Thread 3; go!

Hello - finally joining this thread after lurking forever. I'm 40, and after an early MC last year, thought I would never get another BFP. It finally happened, after a nice holiday, while the GP was doing busy referring us for infertility investigations...

We're having a girl and had chosen the name before we got married (don't ask lol) but then my husband decided to tell his entire office and the majority of them basically told him it was a rubbish name so now he wants to change it!!! So annoying!!!

^This is exactly why we are not revealing names to anyone. At all. Especially not my mother, oh no!

7 months Shock My friend had proper week-long periods all the way through her second pregnancy but even she knew by 10 weeks. Mind you, it was obvious with her by the amount of vomiting she did.

happyhow · 31/08/2012 16:15

I like Freya bras too.

I told my best friend some of the names we were thinking of and she said one of them sounded like a planet... Sad I would still use it though but she would tell everyone what she thought and I think it would stick Sad I wasn't going to tell her for the very reason that people will give their opinions if you tell them but when the child is physically there and has been named, they just accept it. I should've listened to my gut feeling.

woody2313 · 31/08/2012 16:27

Well, we're just back from the 20 week scan and relieved to say that everything was normal - looking good and healthy Smile We had decided that we didn't want to know the sex but she didn't even ask; she didn't hover over 'the area' for clues either! We also found out that I have an anterior placenta which is why I haven't felt much movement yet. So relieved!

Birdies · 31/08/2012 17:42

Thanks for the bra advice ladies, I'm going to spend a bit more this time.

octane meant to say that I had a baby shower with DD1, it was fun!

woody good news re scan!

I'm not telling anyone names either, I know some people won't like the name I choose but if everyone did then we'd all be called the same thing! But I would still be influenced by someone saying something negative about the name before baby is here so I'm keeping quiet.

mrsbugsywugsy · 31/08/2012 18:05

I agree about not telling people our name ideas, well actually I've told a couple of friends who I trust to be polite. Which means definitely not family Grin

there's a whole thread going on about bra sizes, I'll see if I can find it and link to it

here it is

Birdies · 31/08/2012 18:43

Thanks bugsy I will have a look

Lora1982 · 31/08/2012 20:11

How depressing. i had to go shopping cos im at a wedding tomorrow and i looked awful and massive in everything. On a plus though i got some smart jeans but i dont think i can wear them but at least i wont hafto stick with leggings til d-day anymore!

SquealyB · 31/08/2012 20:32

Lora I had the same issue. Going to a black tie wedding on 14 September and everything I owe looks dreadful. Went for something New Look in the end and am waiting for it to be delivered.

On a very depressing note I am still at work, it is 8.30 on a Friday and I am 19 weeks pregnant and this particular partner knows I am pregnant and still expects me to be available for a conference call at 11 this evening! Argh Angry

Bunny222 · 31/08/2012 21:41

squealyB that is rubbish for you! Hope you are out of work now.

I've got a couple of formal dos coming up and found the sale on the seraphine website really good.

Had our scan yesterday, all went fine, such a relief. We didn't find out the sex, want a surprise. Forced my pictures on everyone at work today!

mulan07 · 31/08/2012 22:30

All went well at scan today, SO relieved. It's a boy! :)

DollFisher · 01/09/2012 08:46

Thanks for the reassurance on bleeding mrsbugsywugsy!
Haha to sex or bug poo! That made me laugh :)

Re names I agree with you all. I chose another name which my husband liked but AGAIN he proceeded to tell everyone he knows! He has such a big mouth!
Anyway I've told him that's it now we're sticking with it lol

Re bras I'm still wearing my underwear bras from m and s but I also got one from Hot Milk (new via eBay) which looks pretty but seems to emphasise the fact that one of my boobs is 32F and the other could quite possibly be a 32G :s

Yay to all the latest scans! Also thanks for all th earlier pram advice I'm quite tall and have occasional back issues so may go with the Stokke Xplory but second hand as cant justify a grand plus on a pushchair!

DollFisher · 01/09/2012 08:47

OMGosh did that post actually make sense??

*big as in big poo not bug!
*underwire as in underwire bras!

