Hi everyone, welcome lady
I have no idea why I required the afternoon nap I've just had, I've done nothing all day except try to pack a suitcase for my brief return oooooop north!
Supposed to be there 3 weeks but am now travelling up tomorrow coming back down on Monday, funeral tues, back up north on weds as I have my scan with the consultant on Thursday (all of this travel is going to take its toll on my sanity) normally for the journey from York to Aberdeen I can travel 1st class (student rail card and book 3 months in advance) can get a good deal. But as the train fares have been hiked up I'll be sitting with the Saturday drunks for 6 bloody hours... I'm not gonna lie to you ladies and I don't care if this makes be sound a little snobbish I'm genuinely concerned needing to vomit on the train. I mean, the toilets (especially in standard) are generally covered in urine or blocked or the floor is covered in used paper.... Urgh, I'm setting myself off!
I prey that tomorrow, I am not a hobo!!

rainbow I have no problem with my oh looking after bambino, I do have a problem with him being 400 miles away when he does it. I'll be studying for at least 14 weeks (10 of those are full time work placement). Even now, and I've not felt baby move or anything yet, I feel I couldn't be away from my baby for 14 weeks!! Plus he works full time. But, either way it's either me missing bambi or him missing bambino! We need to think about such things in more detail once baby arrives :)

There was so much more I wanted to comment on but my memory is shot!! Was someone talking about cravings?? Every time I go into a shop I have to buy a Capri sun. I love veggies again, today I had a chocolate milkshake which was delicious... Though reading in the allergy advice that it contains milk made me chuckle a bit!!

lannyshrops · 24/08/2012 20:12

Hey all! Not been sleeping too well, so when i'm not working, i'm zombied out! But comparing to some i'm v.v.v.lucky so will not complain!

I'm so pleased about eggs, I have been craving poached egg oin toast (it's my normal breakfast) and now can have!!! Yippee!!!

turkish our bean was a surprise, we were thinking about TTC about now, but looks like mother nature had other ideas! I think we are so lucky being spared the whole TTC thing. I count my blessings!

jojo congratulations on exam pass!!!

Sheldon I'm v jeallous, I want to do nursery too!!!

zoey no internet!!! thats surely a contravention of your human rights!!!!

Welcome ladymia

mandasand my boss went back to work after 8 weeks and managed fine, I know she didn't have twins, but i'm sure you will be able to do whatever is the right thing for you and your family xxx

I'm planning on taking a year out, we think we can afford it?!?! That said, if I want to go back sooner I can do. I'm determined not to worry about what may be in 18 months time, it will all be ok in the end..it seems that way for everyone i've met with children from all different family set ups and backgrounds. My parents are 3 hours away so we can't rely on them and in laws in the same village, but in the mid 70's. I don't feel it's appropriate to rely on them for any formal child care so it will be nursery all the way for us I think. It looks like I can reduce to 30 hours over 4 days and DH can work extra and have Friday's off, so hopefully will all work out! If i really can't face work i'll have to go back for at least 3 months to pay back occupational matty pay. We are keeping our options open really. The one thing I have learnt from everyone I know with children is not to plan!!!

I am super excited, my wonderful SIL has just moved house. Her youngest is nearly 4 and so has donated loads of stuff to us, toys, cot, birthing ball to name a few! The in laws have it stored at their house at present (I don't want to tempt anything yet) but we are going to have a nosey tomorrow!

12 weeks tomorrow and scan on Wednesday...eeek!!It's been a long time comming, just hope there is actually a bean there and that it's not all in my imagination of something!

HarrietJonesPrimeMinister · 24/08/2012 20:12

Ok, I still can't remember what people said for long enough to answer/join in!

Welcome to lady

Re work- I work p/t and dh works p/t and My mum picks up the slack. I loved mat leave last time (15 months incl sick/ hols, dd1/2 were only 3/4 months max) and hated going back but I need to do something outside home. We've a good balance at the moment but money can be tight. We had a good start together though as we both had houses to sell and savings. Dh used to have a v good job too but left it to spend more time with dd3.

