I would imagine I'll be the first to post here for a little while - I just found out today.

Look forward to hearing for you soon Smile

Congrats on the good scan results! Ours is coming up on Monday. We couldn't see very well on the one with the amnio, so hoping baby is in a different position for this next one.

DebbsyandBibby · 12/07/2006 09:20

best of luck for your scan next week jabber

Carameli · 12/07/2006 09:35

hi all, hope you are all well. We have just spent a fabulous week and a bit up in Northumberland. I am so jealous if any of you live up there, its so lovely.
Had a fantastic relaxing time going to beaches, National park areas etc etc.

Has anyone got a doppler here? I was thinking of getting one or buying one from ebay as there are loads on there. Last time I got an angel sounds one which was fine for later on but sometimes hard to work out earlier on in the pregnancy. So I have been looking at the more expensive ones.
Are they worth it?

jabberwocky · 12/07/2006 15:17

I was going to ask the same thing. A friend just had a baby and is going to loan me hers. The only thing she said about it was that it took really good batteries to keep it going.

Devongirl · 12/07/2006 15:45

Think I agree with my midwife on that - I mentioned getting one to her and she said it tends to make most women neurotic, and as I am a bit neurotic at the best of times I decided against it.

beepbeep · 12/07/2006 21:28

Also staying away from them, luckily I'm getting quite a lot of strong movements, but think a doppler would make me paranoid!

Devongirl · 13/07/2006 09:44

Beep Beep - when did you start feeling movements? You are due 2 weeks before me, and I think I have felt a tiny flutter but only once when I was singing along to some music that was on loud. I guess I should be feeling a bit more in the next week or two I suppose?

Carameli · 13/07/2006 14:41

you guys are probably right, it would make me panick even more. Think I will stick with the one I have for later on, itwas fun when I was a lot bigger and feeling really strong movements. I suppose I am just impatient for it to really get moving. I think I am the same dd as you Devongirl. Have also had the odd feeling I think might be something but find it hard to say for sure. With dd sometimes a limb would move across my tummy or later on you could really feel something hard. Was so so wierd the first time.

hello all.

Loulou, i'll be able to tell you about junk food in pg after Dec! I've being terrible this pg. Too many crisps! I was a food Angel in first pg, but i didn't have nausea that time and as i'm slightly more relaxed(or should that read distracted?) this time, I keep thinking what harm can it really do. I'm quite healthy in general, lots of water and fruit etc but also lots of organic choc(still on my good foods list) also the occasional pizza and the crisps and fish and chips twice! there confession over!

Need to share my shopping success.Went to DPs yesterday. Have a Trendy Friend's 30th birthday party next weekend. Found a great black strapless top(OK far enough it's prob more practical for us tangerine boobed ones) in their maternity range and some decent jeans! Won't feel like a Marshmallow. Just need to dust off my heels and find decent neck decoration! They've also got these bump covers. I'm guessing to be popped under tops that are riding up! I'm back in love with DPs. Trendy Friend is a totally gorgeous size 8 who always looks Perfect. So, Ok I'll still look like an elephant but I won't be wearing a floral tent!(I've got quite a few "What was I thinking" tops in my Mat wear collection. Did anyone else find things they bought last time that you must have been mad to wear? I think I thought it says Maternity and it fits! Will not buy clothes that are horrid this time. Promise!

Carameli · 13/07/2006 17:50

I am completely with you on clothes bought 1st time around. have also found some truly horrid tops and skirts that I wonder where my brain went to then. I have found I am a lot fussier this time. My bump is quite compact and have I have not put on much weight at all, was a real worry for ages but gp assures me I am fine, so have managed with summery dresses just a size up but at least they are normal ones and not tents!! Then at least when the cold weather arrives we can wrap our bumps up with snuggly things.

lennied · 13/07/2006 19:38

Just dropping by to say hello. Not much happening here. Starting to feel a few more movements, but nothing too convincing. Bit more energy, but will be glad for the summer holidays.

Love to all

jabberwocky · 13/07/2006 22:36

Have been feeling little one for about 2 weeks, now. Much stronger these last few days. He gets much more active when ds is loud. Don't know if he likes it or not but it definitely sets him off.

spinamum · 13/07/2006 23:30

i've got a very active bean here sometimes too. today i had a mad dash to nursery to collect ds with hole in head and get it glued. no 2 spent the 2 and a half hours in waiting room reminding me I have two potential accident prone kids on my "books". it's nice to feel "her" kicking about at last.
How did the little dinky bundle from 2003 manage to split his head open chasing girls. I'm going to have to savour this Beanie's littleness.

dublindee · 14/07/2006 08:19

Hi all.
Still a bit pukey here on occasion but not half as bad as I was, so I think things are (hopefully) starting to settle down a bit!
Back ache is a problem for me in work at the mo. I have really good posture and sit up straight but the computer chairs we have don't support your back if you do this (useless!)
When you alter the setting for the back it automatically puts a tilt on the seat so you start to slide off. Lots of fun.
Apparently the one kind of chair that doesn't do this - they won't let me try for "health and safety" reasons as it's not suitable for use during pregnancy.
WTF? I'm only gonna be sitting on it not doing the tango!
I personally reckon it's cos they're expensive - or am I being too cynical?!

Devongirl · 14/07/2006 09:11

I am getting worried now that you can all feel your babies constantly - is there anyone else not feeling much yet? I know it's meant to be more obvious if you've already had a child (which I haven't) but I can't help getting neurotic

x

dublindee · 14/07/2006 09:18

Devongirl I was about 21weeks when I really started to notice with DS so don't panic!!!

Devongirl · 14/07/2006 09:40

Thanks Dublindee - I know I am being daft and impatient!

x

Carameli · 14/07/2006 09:53

Devongirl, don't panic about it. This is my 2nd baby and I still have not felt much at all, just the odd flutter which I think could also be my tummy.
My scan is not until 7th Aug so I went to my gp yesterday and asked to hear the heartbeat which was fine so just going to forget about movements for a few weeks.
the gp also said not to worry and it might just be hiding around the back for now.
just letting you know you are not alone.

dublindee · 14/07/2006 10:50

Have only had the odd movement myself as well - but def know it's bump this time (waht a difference 2nd time round makes!!)
When you start getting the movements regularly it's so much fun.
I remember I'd be lying in ebd with DP at night and he'd be getting pounded in the ribs or back bh DS!!!

Devongirl · 14/07/2006 11:00

Thanks ladies! I will try to hold off panicing and ringing the midwife to book an appt to hear the heartbeat, I am sure everything is fine
xx

beepbeep · 14/07/2006 15:03

Devon girl, I've felt things for a few weeks, but I have been told that with it being my first that it not the norm til a bit later. I've been convinced from the start they have my dates wrong and this just added to my theory - scan next thurs so we'll see!! Take care & don't stress x

jabberwocky · 14/07/2006 15:07

Devongirl, I didn't feel ds until at least 20 weeks. And then only very sporadically. This one is active mainly in the evening - or when ds is throwing a tantrum!

Devongirl · 14/07/2006 16:40

Maybe I should borrow a small child to have a tantrum nearby, it might wake mine up a bit!

Thanks everyone
x

jabberwocky · 14/07/2006 19:20

Take heart, some babies just aren't as active as others. Ds was so quiet my whole pg i would sometimes jiggle my belly from side to side to try and wake him up to check on him I guess there are pros and cons to everything. I never got my ribs kicked with ds, but that may change with this one...