And I call myself an editor haha

BuntyCollocks · 01/09/2012 09:19

Congrats on all the lovely scans!

doll - check out back in action. They do the xplorys and aren't too expensive. If you google you can get them cheaper as well. I have the xplory evo (newest model) and 2 years ago my parents paid about £700 for the whole package including carrycot.

OP posts:
BuntyCollocks · 01/09/2012 09:21

Oh, kiddicare have it for £725 ATM. To be honest: I wouldn't bother with carrycot if it's not included in price. The normal seat unit is suitable from birth anyway.

Pascha · 01/09/2012 10:48

Quite a few Stokke's on ebay for around £250-£350 mark.

Nice to hear about everyone's scan results Smile

I have a wedding on 29th Sept. ATM I'm considering wearing my summer maxidress with a long wrap and silver ballet flats. I don't want to buy something I'm never going to wear again.

bealos · 01/09/2012 11:06

2 pasha that outfit sounds great! If anyone else has any weddings, take a look at ebay, here's some Topshop nice ones:

I'm not on the list yet! But I am very coy and not telling anyone my due date as I think (from ds1 experience) it's too easy to get fixated on it and then be all miserable when you are 'overdue'. A due 'window' would be my preference! My baby could come any time in Jan or beg Feb, I reckon. I have a scan next week so you can probably figure it out though! So I would be:
Bealos (34) DC2 Jan/Feb scan 05/09/12

Pascha · 01/09/2012 11:17

Might have a look at some of those. I tell myself its a due window as well. I'm banking on Widget being early and arriving around 15 Dec. I expect it will be nearer 15 Jan though.

Birdies · 01/09/2012 13:35

Great that everyone's having nice scan experiences!

Anyone where this is your DC2 or more - have you thought about car seats? I'm overwhelmed by the choice and can't decide what to go for. DD1 is just over a year old and ready to move to the next size up but I'm also wondering if I should get one for DHs car too seeing as eventually we will need two bigger ones for both babbas anyway. So - yesterday was bra advice, today is car seats!!

bealos · 01/09/2012 13:56

I'd love to know too - what's the cheapest, but obviously excellent, car seat I can buy for the wee one.

Hormonalhell · 01/09/2012 14:56

Hi all not been here for awhile as my internet been down.

Been for my 20 week scan - another one for team blue Smile was convinced i was having a girl though!!

Was admitted into hospital after my scan as been having pain which turned to contractions Shock was very scared especially when the lovely doctor informed me that as I was only 20 weeks they would do nothing to stop the labour or save my baby Angry

Fortunately though the pains have subsided now, i am home from hospital and baby is fine Smile

They havent got to the bottom of it yet Hmm but think it may be water infection which is on my notes as both my children were born prematurely due to water infections.

happyhow · 01/09/2012 15:05

Glad your contractions have stopped and all is well again. Must have been scary though. Xx

Hormonalhell · 01/09/2012 15:12

Yes very scary Happyhow just glad they've stopped now.

katolla · 01/09/2012 18:31

Does anyone know if UCH will tell you the sex please? Our scan is Thursday week, there's nothing on their website and I've been telling people were going to find out so they're all waiting to hear..

allchik · 01/09/2012 20:47

hormonalhell oh bless you!!! How bloody scary! Glad ll is ok now xxx

I have spent the last week in 'sunny' Cornwall, on the last night I had a seafood curry......then spent all night puking (and the rest) with horrific tummy cramps....in the morning I was in a right tiz....no movement from baby so was adamant I had damaged it....ended up in a local docs for them to check all was well (which it was!!),,,,think Im feeling a bit anxious at the moment as this coming Wednesday would of been my due date had I not had my mmc in Feb :( (sorry to be so gloomy) Think its bringing back all my worries.

Just want the baby here now!!

Hope all is well with everyone else xxx

SquealyB · 01/09/2012 23:26

Hormonal that must have been terrifying. Glad it is all ok.

allchick sounds like you have had a rough time of it too. Hard not to think about your mmc but at least you know everything is going ok so far with this pregnancy.
