Micku5 · 13/04/2006 16:53

Woo hoo.. am 20 weeks today. Half way there! Scan next week so am looking forward to that.

Arabica · 13/04/2006 20:33

Hi BMH, I have also got swollen ankles! My friend has recommended a herb tea which I have to get specially made up by the wholefood shop--will let you know whether it works.
I'm self employed (freelance journalist) and am doing feck all at the moment!

PinkTulips · 14/04/2006 00:25

we're heading down to dp's parents for easter, grrr. four days of sleeping on a matress on the floor and desperately trying to protect dd from the craziness.

mil who ignores dd only walking into the room when shes crying to tell me pointedly 'shes just crying because she doesnt know us', no, shes crying because shes teething but if you want to see her more try coming to visit with your free bus pass to our house with the lovely big spare bedAngry or for that matter getting out of bed before 4 in the afternoon to see her when we are there, aaarrggghhh!

not to mention fil who thinks its ok to let the huge dog whos known for biting jump all over my dd, dps brother whos supposed to be her godfather who can't be bothered to walk the five mins down the road from his flat to see her, then tells us its a shame he doesn't get to see her much, dps sister who comes in drunk at 3 in the morning shouting and screaming the house down and waking dd.... o god, don't think hormonal preganant me is going to cope with four days of it.......

please tell me i'm not the only one with crazy in-laws!

Arabica · 14/04/2006 00:51

PT, I don't know how you stand it! I hope you manage the hols without going insane. I've got ideal in-laws--they live in Australia.

Nbg · 14/04/2006 09:31

What can I say PT but good luck!!!
I'm hoping and praying for a nice day on Sunday with just the 3 of us. I think dd is starting to miss dh now.

Well early this morning I had my first leg cramp. My god, I forgot how much they hurt!
My calf feels all bruised now. Boohooooooo!!!!
So it'll be a calcium only diet from now on to try and avoid anymore.

Have also bid on some gorgeous all in one suits on ebay Grin

am feeling more movement but dh isnt still not strong enough for him i cant believe in two weeks times i'll be two thirds of the way thru and getting maternity allowance instead of contibution based jobseekers which runs out at just the right time so i'm goona be rich cant believe my 4d scan is in another 6 weeks must say tho i feel much close to my bump know i sort of know what the sex is

SnowBoo · 15/04/2006 22:31

Well glad to hear all is well Nbg. They certainly are little monkeys!

Went for dinner at Mils today, my ribs felt stretched so asked her lodger (Ward Sister, has got prev mw exp) She felt and said it was his bum in between cage pushing his way in! I'd forgotten how much it hurts. And he is definately bigger than my two ds's. Huge. Like a baby elephant....

And talk about wobbly! Anyone else struggling with getting dressed? Poor dh has had to start helping me already!

Well have a good Easter! I'm off til Monday now.

Take care all xx

lunavix · 17/04/2006 15:46

Hi everyone! It was ds 2nd bday this weekend and he loved it, really got the hang of present opening although he's still got some!

Everyone who knows me well keeps commenting how my bump is half the size it was with ds (very true. put on 5 stone) although everyone else says I'm huge... worried about the state I was in last time now!

Bought some lovely triumph bras in debenhams, they're soft but underwired, and I'm bursting out of my normal ones but - the new ones are smaller! I realised the one I had on today which seems tiny is 36E (left over from bf-ing ds) and the new ones are 36DD... hmm! I can't do maternity bras, can't do no underwire!

We've decided to get an e3, so I'm pretty chuffed as it's the buggy I've always wanted. Been buying tons of girls clothes I really need to get more organised with receipts just in case! 23 weeks this upcoming saturday...

BigHotMama · 17/04/2006 16:44

Afternoon Ladies, Happy Easter! Hope your all well and not too stuffed of chocolate! Bit miffed I didnt get my usual Thorntons egg off my parents as am really craving their chocolate and gallons of milk to wash it down.
Arabica, how did that herbal tea go? My ankle bone has put in an appearance for the moment but I'm sure in a few weeks they'll be swollen again. Oh well cant complain too much as apart from that and heartburn my health as been ok so far.
Lunavix, whats an E3? I'm looking for a travel system at the moment, all confused and cant decide? Blush (Does anybody rate Mamas n Papas Pliko Travel system or Urban Detour from Mothercare? Advice needed...)
Talking of weight I've put on 12 pound so far and thats mainly chocolate! Must cut down!
I've been getting comments like 'ooh your big for 5nhalf months? Is it twins? One could be hiding behind the other?' Shock
Went to see midwife on Friday and after listening in to the heartbeat she hinted she could tell the sex? Is this possible? Of course I continued to probe her for more info and I'm sure she was hinting that I'm having a girl because of the heartrate was around 150 bpm, and they are normally faster than boys? I'd heard this is more of an old wives tale? Got me excited anyhow and still like to think it could be either! Dh is no convinced its going to be a Maddison rather than a Dylan! Bless! He said do you think our little girl will be into football? (Typical bloke!) Grin

Lmao Melsy at being the thread killer! Lets see how this one of mine goes! I'll probably send everyone to sleep its an essay!

melsy · 18/04/2006 08:57

looks like I have thread killing competition eh Bhm !!!

