something leftfield - Magnus (often shortened to Mags)? Thorfinn? Torleif? Leif?

ComradeJing · 12/10/2012 22:46

I need a name that goes with DDs Seraphina

I'm in serious love with Harrison Edward Surname or Edward Percy Surname or (personal favourite, I give not a shit if people hate it) Rufus Edward Surname. Edward and Percy are both family names.

I'm having a lot of painless branston hicks - bump keeps getting very tight.

Dixiebell · 12/10/2012 22:47

I asked DS tonight what we should call the new baby when he arrives. He said "erm....Jess the Cat". Grin

kirrinIsland · 12/10/2012 22:55

VQ Solomon was top of my list for boys names, but DP wouldn't hear of it. If it turns out the sonographer was wrong and this baby is actually a boy then I'm hoping the power of surprise will help me get my way with that one!

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 12/10/2012 23:05

I'm looking for advice from detective really... Or anyone more in the know than me. As I said yesterday I was up at hospital being monitored for 3 hours due to reduced movements. They told me to call back if any concerns but my question is this, baby is still not as active as his/her 'normal' in that it's moving but not what I'm used to. Do i just assume this is baby's new 'normal'? Does that even make sense?.

shanelle5 · 12/10/2012 23:12

This is a great website for those stuck with names
www.nameberry.com
No good with links sorry Blush
It has some really good suggestions but mostly I liked the way they are grouped together, ie literary names, names from history, greek names, cool names and if you like* then you ill love ** etc.
Our little man has been Gabriel William since the day the weestick showed up 2 lines and weve not deviated from it at all. My only worry is that both my teenage Girls hate it and said independently that he will get teased. Apparently both have Gabriel's at their school/college and they get a lot of "gay" name calling Sad I did wobble on it and wonder if we are out of touch as we are oldies (40) and if it were maybe a little feminine, but all the adult comments, including all on here have always been so positive that Im just ignoring the DD's. Besides if you could hear some of their alternatives you'd shudder. (Hunter, Riley, various chav names!!)

shanelle5 · 12/10/2012 23:12

Oh I DID manage a link Smile

Passmethecrisps · 12/10/2012 23:19

Shanelle, the thing is that by the time he gets to the age where children think to be unkind over such things, who knows what the in thing to be bullied for will be. I know a Gabriel and I have never known him to have an issue. Commenting on things being 'gay' is already passé and will certainly be no issue in 13 years time
