Hot Choc and whipped Bream - Gosh! Thems some weird pregnancy cravings you've got there!

(sorry I know it was a typo but it made me laugh)

sundaesundae · 13/08/2012 14:46

So today I drove into a wall, can I blame preggo brain? It is a company car, so hopefully easily sorted.

I phoned the US dept to ask about my appointment, it is 8.30am on the 29th, hopefully things will feel real after that??

Zoey, SIL is a bitch

HaitchJay - grrr brake lights, hope app goes well

Welcome newbies

zoeymlucas · 13/08/2012 14:52

Are you ok sundae - stuff the car worry about yourself and baby bean :)

I think she is a bitch too :)

Lexiindisguise · 13/08/2012 15:02

newyears yay for scan buddies! Only a week now Grin
sundae hope you are OK after crash

sundaesundae · 13/08/2012 15:02

I am absolutely fine, I thought I had kerbed an alloy, turned out I hit the house (my house!) and have scraped the bumper quite badly. Have just emailed me fleet manager to see what happens now as it is a comp car. I have told her I swerved to miss a cat, by which I meant bin.

I was training some radiographers today and one kept staring at my belly, I think I might be starting to show. But as it is just dust I am sure that won't continue ;)

theTramp · 13/08/2012 15:14

I'm wondering if the bream was whipped Indiana Jones style or with a whisk.. :)

I'd blame pregnancy brain for the scrape. Let's face it, any other time it's just your fault - this is one time you have an excuse.

HaitchJay · 13/08/2012 15:15

Got here on time. am booked in and had scan. They've said 9 weeks so EDD 18-3-12. Next scan 31/10.
Waiting for consultant now. Full waiting room and just seen someone from work.

tiddleypompom · 13/08/2012 15:21

Nice one haitch :)

Sorry to hear about the car bump sundae - hope you missed the cat too Wink

Want to sleep, the three o clock lull is getting worse...

Thereisamumthatnevergoesout · 13/08/2012 15:53

Hi All,

Not been on for a few days. Partly because tiredness and nausea is hitting me in bursts and partly because DH has been around and we are still skirting around the tiny issue that we're expecting a baby.

I have tentatively dropped the pregnancy word into conversations just to say 'we might not be talking about this but it is still happening'. He did suggest I shouldn't play tennis with DS in the park the other day because 'should I be jiggling around in my condition'.

It's very disfunctional on many levels but it will sink in with him eventually!

I have skimmed over the posts but far too many to retain in my head.

Briefly, whoever said their sickness has returned, apparently it gets worse just before it gets better. Some boost of hormones or something.

Whoever has been talkign about being skint - I'm in that club too. With it not being my first DC, I am not as concerned with having new stuff etc so don't mind watching the pennies. I am in the middle of starting a business which will probably be set back a year beacuse of this baby. But as my RL BF said 'your business can wait, but your biological clock can't'.

It's all very terrifyingly exciting.

Pleased for all of you with good scans.

Think I am off to Tesco now to get some Findus crispy pancakes. Saw some on tv and now I need some.

Thereisamumthatnevergoesout · 13/08/2012 15:54

Sorry about the car sundae.

At least you saved the cat Wink

zoeymlucas · 13/08/2012 16:01

Glad your scan went well haitch :)
Am so excitred for home time at 5.30 - DH has made homemade lasagna i know I cant spell with salad and garlic bread am am so hungry, there are perks to a stay at home hubby!
I am in the skint club to or will be as DH stays home with kids as I can just earn alot more so work full time so really not sure how much time I can take off but its looking more like weeks than months which sucks, but Ihave decided to worry about that in about 20 weeks as things change so much :)

Glad you got good news on DF tiddley

sundaesundae · 13/08/2012 16:01

I really hope that the sickness thing is true, I had a couple of better days and now the nausea and boobies are getting me all bloody day.

i think I need to go and buy some maternity tights, I am 10 flipping weeks!

