I would imagine I'll be the first to post here for a little while - I just found out today.

Look forward to hearing for you soon Smile

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Oh it's fun not being the first to go. I'll get to see some of the birth annuncements before I nip off to Wrexham!

Devongirl · 29/06/2006 12:30

Hi all. Had an appointment with the midwife this morning and heard baby for the first time - there was a lovely strong heartbeat plus lots of movement. I was an emotional wreck but it was the loveliest sound I have ever heard!

I've only just realised that my baby is due on the winter solstice - the unusual thing being that ds was due on the summer solstice (though was born on the 8th June). OOhh.

I am feeling extremely paranoid today as when I woke up my bump seemed to have really shrunk. Maybe it had just settled down overnight as it has pouffed back out to being a fairly hard bump again - although I am now convinced that it is softer. Am getting all my mc fears again but don't want to phone midwife as I know all they'll suggest is arranging an appointment for a scan which could take days. Is it possible for a midwife or gp to listen to the heartbeat yet? (I'm 15 weeks today).
Does anyone else have changing bump size at the moment?

Devongirl · 29/06/2006 14:38

I think a lot of the bump size is to do with wind/constipation at the moment - when the midwife actually felt my uterus this morning i realised how much of the 'bump' was me - as the uterus is still down low and quite small. Don't panic!

And yes they can definitely hear the heartbeat now - and my midwife told me to ring her any time i wanted reassurance and she would squeeze me in to have a quick listen

cupcakes · 29/06/2006 15:39

thanks, Devongirl. I might give her a ring tomorrow if I still feel odd.

magnolia1 · 29/06/2006 15:48

Cupcakes, my bump is alwas smaller and sofetr in the morning and as the day goes on it gets bigger and harder (My god that sounds very rude )

My midwife aapt was at 13+5 and she listened to the heartbeat

Hopefully not long now till movement for most of us and we can start to relax a little.

cupcakes · 29/06/2006 15:50

lol!
that's a relief to hear that. I don't think I ever paid so much attention to all the little details the first time round. I was sure I must have felt movements by his stage before but dh insists I didn't.
I can't wait to feel it move but I know I'll then start worrying when I can't feel it.

DebbsyandBibby · 29/06/2006 15:56

hi all just though i would pop in and see how your all doing xx

Olihan · 29/06/2006 16:01

Cupcakes - I didn't feel movement with ds until 23 weeks, with dd it was 18 weeks so we'll wait and see with this one! You should be able to hear the heartbeat now - I'm sure I did with both of mine at my 16 week appointments. I remember every stage last time was a reason to worry a bit less - 12 weeks, 20 weeks when the scan was okay, 26 weeks when they become viable with reasonable odds, 36 weeks when they'll be pretty definitely okay. I know there's no guarantees but I did feel I got more relaxed as things progressed. It must be harder for you with the miscarriage, every twinge must make you panic. Hope you can get a bit of peace of mind from the midwives.

cupcakes · 29/06/2006 16:06

As this is going to be my last pg I had planned to really enjoy it but those seemingly carefree pregnancies (pre mc) seem to have happened to a different person.
My next scab isn't for over a month and I'm really holding out for that.
Thanks for your posts.

Debbsy - how are things?

DebbsyandBibby · 29/06/2006 16:18

really well thanks dont worry about your bump changing shape mine does all the time 19 wks tomorrow xx

cupcakes · 29/06/2006 16:38

cupcakes · 29/06/2006 16:41

DebbsyandBibby · 29/06/2006 17:01

choccybickie · 29/06/2006 19:28

Thanks eveyone for your kind words and advice, I've decided not t o let it bother me and that you're all right i will have a beautiful baby at the end! Cupcakes I'm the same my bump is much smaller and softer in the morning and it gets bigger and harder (that DOES sound rude!) as the day goes on. Had app with midwife on tuesday morning and listened to the heartbeat for the first time. It was amazing!! Lucy5 - same due date its good to know someone else is counting down to that date!!

cupcakes · 29/06/2006 19:30

choccy - your name is giving me serious cravings! I won't be able to last the next 6 months like this!

choccybickie · 29/06/2006 19:33

Ha ha tell me about it, ive been stuck with it since school. Im thinking i should change it to eatsicecreamlikeitsgoingoutoffashion it would describe my pregnancy perfectly!

accessorizequeen · 29/06/2006 22:01

Hey, debbsy, glad things are going well, you must be near your 2nd scan? Thanks for stepping in a while back, I felt so much better since that night, hormones completely calmed down.

spinamum · 30/06/2006 08:45

thanks for your kind messages. It seemed to be just Tuesday I was feeling so down.I've discovered it's better to wallow and let myself feel crap for a day than try to bury it when it comes to my mum.It seems to work. I have a cry and feel better.
My 'mones have calmed down again, but i almost killed my husband for critising my bin technique last night. Thankfully i held my tongue and didn't start crying in the middle of the kitchen.I just walked into the other room, broke open my bar of Green abd Black's Almond chocolate and ate half of it!

Chocybickie, I'm with everyone else. So sorry you're going through all this at the moment. There are loads of threads on here that may help.Thinking of you.

Bumpwise, I'm shrinking too! I'm in maternity tops at work cos my midrif was threatening to make an appearance. However i just look a bit untoned and fat in the morning so I'm finding i'm sticking my belly out on purpose on the bus in the morning(opposite to the last 20yrs!), but by the time I get the park and ride back in the evenings, I feel worthy of my mat tops! Lots of people outside of my dept at work have started to ask. Said they noticed a few weeks ago but weren't sure if it was pot belly or baby! I still haven't felt any stirrings and I'll be a lot happier when I've got that as a sign I'm still pg.

lucy5 · 30/06/2006 09:09

Hello all, it´s all a constant worry isn´t it? Even though this is baby number 2 I still keep thinking if I can just get to 12 weeks, 20 week scan etc then all will be well. I had dd 6 years ago and can´t remember what happened when. I keep hoping for movement, had the odd flutter but still not convinced.

Hello Choccy, nice to share a date

jabberwocky · 30/06/2006 10:41

Another changing bump size here. I didn't notice this at all with ds but it seems to vary quite a bit this time. Had also wondered about bloating/trapped wind being the issue as uterus is still quite low and really fairly small. I am surprised as well at how much of it is just me!

Counting down the days until amnio still (next Wed). I think the anxiety is really starting to wear on me. I had a bit of a scare that my Bell's Palsy might be coming back. I had that with ds, though not until the 3rd trimester

spinamum · 30/06/2006 11:11

i think the bump issue is also about muscles relaxing because i know (rationally) my bean is nowhere near the main part of my bump yet! My whole body seems to want to turn to liquid by the end of the day and if i could just lie down for one minute, I'll be totlly fine.. honest....cue sleeping sounds!

I caught a glimspe of my bum this morning. OMG. How did that grow sooooo big without me noticing . i konw it's supposed to happen and I thought it did last time, but it's a wonder I'm still fitting under tables when I sit down!I thought everything in the room seems a bit lower than usual

DebbsyandBibby · 01/07/2006 10:21

swo glad your feeling better ac q xx

spinamum · 02/07/2006 13:11

this heat is really annoying me now. My DH has said the only way to guarantee a good summer is to get me "up the Duff". (pg during summer 03 as well) I've never being a big hot weather person, but when I'm carrying alien life it's even worse!

Ice cubes to you all.

jabberwocky · 02/07/2006 14:17

I'm going through the ice like mad here as well. The heat is affecting me even more than when I was pg with ds - and he was born in August!
