Thought I would start the thread.

HC Sorry that our MIL is like that. I guess theres not much you can do apart from telling DH to stick up fo you. My Mil is ok but has her odd ways. She was against me bfing and was determined with DD that she would be dressed in pink frilly dresses. Soon put a stop to all that and I just used to ignore her comments.

The kicks argetting a lot stronger now. They are still fairly low down and sometimes in my bladder.

Im glad im not the only one breaking wind like a trooper. Im almost afraid to bend over in work Blush

Im hoping to go back to work 3 1/2 possibly 4 days a week. Im going to put DD in nursery 2/3 mornings but mil will have both the rest of the time. Id love to do less but when I work out how much id lose its shocking and weve just extended our morgage for the extension. The other option ive got is to work in the call centre and do shifts but I dont fancy the weekend shifts. Im too frightened to tell my mnagaer yet.

dd is tiny height wise too - only 99cm! Its funny because dd was almost a pound heavier than ds at birth, but ds is now the big one. I should have known ds was going to be big becaus he doubled his birthweight at 7 weeks - very proud of this as it was all my own work Grin

Good Evening Ladies,

Sorry to hear how poorly you've been feeling Aggie, but I was LOL at your caring family. I love people using expressions like that. And Bumpy, also sorry to hear about your ear infection. That can be very painful, so good thing you are taking the antibiotics.

Blossom - I also had to LOL at your close queuer. I can't stand people too close to me in a queue anytime, so if it happens while I am pg, they will defo hear about it. Funny enough, I can cope with people invading my personal space on the tube or bus or in a lift, but in any kind of queue it is creepy.

Puddytat - I know what you mean about sleeping well after a swim. I went to the pool this afternoon, had a lovely swim, and am looking forward to a goodnights' sleep. The last few nights DH has kept me awake with his snoring. He snores everynight, its nothing new, but if I am sleepy enough, it doesn't bother me.

Missed the chat about names earlier. I don't know if all of our 2 cents worth helps, Jersey, but I also prefer Ryan.

maewest · 05/04/2006 20:20

Evening all. Had a nice relaxing day off work today (trying to use my holidays to work a 4 day week). Went to yoga then met a friend for lunch. At end of yoga during relaxation/meditation exercise babe went crazy kicking and wriggling all over the place! Doesn't he/she know they're sposed to be sitting there chanting OM? :)

dangirl · 05/04/2006 20:30

Evening ladiesSmile

Thank you for all your well wishes!
Have been to clinic.
Cervix is a little bit shorter - again... now it is 3 cm having been 4 cm. Still a very good lenght so they certainly won't "do" anything at this stage. She seems to think that this is predictive for the next 4-6 weeks.
Going back in 4 weeks. If very short then as sign of imminent birth they have time to give me some steroids. Will be nearly 31 weks by then so in pretty "safe" territory.

Have a good night allSmile

Hi everyone,

Aggie, sorry to hear how poorly you've been, hope you are feeling a bit better now.

Dangirl, glad to hear your appointment went well today.

I saw my mw this afternoon and she measured my fundus at a week ahead of my dates. So I have been thinking all afternoon that I might be a bit further on, till I read all your posts.

Am still not 100% sure. Dont know when my last period was (I had to guess), it was my dating scan that set my due date. But me being a boffin, I checked up on the notes the sonographer had given regarding the size of baby and they do actually corrospond with me being a week further on in my pg. Will have to wait and see, baby will only come when ready anyway.

Had to go to bed this afternoon as I had a funny turn. One minute I was fine, the next I felt like I was going to faint, I was shaking and feeling really weak. I grabbed myself a choccy bar (any excuse Wink), this usually makes me feel better, but an hour later I was still bad so had to go lie down.
MW reckons it was either a sudden drop in blood sugar or a sudden surge in hormones.

Asked her about my home birth and SPD and she was extremely helpful,, and said I'd probably be much better off at home as I will have more control over my birth. Makes me so happy as last time they pressured me into having dd2 in hospital. She wants me to consider giving birth on all fours as it will take the pressure off my back and pelvis.

Had some lovely weather here over the last few days and managed to achieve some nice things in the garden. Just hoping it continues.

