Thought I would start the thread.

HC Sorry that our MIL is like that. I guess theres not much you can do apart from telling DH to stick up fo you. My Mil is ok but has her odd ways. She was against me bfing and was determined with DD that she would be dressed in pink frilly dresses. Soon put a stop to all that and I just used to ignore her comments.

The kicks argetting a lot stronger now. They are still fairly low down and sometimes in my bladder.

Im glad im not the only one breaking wind like a trooper. Im almost afraid to bend over in work Blush

Im hoping to go back to work 3 1/2 possibly 4 days a week. Im going to put DD in nursery 2/3 mornings but mil will have both the rest of the time. Id love to do less but when I work out how much id lose its shocking and weve just extended our morgage for the extension. The other option ive got is to work in the call centre and do shifts but I dont fancy the weekend shifts. Im too frightened to tell my mnagaer yet.

Morning girls!

DD's 1 and 2 are Zoe and Sophie. Our surname is Stephens ( not sure if your supposed to give that out but too late now).
After sleeping on it I think I leaning towards Hope, but would still value your opinions.

Hope you all have a good day. :o

Morning oh preggers chums.

Pink I really like Hope, I think it's unusual and strong sounding.

What is it with living in building sites at the moment? DH has commenced Operation Living Room, as he has two weeks between contracts, and while I am very excited about having the house finally complete, it is chaos downstairs. Lucky I'm NOT working hard and taking lots of important phone calls as they'd all be able to hear him singing at the TOP of his voice to the radio and swearing when he bangs his thumb!

GORGEOUS day today again, I too am feeling GRRRRREAT! Dropped DS at nursery and did a Tescos run this morning, it's amazing how much you can get done when your days start at 6.30am! had a good swim and a lovely pedicure yesterday, ladies, go and get a pedicure, it is such a lovely thing to have done when you are pregnant, and so relaxing and not expensive - once a month treat yourself, that's a Blossom order. Bought my mum a voucher for one for Mother's Day while I was there.

Is anyone else going to ante-natal classes that already has children? I said no to midwife at booking in, but am now changing my mind, I was with a fired yesterday afternoon who had her second 6 months ago, and she was talking about weaning and all the stuff you are supposed to start with them at certain times and I realised I really have forgotten everything even though DS is only 18 months! I would never get DH there in a gazzilion years but might go to a couple myself....maybe the birth one and the breastfeedng one. can't hurt, what do you think?

KBaby your list is the exact duplicate of mine, except I already have the cradle for side of bed, and I need to buy a moses basket. Borrowed one last time but want my own for this one. I am going for a Mothercare double buggy circa £120, that has been road tested by a friend. need to get in the loft too, looking forward to that bit and going through all the dear little baby clothes.

Can I have an opinion on either Toby or Samuel please?

have a great day everybody, sorry for the TOTAL ramble Grin

Blossom

Morning ladies

entropy-where are you? Is everything OK hun? ((xx))

Just dropped DD at nursery and they are having a parents evening. Is it really necessary for a 2 1/2 year old? It is on a Monday so will be a struggle for me to get there and I don't think DH will be able to make it at all. What do you all think. I thought these evenings were for school age.

Seem to wake up every morning with a headache and still feel a bit dizzy. Cramp is still a pain at night.

I was looking at bottles yesterday even though I might attempt BF this time (but only for the 1st few days). Still want to use bottles for the main time including night time as 20 mins sounds better than hours. £5.20 for 2 Avent bottles in Boots and £5.67 for the same in Tescos. Will keep looking.

We are going to Brands Hatch this weekend so DD is going to the in-laws-am dreading it. Just dropping her off there ruins my day and then when we collect her Sunday night they will say something that will annoy me. Grrrrrrhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!

Hope you all have a nice day. Off to make a spag bol so catch you all later.

Hi All,
Not been around for a while as I've been mad busy with work deadlines as well as having assignments to get in for uni. I haven't managed to catch up with all the posts. So I hope you are all doing well - welcome to all the newbies too - how many are we now?
It's a beautiful beautiful day here, sun shining, birds singing - sigh!

