Thread 3; go!

Hello - finally joining this thread after lurking forever. I'm 40, and after an early MC last year, thought I would never get another BFP. It finally happened, after a nice holiday, while the GP was doing busy referring us for infertility investigations...

I appear to be Mrs Linky tonight Grin

happyhow · 21/08/2012 21:55

Why do you get told specifically to lie on your left hand side? Is it to do with circulation? I've been happy if I'm lying on either side but do wake up on my back quite a lot.

Pochemuchka · 21/08/2012 23:58

Thanks for the welcome BuntyCollocks :)
Congrats to all those with lovely scan news!

Can I be added to the list?
Pochemuchka (33) DC3 EDD 06.01.13 it's a surprise!

Thanks!

Talking about strange dreams - I had a dream that I was being chased by two tigers but Will.I.Am shot them both with poison so i escaped?! No idea what he was doing in my dream!
Worse than that though, I had a rather, ahem, racy dream the other night which involved one of my colleagues (who i harbour no feelings of attraction towards). Bloody hormones. Haven't been able to look him in the eye since. Thankfully he's now off on holiday for 2 weeks. Blush

Birdies - your dream sounds really scary. I had similar things happen (probably due to sleep deprivation) where I thought the DC had stopped breathing. :(

I have sort of been trying to sleep on my left side but I am co sleeping with my other DC and they both like me to cuddle them so I often end up on my back.

Goodness knows what I will do for sleeping arrangements when this one arrives!

octanegirl · 22/08/2012 08:01

Scan today! DP can't come so my sister is coming with me.

The lying on your left side thing is due to the vena cava that runs down your back - compressing this can cause lightheadedness and reduce circulation to the baby. But only a little. I often sleep on my back and don't think the world will end! But I suppose it might be more of an issue further down the line.

DollFisher · 22/08/2012 09:55

Hello everyone! Had my scan yesterday and so happy that everyone is fine for our first baby and we're having my DH's much-wanted little princess!
Please can I be added to the list?

DollFisher (28) DC1 EDD 5/01/13

hope that's right?

So excited that I can now start shopping although prams are giving me a headache and I keep getting press releases at work with new prams coming out so I get confused! Torn at the moment between a Hauck Eagle (husband saw and liked one near where we live), Quinny - I know I know they're heavy and wide and Bugaboo Bee - just plain expensive and not many on eBay at the moment!

This is going to sound really dumb but for those who wake up and can't get back to sleep (I have the same problem), have you tried putting on a lullaby???! Maybe in an iPod or mp3 player if your husband/partner would rather not listen?

x

DollFisher · 22/08/2012 09:55

I meant so happy that *everything is fine :)

l3mma · 22/08/2012 12:52

wondering when my lil lady is gonna give me a kick? Im 19 weeks on friday n getting inpatient x

octanegirl · 22/08/2012 13:03

Scan all fine. They had to upend me so I spent the whole time lying with my head quite a bit lower than my feet! He's quite happy in there but my placenta is low so I have to go back at 34 weeks. It's blocking the exit!

Birdies · 22/08/2012 13:16

Great news re scans!

octane were you the person who wanted a c-section? Not sure I've remembered that correctly but if so then you would automatically get one if placenta stays low!

Happy I slept most of last night on my back, I think it's only an issue if you start to feel dizzy, by which time you would know and change position anyway. I think lying on left is preferred to the right as better oxygen flow or something. And on the back is an issue cos of what someone said earlier. But only if you start feeling dizzy.

Brugmansia · 22/08/2012 13:22

Rather annoyed today. I was soused to have my MW appointment. She was coming to my house but didn't show up. I called after half an hour and she says she had to cancel as had been called to the hospital to assist with a birth over night. I appreciate they're stretched but am pissed off no one contacted me to let me know what was going on. I'm really busy at work too so could really have done with not being in 2 hours late today.

CreepyCrawly · 22/08/2012 13:22

More lovely news with the scans! So excited and terrified for outs a week today!

Last night, I had a mug of Horlicks before bed (because I'm actually 80) at about 10.30. Fell asleep and stayed asleep until 4:15! I don't think I moved either because I was a bit achey when I got up for the loo. I managed to get back to sleep eventually and woke up again at 9. Thank god for late starts! Feeling much better today, still tired but it's probably because there's still some catching up to do.

Hope everyone's well :)

CreepyCrawly · 22/08/2012 13:27

That's such a pain brug! I'm sure if it was the other way round and you had just cancelled without letting anyone know there'd be something said!

