Thread 3; go!

Hello - finally joining this thread after lurking forever. I'm 40, and after an early MC last year, thought I would never get another BFP. It finally happened, after a nice holiday, while the GP was doing busy referring us for infertility investigations...

Thanks bunty, I will try all those things Thanks

MarasmeAbsolu · 18/08/2012 18:15

Bunty ... memories ;)
re nipple shields - might be worth checking the sizes. I remember buying the small ones, unpacking them and staring at them for a good minute. the things were BIG and my nipples were/are... NOT BIG.
Still puzzled about them!

knuckingfackered · 18/08/2012 19:18

so I'm imagining the lilly pad silicon nursing pads for leakage are very anti latch?
They seem to depress the nipple in.
I haven't read reviews, anyone got experience or an opinion.
They appealed to me

BuntyCollocks · 18/08/2012 20:02

Absolutely, marasme!

You're welcome, birdies :)

knucking no idea how they would affect latch, but my midwife in hospital told me (I had them) that she'd seen a mother go from oversupply to under supply using them - put me right off! I still think she was talking bollocks, but have enough issues to contend with breastfeeding that I'm not going to chance it!

allchik · 19/08/2012 00:06

13mma u found us! Welcome!x

I have just been on a NIGHT OUT i wore actual HEELS and drank (nursed) half a LAGER! I am rock n roll lol!

Ps-drunk people r knobs when ur sober lol!x

Tugstonia · 19/08/2012 06:29

Welcome 13mma! We're due date buddies :) Hope you've been feeling good so far.

Lol allchik, v Envy of your night out! Sounds like fun. I've turned into a right boring old fart lately.

Question for you all and sorry if this has been asked before: when did you first feel your bubba move (with your first)? I'm 18+2 and haven't felt diddly squat. People keep asking me if I've felt anything then look disappointed when I say no, but I always thought it was later on with DC1? Also I have an anterior placenta so guess I would feel it later anyway. Thanks all.

pmgkt · 19/08/2012 07:26

Tugs anything up to 22 weeks is normal so don't worry. I did find it odd that when you see it moving in your scan that you can't feel it.

Pascha · 19/08/2012 07:57

Morning Tugs I felt movement from about 18 weeks with the first but my friend didn't feel a thing til about 21 weeks. Its all normal. If your placenta is at the front it can mask the feel of the kicks on your tummy. Someone here has that - Birdie or Bunty I think.

allchik · 19/08/2012 07:58

In my pregnancy book it says up to 25 wks is normal, think I was quite early, dnt worry will happen soon x x

allchik · 19/08/2012 08:06

(Im probably gonna have a 12pound brute!)

Tugstonia · 19/08/2012 08:09

Thanks all :)

BuntyCollocks · 19/08/2012 08:40

tugs I have an anterior placenta this time round, and I've only started properly feeling movement since around 20 weeks, and even then i think it's because I know what it should feel like as she's my second.

Seriously, I know it's easy to say, but don't worry. You'll probably go straight to the little kicks rather than the flutters that most people feel as baby has to get bigger and stronger before we can feel anything - there's a big cushion in the way after all :)

Even now at 21 weeks movement is extremely muted compared to what I felt with a posterior placenta at this stage.

happyhow · 19/08/2012 08:44

I'm 20 weeks tomorrow and haven't felt anything yet either. Got my scan tomorrow too so will be very bizarre seeing it wriggle around!

Birdies · 19/08/2012 08:58

Tugs it was about 22-23 weeks for me last time when I had an anterior placenta. So far too early for you to feel anything!

I don't have an anterior placenta this time and I've felt them for a little while, but no kicks until 20 weeks (perhaps layer of fat acts as shield?!).

Welcome 13mma!

Tugstonia · 19/08/2012 09:17

Thank you lovely ladies :) I'm such a worry wart!

theboutiquemummy · 19/08/2012 14:27

Is anyone getting period like pain ? I'm 19+0 today n I'm panicking a little bit Sad

l3mma · 19/08/2012 16:10

oopsie I just ate 3 bags of crisps n hubby never got any, well if he does have a nap on a Sunday afternoon what does he expect :p x

allchik · 19/08/2012 16:35

boutique yep ive had quite a bit of cramping, think its all the stretching.Think u only need to get checked up if they get v strong n come with spotting? My 1st so not n expert but know quite a few of my friends with kids were quite suprised at how crampy pregnancy is x x x

happyhow · 19/08/2012 16:49

I've been having fun on eBay trying to get some bargain priced clothes. Got a few things but missed out on a couple too Sad. That was my fault for not paying attention to the time though...

MamaMary · 19/08/2012 19:42

Hello all.

l3mma Mmmmmnn I quite fancy some crisps now you mention them but don't have any in the house, pity.

Boutique I've had a fair bit of cramping and period-like pains too. Didn't know what it was but then read about the uterus stretching.

Happyhow, good luck for your scan tomorrow :)

And welcome to anyone who's joined us! Still a long road ahead till January!

PricklyPickle · 19/08/2012 20:04

I've got my scan tomorrow too! Getting excited now! Good luck Happy and Marasme too, we all get to see our little ones tomorrow.

I'm getting regular kicks, and I'm sure at my 12 week scan they said I had an anterior placenta, I guess its slid round somewhere else, I hope its not covering the exit!

SquealyB · 19/08/2012 20:06

Hi all

Hope everyone is well. Baffled by the world of breast feeding lingo. Have done a bit of baby reading (massive geek) and now feel a bit more on top of things but no doubt everything will be different to what it says in the books. Slightly amazed by vast differences in style and opinion from book to book. Suffice to say Gina Ford terrifies me!

Good luck with the scan tomorrow happy. Three weeks until my scan and two weeks until obstetrician appointment so no doubt each day will drag until then.