Hi All

Iamblossom I like Toby and as for girls names well Jasmine is a hot favorite for my little one.

MIL well mine is returning from 4 months in NZ next week, they sold their house before they left as they have both retired, not sure at this point but I think they might move in!!!

Building work has not commenced yet but is planned, not looking forward to it. I want it done before I finsh work, but DH is in charge which means the baby will have left home before it starts!!!

Anyway on holiday next week so if I dont write again, I will catch up with you all in a week or so.

Take care, look after yourselves and have some fun!!

Hi everyone

Blossom - my DS is called Samuel, which is shortened to Sam. So I'm a lot biased and would have to say Samuel.

Pink - Hope sounds lovely. We were learning towards Jessica if this is a girl. I think both are beautiful.

Kbaby - how much longer have you got the builders in for and have they much to do?

Has anyone heard from entropy after her scan? Hope everything is okay with her.

Can't believe what a lovely day it is here. Even got some washing drying on the line!!!! :) Have decided about work, I'm going to continue part time but take the other job with the pay rise. It's only a few more hours a week but they are more sociable. At the moment I have to be in for 7am, so if I continued this, DH would have to run around getting DS on his bus to secondary school at 7.15 then baby off to childminder for 8, so he can get to work for 8.30. This way I can spend time with everyone in morning, get baby to childminder for 8.00, work for 8.30 and finish at 12.00. The head teacher also said we can review situation after a few months and if I'd like more hours, etc he can work around me and baby.

Have felt really good for past 2 days, lots of energy and 'blooming'. Went to Aquanatal yesterday which was wonderful. The pool was lovely and warm, didn't want to get out. Even got hooted at this morning, so must look good in a weird way!!!! Maybe it's the ample cleveage. Some men find pg women sexy :0

Ooooh - it's nice to have everyone feeling lovely! I felt lovely this morning (had my Chinese Dr appt and it always makes me feel wonderful and floaty), but am a bit zonked now and have parked DD in front of a vid even though it's lovely and sunny out Blush

Names - can't decide between Toby and Samuel, both are great. Girls' names - really like Hope.

Nicoloola - my boobs are unbearably itchy too (well, they're unbearable in many ways, but we've already had a very embarrassing discussion about how that's made up for - see last thread!!)

Not living in a building site, but DH keeps turning house upside down anyway to decorate or rearrange different rooms. I get really funny about this (Chinese Dr thinks it's because pregnancy can make you very sensitive to the Feng Shui stuff of clutter taking up energy etc) and have to vacate the house or find a clear corner somewhere, so God knows what I'd be like if it were on a bigger scale like yours sounds.

Well girls, your MIL stories sound pretty horrendous. DH is adopted, his 'mum' died before I met him and his birth mum, with whom he has scant contact, lives in Spain, so I'm MIL-free, really. I do have a truly insane stepmother though, who can and does make life somewhat difficult from time to time! Thinking of you all going through it though.

Sure I was going to write other stuff, but preghead has taken over and I have the memory of a sieve!

Afternoon ladies

Weather here is lovely, cold but really sunny, and getting me in the mood for my holiday!!

Saw mw this morning(am 22+4 i think)and having a textbook pg again so far.Am being tested at 28 weeks for gestational diabeties as dd was big in comparison to both boys.

Discussed the possibility of having a homebirth,i origionally thought i'd had a 3rd degree tear but it turns out it was only a 2nd degree and not too bad a tear either. She reckons there are no reasons to not think about it and she will come out in May to see dp and i to chat about it (and reassure him)and see how we feel after that.Don't know if the diabeties thing is a problem if i do have it if i decided to have a homebirth.

I feel great atm, sleeping well(so is dd)and feel energetic and i am deffo glowing now.

I really feel for all you girls who are not feeling good, hope you all feel better soon.

Ah! That was it! Knew I had something else to say IamB! Our hospital is doing one-day antenatal days, running from 9-5 or similar on a weekend and having sessions on all the usual stuff, which you can opt in or out of (e.g go to bfing one but not to 'how to tell you're in labour' one etc) Think I'll go for that.