Well I hope everyone has survived the choc fest , did you all have a good easter weekend , me Ive had no choc at all, as had nasty tummy bug since Thursday night, so NIL by mouth. This preganancy has been a very ill one and IM mightyly fed up with it, my mum says I look gaunt , the upside is I havent put more weight on, only a stone/14lbs so far. DEspite all the lurgys did have a great tourist style day out yesterday in central London, Lunch at Shad thames , boat trip to waterloo and back and tea at the Tower hotel , was a lovely treat for all the family and me , as Ive been stuck in for weeks and weeks, inc toilet training. IM a bit pooped today from it all and everywere needs tidying, so do I sit watch tv , MN or tidy , or lay in bed with dd????????!!!!!!

BigHotMama · 18/04/2006 09:42

Do you have to rub it in Melsy? I'm back at work today and counting the weeks down till I leave (12 weeks friday). If I were you I'd be sitting in bed watching tv in chocolate heaven. Sounds lush! I'm now competing with you for the title 'Threadkiller 2006' Grin.

melsy · 18/04/2006 09:56

ooops sorry BHM, I do have business work to do to , just cant face it today. Hope the weeks go quick for you.

seems a shame to slovern in doors ,another sunny day today. Just like a lolopy ton weight on sofa right now. (OOOPPP SORRY AGAIN BHM) , dont mean to rub it in, If its any consolation being ill last few weeks has been horrid horrid, and gp said I must rest lots.

BigHotMama · 18/04/2006 10:32

Your loving this aint ya? At least its quiet at work and only handful of staff in so can come on MN for most the day wehey!
I've been getting pins n needles feeling about 2 inches below my boobs and am wondering what it could be? Surely the baba cant be that high yet? Maybe its stretching skin or something, any ideas?

PinkTulips · 18/04/2006 13:57

hello all, hope everyone had a better easter then me! no major blowups with the in-laws but came close a few times. and poor dd was shoved full of horrible processed food all weekend coz they eat like shit. so relived to be home!

BHM- i get the pins and needles thing, accompanied by patches of no feeling like when your arm goes dead. i think it's just caused by the stretching of the skin and your nerves not being able to keep up. as for baby being 2 inches below boobs, mine definitely is! i have a fairly short torso so theres not much room for the little guy and he is most definitely that far up already, he's kicking the crap out of my ribs too!

BigHotMama · 18/04/2006 14:11

Pinktulips, sounds like a cracking weekend was had then? Processed food, yuk! Whatever happened to good old home cooking eh?
Sounds exactly the same as what your feeling, thought it might be my posture as always slouching when I'm at my desk at work, the area where it feels numb is rock hard and almost feels like a big muscle underneath the padding??All my kicks are all still very low down, inline with belly button and towards bladder? Aint had kick in the ribs yet tho OUCH! Heard they hurt like hell! Shock

lunavix · 18/04/2006 21:11

BHM \link{http://www.twoleftfeet.co.uk/Phil___Teds_Explorer.html\this} is an e3. It's a 3 wheeler travel system, that you can buy an extra seat for to make it into a double decker buggy! Obviously you don't have to buy the second seat, it's just a good option for us as ds will only be 2.4 when this bump is born.

My two pennies worth, the pliko is something we were considering but the wheels are rather poor and as I do a lot of walking this is an issue. Plus mamas and papas carseats don't always rate very high, and also I like the idea of the carrycot pod thing but it looks rather ugly when attached.

We had an urban detour travel system with ds - the 3 wheeler one 'pinnacle kyoto' or something, black with one red stripe. It fell apart after 18 months, bits kept falling off (zips and stuff) and the front wheel started wobbling every time it went over the tiniest bump or curb. Hated the thing by the end!

kitegirl · 18/04/2006 21:22

Melsy sorry to hear you've been down with a bug! Hope you and everyone else get to enjoy the lovely weather, it's starting to get bearable now!

Now I have something to top all pregnancy complaints and if this doesn't raise the miserable stakes to a new level I don't know what will. I saw the consultant haematologist today, just a check-up (had a blood clot last year so am on medication during the pregnancy blah blah...) I thought he would send me home with a new prescription, which he did - and three pairs of anti-embolism socks! HOSPITAL WHITE THICK KNEE-HIGH SOCKS, you know like those thick flight socks that OLD PEOPLE wear on flights to prevent DVT! Apparently I have to wear them ALL THE TIME FOR THE REST OF THE PREGNANCY! Oh yes. Summer is coming, I've bought lovely strappy sandals to wear with lovely maternity dresses. knee high socks won't look that good with those now will they???? In +30C heat? That's it, I am not leaving the house for the next four months. Bring on another three stone I don't care. Alternatively I'll just chuck them and take my chances. Bollocks.

SnowBoo · 18/04/2006 21:44

Hi all, hope Easter was good and full of choccie eggs!

My 'little' bump has now decided to stick his bum between my ribs and cause really bad burning pains in there. Bless. And i'm bigger now with 15 weeks to go than i was full term with ds. Oh joy. Now i know the meaning 'as big as a house' Actually, a small block of flats is more apt.

kitegirl · 18/04/2006 21:46

SnowBoo you have to do better than that. I am still winning...

SnowBoo · 18/04/2006 21:56

I guess the sexy white socks do top it don't they. I have a pair in my undie drawer if anyone needs to look sexy one evening!
Will keep mine for after the birth so if dh gets any ideas i'll pop them on with my maternity bra and BIG knickers. That'll do the trick Wink
