Thread 3; go!

Hello - finally joining this thread after lurking forever. I'm 40, and after an early MC last year, thought I would never get another BFP. It finally happened, after a nice holiday, while the GP was doing busy referring us for infertility investigations...

Lots of holidays coming up Smile - great to see a lot of us are taking advatange of time with DH, DP and existing DCs before the new arrivals.

Just got back from our scan, which was lovely. Sonographer was wonderful and the baby was bouncing around and kicking like crazy. Got a great little photo and everything was within the right ranges etc. no signs of any anolomolies! Whoo hooo.....very excited Grin.

SquealyB · 10/09/2012 11:35

allchick - I would try not to worry about it, my "down days" are definitely being exacerbated by hormones at the moment and I am sure it will pass. All of the babies will be here sooner than we know it....Christmas is not that far away now and then we are in the home stretch.

Brugmansia · 10/09/2012 11:52

I've definitely had "down days" made worse at the moment. I've had a few work problems recently and really did not want to go back after my holiday a few weeks ago. I had a couple of days when I had to retreat to the disabled loo for a bit of a cry. On the other hand, I find it rather alarming that I only have just over 3 months left at work - I will be finishing at Christmas.

CreepyCrawly · 10/09/2012 12:03

Lovely scan news Squealy! Its so strange to see them all big now isn't it? My latest photo is terrifying though! I can't work it out properly!

I've had down days too. I actually thought I was getting ante-natal depression last week, I just couldn't stop crying. I have two weeks off work now so having some relaxing time! Hope you feel better soon allchik x

It is frightening how quickly its coming isn't it Brugs. I'm finishing work on the 17th of December. Looking forward to having Christmas off!

Brugmansia · 10/09/2012 12:19

I think I will finish on 21st. Our office has a complete shut down over Christmas and I have at least 2 weeks' more holiday left for this year (our holiday year is April to March) to take before I start mat leave which I'll take immediately after Christmas. It works out quite well as I will have almost 6 weeks off before my EDD but still not actually start mat leave until quite near the end of January.

newbie6 · 10/09/2012 13:25

Hi all,

I am feeling massive now! Friends and co tell me I'm not but in my head I seem to wake up or get to the end of the day and think, good lord I have grown again :) I am also experiencing some discomfort albeit very mild when I change the side I am sleeping on at night. Actually, my sleep is horrendous, always wake up about 3 or 4am to pee and then take ages to get back to sleep and am conscious of every possible noise I can hear, including DH breathing which is annoying me - I'm a nightmare, ha ha!

Think I have now felt movement, like little bubbles so all very exciting. I've been told because I have an anterior placenta I probably won't feel kicks for a bit yet so the fact I'm feeling these bubble sensations is fab!

We bought our pram and nursery furniture at the weekend to celebrate our 20 week scan results and it is all suddenly feeling very real - yikes! Feel I need to go on a course on how to work out prams, build furniture and oh yes - how to look after a newborn!

Anyway - hope everyone else is okay and good to see all the scan results coming in now.

xx

pmgkt · 10/09/2012 14:16

Not baby related but I have just done my Christmas shopping, just need to wrap now!

Complicated24 · 10/09/2012 14:55

Hadn't logged on for a few days so just spent the last 20 minutes catching up with all your news. I struggled to tie up my trainers the other day as couldn't bend properly in middle! I too am now feeling some movement but not sure whether I am feeling it outside my tummy or just fluttery movements inside. Some of them are quite strong, especially after I have eaten. I have an anterior placenta so makes it harder to feel as much movement. It is I totally lovely and makes it all seem so much more real.

PixelCarrier and Birdies I too am struggling with sleep and restless legs. I get restless legs every time I sit down to watch TV in evenings but seems to be fine during the day. I bought a pregnancy pillow called DreamGenii www.dreamgenii.com/ from Amazon and found it really helps. I still need to get up several times a night to go to loo, but am sleeping much better in-between loo breaks. Read lots of reviews and some people love it others hate it. It is quite expensive (£39) but has made a huge difference for me.

Birdies I had my last midwife appt at 16 weeks and am seeing Consultant this week (23 weeks) and midwife next week (24 weeks). Think I will next see midwife at 28 weeks. My Consultant will decide when he next needs to see me on Friday and whether I should have another scan. I think I am getting extra appts though as I've lost 2 babies and fall into high risk category because of my age. I have been told I will be induced at 39 weeks. I have also been put on daily aspirin as my age puts me at risk of getting pre-eclampsia apparently.

AllChik I have good days and bad days and was a hormonal wreck and complete cow to DH over weekend. i thought he didn't fancy me anymore as I was pregnant and he said he did, but didn't always know how to react or respond to my changing moods. He has downloaded a Dad App to help understand me a bit better and has just sent me a gorgeous bouquet of flowers so am grinning from ear to ear. It's ages since he's done that so I must have been horrible. Poor DH!

allchik · 10/09/2012 15:04

Thanks everyone for your understanding...have actually had a good (but tiring) day at school....what is nice is that i have hundreds of teenagers beaming from ear to ear and asking me questions about the bub which is cute and makes me smile! theyre all treating me like Im made of cotton wool too....could get used to this!