Hope everyone is well and enjoying their pg's.

jersey · 06/04/2006 08:11

Morning everyone, glad your appointment went well dangirl finger's crossed. As you say past 31 weeks and you are on safe ground should the little one make an appearence.

Wallace I emailed you yesterday, did you get it?

Thanks everyone re names I think the Ryan seems to be ahead of Daniel at the moment. Still time to think about it.

Maewest I think they have a bad sense of timing! Mine starts kicking just when I'm trying to get to sleep or have just got into a comfy position and have to move again Grin.

Wallace · 06/04/2006 08:26

jersey - thanks just found it in my junk email folder!

pinkdolly - that does sound like drop in blood sugar. pleased that you might get your homebirth

Straightforward · 06/04/2006 10:24

Just a quickie to say hi and :( for everyone who's been poorly - hope you're all feeling better.

Feeling pretty blue the last few days - just about everything seems to be setting me off. Doesn't help that DD is off on Easter hols and really getting under my feet, demanding that I entertain her the whole time when I'm trying just to get mundane stuff done. Anyway, I'll not moan at you lot :)

Jersey - cheque's in post now - thanks.

jersey · 06/04/2006 11:36

Thanks Straightforward.

dangirl · 06/04/2006 11:47

hello to you all. What a lovely sunny day. Here in London anaywaySmile

Kayzed - As far as I know the cervix is supposed to stay at the same length until at least 36 weeks. But we all know that one thing is "supposed to" another thing is the actual body and how it deals with different situations.

Have a lovely day allSmile

puddytat99 · 06/04/2006 13:46

Hi Everyone

Jersey - How spooky!!!!!

Pinkdolly - I always carry a choccie bar on me, well you never know when you'll need it.

Kayzed - I have to use public transport a lot and some of the drivers are right pains. When I went swimming the other day, he stopped away from the kerb. So I had to step down on the road and then up into the bus. Not easy at 5ft 4in and pg. He wouldn't lower the floor and rolled his eyes as I didn't jump straight on. With the size of my boobs jumping anywhere is NOT going to happen. I might injure myself or someone passing by Grin.

My friend popped round with her DD who is now 7 months and is growing so fast. She brought lots of lovely goodies, so DH had lots to play with when he got in from work Grin.

Bought myself a 5ft long pillow yesterday. WOW I'm in heaven Wink. I feel so much more comfortable now at night, but it's so big, it's like having 3 in the bed Wink.

Got my Uni assignment finished and off in the post, so now on to the next part of the course.

Hope you're all having a good day and those of you feeling poorly, take care of yourselves.

bumpybel · 06/04/2006 14:10

Afternoon all!

Still off sick with ear, but its giving me a lovely chance to loll about!

Kayzed, I've looked at my graph thing for the fundal (?) height and its put me at a whopping 32cm! 32CM ffs!!!!! I'm 27+2! Just hoing that she did measure me from a particularly low angle! I am really long 'trunked', with shetland pony length legs, so am hoping that's an explanation! I want a baby I can lift, not one I need a winch for! Smile I'll know in two weeks if its still the same and then will have a better idea. I was also big on the loo roll test!

Puddy... well done on getting your course work done... have you got to do any more now before baby or can you forget about it for a few weeks?

Have been reading the childbirth pain thread and its making it all seem so real and not far away!

Love to all xx

jersey · 06/04/2006 15:15

Well done puddy, how many more have you to go?

I have 2 to do and 2 classes a week until the 22nd June when I finish. Trying to get them done early just in case I end up in hospital towards the end like last time.

No way I will get them done after this one arrives Grin.

kbaby · 06/04/2006 17:59

Im trying to decide when to finish work 36 or 73 weeks

AggiePanther - Hope things get better and you can soon go to spain.

Weve got the opposite problem with DD. she rfuses to go in the buggy and would rather walk everywhere. Its not a problem until you have to stand in a queue and then she does a runner. I queued in the b@q queue 3 times on sunday because I had to run after her. Ill have to get a double buggy just to keep her contained.

