Thread 3; go!

Hello - finally joining this thread after lurking forever. I'm 40, and after an early MC last year, thought I would never get another BFP. It finally happened, after a nice holiday, while the GP was doing busy referring us for infertility investigations...

Hormonalhell Hope you are feeling better now. Can braxton hicks start this early?

allchik Is it possible you could develop allergies to things like seafood when pregnant?

I am feeling a bit worried for the first time. I just don't really have a bump. This is my 2nd child (ds1 was 7 yrs ago tho so can't quite remember when I started to show) and I am bigger than my normal tummy, but to most people I really don't look pregnant. Everyone I meet seems to comment on this when I tell them I'm pregnant. God, the commenting of a baby bump! I have scan this week so that will put my mind at rest as to whether the baby is a good size, I guess.

DoIgetastickerforthat · 02/09/2012 14:54

Katolla - it's eight years since I had my DS at UCLH but they did tell us the sex, I doubt they have changed their policy. Good luck with your scan.

pmgkt · 02/09/2012 15:45

Bealos try not to worry, people all change a different rates so don't compare. Plus my stomach was only stretched 2 years ago and I had done nothing to tone it back up. 7 years ago for you so your stomach maybe more able to keep it tight.

theboutiquemummy · 03/09/2012 10:14

Happyhow so glad they have stopped I get the odd one but midwife says they can start anywhere from 18 weeks x

theboutiquemummy · 03/09/2012 10:16

allchik big hugs you will feel much better when wed has come n gone

I didn't realise we could eat seafood I thought it was on the No list ?

theboutiquemummy · 03/09/2012 10:41

Quick essential pregnant mummy list thought it was quite good

octanegirl · 03/09/2012 14:08

Is it just me or does that link not work boutique?

katolla · 03/09/2012 14:47

DoIgetastickerforthat thank you! I hope not, we'd like to know!

SquealyB · 03/09/2012 15:01

octane yep - the link didn't work when I clicked on it but did when I copy and pasted into browser so you may want to try that.

Got to hear the heartbeat again today which was nice as had an appointment with the consultant. Just as well as otherwise it was a total waste of time. Was referred as my BMI was just over 30 and consultant took one look at me and asked "why are you here?" (would have thought he might know Wink). I explained and he said it was a pain but just routine to ensure that they cover off everything (even if your BMI is 30.5 you still need to be seen) and was really for those with very high BMI's who may have trouble being put onto a trolley or getting out of birthing pool etc. Which was reassuring but still a bit of a waste of time. Thanks goodness work are being nice about ante-natal appointments etc.

Scan next Monday......since hearing the heartbeat this morning feel much calmer about this as had been stressing that something had happened to the baby. I know that does not rule out other anomoloies but was comforting all the same.

Any scans today ladies?

happyhow · 03/09/2012 17:28

Well I've developed SPD over the last few days. Sad It's bloody sore!! Considering this is the first 'symptom' I've had (now 22 weeks), I think I've done pretty well... Phoned the midwife this morning but she hasn't phoned back. If I don't hear from her tomorrow I'm going to make an appointment with the doc I think.

The pain won't stop me making a chocolate beetroot cake tonight though Grin! We had beetroot left over from an experiment in school so thought I'd try putting it in a cake so it wasn't wasted.

theboutiquemummy · 03/09/2012 20:45

Sorry about the link not a clue will try when I'm on the computer

happyhow what's SPD ?

happyhow · 03/09/2012 20:52

Symphysis pubis dysfunction. It's where all the ligaments around the pelvis are relaxing and it's beginning to widen. It's very sore but not much they can do til the baby is born. Sad I've got very localised pain in my pubic area so it's not as bad as others I know (yet...) but it makes walking harder and standing up from a sitting position - especially in the evening - is fucking agony! You just have to be very careful with everyday activities like getting in and out the car.

On the plus side, hubby is doing more to help!!

theboutiquemummy · 03/09/2012 22:12

Oh shit happyhow big hugs that sounds crap had a busted coccyx one couldn't pooh or get up from sitting it was bloody horrible x

BadgerFace · 04/09/2012 08:43

After being convinced I was having a boy (based purely on the old wivestale of having no morning sickness), it turns out that Baby Badger is team pink!

Scan went well which is a relief although she is measuring top 95% for head and abdomen size. The consultant said it was nothing to worry about, it's just probably that she's going to be a big baby - ouch!

SquealyB · 04/09/2012 16:21

Well at least you know for certain now badger and glad to hear the scan went well.

Happy SPD sounds pretty dreadful. Hope you manage to get it under control.

Finally bought some maternity clothes as other stuff is just not fitting at all now. I generally feel a lot more comfortable now!

PixelCarrier · 04/09/2012 17:05

Can I join this thread? I've only just joined mumsnet, so not sure how things work!

I'm due on the 13th Jan, and STILL vomiting! Is anyone else out there still throwing up?

Lora1982 · 04/09/2012 18:05

pixel im not pukin but the feeling like i want to feeling has returned.... im half convinced its the vitamins though.

preggofabulous · 04/09/2012 18:21

Hi all, not posted for awhile, but been popping in to keep up with you all :-)

Had my 20wk scan today and everything was brilliant. And having been convinced it was a girl, turns out baby is team blue! :-)

BadgerFace · 04/09/2012 18:30

Ha, Preggo am glad I was not the only one proved wrong this week!

I am excited to start thinking about names now... Grin Still finding it hard to believe there is actually something (something? SomeONE!) growing inside me so am hoping that calling her she and her instead of it will help make it more believable...

octanegirl · 04/09/2012 18:31

happyhow - how did that Beetroot cake go down...?
I'm about to book my place on a local NCT course in late October. It's all getting a bit close. Eek! Still not bought a single thing....

happyhow · 04/09/2012 18:52

I was too tired and sore to make it last night in the end. It's currently in the oven though and the uncooked mixture is yummy!!! It smells amazing too... Very easy to make so hoping it tastes as good baked GrinGrin

theboutiquemummy · 04/09/2012 19:01

Ooh morning sickness is back n im not the only one it's so blooming annoying Sad

On a plus note brought some over the bump leggings from Asda of all places n they are fantastic n really thick DH couldn't complain because they were only £6 per pair so I brought a few !!

Was shocked in baby world yesterday the lady said I need to order my travel system at soon as because they can take months to arrive anyone else heard this ? It reminds me of the wedding dress nonsense Angry was she scamming us ?

Hubby has decided he now likes the ICandy peach we are both quite tall but I made a fuss of an old fashioned silvercross just to see his face Grin it was huge

theboutiquemummy · 04/09/2012 19:03

Happyhow that sounds delish how are you feeling today ?

Congrats on all the positive scan news is it equal numbers for team blue n pink ?

Birdies · 04/09/2012 19:22

Great news re scans. Welcome pixel

Ooh boutique I need some leggings I will check them out (as my current ones have embarrassingly split at the thighs!!)

Oh yes the wedding dress palaver- "so when do I need to order by?" "yesterday". Bollocks! Two months later I ordered mine. Surprised about a travel system - I've heard 6 weeks if not in stock not 4 months!!

preggofabulous · 04/09/2012 19:29

Badgerface its taking some readjustment. Had a name and everything for a girl. I'm lost when it comes to boys!

Agree with the whole 'it' thing. Seems more like a little person now its 'him'.