Lexiindisguise · 24/08/2012 20:21

tedmundo my brother lives up right on the Downs (Downs Park West Road) - I love it there so much, miss the West Country!
lady welcome. I'm only 1 year older than you and also expecting LO #1. Also not sure if we will have more than 1!

Well I have outdone myself with 3 hours of naps today! I have also done the supermarket run and cleaned the house from top to bottom for visitors, and cooked DH supper for the first time in a few weeks (sausages, roast squash and broccoli). Felt a little grumpy buying beer and wine for our visitors but told myself not to be so churlish Blush !

Really interesting to hear everyone's plans about SAHM/SAHD/return to work. At the moment, I plan to go back after 9 months but have put a request in to do 4 days a week. I get flex hours, so we hope to have DH (who works for himself) do the morning routine & nursery run, me to get to work as early as possible, and leave at 4:30 to pick up and do supper routine. DH may also work extra evenings/saturday mornings to do one day childcare but it really depends on whether that is realistic once the business is established. I plan to go back to my current job but look for something closer to home after a year or so. But I am very aware all of these plans may change, partly due to my own feelings and partly as so much is dependent on DH's job! I've always been very career focused (I'm a product marketing manager and work in the tech industries) and really enjoy my job, so I've been surprised at the worries and pangs I am having so early into the pregnancy.

HarrietJonesPrimeMinister · 24/08/2012 20:52

Just seen a May thread!

HermioneBoo · 24/08/2012 21:20

You know what lovely ladies? I bloody love Gaviscon I do! I might actually get some sleep tonight :)

Welcome lady!

I'm thinking I'm going to go back to work after 9 months mat leave, that would mean I go back just before Christmas and then get Christmas break. I was trying to see if I could afford a year off but it's depressing enough going back to work after Christmas and New Year, never mind having to leave LO for the first time. However, this is DC1 so who knows what I will feel when he/she arrives?

Chefette · 24/08/2012 21:34

Welcome lady glad you made it over Wink - told you they were a "chatty" bunch?!

I've been pretty quiet, we've been getting work done on house and so I only MN on the phone, the work is spiralling/increasing!! Tradesmen quoting left right and centre, and we have ripped out half the garden Blush not sure when DP planning on putting it back........?!

DP and DB off on a motor biking weekend "darn sarf" (most things are south of us!) to Lincoln for British super bike championships. I'm having a Chinese and gardeners world night, wondering if I'll ever ride my motorbike again? Sad

Erm, so have forgotten all I was going to write- oh yes jojo when you get the train up north, a couple miles out of Montrose you'll go past our house, we back onto the east coast mainline (but it's not noisy, it's in a cutting!) so give us a wave!!

No cravings, no symptoms other than boobache a-plenty when I take off the boulder holders, no change in bra size yet, still 34hh ( don't even stress me out thinking how I am going to cope when they do the inflate trick, and BF?? Am going to need scaffolding......)!!!! But have dropped a dress size with the (healthy bar the Chinese!) eating for the last few months. No need yet for maternity stuff, cannae see anything resembling a bump, I'll be 12 wks next mon, but keeping an eye on some of the threads on here and a half eye on fleabay. To be frank I am just wanting to know if I am also imagining this whole pregnancy malarky (sp?).

Info ref me; Inside leg 32, I'm 5ft 6 and 36 and a Taurus Wink.

Notting Hill away to start-yay!

My week off work draws to an end, not looking forward to the return, even though been sort of keeping an eye on things on blackberry.

As for "la retour" post birth, I think I'll be taking 9 months, as there is no pay after that and I am main bread winner. We have a few ideas about what we'll do child care wise, but to be honest we are just gong to have to see if DP becomes SAHP, or if he goes P/T, or if nursery childminder or mix thereof is what happens. Regardless I'll have to go back full time tho, more's the pity!!

