Thread 3; go!

Hello - finally joining this thread after lurking forever. I'm 40, and after an early MC last year, thought I would never get another BFP. It finally happened, after a nice holiday, while the GP was doing busy referring us for infertility investigations...

We're thinking about buying somewhere too. Have seen somewhere and have the mortgage ready to go (hubby self employed so we've had to do lots of hoop jumping). Just need to decide how cheeky an offer we'll put in and need to get a survey done as their home report has run out. We're planning on refurbishing the entire thing though and putting on a big extension. Nothing like taking it easy when you're pregnant...Wink

MamaMary · 07/09/2012 22:16

Birdies I just can't imagine I'll ever have a boy now, but I'll take what I'm given; SquealyB, yes great to be spared all the sports on TV!

happyhow glad you've found somewhere and well done for jumping through the hoops. DH and I both liked the house we saw tonight - it didn't have 'wow' factor but I don't think we can afford 'wow' factor. It's bigger than where we are now and has more bedrooms (and 2 bathrooms which I don't even feel is quite necessary). A big garden. It would need some work in due course but at the same time would be ready to move straight in if you could live with the carpets etc. But now DH is saying he just can't be bothered to start jumping through the very hoops you mention! I'm frustrated as we can't just stay where we are forever!

PricklyPickle · 07/09/2012 23:52

Mama it sounds like you and DH are going to spend the weekend debating the pros and cons of moving. Remember you're carrying his child and hence
start 5 points ahead on any argument.

We've got 6 viewings scheduled this
weekend, i'm not really feeling the fun of it at the mo.

happyhow · 08/09/2012 09:17

I've just felt baby move with my hand!!!! In stupidly excited by this. It kicked again for hubby too GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

CreepyCrawly · 08/09/2012 09:40

Very exciting happyhow! How many weeks are you? I'm never sure if I can feel her from the outside or if it's just because I know she's moving, DH hasn't felt her yet.

Is anyone else finding it a struggle to get socks on? Blush My right foot is fine, I just can't get into a comfortable position to get my left sock on!

happyhow · 08/09/2012 10:17

I'm 22+5. It's the first time I've felt it on the outside.

I'm not having too many problems with socks but because I'm having issues with my hips, I need to sit down to get dressed now. It's really painful to balance on one leg. I keep forgetting at night though and tend just to put up with the pain to get in my jammies.

Pascha · 08/09/2012 12:31

No sock problems yet but I am getting mild sciatica down my right leg if I sit upright in any one position for too long.

Its lovely when you really feel the kicks and rolls properly isn't it Grin?

Brugmansia · 08/09/2012 14:21

Finally had my second MW appointment (at 19+3). One advantage of the delay was no problem finding the heartbeat. It was really clear and she could hear a kick too at one point :-).

Hormonalhell · 08/09/2012 15:47

Just adding myself, hope I've done it right

PixelCarrier · 08/09/2012 16:05

Hope everyone off on holiday is having a good break. We were supposed to be off on our "babymoon" on Friday, but now have a family funeral, so it's all a bit up in the air.

Great to hear about the kicks, happy. I'm not sure when we're supposed to start feeling kicks from outside. DH can't feel them, but I can, and also notice them when my bladder is the target!

Can still mange socks and shoes and things, but had to be pulled up of the sofa last night as couldn't quite manage to get myself in the right position to stand up.

Brugmansia - always love hearing the heartbeat! It's so reassuring. A friend of mine got hold of one of the Doppler monitor things, ao she could listen at home, but I don't think I'll go that far.

Sorry about the sciatica, Pascha, that sucks. I'm in denial about the pain in my right buttock after sitting too long - don't want to admit that it might be developing into sciatica...

How're all the house hunting/ viewing/ moving discussions going?

Pascha · 08/09/2012 16:59

Ah thanks. Its not too bad really, just more noticeable on long car journeys. I'm glad we're not moving house right now. I have zero energy again. As it is we are having to swap the bathroom and the third bedroom around because its not even big enough to get a full size cot into. Thats enough stress for me.

Next MW appt is next friday when I shall be seriously discussing home birth.