Lexiindisguise · 13/08/2012 16:26

tiddley great news about your DF!
thereisamum good luck with your business! DH got made redundant 6 months ago & he is trying to start up his own business with 2 other colleagues. We planned to TTC next year once we'd have more idea of how it was going but these things have a habit of occurring all at once!Wink

theTramp · 13/08/2012 16:33

I can empathise on the new bis front. I started my bis in May this year. I think all will be well. Way I see it, I have until Christmas to cement everything and bring in an infrastructure which will reassure everyone that I am working with.

sarahs999 · 13/08/2012 16:41

Hello all

I am on my day of hell at the office - an all day and well-into-the-nighter as we try to put out an Olympic supplement from start to finish in one day. Gah.

However I am pleased to report that over the weekend my nausea has subsided and is still staying away today - I was utterly dreading being here as I have been so tired and ill feeling that I'm usually in bed as soon as dinner is over (sometimes before!). Just treated myself to a small piece of millionaire's shortbread which was the killer test - sweet stuff has been making me almost instantly nauseous. NOt today! So very lucky. Ten weeks tomorrow; my handy iphone app tells me this is taking me out of embryo territory and into the world of fetuses. Fabbo. I could actually feel my womb this morning as I lay in bed, through the more than ample padding on my belly. Sometimes it seems to tighten and be firmer than other times. Other people finding that?

HermioneBoo · 13/08/2012 17:08

Hello everyone! I've managed to do myself a mischief, not only am I suffering from a cough and throwing up every time I cough a lot, but I've also bust a blood vessel on my eye and got a huge bruise on my arm where I managed to bust open the vein that I had the blood test taken from! Coughing is dangerous!!
Better news is that I managed a full day back at work today, I still feel nausea but managed to keep my coughing to a minimum so I didn't have to run to the loos. Only my boss and my friend know at work and news travels fast so it's need to know basis only so far!
I'm 9 weeks tomorrow, and I think things have been worse symptom wise just recently so hoping they get better. It's very encouraging to read about you lot whose symptoms are fading a little

KFFOREVER · 13/08/2012 17:33

Hi everyone

Gosh so many posts to catch up on. Forgot to name check. Im blaming it on baby brain.

Congrats to those who have had positive scans. I now have a scan on 29th August when im 12+3.

Today I really enjoyed a tuna mayo roll and apple juice at least its not chocolate which I seemed to hate now.

It was first day back at work today following my horrible sickness. Feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the stuff I have to catch up on but my bean is much more important than work. Funny how managers think. They seem to think this was not a planned pregnancy. Do they not know anything other than work? Whether I like it or not I will be working until im old and wrinkly but there's no way biological clock will last that long so why shouldn't I have children.

To those whose sickness has subsided I really don't think worse is over. My 2 pregnant friends are well into 2nd trimester and still are sick. Then again my 2 other friends hardly had any sickness. So everyone is different.

My post probs don't make sense because Im sooooo tired. Was watching the olympics last night. I still think the closing ceremony should be after the paralympics but thats a whole different post.

Im off for a 10 min an hour nap before DH comes home.

KFFOREVER · 13/08/2012 17:34

Herm Just seen your post. How horrible. Hope you rest when you get home from work.

sundaesundae · 13/08/2012 17:38

KFF yay, we are scan buddies! I will be 12+2 (I think, well I conceived on 18th June, so I kinda know) so one day behind you. Do you have to have a full bladder? I haven't had a letter yet, I phoned and pestered :o)

HaitchJay · 13/08/2012 18:06

Yes full bladder for scans, doesn't matter so much for late ones but def 12/20 week scans.

mandasand · 13/08/2012 18:50

Hi everyone! My goodness, yet more sickness, good+happy scans, blown fuses, weeing without meaning to, money worries, new businesses, horrible injections, burst blood vessels, car scrapes, missed cats (good one!) Hope everyone is hanging on in there!

FX re those blastocysts tiddley and yay for Dad's check-up! Really rooting for you Child (v.v. glad spotting has stopped). We're telling parentals at the weekend too tramp (we think we are anyway - 90% decided and 10% anxious that we'll not have had 12-week scan by then). Welcome emma!