I had my first mw appt yesterday but when I asked if she was going to meansure me she said not until 28 weeks Sad I wanted to know

OP posts:
kbaby · 06/04/2006 17:59

of course that should be 36 or 37 weeks Grin

OP posts:
maewest · 06/04/2006 19:32

kbaby - I've read that fundal height is pretty inaccurate anyway, mainly due to the fact that babies grow at different rates and women are different shapes and sizes. I think I got measured at 16 and 21 wks, so must vary around country, think some places don't do it at all. My mw has never weighed me either. Was thinking tho - isn't it weird that 1 wk = 1cm (approx), this must mean that babies are metric :) What did they do when it was inches?

AggiePanther · 06/04/2006 19:33

Blimey 73 weeks?! that doesn't bear thinking about!!!
Thanks for all the well wishes ladies ..I think I'm still on the mend but I still have an ache in my side ...I'm desperately willing it to go away so I can have a hol.
Sorry to hear about the ear infection bumpy ..they can be really horrid.
Good news about the scan dangirl..it all seems so much safer now than in the beginning when you first got measured doesn't it. Can't believe we're heading into the third trimester already!!
Hi to everyone else ..well done on the uni assignments..I'll have to get extensions on my essays (due last week) because of being ill and I really don't fancy studying over easter ...I want to be 'chilling' en espana. Think I might try and get extensions till the beginning of May so I can do them when I get back.

kayzed-just seen your other thread. My placenta is low lying again so have another scan at 32 weeks. The same thing happened last time but it moved and hopefully will this time. Try not to worry.

HC - there is a thread for you in chat. See \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=1375&threadid=161546\here}

puddytat99 · 07/04/2006 10:34

Hi everyone

Jersey & Bumpy - I've got 3 more assignments due before baby comes. Third one at the end of June. My course is ongoing so even though I got one done yesterday I'm already starting the next section of the course. My tutor has been great and really supportive. The plan is that when I finish work, I'm going to try and get a couple of weeks ahead to give me a gap when baby first arrives.

Don't know about everyone else but feeling really shattered this morning. Probably from all the studying this week. At least I've finished work for 2 weeks (the joy of working in a school). The past few days I've been so thirsty, so keep going to the loo every 5 mins Blush. So starting to get up a number of times in the night.

Does any else think time is going past really quick? I can't believe it's April already. Soon be July Shock. Anyone any plans for the weekend? DH is doing some decorating, so Ill be supervising Grin. Hope you all have a great day.

HumphreysCorner · 07/04/2006 10:56

Hi girls

Wallace-thanks for directing me to the chat. I must say that I only seem to visit the conception and PG threads-that will teach me to not be v. adventurous. ((xx))

Sorry to hear some of you are under the weather-hope that you will perk up soon. Does help having nicer weather.

Had a stress day yesterday. Went for my 28 week blood tests at 9-20. At 9.45 I was still waiting. Then my friend arrived with her 2 children and we got talking. At 10.00 I went to the desk and was told I had been ticked off and it wouldn't be long. I watched as people who had only waited 10 mins got called in so at 10.30 I went to the desk again and said I had to go. They realised then that they had forgotten me and asked me to wait 2 mins. At 10.45 I finally went in and didn't really get an apology. Angry I feel dizzy in a morning and it wasn't helped by sitting waiting 1.5 hours in a Drs surgery! Also, DD at nursery so I could have been doing things at home.

In the afternoon I went to the same friends house and her DD was in a mood and wouldn't play with DD at all so we left and on the way home a boy ran out from behind a school bus and luckily I had just pulled out of a junction so only doing about 10 mph or I wouldn't have been able to stop. He just look at me and carried on running. It really shook me up.

Going to try and chill today. Still 9.5 sheets of loo roll so not quite the big 10 yet-perhaps next week.

Finishing work on May 30th so not too long. Seems strange that I will probably have had my baby when some of you are just leaving work. My manager keeps say when you come back off maternity leave we will do this and that etc. Daren't mention that I only want to do 1 day a week.

Must get on as DH has offered to go shopping for me at lunch time so got to E-Mail him a shopping list.

Love and hugs to all and I'll check on you all later.

((xx))
