Leggings are the way to go detective

I was wondering how much relationship there is between the births had by mum and mil and the birth you are likely to have? I know obviously that medical intervention has changed but is there any correlation between, say, your mum giving birth early and whether you will give birth early? Does that make any sense at all whatsoever?

ValiumQueen · 12/10/2012 20:11

pass yeah, that name is gone. The sore patch at the top of your bump will likely stretch before long. Unfortunately. I remember that pain well. With this one, my patch is just above my belly button.

Erazmus?

ValiumQueen · 12/10/2012 20:13

AFAIK the best indicator of your birthing experience is how your mum and sisters got on. But that is tenuous.

applepieinthesky · 12/10/2012 20:13

I don't know Pass but it would be interesting to know. Both me and my brother were 2 days late and I would be pleased with that.

TheDetective · 12/10/2012 20:19

Mum - bang on EDD.

Me T+13.

GRRRRRR!

VQ Ezra?

YellowWellies · 12/10/2012 20:20

VQ oh crap my twin sisters' two births were in her words 'utter clusterfucks' and 'ended up with either her or her baby in intensive care'. We don't have an intensive care up here

My Mum had identical twins 6 weeks early but managed a natural birth (in the days when a vaginal birth of a breech wasn't considered a radioactive event!) but me and my sis were only 4lbers and this bub is already fatter than that.

Oh shite...

Passmethecrisps · 12/10/2012 20:20

Thanks VQ. I keep moisturising the patch but it feels really red and sore. I keep expecting a stretch mark - sounds like I will get one soon enough.

Ok - my mum had three of us. First was a total trauma but arrived on his due date. I was 2 days early and my wee sister was 2 days late. My MIL had three all of whom were early. My wee sister is officially due two weeks after me but keeps measuring much bigger so we will have I wait and see whether her birth experience and mine have any relationship. She is physically very different to me so is it quite likely to be different anyway?

Passmethecrisps · 12/10/2012 20:23

Ok. Let's go with the theory that our mother's and sister's birthing experiences will be good indicators only if they had good ones.

VQ I have never met an Erazmus. This is usually a good thing.

Titsalinabumsquash · 12/10/2012 20:24

First - induced at 6pm bang on EDD for pre eclampsia and me crying to the obs because I'd been in for 8 out of 10 months contractions started at 11pm, waters broken at about 9am, epidural and all the gas and air given shortly after, slept until 4pm where DS was out within 3 pushes and a 4th degree tear.

Second - in hospital at 36+6 with reaction to painkillers due to SPD, was ready to go home when I realised every 2 minutes I was jumping off the bed because I couldn't physically sit down, realised it was contractions, examined there and then, 8cm dilated. Whisked up to labour ward, walked around for 20 minutes, got on the bed to be examined, waters broke. 2 pushes DS2 arrived, not a scratch on me. Grin

Titsalinabumsquash · 12/10/2012 20:29

No idea with mum's we were all c-sections because she was too tiny to contemplate a vaginal birth. (4ft 10, size 2 feet!)

Eldest sister. 1 induced, blood pressure issues at 39 weeks, 2nd born in the toilet at home after 2 noticeable contractions at 39 weeks, 3rd born in hospital corridor after an hours labour at 39 weeks.

Sister 2, both babies born after 3 days labour at 41 weeks, both forceps births.

All very different Grin

ValiumQueen · 12/10/2012 20:38

I did say the link was tenuous.

I do like Ezra. Have considered that. Have considered every bloody name there is!

YellowWellies · 12/10/2012 20:43

I did a summer's digging with an archaeology Professor called Ezra back in my undergraduate yoof. Nice guy!

Passmethecrisps · 12/10/2012 20:44

What about Gabriel?

YellowWellies · 12/10/2012 20:45

I love that name - still being considered as a middle name by us.... gorgeous gorgeous name. Gabe is such a nice nickname too.

ValiumQueen · 12/10/2012 20:49

DH likes Gabriel. I cannot imagine shouting it in soft play. He also likes Raphael. I have similar feelings towards that name.

horseylady · 12/10/2012 20:50

I know an Ezra lovely chap!!!!

Not angel though vq poor child!! I would call mine emille but dh hates it :(

Nan two weeks late with all three, mother bang on with me early with sis.

Passmethecrisps · 12/10/2012 20:52

VQ I am currently dredging through the entire school roll by memory for you.

Titsalinabumsquash · 12/10/2012 20:55

I know a lady called Angel, please don't call him that VQ!

I like Gabriel (nn Gabe) and Ezra, also like Sebastian. Smile

Passmethecrisps · 12/10/2012 20:59

Samuel?

YellowWellies · 12/10/2012 21:03

VQ am not sure how you can imagine yelling 'Angel' at soft play but not Raphael or Gabriel? (given they're both angelic names too and also much more yellable!)

kirrinIsland · 12/10/2012 21:04

Thanks Shelley I like the idea of it being quicker! And tits apart from the spd part, your second one sounds pretty good!

Gabriel is a lovely name :)

My mum had us (twins) 2 weeks early and both 4lbers so I don't think I can compare to that, and DD was 5days early and just shy of 7lb - I don't know if the fact that she was early means this one will be too but I certainly hope so!!

ValiumQueen · 12/10/2012 21:07

You are right as always YW Grin

pass I like Samuel, but it is popular non? We were gonna call the girls Solomon had they not been girls. Still like Solomon, but DH has gone off it.

Passmethecrisps · 12/10/2012 21:14

I suppose all I am going on is the fashion from 11 to 18 years ago. I think Sam is popular but Samuel maybe not so.

MissMummy1 · 12/10/2012 21:15

Please avoid Hayden, Jayden and Kayden (shudders at memory of triplets last year called this).

How about Ruaridh? (pr roo-a-ree) Or I know lots of lovely wee boys called Scott! Callum/Calum? A friend's just had a boy and called him Murray. Alexander? Ewan?

MissMummy1 · 12/10/2012 21:17

Bit of a Scottish theme there!!

I also taught an adorable 6 year old called Dubhgall (pr Dougal) last year!
