I would imagine I'll be the first to post here for a little while - I just found out today.

Look forward to hearing for you soon Smile

devongirl, you can borrow my small child any time!

lennied · 15/07/2006 18:34

devongirl,

also on my first pg and haven't really felt too much. When I'm sat quietly driving or at work I can feel what I think is baby - kind of a gurgling tummy type sensation, but it is only faint and more nauseating than reassuring!! I don't think from what my midwife has said, that it is 'normal' to feel anything in a 1st pg until at least 20 weeks. It is only when you know what you are looking for that 2nd timers feel more - she said. I think 2nd timers tend to get a bigger uterus quicker as well, so baby is closer to the stomach wall etc than 1st timers, which makes it easier for them to feel movements.

Have been trying to shop for my holiday again today. Am definately starting to disregard my usual taste in clothes and plump for - it fits, buy it. Am going to have some major regrets I think.

This is my third and I'm 17 weeks and I still haven't really felt anything. A couple of stirings but not the specific movements that I remember with ds and dd. I had a mw appointment on Tuesday and she heard the heartbeat for the first time (which was great ). She also said that although many pg women had felt movement by this time it isn't an issue if I haven't felt anything yet.

anyone else think this thread getting a bit large? I thought maybe I would start a new thread & post an updated due date list there as a few more people have joined (if your due date has updated, pls let me know). Anyone object? It's what most of the other antenatal threads do, I think.
then will have to catch up with everyone's news. 2nd time around still not feeling hercule/herculina (pls note JOKE names) v.much & I'm 18 wks.

spinamum · 15/07/2006 20:22

i agree. this thread id getting quite large!

Sorry if my last post caused concern about movements. I HAD whinged that I couldn/t feel anything, then hey presto! But I don't recommend you find your "borrowed" older child and split their foreheads opened! That seemed to wake my Bean up!

With DS i didn't feel moevments for ages and I think this one is just more active generally. If it's any comfort, my DS is an adorable chilled out kid. I may have a real handfull if this one is more active than DS.(particularly taking into account the chilled kid with split head combo!)

magnolia1 · 15/07/2006 20:27

17 weeks too and only a few very tiny almost not there movements. dd4 moved at 11 weeks and by 13-14 weeks was constantly moving so this time i was worried but glad its not just me. Maybe it means after 4 girls I am getting a boy lol

cupcakes · 15/07/2006 20:39

How are the puppies?

lucy5 · 15/07/2006 20:41

Hello all, i'm nearly 20 weeks and no movements, maybe a flutter but I can't decide. I can't remember when dd moved.

accessorizequeen · 15/07/2006 20:44

DS was incredibly active & wriggled all the time, took him to Pirates of the Caribbean & he kicked all the way through. Bump, however, did nary a flutter when we saw Pirates 2 a few days ago - what a disappointment. My DS definitely NOT chilled out (tho adorable) dude. Still, they're only like 15cms long or something at the mo' what can we expect?!

accessorizequeen · 15/07/2006 20:48

I really am catching up 2nite, apologies.
Loulou, know what you mean about junk & esp hard with veggies. I went veggie a few months before getting pg, but found I wanted meat again but still don't really want to eat it every day. Cheese, cheese & more cheese seems to be my answer. Won't do the baby any harm imo if balanced with good stuff & it seems most of us do it anyway more or less. Have decided on my return from hols that I am going to make stacks of healthy veggie soup to keep me going.
and yes, your boobs will get bigger!! Wait till the milk comes in (even if you're not b/f). I agree E is enough already!

choccybickie · 16/07/2006 18:20

I've also felt movement for a few weeks but im only 19 now. Is it ever possible that they get the size and dates wrong in your first scan, im paranoid about the size of my bump too since its my first!! x

jabberwocky · 17/07/2006 01:49

cb, with ds my bump got so big, so fast everyone thought it was twins. This time, at 18 weeks I still look more chubby than actually pregnant. I always heard every pregnancy is different. Now I really understand what they were talking about.

Devongirl · 17/07/2006 09:23

Seems like I am not abnormal after all then - and if a slower moving baby might mean I will have a more chilled out baby I will be happy!!! Still only just 18 weeks so I know it could be another 4 weeks before ulyses (joke) moves for sure.

Thanks for reassuring me everybody! Stay nice and cool today - if possible - yesterday was WAY too hot for me

xxx

And yes, let's have a nice new thread just for the hell of it!