Have yet to decide when I'll tell work the good news (not sure they'll see it like that however!) but prob not for a while, until scan stuff out of the way. STILL no-one other than me and DP know, apart from my pal who is a GP who I called in a panic 6 weeks ago when we got a pos test but thinking we were at 11 weeks at THAT point ( no the PhD is def not math related!)

anyway, rambles galore, pussy cats are cuddled up, and Hugh Grant's just been snogged by Julia so over and out Marchers-will look out for thread IV (?!) soon- must be some sort of record???

Have good weekends all, think the southern folk on bank holibobs? Enjoy!!

tiddleypompom · 24/08/2012 22:06

Good point chef, we'll need a new thread soonish - whose turn is it? Mk IV, heavens.

tiddleypompom · 24/08/2012 22:09

By the way chef I will need to be told the size of your bra when your milk comes in. Seriously :o

(am not a chesty bird hence 'HH' is making my eyes water)

JoJoBella84 · 24/08/2012 22:12

chefette I'll be waving frantically :D or puking like a hobo!!!

JoJoBella84 · 24/08/2012 22:14

Ooooh yeah what are we naming the new thread? Something to do with sneezing and wearing a bit I do believe ;)

confuddledDOTcom · 24/08/2012 23:26

I got my next scan in the post today, it?s 4 weeks away Shock I?m not used to going this long between scans, what will I do with the freedom?! My big two have gone to their grandparents today. The ILs own a caravan and decided to take it away for the weekend and as we?re the only ones who?ll let them take grandchildren with them or aren?t too old, they took the girls. I?m finding it quite funny, I hate bedsharing with #2, she?s such a fidget! MIL is going to be sharing with both and FIL is sleeping outside. Sounds like FIL has the best deal! Husband is back from Jersey tomorrow, going back out on Wednesday so it?ll be nice to have a couple of days of him to myself, apart from the baby but she?s not so demanding.

Here we go, catch up time!

Manda, I agree with Tramp. You might feel totally different when baby is here. Even if you don?t, they?ll be ways around things. Have a look into postnatal Doulas.

Kirsty, if you have a scan picture you can sometimes tell from the nub. I think I?m having a girl based on my 12 week scan.

Hi ladymia! I was almost 10 weeks pregnant when I found out, Mum insisted that I tested, I was getting really indignant (why can mums make a 30 year old mother of 3 feel like a teenager?) because I knew I wasn?t! I was convinced it was an error with the test so when a couple of days later I had a scan and saw a baby waving at me I was in shock! I craved Cadbury cream eggs in one of my pregnancies, I was inpatient for 4 weeks and bought the hospital out of eggs (not cheap!) and had to nag people to bring them in for me.

Harriet ? that?s terrible! You can get pack 2 by applying online at the website and don?t forget Emma?s Diary.

Jojo, you?ve been making a baby, isn?t that enough?

Tiddley, HH isn't that big really. I keep looking down everytime I hear people say it's big and can never get my head around it, looks about average to me.

Looks like we're starting a new thread tomorrow!

tedmundo · 24/08/2012 23:26

jojo .. I have had to start doing a pee as soon as i get the wave of nausea as I know now my pelvic floor cannot cope with the retching. Oh the shame.

Good luck on the train journey. Your posts take me back 20 yrs .. being sick in the sink of a student house, trains, parks. My heart does go out to you, you seem to be so hard hit with the sickness.

manda .. good luck with the scan in the morning. i will let you know how I get on too.

I am loving hearing all the different plans for working/sah etc as it really shows how far we have come that there are now so many options available to families. No one way is "right" anymore, you just do what is best for you and your family.

lexi .. I am 2 mins from your brother. If you want to impress him with some bang up to date local gossip, tell him the new build on North View (end of his road) is going to be a personal training gym. I know the new owners!

tedmundo · 24/08/2012 23:30

confuddled .. as someone only just filling a B cup now the boobies have grown a bit, HH sounds fantastic to me.

confuddledDOTcom · 24/08/2012 23:36

I can never get the comments about too big, TBH. People who can't breastfeed with them, can't find bras, get bad backs and sore boobs...

