Thread 3; go!

Hello - finally joining this thread after lurking forever. I'm 40, and after an early MC last year, thought I would never get another BFP. It finally happened, after a nice holiday, while the GP was doing busy referring us for infertility investigations...

Bunty - gold star for the list efforts. I am afraid of changing the list in case I bugger it up!

I am quiet at work too so have been colour coding my baby spreadsheet Blush

Sorry, the underlines seem to have gone, Bunty!

Thanks Mamamary!!

CreepyCrawly · 21/08/2012 16:45

Lovely news with the scans again! Is team blue winning now?

I think I'm going crazy now. This lack of sleep is doing me in. It's not the getting to sleep that's the problem. It's the waking up every morning between 3 and 4, and not being able to get back to sleep. My job is quite mentally draining and I'm really not coping. I'm crying constantly, snapping at DH all the time. I feel unloved and unwanted. I just feel so lonely and exhausted. Sorry to put this here, I just need to get it down :(

octanegirl · 21/08/2012 17:04

Don't worry Creepy I feel the same. DP never calls or texts when we aren't together which upsets me a great deal. Being awake in the small hours is horrid, my sympathies.

SquealyB · 21/08/2012 17:10

Creepy Thanks....you poor thing.

It is so rubbish when you feel like that. Have you any idea why you are waking up? Often it can be stress related and if that is the case maybe keep a note pad by your bed to write down the thing that is causing you to wake up. I have found that helps in the past.

If it helps at all, I feel the same a lot of the time. My tears over the past few days have been due to an overwhelming feeling of loneliness (despite wonderful DH, friends and family etc.). My parents live in Spain, my brothers live in Ireland and although I have lots of friends here they are busy a lot of the time so I rely a lot on DH and, like you, I have just been snapping at him and being so very mean to him. And then I cry about the fact that I am an awful b*tch to the one person who IS there for me. I also work in a very pressurised job and feel like I am not performing to my usual level.

I keep trying to remind myself that it is just the hormones and the tiredness and that these are not "real" feelings...but that is so hard sometimes.

CreepyCrawly · 21/08/2012 17:23

Thank you ladies. No idea why I'm waking up, but it's roundabout the same time every morning which is getting frustrating. My family live away too, only an hour but after work etc. I'm too tired to go see them.

I get the feeling DH is finding absolutely anything he can do to avoid spending time with me, which I know is stupid and not true. It doesn't help that his business opening hours are 8am-8pm every day throughout the summer holidays, which leaves little time for us to do anything. He's going away for a long weekend in a couple of weeks and I'm dreadng it. I am staying with my mum for a couple of the nights he's away though.

Ugh :(

ChutesTooNarrow · 21/08/2012 17:49

Just marking my place as this has dropped off my threads I'm on. I have a lot to read!

I love the idea of a see through tummy. I too have an anterior placenta but haven't felt any movements yet, so don't know what I'm missing. I can't wait til I feel first one. Now 20 week scan has gone smoothly I am actually allowing myself to get excited now and looking at baby clothes and prams. Actually I am like a mad woman with prams and babies and am checking out all prams to see if they would work for us and trying to guess age of baby inside pram. Luckily I now have a small bump so hope baby's parents understand the preghead mentality. DH thinks I have completely lost the plot!

happyhow · 21/08/2012 19:12

Our baby wouldn't behave at the scan yesterday and was very much in the mood of "I'm sleeping - piss off"! We got a really cute photo of the baby doing a thumbs up though after the sonographer got the final measurement! I've worked out that it was so sleepy due to me eating a red velvet cupcake at break time (red food colouring sends you hyper apparently) so it was doing somersaults during my fire safety training and had exhausted itself by the time of the scan!!!

Tugstonia · 21/08/2012 19:32

Congrats on all the lovely scan news! :)

Updating the list with my scan date and 13mma though don't know your age or which DC this is so please fill in the blanks!

I would LOVE a see-through tummy. Been trying to listen for heartbeat using my old fashioned stethoscope but haven't managed to yet. Tempted to buy a doppler for when I have a paranoid moment, has anyone got one and is it any good?

