Hi ladies

Well had scan and all is well, phew Smile

We are team surprise still, hospital policy not to tell us so only another 19 or so weeks until we find out!

Placenta is anterior and high. So relieved and will now start the search for double buggy. Bit Confused about icandy now tho as not sure we will get in time! Oops, better look into it sharpish.

Glad ur scan went well Utopian Smile

WeeJo08 · 03/08/2012 21:28

Spotty Have you tried Fybogel?

WillYouDoTheFandango · 03/08/2012 21:47

Congrats on the scan JoJo

I am suffering tonight, Oh god, the heartburn, the awful awful heartburn! Off to down a gallon of Gaviscon!

WeeJo08 · 03/08/2012 21:59

I've just downed a glass of Fybogel and 3 prunes and I am HOPING it will help! Spotty Feeling your pain!

itsMYNutella · 03/08/2012 22:03

Spotty good luck with the remedies! I find lots of fruit (obviously not bananas or apples) but citrus and berries helps keep me regular... And my (almost) daily portion of weetabix :) - as they say "it keeps you going" Wink

Willyou I feel so sorry for you, my Mum keeps telling me that because she had bad heartburn I will also have bad heartburn... But no sign of it yet... I imagine it lurking round a corner to make me really uncomfortable any minute now.... Hope the gaviscon helps!

StateofConfusion · 03/08/2012 22:50

Enjoy your icandy honey I had the pear when it just came out for ds and dd (16mnth age gap) and loved it. Just so functional.

I've got my bugaboo for this one, need some new front wheels to make it look good as new. Can't wait to use it as a pram as I only used it as a stroller for dd.

I'm 20 weeks tomorrow GrinShock

utopian99 · 03/08/2012 23:29

bellaboo I'm.off to spa it up too! (only a day though)

jojo glad scan went well - do the hospital not tell anyone or did you not choose to know? If the crumb does genuinely turn out to be a boy i think we'll be team yellow next time, just for fun...

Builder has - almost - sorted everything, under my baleful glare, so we had homecooked supper for the first time in exactly a month. Sad how happy i am made by vegetables. (that sounds wrong)Blush

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 04/08/2012 05:02

Had some really weird dreams tonight, nearly shouted at DH coz I was hot an trying to put the fan on and he insisted on helping but it was making a weird noise and annoying me so I jumped down his throat and told him to make the noise stop or I'd punch it in s minute (I'm hoping I meant the fan but I could have meant DH tbh!!) Hmm

And now my stomach is rumbling but I refuse to get up for food, I'm too cosy. Trying to down enough water to make it stop.

I feel for those with heartburn it's awful, thankfully so far I haven't had if too bad (fingers crossed) but I know it will get worse Sad

SpottyTeacakes · 04/08/2012 06:26

Right off to town today with dd. will be buying fybogel and possibly prunes. Have a whole linnet of raspberries in the grudge that need eating too.

Heartburn is awful and Gaviscon is vile. Might try the new strawberry tablets they do.

Stacey I'm sure you're dh will forgive you Wink I get early morning hunger too time for some crumpets I think!

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 04/08/2012 06:35

Spotty the strawberry tablets taste less of strawberry and more of chalk tbh but I've never liked any heartburn stuff!

I love that your fruit is kept in a 'grudge' too Grin

Bloody braxton hicks plauging me this morning grrrrr!

SpottyTeacakes · 04/08/2012 06:50

Grin at grudge!

Hmm maybe go for the old mint tablets then.... Also going to get a yoga ball.

What are your Brixton hicks like? I only had tightenings and never pain until 34 weeks last time.

EggsMichelle · 04/08/2012 08:00

Stacey you have my sympathy! I stropped at DH yesterday cause I couldn't get the new stair gate up, he was very good and just hugged me!!!

After a month of peace and quiet, my neighbours have been playing their trashy dance music full blast since 8pm yesterday, I HATE THEM!!!

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 04/08/2012 08:28

My whole uterus just goes rock hard it doesn't hurt but isn't comfortable iykwim?!

eggs I stripped at not being able to put up ds's new black out blind. I walked out. DH (who bless him I'd not 'handy') tried his best but it's definately a bodge job Grin

EggsMichelle · 04/08/2012 09:01

My DH is also not a handy man (although very successful with light fittings!) so the tool kits and drills are mine. My abdomen goes very hard and tight, I assumed it was bloat.

CODwidow · 04/08/2012 09:28

I also get braxton hicks already especially if I've had a busy day, much earlier than before.