And mentioning bfing reminds me of something else I was going to ask - HC, I don't want to sound like one of the bfing mafia, but I was wondering about you saying you'd maybe try it this time but only for the first few days. Did you not do it before? I only ask as I had DD in Brighton, where it's practically against the law to bottle feed, which meant that there was quite a lot of pressure, but tons and tons of unconditional support. My experience was that the first week or so was a nightmare, but that afterwards it was really rewarding and made life so much easier than those people I met who had to arse around with bottles, sterilising etc. In the end, I was sooooo glad I'd persevered. I know this is a bit of a 'hot potato' topic in MN terms (not to mention in RL!), but do CAT me if you want to discuss it. Not trying to convert you necessarily, just to reassure, if that's maybe what's needed.

Hi everyone

THe scan was fine! feel really silly now for getting so worked up.... Thanks to everyone for your messages of support, it really helped. They couldn't tell about the eye problems but realisticly I knew that. they showed DH the lenses of the eyes but thay would be OK whatever... the sonographer says we are having a girl! she checked 3 times for me as I was so convinced it was a boy in there (have been calling him Gordon for the last 5 months! - although that wasn't going to be the actualt name, just like saying "Gordon's alive" whenever i feel a kick Grin )

Pinkdolly - I can't believe you have Jasmine on your shortlist! that was my choice for a girl (I thought it was really unusual!) but DH dosn't like it, but he doesn't like anything I suggest and can't suggest anything himself so I might go with it anyway :) other names on the list are Caitlin, olivia and sophia...

Glad there are lots of people saying that they feel great! am a bit jealous as I still feel (and look) rubbish, maybe if I curb my craving for jam donuts I will bloom soon...

Oh i loved bf DD a few toe curling moments but on the whole not too bad. So much easier to feed a baby when all you have to do is whip a boob out. She was also quick guzzler and would be finished in 10 mins whereas ive seen my friends bottlefeeding theirs for 1 hour!!!

Im going to give this one a go but I realise that it may not be as blissful with a toddler running about.

Now this is the bit where I try to remember what everyone has been saying/asking!

antenatal classes - yes I will be going (this is my third baby, but 5 years since dd) In our area it is only something like 4 classes in May. They do physio and stuff to, and it is nice to meet other mums-to-be.

names - I like both Toby and Samuel. have been thinking about bth of them myself! If ours is a girl it is def Daisy May.

blooming? - no...just feel bloated

Hi all,
I may have bloomed very briefly but am now more of a wilting variety!

Am stuffed full of cold and my pelvis slipped out of alignment again on Tuesday so I had to see the chirporactor. My lower back is bloody sore on an almost permanent basis. Am wondering how the next 16 weeks will work out....

This afternoon DD(3) threw the mother of all tantrums in the horrid post office that's not our local one (ours is shut for refurb). I was posting 20 ebay parcels so it wasn't the quickest visit. Total nightmare and I'm ashamed to say I finally snapped and smacked her bottom on the way out.
Bad mummy.
Oh, and my bump is as itchy as a big fat itchy thing.
Glad all going ok as far as I have speed read with everyone.
Agalch - you're in Scotland, too? Wasn't it glorious here today?
Entropy, glad the scan went well.
Re the breastfeeding - I managed 6 weeks as my milk supply wasn't very good and the poor wee soul was starving but that may have been connected to my placenta being retained so hopefully, that won't happen again!
Off to watch lots of crap telly and look at my next stash of stuff to sell on ebay!
Have a good night.

Evening girlies...

Ooh soo much to catch up on! Welcome Catherineskelly and nicoloola Smile.

Blossom you lady of leisure!!! I am soo jealous that you have had a nice day of pampering... I WANT ONE! Had my hair cut today and it made me feel like booking in somewhere for a facial and scalp massage!