Complicated24 · 21/08/2012 19:54

Tugstonia I bought a doppler a couple of weeks ago (when 18 weeks) and love it. I got it from Amazon www.amazon.co.uk/Angelsounds-Fetal-Heart-Detector-Doppler/dp/B001NWDUE2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1345574981&sr=8-1. It was cheapest one but had good reviews. I can find baby's heartbeat really quickly now.

Has anyone bought a maternity pillow? I am having problems sleeping and am waking up about 5 times a night. Combination of growing bump as well as hot weather I think. Am thinking about buying DreamGenii one www.amazon.co.uk/DreamGenii-Maternity-Support-Pillow/dp/B000UTPIW6/ref=sr_1_1?s=baby&ie=UTF8&qid=1345575108&sr=1-1. It has mixed reviews but haven't bound a maternity pillow which hasn't. Recommendations welcome as badly need a good night's sleep.

Pascha · 21/08/2012 20:13

I would love a doppler. Trying to justify it to myself though, so many things I want to buy! My imaginary list now includes a countdown clock to the exact day/time the Widget will be born. I am having so much trouble with all the unknowns. I want to know when and how and I want to know now damnit!!!

I am so impatient. There is no way on earth I could have opted to not find out the sex.

My real list of wants now includes:

Sheepskin liner for the buggy/carseat
Bednest Yes Birdies I may be converted Wink
Wallaboo baby wrap
Oh yes, and this

Glad everyone's scans have been good so far.

salt1 · 21/08/2012 20:25

anyone else having bad dreams? last night i dreamt i killed a baby panda accidently while keeping it safe in my bra ... v disturbing ...

Birdies · 21/08/2012 20:33

Lol pasha! I'm def still favouring the bednest. Thanks for the tip re 10% off, that almost made me just go and buy one but I've held off for now!

Salt oh yes definitely - have quite vivid horrible dreams, including one where I woke and DD was smothered next to me (took me 30 seconds of frantically shaking her (with my eyes open) to wake up properly and realise I was actually shaking my pillow and she was fast asleep in her cot).

complicated I've made do with one pillow between knees and one between arms and boobage. Works well for me - I've considered an actual maternity pillow a few times but I can't see how they are any comfier than having a couple of normal pillows to hug.

Is everyone trying to sleep on their left side? I have been since finding out but getting a bit fed up with it now (and i do wake on my back sometimes).

Pascha · 21/08/2012 20:39

No horrible dreams yet. I distinctly remember last time they came after the birth along with those awful night sweats. The dreams normally took on the form of me falling asleep while feeding the baby and waking up with him under the covers or squashed or something. It never happened, of course. Far too careful.

I'm turning every which way at the moment as its too hot at night and I like a cool pillow. I am finding it increasingly uncomfortable on my front now though.

Oh fab thanks, I looked at that doppler the other day, think i might have to get one... also love the bednest idea.

Having some some pretty disturbing dreams. not baby related just plain weird. Last night I had dreamt I had to share a bed in a Travelodge with my friend's 75 year old naked dad. Blurgh!

Pascha - 10% on bednests!!??
and re. the wallaboo - would it be ok in the crib / cot? or to hot for indoors?

MamaMary · 21/08/2012 21:29

Pascha I love the items on your wish list, but none of them is strictly necessary - I've already got a moses basket and blankets are fine for both swaddling to keep cosy and in the pram. Grin And yes I had a few horrible dreams last time about unintentionally killing the baby but nothing so far this time.

Creepy sorry you're feeling so rough - no wonder with a lack of sleep. Maybe you'll do better when the weather gets cooler and the nights longer? Luckily I'm sleeping well at night - apart from about a dozen trips to the toilet that is.

Haha no none of them are necessary at all Grin. Its a want list really. The wallaboo comes in lighter materials here

Marasme yes through mumsnet mall scroll through to Pregnancy and Baby section. Code is on the little advert. I assume it works.
