Thread 3; go!

Hello - finally joining this thread after lurking forever. I'm 40, and after an early MC last year, thought I would never get another BFP. It finally happened, after a nice holiday, while the GP was doing busy referring us for infertility investigations...

I also had heartburn last night and was quite uncomfortable but it's not bad enough - yet - to go to GP. It's still here today but milder.

I find that heartburn can be really bad during sex Blush which puts a bit of a dampener on things.

RE bras - I'm still squeezing into my normal ones even though my boobs have got bigger. If like last time, they'll get even bigger in the next couple of months.

katolla · 30/08/2012 12:04

@Pascha and other asthma people, is it ok to go on becotide? I'm already doing beconase, same thing but for my nose. If it's just one or the other, I'd rather be able to breathe through my nose at night, even if it's just little wheezy breaths :)

mrsbugsywugsy · 30/08/2012 12:26

katolla I'm not sure as I'm on ventolin and seretide, maybe best to check with the doctor

Pascha · 30/08/2012 12:33

Hmm. Deffo ok to take becotide as the steroid is localised to your lungs. Whether or not its fine to take beconase as well I don't know. I would take easy breathing over stuffy nose any day personally, depends how much it affects you I suppose.

godzookey · 30/08/2012 16:10

Afternoon Ladies,

So I can now confirm, I'm having a boy!! The sonographer even blushed a little when she pointed out his 'bits'

Have just gone on crazy splurge on blue stuff in MotherCare to celebrate!

BuntyCollocks · 30/08/2012 16:32

Congrats, godzookey! Boys are wonderful!

Congrats godz and no doubt the shopping was a lot of fun!

We have not bought many clothes yet as we are focusing on the "boring" stuff first, this month's incredibly interesting purchases were breast pump, bottles and sterilizer. No where near as exciting as cute little outfits!

happyhow · 30/08/2012 16:43

We're still not buying anything.... I'm making a list though!! Smile

Afternoon ladies. Congrats Godz how lovely for you, plus its always nice to have an excuse to go shopping.

I went to the docs this morning armed with a pot of pee. He confirmed I've got a mild UTI and gave me some antibiotics. I was quite relieved that i do actually have one as i don't feel like a prat for going!

theboutiquemummy · 30/08/2012 18:27

Pricklypickle at least you know what it is you'll be as right as rain in no time

Just back from the scan little bugger wouldn't open it's legs I'm convinced it's a boy though

Looks like it will be a Caesarian for me little bit disappointed but healthy baby is all that matters now

How's everyone doing ?

What are you doing for a winter coat ?

theboutiquemummy · 30/08/2012 18:29

Congrats Godzookey on team blue Wink are we due the same time I'm 20 + 6 EDD 17/01

happyhow · 30/08/2012 18:47

I got a lovely winter coat on yummymmy.com. It's a black woollen one which is really stylish and cozy. It was in the sale too which is always a bonus!

I've been finding it quite funny at school - I've had a few pupils looking at my stomach wondering but none of them have said anything yet. I look pregnant now, not just that I got fatter over the summer!! Grin

godzookey · 30/08/2012 19:22

Thanks everybody! Am v happy, felt kinda shell shocked earlier, it feels so real now!

Boutique great to hear from you, have been dying to know how you got on today - you're absolutely right, a healthy baby is the most important thing. We pretty much are - am due 14/01/13

Good luck to everyone with scans coming up xxx

pmgkt · 30/08/2012 19:33

Boutique, why a section I've forgotten

CreepyCrawly · 30/08/2012 20:29

Congratulations godzookey! And pleased your scan went well to boutique.

My husband has just left for his long weekend in Holland for the motocross. Monday can't come quick enough! As soon as he left, I came and sat down and spotted a huge spider crawling up the wall! Luckily, my brave pooch rescued me. Cruel I know, but I'm a big wuss Blush

Lora1982 · 30/08/2012 20:59

eee i felt kicking with my hand and instead of the wonderful beautiful warm feeling i freaked Grin

Birdies · 30/08/2012 22:58

Good news godzookey and boutique! Lora lol you'll get used to it!

Sorry to go back to the bra topic but mine is doing my head in. Some of you gave me some great advice before and I moved into my new bras. But the straps were digging into my shoulders so I loosened them and now looking down they look saggy again Confused. So to have pert boobs I have to put up with sore shoulders! Surely there's a comfy bra out there? Someone said you can still wear underwired ones but I thought you couldn't when pregnant?