Chefette · 24/08/2012 23:40

tiddley, am just a bravissimo fitted girl!! Would it surprise you to know more than 50% of women wear the wrong bra size? Usually at least one size too big on the back, and 1-3 cup sizes too small! I used to be a trained bra fitter, and it was my party trick to be able to tell girl pals what size they should be; they wouldn't believe me and go and get fitted, and I'd be on the money give or take a cup! Wink

Thread name suggestions in people's next posts!!

jojo no vom-ing!! Power of the mind! On a gentler note hope the funeral goes ok next week; all this travelling will be expensive and tiring, is there a way you could transfer rest of your course up to RGU or Abdn at all to be nearer DP and later potentially LO?? Pretty tough on you all being potentially separated so long next year Sad

confuddledDOTcom · 25/08/2012 00:17

Chefette, I'm another Bravissimo girl. I don't care that I have to pay a little more (it's not like it's a massive amount, really) because they're such lovely bras. I trained in fashion design and I've worked as an Ann Summers Party Organiser, I'm like you with guessing people's sizes. I don't think that many people are much under a C but many shops insist on using the old way of measuring.

ThreeForTea · 25/08/2012 01:11

confuddled I never get the fact that shops like next and the like do such a narrow range of sizes.

I got measured as a 30E a couple of years ago, but told it would be ok to wear a 32DD. When my milk came in with dd I used to look at those dainty bras and weep! The closest I came to comfort in the early days of bf'ing was 36g! I had to send dh out for it that morning as I had nothing to hold the nappies (breast pads? ) in place!

Have really enjoyed reading peoples 'after baby work' plans and experiences. I have just muddled through a year of post mat leave part time work (took demotion to drop to 25 hours) and not sure I got it quite right. I love going to work though, so much, but also missed baby so am thinking carefully what to do this time (partic because need to see if I can afford two sets of childcare)

Manda I think my ideal with two babies would be a nanny at my house, I don't think the same under one rules that childminders have apply to someone in your home - after all, you have to manage it! Nursery for two under ones you might ruin you, unless you are entitled to vouchers/tax credits. My dd went to nursery for one half day and a cm for the rest of the time. The full day rate for nursery was £67 a day, and it was a surestart one, not in London.

kirsty80 · 25/08/2012 07:21

God we can chat!

Just a quick one! Thinking of you mandasand can't wait to hear about your two beans! X

New thread: I coughed and wee wee'd a bit!

Have a good day everyone! X

tiddleypompom · 25/08/2012 07:54

March Mk IV: knicker checking; knicker wetting; knicker knackered.

tiddleypompom · 25/08/2012 07:55

Enjoy those scans guys - and give the beans a wave from their Aunty Marchers :o

Chefette · 25/08/2012 08:03

tiddley that's superb, add in "due in March 2013, thread IV" or similar for those that may miss the switch and I'll vote for that as a winner!!

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 25/08/2012 08:08

Good luck on scans today ladies! SmileSmile
I am a mighty 10 weeks today. This is taking sooooo long to get to the scan date!

Nice to see my exploits potentially getting a mention in new thread title!SmileBlush

Hi lady! Welcome!

Got ILs coming for weekend so bracing myself...

Lexiindisguise · 25/08/2012 08:51

Good luck with scans everyone!

theTramp · 25/08/2012 09:20

Ethel - I was 10 weeks yesterday. I'm so impatient for 12 weeks and hopefully the all clear.

JoJo - take wet wipes with you - at least you can clean the loo bowl before voming if you find you have to and paper towels to kneel on. And sit on carriage closest to 1st class so you can use their loos or the quiet carriage which usually puts the footy lot off.

Good luck on scans today ladies!

I have a v hung over MrM in bed at the mo. "work drinks" that got a bit too drinky. I suspect fact we don't share a bottle of wine or a beer these days means he went a bit mad. Poor dove. Even poorer considering that I'm forcing him up shortly to assist with pre guest arrival cleaning and swiney cat is taking her opportunity to torture him by purring in his ear.
