Thought I would start the thread.

HC Sorry that our MIL is like that. I guess theres not much you can do apart from telling DH to stick up fo you. My Mil is ok but has her odd ways. She was against me bfing and was determined with DD that she would be dressed in pink frilly dresses. Soon put a stop to all that and I just used to ignore her comments.

The kicks argetting a lot stronger now. They are still fairly low down and sometimes in my bladder.

Im glad im not the only one breaking wind like a trooper. Im almost afraid to bend over in work Blush

Im hoping to go back to work 3 1/2 possibly 4 days a week. Im going to put DD in nursery 2/3 mornings but mil will have both the rest of the time. Id love to do less but when I work out how much id lose its shocking and weve just extended our morgage for the extension. The other option ive got is to work in the call centre and do shifts but I dont fancy the weekend shifts. Im too frightened to tell my mnagaer yet.

Morning everyone,

Hope you are all having a nice sunny day, even if it's just through the window. Hope everyone is feeling good today.

Puddytat, I agree with you, the time is flying. With DS I seemed to be pregnant for about four years, (or 73 weeks even, kbaby!! LOL) but this time it's nearly there already. Where does the time go. I suppose the last few weeks will drag though...

Anyone else been having the odd sip of wine or beer? I didn't touch a drop with DS, but this time, any time DH has a glass of something, I'll have a swig. Is that naughty of me? I've not had a full glass (not yet) though I've been tempted. I did have a glass of champagne on my birthday though it took me about an hour to drink it... Feel guilty though...

Hope your ear's better Bumpy, and Aggie, hope you're feeling better too.

Smile Annie (26+1)

Wallace · 07/04/2006 11:08

Not sunny here - snowing again Shock

I have had a couple of small glasses of wine (not all at once!) I don't think a very occasional small glass can do any harm.

agalch · 07/04/2006 11:08

Hi all

Mw has measured me at every appt. It's amazing how where you live dictates the care you recieve and what you are offered eg sexing scan, homebirth choices etc.

I am stuck in today,dp car on the blink so although he was meant to be on a day off work have really kindly arranged to book him on a course for today so i'm a bit fed up.

It's also my birthday on Monday and when i took my dp out for a surprise meal for Valentines,i asked him to return the favour and arrange my mum to babysit which he hasn't done and my mum is visiting family Saturday night so i am doing nothing for my birthday.he will be fixing car at weekend too so just the same old forme.

I sound like a witch don't i?Blush Just think i seceretly booked a weekend away for his 40th and he cant even be bothered to take me for a meal.

Oh well i'm off before i cry all over the keyboard!!

lilianna · 07/04/2006 11:10

hi. i drank in my last pg, not everyweek but a few glasses of wine here and there. Just make sure it a low percentage and enjoy it. He was my healthiest baby.
stouts are meant to help with your milk flow-so you produce more.
Hoping to move house in 10 weeks and going on holiday in 8weeks cant wait.
ds1 has his place in nursery to start in sept and dd has her place in playgroup starting in sept and ds2 is now crawling and has 7teeth so things are looking up.- can't wait for summer.

agalch · 07/04/2006 11:14

Meant to say when we were our for Valentines it was the 1st time we had been out alone since October 2003! I know we won't get out for a while(few yrs)after new baby so thought he'd make an effort.Bet you all think i am a cow nowSadfor moaning.

lilianna · 07/04/2006 11:15

hi have a gd birthday on monday. mine was tuesday.
dp gave me cash to spend on myself but instead it all went on council tax, rent and other bills. ]
not to worry. we were going to go out for the day but i had a false alarm labour that morning starting at 3am finished at 6am -a bath helped.
hoping baby won't come yet 37weeks would be nice.

jersey · 07/04/2006 11:29

Don't worry agalch I keep hinting that a night out on our own would be nice before this one arrives as in 3 yrs we have been out together alone once. So far nothing seems to have happened.

I don't think they think sometimes that you might want an adult evening Grin.

pinkdolly · 07/04/2006 12:12

hi ladies,

I am soo shattered today, started day before yesterday when I had that funny spell and then had to go to bed in the afternoon. Was clock watching at 6pm last nite coz I wanted to go to bed. (isn't that sad!) Didn't have a good nite and feel even worse today.