Squealy yey about the scan! Its so amazing to see how much they have grown....how was ur picture??

pmgkt ur my hero!!! Uv done your shopping??? wowsers

Hope all is well with everyone else xxx

allchik · 10/09/2012 16:12

ps - another weird symptom that has started today....not being able to breathe as well!!! Have noticed when Im teaching that I get really out of breath....guessing my bump is starting to squish my lungs?xx

DoIgetastickerforthat · 10/09/2012 17:37

Yy allchik, chasing after DS3 today made me feel like and asthmatic 90year old. Also slipped in the kitchen on Saturday, it was hardly anything but I twisted to catch myself on the counter and felt a searing pain in my pubic bone, I'm now hobbling round l

DoIgetastickerforthat · 10/09/2012 17:49

Bloody iPhone!

Like a pregnant hippo! Buggerarions.

On the up side, I had my 20 week scan today and all looks good. I didn't get a picture as baby was all curled up and sort of kneeling on my stomach but did get a good look at the undercarriage and it seems we are joining team PINK! After three boys, it was a shock but a nice one (well for me and DS2 at least, DS1 is not convinced but he adores his baby girl cousin, so I'm sure he'll come round). I have another 2 growth scans booked in so will hopefully get a picky at one of those.

A girl explains the amount of feckin crying I've been doing. Holy
Kleenex I hope it stops soon as I may need a tearduct transplant at
this rate.

Could someone update my stats please? Cant do it on my phone. My new EDD is 16/01/13, I'm 36 and having a girl. Ya.

DoIgetastickerforthat · 10/09/2012 17:49

Ta, even.

SquealyB · 10/09/2012 18:22

Thanks all for the well wishes! Such a great day and got a great picture of our little one. From time to time I am just in awe of the whole pregnancy process... growing a life from a bundle of cells etc (she says getting teary as she types!).

Everyone is shopping in earnest it seems - pgmt I cannot believe you have done your CHRISTMAS shopping already.....that is amazingly organised.

Congrats on the scan doigetasticker - how exciting that you are expecting a girl! I am sure both of your DS will come around and spoil their little sister rotten.

Allchick and doiget hope you are feeling ok. Breathing issues are not fun at all, and I always get a bit panicky when I am struggling to breathe.

Pascha · 10/09/2012 18:32

I am getting DS's birthday out of the way this week and then I shall be internet shopping for christmas in earnest. NO WAY am I attempting any real life shopping after 1st October.

Tugstonia · 10/09/2012 19:07

Hi ladies, haven't been on in a while, lovely to read all the good scan news :) I've got my scan on Friday and can't wait to see my little bun again.

Haven't bought anything baby-related yet, let alone think about Christmas shopping!! V impressed pmgkt!

Allchik am also feeling breathless and getting rib pain - not fun. But am getting lots of wiggles now which is fab. Bun had a proper little boogie after yoga last night!

Have been feeling slightly depressed about my weight gain - about 1.5 stone so far... Doesn't help that everyone keeps telling me how "massive" I am. Quite scared about how humungous I'm going to end up! Anyone else piling it on?!

allchik · 10/09/2012 19:28

Ive put on 17pounds tugs Im eating fairly healthy food so Im not gonna stress too much...but sometimes I do get a "f*k!!!" moment imagining my size come crimbo!!eek!x

happyhow · 10/09/2012 21:18

Well news is finally filtering out about me amongst the pupils... They've all been too scared to ask!! My 6th yr class finally got it confirmed today so there was no teaching for 30 mins while they asked lots of random questions. I'm glad I can talk about it now though instead of just avoiding the subject.

preggofabulous · 11/09/2012 13:49

Allchik i just spent 3 hours freaking out waiting for the midwife to call me back, as this morning i couldn't breathe well at all. she said it sounded like a drop in blood pressure which then sparked a panic attack! ugh, not fun at all. spent most of morning in tears (im blaming hormones).

I cant wait to go on maternity leave. work is seriously stressing me out, prob cause i have to see my baby's father every day and we're not on speaking terms. feels like waiting out a jail sentence.

on lighter news, feeling lots of movement and kicking which is nice.

congrats on all the scans :-)

MrsMallard · 11/09/2012 14:34

I'm there with those of you having trouble sleeping through the night! I used to sleep so soundly throughout the night so it's come as quite a shock to me to be waking up at least twice a night because I'm uncomfotable and/or needing the loo. 5am seems to have become a regular time for me to have to go to the bathroom! I've bought a Theraline pillow to cuddle (much to my husband's amusement/bemusement) and it does seem to be helping, particularly in getting bump comfortable. I wasn't sure that I could justify the cost but it's definitely been worth it and it's also supposed to be helpful when breastfeeding so I should get plenty of use out of it. I've also been sitting on the sofa with it round me too and it particularly seems to help when my back is aching. There are lots of colour options for the cover too!

tugs, the pounds definitely seem to be clocking up at an alarming rate. I've found this interactive chart helpful so that I can keep an eye on my weight gain to make sure it doesn't suddenly start running away faster than it ought to! I'm trying to eat healthily but I have a horribly sweet tooth that craves cakes, biscuits and chocolate...

preggo, thinking of you - I hope you're feeling better and can have a relaxing evening to recover from the stresses of the day.

It's lovely to hear that everyone's scans have been going well. We had ours this morning and were so relieved to hear the lovely sonographer say that everything is normal. She talked us through what we were seeing as she carried out the checks, which was great. After much deliberation over the last few weeks we decided to find out what we're having and it's a girl! I'm so excited!

MrsMallard · 11/09/2012 14:55

In Bunty's absence I thought I'd update the list. I hope she's having a fab holiday! Apologies if I've missed anyone's update - just let me know and I'm happy to update it again.