Can I have recommendations again please cos I looked back and can't find them!

happyhow · 31/08/2012 07:36

You can wear underwired ones as long as they are fitted well. They usually say not to because if they don't fit well, they can interfere with the changing shape of your breasts and cause problems for developing milk ducts, cause blockages etc. I think it's called mastitis??? As long as they fit well it's not a problem. I hate non-underwired bras - I don't feel they support my ample bust size - so i'll be getting new underwired ones tomorrow if I can.

BuntyCollocks · 31/08/2012 07:37

birdies as long as its properly fitted, you can wear underwired bras.

It sounds like your band size is too large; all your support was coming from the straps. This is wrong. The support should come from the band.

I am a bit evangelical about properly fitted bras. Pop yourself along to either an independent shop or a bravissimo - somewhere that measures by eye and trying on rather than tape measure - and get new bras.

Be warned - it won't come cheap! My bras (Freya etc) are around £30 a pop, but my shape and uplift is amazing, and I never get soreness.

Also, it will feel a LOT tighter around the back than you're used to. This is normal. You get used to it and within a week it will feel comfortable. Until then you'll probably feel like you're being strangled!

I reckon you'll go down 1 or 2 band sizes and up a good couple of cups.

OP posts:
Birdies · 31/08/2012 10:07

Thanks happy and bunty.

bunty my band hurts me a bit as well - either feels too tight or rubs. The trouble is, I only bought these new bras the other day but wondering if boobs are just growing at too rapid a rate to keep buying more. Maybe I should wait until they reach maximum size?! It's funny cos I'm happy to spend a bomb on a cot and pram, but I go cheaper when it comes to bras. But I'm probably at the point now where I'm ready to spend more just to be comfy. I will try bravissimo and get measured properly - just gotta work out when so I don't end up buying a new one every couple of weeks.

Ps which is the most comfy bra you wear so I can make a note of the name?

Thanks
Complicated24 · 31/08/2012 11:37

Birdies I went to Bravissimo last week as my boobs had got even bigger. I was 34D before pregnancy and am now 34G. Really strange as thought my back size would have increased but according to Bravissimo it hasn't. I was literally falling out of the bras I bought at 12 week stage and it was not only uncomfortable but embarrassing. I restricted myself to buying just two bras from Bravissimo (white and black) as they are expensive and am expecting boobs to get even bigger, but they are so comfortable and I look a million times better. The shop assistants are fantastic too and make you feel a million dollars. The one I had kept on telling me to flaunt my new figure. I was feeling particularly fat and frumpy that day so I could have hugged her! Good luck.

DollFisher · 31/08/2012 13:18

Hello all and thanks for adding me to the list! I'm getting very excited reading all your comments and suggestions for names and things - makes it all seem so much more real!

I've been bleeding (lightly, although my periods are horrendously heavy so compared with that most things are light!) since Sunday on and off but heard the heartbeat on tuesday nice and strong and midwife not worried unless it gets heavier so staying positive!

Also met someone yday in Mothercare who told my friend and I that she found out she was pregnant two weeks ago and is SEVEN MONTHS pregnant!!! I couldn't believe it! Said she didn't really have any symptoms, had periods initially and then it was all a bit sporadic but she's irregular so thought nothing of it. I thought people were lying when they say stuff like this on TV haha guess not. Also funny what you feel free to say to strangers when you're pregnant lol...a bit like on here I guess!

octanegirl - my friends want to throw me a babyshower and it sounds like fun so going with it and its my first so excited to see how it goes! I have lots of friends from different parts of my life that don't get to mix often - old school friends, childhood friends, friends from Church, friends from church, friends of friends etc...so it will be nice :).

We're having a girl and had chosen the name before we got married (don't ask lol) but then my husband decided to tell his entire office and the majority of them basically told him it was a rubbish name so now he wants to change it!!! So annoying!!!

Happy Friday to you all sorry for the long post!
xx

BuntyCollocks · 31/08/2012 13:22

birdies am partial to a freya :)

OP posts:
mrsbugsywugsy · 31/08/2012 15:23

Birdies Freyas don't seem to fit me as well as panache so maybe try one of each? My comfiest (although not the prettiest) is their tango ii bra.

doll I've also had bits of bleeding every so often, been told it's probably my cervix and nothing to worry about (easier said than done) . Usually it happens after sex Blush or a big poo Blush Blush