Brugmansia · 22/08/2012 13:40

It is a pain. The MW care here is based on you having the same midwife for ante-natal, birth and post-natal care. Sounds lovely in theory, particularly for birth. The problem is I guess that the birth part is a bit unpredictable and scuppers being able to deal with appointments for the other parts. You'd think they'd have a system in place for letting you know if there was a problem though. I'm on holiday then next week so won't be able to rearrange until the week after.

woody2313 · 22/08/2012 14:37

Please can I be added to the list BuntyCollocks?
Woody2313 (33) DC1 EDD 23/01/2013 scan 31/08/2012
Thank you!

At the moment I am struggling to control my stress levels - I'm a teacher and with Results Day tomorrow, I can't help but worry even though I know it is not doing bump any good. I wish I could just switch off Sad

godzookey · 22/08/2012 14:42

Afternoon All,
Would someone mind adding my scan date 30/08/12 - sharing a scan date with TheBoutique!

Most frustrating morning - REALLY was looking forward to arrival of new sofa and love seat, only bloody sofa would not fit through door so we have now been charged £130 to get the smaller size AND it'll be an 8 week wait. Now that old sofa was finally manoevered from living room, DH didnt want to put it back so now have a 'love seat' to sit on in the living room and that is it. AAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!

Ok - rant over, maybe should try and get back to work now!!!

allchik · 22/08/2012 21:02

Scan tomorrow - shitting myself!

Lora1982 · 22/08/2012 23:27

pffft no point saying dont worry... cos u will Grin and all the ppl around me.... well the two that came with me... were like 'your worrying over nothing' when ACTUALLY it was them who did the massive sighs of relief when the lady marked off each bit as fine! i was fine as soon as i saw the heart beating away... daft i know cos i knew baby was alive n well i could feel it moving but i was scared that all its insides had been created wrongly or mixed up!! Grin also she marked on the form that visual clarity may have been impared due to 'maternal habitus' i.e my fat. its a posh way of saying it.... might use it in the future ... have fun tomorrow!!

Lora1982 · 23/08/2012 06:42

also... i think its more relaxing now all the scans are done... theres going to be no nasty surprises so itl be easier to relax. like the feeling u get when u have finished your exams :) youl shit yourself right up until she says its fine.

allchik · 23/08/2012 08:05

Thanks Lora u know how I feel. Hubby doesnt really get t nerves as babies moving but Im just worried incase summit is wrong!
GCSE results day today,im gonna be more nervous than my yr 11s! Will be funny to see their faces when they clock my bump!x

theboutiquemummy · 23/08/2012 09:23

GodZookey are you nervous about it ? I'm getting really impatient x

newbie6 · 23/08/2012 15:04

I'm impatient too - 5th Sept seems ages away and don't know why but don't want to buy anything until we've been told all is okay at the 20week scan. Did relent and have bought some stuff for the baby but only nursery things, no clothes yet. Probably saving me money actually so shouldn't complain!

x

SquealyB · 23/08/2012 15:57

Great news on yesterdays scans. Allchick hope yours goes well.

My scan is not until 10 September which is so far away Sad. Wish I could just fast foward life a little (in fact I would fast forward to January if I could).

Funny how something so small can change your perspective on life. Pre-pregnancy was a bit of a workaholic.....now struggling to be bothered about it at all!! Hard to see how I am going to keep going until January. Anyone else feel the same?

newbie6 · 23/08/2012 16:32

Yes SquealyB - I feel exactly the same!

I have my own business and am a total workaholic and perfectionist but in the past few months I find myself daydreaming about my new impending arrival and work doesn't seem to important...then I wake up and realise I need my work to pay for baby :(

Hopefully I can find a happy balance, have taken someone on part time so hopefully once they settle in, I might actually get to have some mat leave, ha ha!

godzookey · 23/08/2012 17:42

Hey Boutique

I'm not nervous yet, just excited! Have told my first clients today that i was pregnant, the lady i told mentioned she hadn't even noticed so she must have just thought i was quite fat!!

To be honest, i only told her as she asked if i had kids, otherwise I won't just volunteer the information, at least not until after next Thursday.

What time's your scan -mine's at 4 - so got to wait ALL DAY!! & i'm not a patient person by nature at all!

pmgkt · 23/08/2012 21:44

No section for me, unless I want to appeal the consultants decision!