Entropy - laughed at you calling your bump Gordon! Glad the scan went well. I havent really been calling my bump anything other than 'bump'.. I have been singing to it though and talking it through my car journeys!

Re the ante natal... I've simply GOT to find a class to go to. I've never changed a nappy in my life, have not got a clue what labour is going to be like and dont know what you feed babies.. apart from milk! ... And how do you hold them, and make them sleep? And know what the crying means?!!! This is going to be an enormous learning curve! My midwife has told me to ask at my 28 week visit and that she'll give me the details then! Dont know if i can wait that long!

Glad you girls are all feeling so cheerful... I reckon its got something to do with spring! I'm feeling quite glowing, but also quite stiff and fat! The cramp advice was also fab thankyou... have resorted to glugging a pint of water before bed and chomping a banana. Have had cramp a couple of times since, but not on the same agonising level! HC how is your cramp doing?

Spub... hope your pelvis is settling down ok. That sounds painful.

Right.. off to down my water!

Love to all xxx

Morning Girls,

Spub - {{{{hug}}}} Poor you that sounds really painful, I hope you are feeling better today, try and rest up if you can.

Entropy - So glad everything went well for you at your scan, and another little girl on the list!

Re BFing - I too think it was so much easier then bottle feeding. Who wants to go downstairs and sort a bottle out at 2 am when you can just grab the baby and get your boob out in your bed. So much nicer.
I BF'd DD1 for 3 months then she drank me dry (she was a very hungry baby).
With DD2 I only managed 1 month, coz I got bad thrush on my boob, ended up bleeding and in so much pain (sorry tmi).

I'm gonna try again this time, however, I do disagree with people who say it's the most natural thing in the world. I am the only one in my family who has managed to BF. My mum and my sisters had so much trouble and it really stressed them and baby out. So I dont think it should be pushed onto people.

My news - DD2 asked for the potty yesterday so I got it out at 4pm, by 8pm she had done 4 wee wee's in it. She is so proud of herself, she came down first thing this morning and took her nappy off.

I'm sure it's helping that DD1 is insisting on using the potty for her wee wee. I think it's a game to see who can wee the most in it.

Wallace - I love those names, I really like Daisy for a girl but DH has a cousin called that so he didn't want it.

Agalch - I do hope you get your homebirth, i'm trying for one too. I just dont think i'm gonna have time to get to the hospital. I have visions of having this one on the kitchen floor. i told that too my friend who will be coming over to help and she has had a dream that she will deliver the baby on the kitchen floor. Lovely!

Anyway, sorry about the massive post, have a good day everyone.

Hiya everyone

Spub weather was fab in Scotland for a change, back to normal today tho!!Sad

Pinkdolly i'm not sure whether gestational diabeties would preclude me from a homebirth but hopefully not, this is deffo my last baby so keeping my fingers crossed.Have you spoken to your mw about it and what did they say?

Re the breast feeding,i bottle fed my 1st and i would never ever og back to the steralising and making up formula.it was so much harder than whipping the boob out and i have to say that it takes very little time for a feed.Much less than the mindees i have to feed lol.I fed my 2nd ds till he was 2.5 and i'm still feeding dd aged 20 months which is not easy but hey ho.

Bumpybel i am not doing the loo roll thing again.I was 9 rolls the last time and some of you on here were due before me and measuring smaller than me.Blush

Hope you all have a good day.I am off today as my mindees mum starts a new job and is wanting to spend the day with her lo before leaving her for full days come Monday,so off to meet friends for coffee and shop for mothers day.

Morning!
Glad your scan went well entropy :)
Just did the loo roll thing and I'm a teeny bit over 8 squares!! Missed the results last time so dunno if thats big or not - my neighbour asked me when I was due the other day and when I said July she said Omg but you're huuuge! Stop eating! Blush AngryShock

Re B/F definitely found it easy with DD - and much easier once I was settled into it - like you say, whipping out a boob at 2 am is much easier than getting out of bed to do bottles. DD was in a bedside cot (3sides) so sometimes I would just grab her, stick her on and fall back to sleep - I could even do it lying down.