Your SIL sounds a nightmare zoey. I find DH is a bit protective of his family when I dare to criticise anyone, but will happily criticise them himself - I hate having to tread carefully around issues we ought to be able to discuss normally. Best thing to do is just to ignore her existence as much as possible, I'd say! Don't let her upset you as it sounds like she's not worth it.

I'm still convinced that my belly is shrinking rather than expanding, tho my newly returned appetite has buggered off and I'm feeling a bit funny about what I eat again which is a bit reassuring. 2nd midwife appt on Thursday and I'm sure she'll tell me to stop being so paranoid about the tiniest things. 11 weeks tomorrow - surely a good place to be. Just hope the beans are still growing. Made the mistake yesterday of reading a woman's blog whose twin boys came out too early (18 weeks) and died in her arms. REALLY not a good thing. Sobbed for ages.

Actually think I went a little bit mad staying in the house on my own for three days, with DH up north and saying no to the odd invitation to go out and be social. I got a useful chunk of writing done - a bit I wasn't looking forward to as well - but I had lost a lot of social skills by time DH got home last night and we stayed up till 2am catching up and today has been a bit of a struggle to say the least with the tiredness. DH is now on the way home and he says he is going to cook and tickle my belly and I told him to pop into Boots to get some of that Durex Play stuff as my libido is definitely saying 'Hello!' although my lady bits are still resolutely and weirdly in hibernation (TMI? Sorry!) Anyone else got revived libido?

Me too very bereft that the Limpix is over. And I swear I've been completely uninterested in watching sport on TV before. Bizarre. The BBC compilations of best moments had me in tears last night! Closing ceremony a bit pants to say the least, tho got a bit better with Take That and The Who at the end. Tempted to go for Paralympic tix.

pinkpeony4 · 13/08/2012 18:54

Hi everyone

So much to catch up on! Had a manic weekend and so haven't had a chance to catch up. Been reading on and off all day and have finally caught up!

Congrats to everyone who has had a good scan, such a relief. I can't wait until mine on Friday although I am extremely nervous and hoping everything is ok.

Welcome to the other newbies. There are quite a lot of us on our 4th now isn't there?

I had a very blonde/pregnant moment today. I had my appointment for the initial midwife consultation and bloods in my diary for today and so arranged for ds1&2 to go on playdates and off I went. When I arrived I went to reception and handed them my letter. The receptionist asked me if I had changed my appointment which was weird. I said no and she said that my appointment was actually on Friday! Amazingly they managed to fit me in and they took 4 big vials of blood so hopefully they have what they need for my NT scan on Friday. I did feel very stupid though!

Midwife also weighed me and I was amazed to have only gained a couple of llbs. I feel enormous and have been refusing to go near the scales for fear of what they will say!

I have never had to have a full bladder for 12 or 20 week scans before. Maybe it depends on the hospital. I am going to a different hospital to the last 3 times this time and really hope it's the same because it's so painful having a full bladder.

Sorry not to manage any personals today, feel exhausted after the weekend and so need an early night!

I hope everyone is Ok

JoJoBella84 · 13/08/2012 19:09

pink just a heads up on the full bladder thing. Only have two cups of water!! My letter didn't state how much to drink or how long in advance so I spent 90 mins drinking a litre and the sonographer couldn't believe I wasn't in agony!! Even the baby was trying to boot my bursting bladder away from it!! I had to go empty it and come back!!
I've been told no more than 2 cups in future!! Ha! Was funny to watch the little legs booting me though!!

HaitchJay · 13/08/2012 19:54

Dr was a bit crap today. Was in a max of 4 mins , most of which was spent discussing my next appt. he first said 34 weeks then when I said I was consultant care only he said 24. Midwife eventually told him I had to be seen in the next 15 weeks and that I should come back at 16 weeks. Don't think he even looked at me!
Luckily he's not the consultant so I can always go higher if needed.
Bit disappointed I'm not having a 12 week scan too but half expected that.