Brugmansia · 08/09/2012 17:17

We're not moving but if all goes to plan will be starting major building work shortly. We're waiting for planning permission and when we have that will be doing a loft extension. I just hope the main work will be done by Christmas. Once that is done we'll have a new bathroom so will be moving the kitchen to where the current bathroom is. At least we well have the existing kitchen to use until the new one is finished.

CreepyCrawly · 08/09/2012 17:23

We're in the middle of a loft conversion too. We can manage 2 bedrooms and a bathroom up there, our house is quite big but it's a stupid layout because it used to be a restaurant. We currently have one bedroom and 2 bathrooms!

We went to tesco this afternoon, and I asked DH if he wanted to look at the baby clothes. He said "no, I want to get cool stuff off the Internet. I don't want my baby dressed like everyone else's!" He then proceeded to buy a baby grow and some hungry caterpillar pyjamas. Bless him!

strawberrybubblegum · 08/09/2012 18:07

I'm with you on the lack of energy, Pascha - I think my 2nd trimester energy boost lasted about 4 weeks. Hoping it's a growth spurt (and hoping that's also why the scales have suddenly shot up!)

allchik · 08/09/2012 20:37

Yeeeey!happy i felt it from t outside for t first time on Thurs, then hubby felt it yesterday!we both cried lol! Ur due day after me too hehe!so exciting!
My belly rug is really taking off...may get it braided lol!
My only symptom at the mo is weird half burp type things ALL the time, which is a bit cringe as a secondary school teacher!
Love to everyone...were past/passing t halfway point eeeeek!x x x

PixelCarrier · 09/09/2012 05:59

Anyone else struggling to sleep? I keep waking up at silly o'clock in the morning, and then can't get comfortable enough to go back to sleep. Especially annoying when it's the weekend, and I could be enjoying my last few months of opportunities for a lie in for the next few years!

BadgerFace · 09/09/2012 08:08

Pixel I'm with you on the bad sleeping front! I've not managed more than 3 hours straight without waking up since March (when i started fertility drugs) and am regularily awake at 5am - it's been by far my biggest symptom of pregnancy! Still, at least at the weekends there is a small chance on a mid-afternoon nap so might try that later...

allchick I think I have something similar to your half burp - each day i seem to do one loud hiccup out of nowhere and then that's it. Weird! Thankfully thus far it's only been when I'm on my own or with DH but am bound to have an audience at some point soon...

We're off on our pre-babymoon to Greece next Saturday so the countdown has begun!

happyhow · 09/09/2012 09:31

I'm struggling to sleep because of my pelvis. Every time I want to turn over, I wake up because it hurts so much. Sad The doctor has told me to start taking the full daily dose of paracetamol though to see if that helps.

Anyone else buying one of those dream genii maternity pillows? One of my friends loved hers so going to try and get one today to see if it helps with the sleeping.

salt1 · 09/09/2012 09:55

i am waking early too, woke at 6.50 this morning - this is now considered a lie in x

allchik · 09/09/2012 09:59

Yup,up at 5.30...sucks :(

godzookey · 09/09/2012 11:42

Morning All,
Thought I'd check in - we're off on a mini break tomorrow, up to Windermere, our first UK break. I am usually a real beach queen but just can't face the thought of heat at the moment or looking 'mahoosive' on the beach so thought some nice long, albeit gentle mooches around Windermere would be a good alternative (as long as DH and I don't kill each other in the car on the way up there - he refuses to contemplate getting a sat nav so it's print outs of the AA route master all way the way)

Hope everyone has a good week and will check in when i'm back

x

Pascha · 09/09/2012 13:50

We did the Lake district with DS aged 5.5 months last year. The AA routeplanner said 5 hours. It took 9 and a half Hmm.

Birdies · 09/09/2012 15:13

We're off to Windermere in a week!

I'm not doing too bad on the sleep front except needing a wee a few times a night. Oh and restless arms and legs. Erm, oh and and cuddling DD once or twice in the night! I'm not working though so don't usually have anything too important the next day.

Do any of the 2nd time or more mums know how many midwife apmts you're meant to have? I last saw mine at 20 weeks and next time will be 28 weeks when I have to have anti D jab. That seems quite a long gap?

allchik · 10/09/2012 07:40

Well ladies,Ive spent last nite then this morn feelin quite low :( really had 'the dread' bout going bk to wrk, which is weird as had a lovely first wk bk at school.