I'm being ridiculously lucky this time round I think, since 16 weeks I've felt really well no pelvic pain or mood swings. (although now I've said that they'll return ) or I'll suffer badly in the last couple of times.

kate2boysandabump · 04/08/2012 09:39

Wow!! What a busy few days!

Had our scan yesterday and it was fantastic! The bed had a screen over it, which there wasn't when I had the last 2 and the sonographer talked us through everything she was doing and looking for and everything was as it should be. I was so happy I cried, I'd got myself in a right state beforehand. Baby is a little bigger then average, but with my history no surprise, very long legs like ds2 had Grin We are another for team.........BLUE!!! We are very pleased our lovely boys will be having a baby brother. We've decided not to tell anyone that we know what our baby is, so you are very priviliged Grin We managed not to let it out last time. We have a name picked out and I want this for my new little fella.

My mum was discharged yesterday Smile We went to visit before our scan and again after and then she was discharged in the early evening, very happy about that.

The Olympics was amazing! We only saw one GB silver medal, but the GB crews won all the semis we saw, so watch out for those finals today!

Great news about all the other scans Smile

You're all so organised with your ML plans. I only work on supply, so I'll stop when I've had enough. I think I'm only going to do half days after the holidays . Clarella Check the sick leave rules for teaching, when I had ds1 in 2003, it was 34 weeks and your leave was started automatically, but when I had ds2 in 2005 it was up to 36 weeks. I think I'm entitled to maternity allowance, but have no idea how to go about claiming it Blush

Hope everyone is feeling well, feeling lots of kicks and getting some sleep Smile

kate2boysandabump · 04/08/2012 09:41

I'm also getting Braxton Hicks and have been for awhile, earlier than before. They don't hurt, just feel a bit weird.

Forgot to say, the midwife was right, my placenta is anterior. It goes all the way across the front near the bottom, so that's why I can only feel kicks further up. If I lie still I can see t

kate2boysandabump · 04/08/2012 09:44

oops Blush As I was saying, if I lie still I can see the pule making my tummy move. It looks really odd.

I also had to have a diabetes test, as I've got a history of big babies and a higher than should be BMI Blush Hope it turns out OK.

MyDaydream · 04/08/2012 10:16

Eggs feel for you with the neighbours. We're the middle of three houses and every weekend one of our neighbours is out in the garden cutting stone, and they're both obsessive gardeners. We don't get to sleep later than 9am and it goes on all day.
Kate There's the info on Maternity Allowance to see if you can get it and how to apply.

HoneyMum21 · 04/08/2012 12:08

Morning all! I'm feeling somewhat less knackered as have just managed to get out of bed and have a shower after packing DH off for his last day at his horrid job this morning. [slightly guilty but quite happy at having had a lovely lie in emoticon] got his leaving drinks tonight so I shall showy face for one I think.

This is prob a stupid question, but as a first timer - what do Braxton hicks feel like?

Bump has been having some kind of athletics tournament on his own this morning. We're off to have some breakfast now! Hope all have a good saturday

SpottyTeacakes · 04/08/2012 12:12

See I thought my uterus was going hard (like previous bh) but thought it was too early? Obviously not!

Hope the GD test goes ok kate

SpottyTeacakes · 04/08/2012 12:13

Honey it's different for everyone but at this stage it's just like your uterus goes really hard. Further along your whole bump goes really hard/tight. And after that some people can get really painful ones Smile

HoneyMum21 · 04/08/2012 12:35

Thanks spotty :) I've been getting the really hard uterus but didn't realise that was what it might be! I've only ever heard about bh in the painful context!

Bubbless · 04/08/2012 13:43

spotty try asking for movicol instead of lactulose, its not as well known but my mum uses it all the time and it works very well for her!!

jojo glad your scan went well!

kate* glad the scan went well, and congrats on team blue! i cant WAIT to find out now!!
i assumed that maternity allowance was claimed through work?!

is hard and tight the same things? (sounds so stupid!) my belly will sometimes feel like its bursting out of its skin and its horrible and tight.. not sure what it is, but didnt think braxton hicks!

Barbeasty · 04/08/2012 14:00

jojo we were being told it's about 3 months lead time for icandy at the moment, but some bits are coming in quicker. But I guess that means ordering towards the end of the month. Time to make my mind up.

Honestly, it is only 3s that bad things happen in isn't it? We went to get DD some new shoes this morning, and the lovely shop we've always used for her was empty. Not even a sign saying they've closed it moved. That has to be the end of my shopping disasters!