Went to see my rheummy yesterday, they weighed me and I have put on a whooping 21 pounds since becoming pg. On a good note though they are arranging some hydrotherapy for me asap to help with my pains. And have said that I can take my naproxen if I need too. They dont want to see me now untill September, to give my body a chance to calm down after having LO and see how I am. Which is good considering I was an hr late going in for my appointment. Angry I am not a very patient person at the best of times but sitting on a chair for that long really hurts.

Just this second took a phonecall from the hydrothreapy unit and they want me in on monday morning!

Agalch- Sorry to hear your not having a good day, cheer up and go spend some of your hubby's money on retail therapy. It works for me when I'm feeling low.

DH is home for 2 weeks now (easter leave) and the girls are begging him to take them out so I will catch you all later, have a good day.

maewest · 07/04/2006 13:26

Take care of yourself pinkdolly, sounds like you're having a rough time. And it's really irritating to be kept waiting for appointments.

Drinking - I've had the odd small glass of beer or wine, usually with food. I refuse to get het up over this, although I know some people have very strong views. I'm a nonsmoker, have a mainly health diet and exercise regularly, so feel like I'm doing all I can.

Did the loo roll test last night and I'm 9.5 sheets (can't remember what I was before). And I'm exactly 24 wks today, hurray! :)

Hi again everyone

HC - hope you have a better weekend, take care of yourself hun.

Lilianna - hope everything has gone a lot quieter now for you, take it easy.

As for the drinking, I had some champagne when we got married at the end of October (was about 2-3 weeks then) but not had anything since. But also went on 4 flights in the space of 10 days (to and from Edinburgh for our wedding and to and from New York for our honeymoon), which you shouldn't really do but everything seems fine so far.

As for the going out for 'adult time'. I can't really moan as we had our honeymoon in Novemeber. DS went to stay at my Mum's. And we went to watch Ben Elton in Feb while DS was again staying at Mum's (half term). Can't see getting out again before 'Blob' makes their debut.

I can't believe everyone is getting measured but me. I've not been measured once yet. And only had my belly poked at 2/3 times now. Talk about NHS cutbacks. Just goes to show it's all about where you live. Will any of you be getting any more scans? I know some areas do them around 32/34 weeks.

Bit worried as I seem smaller than you lot when doing loo roll test, only just 8.5 sheets and due at beginning of July. Not tall so don't know where 'Blob' could be hiding. Likes to sit really low in bump and kick me to pieces. DS liked to hide under my ribs and kick me there. How is it with everyone else?

Better be going DS will be home any minute and he's got tennis practise tonight.

jersey · 07/04/2006 15:41

Hi puddy I've not been measured yet. And only been prodded in the stomach by mw once. Must be an area thing.

I have another scan at 32 weeks but only because I attend the hypertension clinc and they want to make sure this one is growing properly as DS stopped early due to PE last time. Normally I wouldn't get any more now.

In Bristol you only get one scan as standard - 20 weeks. But mw has listened to heartbeat at last 2 appts which I still find exciting (:) firstimers eh!)

lilianna · 07/04/2006 19:38

yep contractions going to the toilet. Just glad it wasnt the real thing. Anyone else getting strong BH contractions?

Straightforward · 07/04/2006 19:42

Hi girls

Been drinking the odd glass of wine (or two) here and there - that's one thing I just don't get stressed about (besides, the Royal College of Midwives say you can have one or two units once or twice a week) - certainly don't waste valuable guilt over that one!

And those of you who haven't been out in 3 years - Shock!! Get a babysitter in NOW!! Still, it's made me think twice about moaning we don't go out much (we go out about once a month or so). Most of my friends with kids are out at least twice a month, if not every week or more. Going on 'dates' with your dp/dh will make such a difference - do it do it do it!!

Oh, and by the way - I've only had 2 mw appts so far, and have been neither weighed, measured nor prodded - next one is on 3rd May when I will be 29 weeks.

Have a good weekend y'all!

Straightforward · 07/04/2006 19:44

Oh and kayzed - unless you've doubled in size since you posted that pic, you're not huge at all!!

agalch · 07/04/2006 19:58

Hi straightforward

if i could find a babysitter i would be out every week too!!GrinDp's parents are useless and dottery and not interested and mine prefer my brothers kids so it's a begging palavar and really hate having to ask herSad

bumpybel · 07/04/2006 20:08

Evening girls...

Earache is finally starting to get better, which means the antibiotics must finally be kicking in. Couldnt go to aqua natal today because of it, but went and met everyone after and two of the women brought their new borns with them. They were soooo tiny and lush. Makes me feel like I cant wait (even though I am in line for a heiffer)

My parents have just popped over and mum brought some photos with her... I was horrified to see that in one taken last week, I now have a double chin and my thighs are absolutely enormous. They were always chunky, but I look like a whale! Cant wait to be able to start running and dieting again. Kayzed you look slim in your pics. I always used to be a comfy size 14, but really think my thighs have gone up to a good chunky 16 now Sad!

On a really chuffed note, found out today that the exam I took a few weeks ago, I passed! Really chuffed as nationally only 39%passed. However it also means that I'm automatically in for the next stage exam in November!!! eeek... unless of course I am sick with something baby related!

Did loo roll test this am and I was back to nine sheets... seem to go up and down quite a bit... but then I have got a bloody long fundus measurement!!!!

Algach... why not arrange to go out with some pals if DH doesnt arrange anything... you cant go without doing anything. Go on ring around!

On the wine front I manage a nice probably 2 units size galss of wine every sunday, while chopping veg for lunch and i love it!It's become a real highlight for me! Cant wait to be able to have a bottle in the summer with a bbq!!! (after i've attempted to express of course!). I spend half of sun just sniffing the wine first. Its made me appreciate it loads more.

Hope you all have yummy weekends. DH is working,so i can sleep late, watch what i want on telly and go shopping! Yay! Grin

HumphreysCorner · 07/04/2006 20:14

I have not been measured yet but have a MW appointment next Thursday so perhaps will then. Have just had a nice bottle of beer at mum and dad's. Filled me up with wind though!

bumpybel-glad your ears are alot better. Your thighs cannot be bigger than mine. If I remember I will measure them with a tape measure like I do when I start dieting.

Love and hugs to all

Night night

((x))

kayzed - I find now that I cant cross my legs and the bump rests on them or lean forward as boobs rest on the bump making it feel uncomfortable.

My kicks still seem very low down. Almost in the join between my thigh and belly. Antone elses the same. I thought they wouldve been higher up by now.
Annie29 - im off to a wedding this weekend and een though I havennt drunk anything since finding out a glass of wine sounds so appealing I may cave in.
Im going to make you all jelous now and tell you that my parents have DD overnight every saturday. Its lush even if we dont go out, its nice not to have to bath anyone or get up in the night.
have a goodweekend
kbaby 24 weks today Smile

Ooooh kbaby - you're right - I'm dead Envy of that! Go girl - at least you're enjoying it (some people I know actually moan about their parents wanting to babysit all the time!!!)

Agalch - is there noone else to babysit? All DD's grandparents are 100s of miles away, and fairly unwilling or unable anyway, so we don't use them. Also, it's hard if you feel you have to beg, or it's a favour. I don't know where you live, but a lot of places have mums' network type things where you exchange/earn tokens for babysitting - that saved my life until we found a local responsible teenager who loves kids and is keen to earn cash (so I don't have to babysit other people's kids Grin!) Might be worth looking around - it'll do wonders for your sanity if not your relationship!

Chat2Ali · 08/04/2006 17:59

Sadly my parents and PIL live too far away to babysit, but it sounds like a perfect set up you have, kbaby.

Even though I am a first timer, I don't think I am going to have too much problem leaving my LO with (responsible) babysitters on occasion. I have a friend with an 18 mo, who has never had a babysitter, and I don't think she even leaves her DS with his grandparents, and she seems very miserable with her situation Sad.

Out of interest, what is a reasonable amount to expect to pay a babysitter? I am sure I won't be able to afford it very often, but perhaps I could start saving...
